A pump-probe technique has been applied for measuring the lifetimes and absolute photoionization cross-sections of excited
He states. The 1s2p 1P and 1s3p 1P states of He are excited by using the 13th and the 14th harmonic, respectively, of a tunable 70 ps dye laser generated in
a Kr gas jet. The states are ionized after a varying time delay, by absorption of probe photons with energies between 1.6
and 4.5 eV. Lifetimes of τ(1s2p) = 0.57 ns and τ(1s3p) = 1.76 ns are determined with a precision of about 15%. A significant enhancement of the number of ions present in the lifetime
curves at zero time delay for pressures above 6×10-5 mbar is attributed to direct two-photon ionization of He in combination with AC Stark broadening of the excited state and
absorption of the XUV light in the medium. Absolute photoionization cross-sections from the He 1s2p 1P and He 1s3p 1P states in the threshold region are determined by measuring the saturation of the ionization process with a precision of
∼ 25%. In addition, the variation of the relative orientation between the polarization vectors of the pump and probe beams
enables the determination of partial photoionization cross-sections.

The 109,111,113Rh nuclei have been produced as fission fragments in the fusion reaction 18O + 208Pb at 85 MeV. Their level schemes have been built from gamma-rays detected using the Euroball IV array. High-spin states of
the neutron-rich 111,113Rh nuclei have been identified for the first time. Several rotational bands with the odd proton occupying the πg
9/2, πp
1/2 and π(g
7/2/d
5/2) sub-shells have been observed. A band of low-energy transitions has been identified at excitation energy around 2 MeV in
109,111Rh, which can be interpreted in terms of three-quasiparticle excitation, πg
9/2νh
11/2νg
7/2/d
5/2. In addition another structure built on states located at low excitation energy (608 keV in 111Rh, 570 keV in 113Rh) points out that, as already observed in the lighter isotopes 107,109Rh, triaxial deformation plays a role in the neutron-rich Rh isotopes well beyond the mid-shell.

We study the energy dependences of electron excitation cross sections of the autoionizing levels (5p

3/2 and (5p
55d(3
P)6s)2
P
3/2, as well as the autoionization cross sections of cesium atoms in the impact energy range from the excitation threshold to
600 eV. It is established that an increase in the excitation cross section of the 2
P
3/2 levels (to 60% of the maximum value) and the deep minimum in the autoionization cross section observed in the energy region
of 17–27 eV are caused by the predominance of the radiative decay channel for autoionizing levels with excitation thresholds
above 17 eV. The high efficiency of the process is mainly related to the resonance excitation of these levels in the near-threshold

The effect of a laser field on the cross section of photoionization of an atom by probe radiation in the region of closely lying autoionizing resonances is studied theoretically. The cross sections in the region of the overlapping autoionizing Rydberg states 5p 5(2 P 1/2)6d′ J = 1 and 5p 5(2 P 1/2)8s′ J = 1 resonantly coupled with the discrete state 5p 5(2 P 3/2)7p[1/2]1 in the xenon atom are calculated. The behavior of the shape and position of resonances in relation to the frequency and intensity of laser radiation is studied. 相似文献

The autoionization cross section of potassium atoms excited by electron impact is measured in the energy range from the first autoionization threshold at 18.72 eV to 202 eV. The data are obtained by deter-mining the total intensity of electron spectra resulting from the decay of the 3p 5 n 1 l 1 n 2 l 2 autoionizing states. The cross section has two maxima, 1.8 × 10?16 and 2.2 × 10?16 cm2, at 21 and 32 eV, respectively. The excitation dynamics of autoionization states suggests that the first maximum is associated with the resonance character of the near-threshold excitation. The second maximum, as well as the behavior of the cross section at energies above 50 eV, reflects the dynamics of electron excitation of quartet and doublet autoionizing states. The measured autoionization cross section is compared with known data for the total single ionization cross section of potassium atom by electron impact. The relative contribution of the autoionization cross section to the total single ionization cross section is found to reach 30% at 32 eV. 相似文献

