Summary Characteristic crystalline reaction products are obtained when 1,6-dichlorotetrapyridinocobaltic chloride reacts either with the free acid or the sodium salt of the following radicals: azide, bitartrate, chromate, metavanadate, orthovanadate, permanganate, salicylate, and sulfosalicylate anions. Of the reaction products formed, we recommend those with chromate, orthovanadate, permanganate, salicylate, and sulfosalicylate for the detection of these anions.

Studies on the application of salts of complex cations to the microscopic detection of anions

Summary Characteristic crystalline reaction products were obtained when 1,6-dibromotetramminocobaltic bromide is allowed to react as a solid with solutions of salicylates, sulfosalicylates and silicotungstates. The two former reactions are recommended only for use by experienced microscopists, while the reaction with the silicotungstate is easily obtainable by anyone.

Identification of the phenothiazines by gas chromatography of their pyrolysis products

Summary Nineteen phenothiazines were pyrolyzed and their products analyzed gas chromatographically. The pyrolysis products were compared with those obtained from a similar study of the barbiturates. Tentative identifications have been made of three pyrolysis products. The pyrolyzates of the various phenothiazine derivatives yield gas chromatographie patterns which differentiate among them.

Zusammenfassung Die Pyrolyseprodukte von 19 Phenothiazinen wurden gaschromato-graphisch analysiert und mit jenen verglichen, die bei einer analogen Untersuchung von Barbituraten erhalten worden waren. Die Identifizierung von drei Pyrolyseprodukten wurde versucht. Die Pyrolysate der verschiedenen Phenothiazinderivate lassen sich gaschromatographisch unterscheiden.

Résumé On a effectué la pyrolyse de dix-neuf phénothiazines et analysé les produits résultants par chromatographie en phase gazeuse. On a comparé les résultats — ceux obtenus au cours d'une étude semblable sur les barbiturates. On a tenté d'identifier trois produits de pyrolyse. Nachweis von Arylsulfinsäuren in der Tüpfelanalyse

Zusammenfassung Zum selektiven Nachweis von Arylsulfinsäuren eignet sich die Abspaltung von Schwefeldioxyd bei der Einwirkung von Quecksilber(II)-chlorid sowie die Umsetzung mit o-Dinitrobenzol, wobei salpetrige Säure gebildet wird. Beide Reaktionsprodukte sind mit Hilfe von Tüpfelreaktionen feststellbar. Es werden mikroanalytische Erfassungsgrenzen erreicht.

Summary The arylsulfinic acids can be selectively detected through the splitting out of sulfur dioxide under the action of mercury(II) chloride, and also through reaction with o-dinitrobenzene, which results in the formation of nitrous acid. Both of these reaction products can be detected by spot reactions.

Studies on the application of salts of complex cations to microscopic detection of anions

Summary Crystalline reaction products have been obtained when triethylene-diaminocobaltic chloride is allowed to react with solutions containing cobaltinitrite, ferricyanide, ferrocyanide, orthovanadate and xanthate ions. Of these, the reaction product obtained with the ferricyanide ion is recommended as the most sensitive and characteristic, while those with the orthovanadate and xanthate ions, while not so sensitive, are equally characteristic. The reagent is most sensitive with the ferrocyanide ion but the reaction product is not quite as characteristic as in the case of the ferricyanide.

Zusammenfassung Bei der Reaktion von Triäthylendiamin-kobalt(III)-chlorid mit Lösungen, die Kobalt(III)-nitrit, Eisen(III)-cyanid-, Eisen(II)-cyanid-, Orthovanadat-und Xanthat-Ion enthalten, wurden kristalline Reaktionsprodukte erzielt. Von diesen ist das mit Eisen(III)-cyanid entstandene Reaktionsprodukt das empfindlichste und charakteristischeste, während die Reaktionsprodukte mit Orthovanadat- und Xanthat-Ion zwar nicht so empfindlich, jedoch gleichermaßen charakteristisch sind. Das Reagens reagiert am empfindlichsten mit Eisen(II)-cyanid-Ion, doch ist dieses Reaktionsprodukt nicht ganz so charakteristisch wie das mit Eisen(III)-cyanid erhaltene.

Résumé (W) On obtient des produits de réaction cristallisés en faisant agir le chlorure de triéthylènediaminocobalt sur des solutions contenant des ions cobaltinitrites, ferrocyanures, ferricyanures, orthovanadates et xanthates. Parmi ceux-ci, le produit do la réaction de l'ion ferricyanhydrique permet l'identification la plus sensible et la plus caractéristique tandis que les produits de réaction des ions orthovanadique et xanthique, bien que moins sensibles sont également caractéristiques. Le réactif est très sensible vis-à-vis de l'ion ferrocyanhydrique; mais le produit de réaction n'est pas tout à fait aussi caractéristique que celui du ferricyanure.

