Various primary alcohols, particularly benzylic alcohols, could be converted into the corresponding aromatic amides in good yields in a one-pot manner by treatment with molecular iodine in aq. NH3, followed by reaction with ∼30% aq H2O2. Similarly, various benzylic halides could be also converted into the corresponding aromatic amides in good yields in a one-pot manner by treatment with molecular iodine in aq NH3, followed by reaction with ∼30% aq H2O2. The present reactions involve the metal-free one-pot oxidative conversion of benzylic alcohols and benzylic halides into the corresponding aromatic amides, respectively.  相似文献

A practical, chemoselective oxidation of alcohols employing catalytic quantities of DDQ as the oxidant and Mn(OAc)(3) as the co-oxidant is described. Electron-rich benzylic alcohols are oxidized efficiently to their corresponding carbonyls, but less electron-rich benzylic alcohols remain unchanged. Allylic alcohols are rapidly oxidized to their corresponding aldehyde or ketone counterparts in high yields. This protocol is operationally simple, employs an inexpensive source of Mn(OAc)(3), has short reaction times, and exhibits a significant chemoselectivity favoring allylic alcohols over benzylic alcohols. This procedure also avoids the use of very large excesses of reagents and sometimes poor reproducibility that characterize previously developed reagents such as MnO(2).  相似文献

A highly efficient catalytic system without transition metals in water has been developed for aerobic oxidations of benzylic alcohols. The newly developed catalyst system could oxidize benzylic alcohols and heteroaromatic analogues with 1 mol % TEMPO as a catalyst and with a catalytic amount of 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin and NaNO2 as cocatalysts. Under the optimal conditions, various alcohols could be converted into their corresponding aldehydes or ketones in high yields.  相似文献

A new transition-metal-free, sodium metaperiodate (NaIO4)-mediated direct oxidation of methylarenes and benzylic bromides to the corresponding aromatic carboxylic acids is described. Under the same reaction conditions, benzylic alcohols are selectively oxidized to afford the corresponding aldehydes in good yields without undergoing overoxidation. Unprecedentedly, oxidation of benzyl bromide, toluene, or benzyl alcohol with NaIO4 underwent nuclear bromination followed by oxidation to give 4-bromobenzoic acid in 60-79% yields.  相似文献

A simple, efficient, and chemoselective oxidation of benzylic alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes and ketones and also hydroquinones to the benzoquinones using bis-(2,4,6-trimethylpyridinium) dichromate (BTMPDC) in acetonitrile is described. A good range of primary and secondary benzylic alcohols and a limited range of hydroquinones were selectively oxidized under reflux conditions in reasonable yields.  相似文献

Allyltrimethylsilane (allyl-TMS) reacts with propargylic alcohols in the presence of 10% Bi(OTf)(3) in [BMIM][BF(4)] solvent to furnish the corresponding 1,5-enynes in respectable isolated yields (87-93%) at room temperature. The utility of Bi(OTf)(3) as a superior catalyst was demonstrated in a survey study on coupling of allyl-TMS with employing several metallic triflates (Bi, Ln, Al, Yb) as well as, B(C(6)F(5))(3), Zn(NTf(2))(2) and Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O. Coupling of cyclopropyl substituted propargylic alcohol with allyl-TMS gave the skeletally intact 1,5-enyne and a ring opened derivative as a mixture. Coupling of propargylic/allylic alcohol with allyl-TMS resulted in allylation at both benzylic (2 isomers) and propargylic positions, as major and minor products respectively. The scope of this methodology for allylation of a series of allylic and benzylic alcohols was explored. Chemoselective reduction of a host of propargylic, propagylic/allylic, bis-allylic, allylic, and benzylic alcohols with Et(3)SiH was achieved in high yields with short reaction times. The same approach was successfully applied to couple representative propargylic and allylic alcohols with 1-phenyl-2-trimethylsilylacetylene. The recovery and reuse of the ionic liquid (IL) was gauged in a case study with minimal decrease in isolated yields after six cycles.  相似文献

A new and highly efficient method for the C–N bond formation using molecular iodine-catalyzed N-alkylation reaction of tosylhydrazones with benzylic/benzhydryl alcohols at room temperature in methylene chloride is described. A variety of tosylhydrazones reacted readily with various substituted benzylic alcohols in presence of 20 mol % iodine under mild reaction conditions to produce the corresponding biologically active N-alkylated compounds in good to excellent yields.  相似文献

Electrochemical bromination of toluene and substituted toluenes by two-phase electrolysis yields the corresponding α-brominated products. The reaction has been carried out in a single compartment cell with platinum electrodes at 0 °C in chloroform using an aqueous sodium bromide solution (60%) containing a catalytic amount of HBr. Two-phase electrolysis results in high yields (60-95%) of monobromo compounds with very high regioselectivity (>95%).  相似文献

A green and efficient transition-metal free ABNO/tert-butyl nitrite/KPF6-catalyzed aerobic oxidation of secondary alcohols in water has been achieved. A convenient and efficient synthesis of alpha-aryl nitriles was developed by direct cyanation of alcohols with TMSCN under the catalysis of Lewis acid. Catalytic amount of vanadium reagent with tert-butylhydroperoxide as the oxidant was found to be an excellent oxidizing agent in aqueous medium. Vanadium pentoxide with aq tert-butylhydroperoxide readily oxidizes primary benzylic azides to the corresponding acids and secondary benzylic azides to the corresponding ketones in excellent yields. Further, vanadium pentoxide and aq tert-butylhydroperoxide combination turned out to be an effective catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols. Using vanadium pentoxide and aq tert-butylhydroperoxide primary alcohols were oxidized to the corresponding acids, whereas secondary alcohols underwent a smooth transformation to furnish corresponding ketones in excellent yields. Electrochemical bromination of alkyl aromatic compounds by two-phase electrolysis yields the corresponding α, α-dibrominated products. The reaction has been carried out in a single-compartment electrochemical cell using aqueous sodium bromide (40–50%), containing a catalytic amount of HBr as electrolyte, and chloroform, containing an alkyl aromatic compound, as the organic phase with a Pt plate as anode at 10–15°C. Two-phase electrolysis results in high yields (70–90%) of dibromomethyl, bis(bromomethyl), and bis(dibromomethyl) arenes, depending upon the charge passed.  相似文献

Structurally different benzylic alcohols were efficiently converted to their corresponding chlorides by silica chloride (SiO2-Cl) in CHCl3 at room temperature.
