Additive cyclic codes over finite commutative chain rings

Additive cyclic codes over Galois rings were investigated in Cao et al. (2015). In this paper, we investigate the same problem but over a more general ring family, finite commutative chain rings. When we focus on non-Galois finite commutative chain rings, we observe two different kinds of additivity. One of them is a natural generalization of the study in Cao et al. (2015), whereas the other one has some unusual properties especially while constructing dual codes. We interpret the reasons of such properties and illustrate our results giving concrete examples.     

On cubic rings and quaternion rings

In this paper, we show that the orbits of some simple group actions parametrize cubic rings and quaternion rings.     

Universal deformation rings and Klein four defect groups

In this paper, the universal deformation rings of certain modular representations of a finite group are determined. The representations under consideration are those which are associated to blocks with Klein four defect groups and whose stable endomorphisms are given by scalars. It turns out that these universal deformation rings are always subquotient rings of the group ring of a Klein four group over the ring of Witt vectors.

     

On extensions of matrix rings with skew Hochschild 2-cocycles

We study structures of Hochschild 2-cocycles related to endomorphisms and introduce a skew Hochschild 2-cocycle. We moreover define skew Hochschild extensions equipped with skew Hochschild 2-cocycles, and then we examine uniquely clean, Abelian, directly finite, symmetric, and reversible ring properties of skew Hochschild extensions and related ring systems. The results obtained here provide various kinds of examples of such rings. Especially, we give an answer negatively to the question of H. Lin and C. Xi for the corresponding Hochschild extensions of reversible (or semicommutative) rings. Finally, we establish three kinds of Hochschild extensions with Hochschild 2-cocycles and skew Hochschild 2-cocycles.     

On finitely embedded rings

A result of Ginn and Moss asserts that a left and right noetherian ring with essential right socle is left and right artinian. There are examples of right finitely embedded rings with ACC on left and right annihilators which are not artinian. Motivated by this, it was shown by Faith that a commutative, finitely embedded ring with ACC on annihilators (and square-free socle) is artinian (quasi-Frobenius). A ring R is called right minsymmetric if, whenever k R is a simple right ideal of R, then R k is also simple. In this paper we show that a right noetherian right minsymmetric ring with essential right socle is right artinian. As a consequence we show that a ring is quasi-Frobenius if and only if it is a right and left mininjective, right finitely embedded ring with ACC on right annihilators. This extends the known work in the artinian case, and also extends Faith's result to the non-commutative case.     

On graded nil clean rings

In this paper we introduce and study the notion of a graded (strongly) nil clean ring which is group graded. We also deal with extensions of graded (strongly) nil clean rings to graded matrix rings and to graded group rings. The question of when nil cleanness of the component, which corresponds to the neutral element of a group, implies graded nil cleanness of the whole graded ring is examined. Similar question is discussed in the case of groupoid graded rings as well.     

Isomorphisms of global representation rings

In this paper, we study properties of isomorphisms of global rings that preserve the standard bases.     

Finite conductor rings

We extend the definition of a finite conductor domain to rings with zero divisors, and develop a theory of these rings which allows us, among other things, to provide examples of non-coherent finite conductor domains, and to clarify the behavior of non-coherent polynomial rings, group rings and fixed rings over coherent rings.

Independence of vectors in codes over rings

We study codes over Frobenius rings. We describe Frobenius rings via an isomorphism to the product of local Frobenius rings and use this decomposition to describe an analog of linear independence. Special attention is given to codes over principal ideal rings and a basis for codes over principal ideal rings is defined. We prove that a basis exists for any code over a principal ideal ring and that any two basis have the same number of vectors. Some commutativity criteria for prime rings with differential identities on Jordan ideals

In this article, we present some commutativity theorems for a ring R equipped with a generalized derivation satisfying certain differential identities on Jordan ideals of R. Some related results for prime rings are also discussed. Finally; we provide examples to show that the assumed restrictions are not superfluous.     

弱$r$-Clean环

As generalization of r-clean rings and weakly clean rings, we define a ring R is weakly r-clean if for any a∈R there exist an idempotent e and a regular element r such that a = r + e or a = r-e. Some properties and examples of weakly r-clean rings are given. Furthermore, we prove the weakly clean rings and weakly r-clean rings are equivalent for abelian rings.     

2n Bordered constructions of self-dual codes from group rings

Self-dual codes, which are codes that are equal to their orthogonal, are a widely studied family of codes. Various techniques involving circulant matrices and matrices from group rings have been used to construct such codes. Moreover, families of rings have been used, together with a Gray map, to construct binary self-dual codes. In this paper, we introduce a new bordered construction over group rings for self-dual codes by combining many of the previously used techniques. The purpose of this is to construct self-dual codes that were missed using classical construction techniques by constructing self-dual codes with different automorphism groups. We apply the technique to codes over finite commutative Frobenius rings of characteristic 2 and several group rings and use these to construct interesting binary self-dual codes. In particular, we construct some extremal self-dual codes of length 64 and 68, constructing 30 new extremal self-dual codes of length 68.     

On a class of coherent regular rings

The paper investigates a special class of quasi-local rings. It is shown that these rings are coherent and regular in the sense that every finitely generated submodule of a free module has a finite free resolution.

     

Examples of Armendariz Rings

We construct various examples of Armendariz and related rings by reviewing and extending some results concerning the structure of nil(R). In particular, we give some examples of Armendariz rings related to power series rings and an example of an n-Armendariz ring, for all n ≥ 1, which is not Armendariz.     

Generalized orderings and rings of fractions

Every total ordering of a commutative domain can be extended uniquely to its field of fractions. This result is extended in two directions. Firstly, the notion of a total ordering is generalized so that a nonzero element can have more than two signs (in fact, these signs form a group). Secondly, commutative domains are replaced by noncommutative ones and we consider the following types of rings of fractions: Ore extensions, maximal (right or two-sided) rings of fractions, division hulls of free algebras and epic fields. Classification of multivariate skew polynomial rings over finite fields via affine transformations of variables

In this work, free multivariate skew polynomial rings are considered, together with their quotients over ideals of skew polynomials that vanish at every point (which includes minimal multivariate skew polynomial rings). We provide a full classification of such multivariate skew polynomial rings (free or not) over finite fields. To that end, we first show that all ring morphisms from the field to the ring of square matrices are diagonalizable, and that the corresponding derivations are all inner derivations. Secondly, we show that all such multivariate skew polynomial rings over finite fields are isomorphic as algebras to a multivariate skew polynomial ring whose ring morphism from the field to the ring of square matrices is diagonal, and whose derivation is the zero derivation. Furthermore, we prove that two such representations only differ in a permutation on the field automorphisms appearing in the corresponding diagonal. The algebra isomorphisms are given by affine transformations of variables and preserve evaluations and degrees. In addition, ours proofs show that the simplified form of multivariate skew polynomial rings can be found computationally and explicitly.

In this paper we study varieties of rings, where all subdirectly irreducible finite rings are Armendariz. We also describe the locally finite varieties of Armendariz rings.     

Equalities of ideals associated with two projections in rings with involution

In this article we study various right ideals associated with two projections (self-adjoint idempotents) in a ring with involution. Results of O.M. Baksalary, G. Trenkler, R. Piziak, P.L. Odell and R. Hahn about orthogonal projectors (complex matrices which are Hermitian and idempotent) are considered in the setting of rings with involution. New proofs based on algebraic arguments, rather than finite-dimensional and rank theory, are given.