Mechanism of the catalytic oxidation ofp-phenetidine and some phenols with chlorate in the presence of vanadium (V) as catalyst

Summary The mechanism of some analytical catalytic reactions is investigated further. The catalytic oxidation ofp-phenetidine hydrochloride and some phenolic compounds-phenol, hydroquinone, pyrocatechol and l,2-dihydroxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid-by chlorate with vanadium (V) as catalyst is studied. Some of the reaction products are identified and the mechanism of their formation is discussed.

Zusammenfassung Der Mechanismus einiger analytischer Katalysereaktionen wurde weiter untersucht. Die katalytische Oxydation von p-Phenetidinhydrochlorid und einiger phenolischer Verbindungen - Phenol, Hydrochinon, Brenzcatechin und l,2-Dihydroxynaphthalin-4-Sulfosäure - mit Chiorat und V(V) als Katalysator wurde studiert. Résumé On a poursuivi l'étude du mécanisme de plusieurs réactions analytiques catalytiques. On a étudié l'oxydation catalytique du chlorhydrate dep-phénétidine et de composés phénoliques (phénol, hydroquinone, pyrocatéchol et acide dihydroxy-1,2 naphtalène sulfonique-4) par les chlorates avec le vanadium-V comme catalyseur. On a identifié quelques uns des produits de réaction et discuté le mécanisme de leur formation.

Über den Nachweis und die Unterscheidung einiger Nicotinsäure-Derivate

Zusammenfassung Es wurden die Reaktionsprodukte des Nicotinsäureamids, des Diäthylamids der Nicotinsäure (Coramin) und des Oxymethylamids der Nicotinsäure (Bilamid) mit Kalium-Wismut-Jodid bzw. -Bromid auf ihre Eignung zum mikroskopischen Nachweis der genannten Basen untersucht. Die unter den angegebenen Verhältnissen erhaltenen Produkte sind homogen, haben eine definierte chemische Zusammensetzung und einen charakteristischen kristallographischen Habitus, der ihre Unterscheidung unter dem Mikroskop ermöglicht.

Summary The reaction products of nicotinic amide, of nicotinic dimethylamide (coramine), and of the oxymethylamide (bilamide) with potassium bismuth iodide or bromide have been studied with a view to their suitability for the microscopic detection of these bases. The products obtained under the stated conditions are homogeneous, have a definite chemical composition, and display characteristic crystallographic habits, which makes it possible to distinguish them under the microscope.

Zusammenfassung Eine Methode zum Nachweis von Penicillin und dessen enzymatischen Hydrolyseprodukten auf Papierchromatogrammen wird beschrieben, die auf der Reaktion mit Silbernitrat nach alkalischer Hydrolyse beruht; eine Reihe erprobter Fließmittel zur papierchromatographischen Trennung dieser Verbindungen wird angegeben.

Summary A method is described for the detection of penicillin and its enzymatic hydrolysis products on paper chromatograms. The procedure is based on the reaction with silver nitrate following alkaline hydrolysis. A series of tested moving phases for the paper chromatographic separation of these compounds is given.

Les produits de réaction obtenus rendent possibles la caractérisation et la séparation des diazines, d'après la forme et la couleur ainsi que la sensibilité de la réaction.

Summary The use of 2% phosphomolydic solution for the identification and differentiation of piperazine, pyrazine, pyridazine, and pyrimidine through microcrystal precipitations is described. The products obtained permit the characterization and differentiation of the diazines by form and color or by the sensitivity of the reaction.

Zusammenfassung Zinn(II)- und Zinn(IV)hydroxyd bilden mit Morin eine gegen Essigsäure resistente Haugrün fluoreszierende Adsorptionsverbindung. Die Anwendung dieser Fluoreszenzreaktion in der Tüpfelanalyse wird beschrieben. Die Empfindlichkeit der Reaktion beträgtpD=6,0.Bei Anwesenheit von Aluminium, Antimon(III) und Zirkon, deren Hydroxyde sich analog verhalten wie Zinnhydroxyd, muß zur Prüfung auf Zinn von einer sulfalkalischen Lösung ausgegangen werden.

Summary Tin(II) and tin(IV) hydroxydes form blue acetic acid resistant adsorption compounds with morine. These products fluoresce blue-green. The application of this fluorescence reaction in spot test analysis is described. The sensitivity of the reaction ispD=6.0.When aluminum, antimony(III) and zircon are present, whose hydroxydes behave analogously to tin hydroxyde, the test for tin must proceed from a sulfalkaline solution.

Résumé Les hydroxydes de Sn(II) et Sn(IV) forment avec le morin un composé d'adsorption fluorescent en vert-bleu et résistant vis-à-vis de l'acide acétique. L'emploi de cette réaction de fluorescence en analyse à la touche est décrit. La sensibilité de la réaction s'élève àpD=6,0. En présence d'aluminium, antimoine-III et zirconium dont les hydroxydes se comportent comme celui d'étain, l'essai pour l'étain doit être effectué en solution sulfo-alcaline.