Differential cross-sections for quasi-free Compton scattering from the proton and neutron bound in the deuteron have been
measured using the Glasgow/Mainz photon tagging spectrometer at the Mainz MAMI accelerator together with the Mainz [48]cm
;SPMOslash; × [64]cm NaI(Tl) photon detector and the G?ttingen SENECA recoil detector. The data cover photon energies ranging from [200]MeV
to [400]MeV at θLAB
γ = 136.2°. Liquid deuterium and hydrogen targets allowed direct comparison of free and quasi-free scattering from the proton. The neutron
detection efficiency of the SENECA detector was measured via the reaction p(γ,π+
n). The “free” proton Compton scattering cross-sections extracted from the bound proton data are in reasonable agreement with
those for the free proton which gives confidence in the method to extract the differential cross-section for free scattering
from quasi-free data. Differential cross-sections on the free neutron have been extracted and the difference of the electromagnetic
polarizabilities of the neutron has been determined to be αn - βn = 9.8±3.6(stat)+2.1
-1.1(syst)±2.2(model) in units of [10-4]fm
3. In combination with the polarizability sum αn + βn = 15.2±0.5 deduced from photoabsorption data, the neutron electric and magnetic polarizabilities, αn = 12.5±1.8(stat)+1.1
-0.6(syst)±1.1(model) and βn = 2.7±1.8(stat)+0.6
-1.1(syst)±1.1(model) are obtained. The backward spin polarizability of the neutron was determined to be γ(n)
π = (58.6±4.0)×10-4

3/2 and 6d D
5/2 with tunable dye lasers by means of a resonance ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer (RI-TOFMS). Many new autoionizing states were found, a few of which have narrow-linewidths of about 0.1 cm–1. The photoionization efficiencies for different channels were compared. Among the autoionizing states found so far, the highest photoionization yield is given by two newly obtained states from the state 6d

Absolute photoionization cross sections for Ne atoms in the excited
levels (Paschen notation
) were calculated at near threshold energies within
the configuration interaction Pauli-Fock approach including core polarization.
The computed spectra and the lineshape parameters of the odd parity
2p1/2
5ns′/d′ autoionizing resonances are
found to be in good agreement with high resolution laser spectroscopic
results. Guided by the theoretical results, improved analyses of the measured
spectra by superimposed Fano-type profiles were achieved. Theoretical
predictions are presented for resonances which have not yet been studied
experimentally. In addition, we report the absolute partial photoionization
cross sections for the 2P3/2 and 2P1/2 channel at
photoelectron energies up to 7 eV. Except for the highest lying 2p1(1S0) level, these cross sections monotonically decrease with
energy (as reported earlier in single-electron calculations for the
Ne(2p53p) configuration) with branching ratios which essentially reflect
the core composition of the 2px levels. For the 2p1 level the resonance structure and the
partial cross sections are strongly influenced by a
Cooper-Seaton minimum in the d3/2
′ channel, located just above the 2P1/2 ionization limit. 相似文献

maximum value of 1.7 × 10−18 cm2 in the energy interval of 56.4–60 eV and a subsequent monotonic drop to a value of 10−18 cm2 at 600 eV. We have discovered a “thin” cross section structure that reflects the presence of strong resonances of Li− ions in the near-threshold area of excitation of the lowest energy autoionization states (1s2s2)2S, (1s2s2p)4

We report the observation of pronounced coherent population trapping and dark resonances in Rydberg states of xenon. A weak
two-photon coupling with radiation of = 250 nm is induced between the 5p6

S
0 ground state of xenon and state 5p
56p[1/2]0, leading to (2+1) resonantly enhanced three-photon ionization. The state 5p
56p[1/2]0 is strongly coupled by radiation with ≃ 600 nm to 5p

ns[J

5
nd[J
C]1 Rydberg states with principal quantum numbers n in the range 18 ?n? 23 and with the rotational quantum number of the ionic core J
C = 1/2 or J
C = 3/2. The ionization is monitored through observation of the photoelectrons with an energy resolution ΔE = 150 meV which is sufficient to distinguish the ionization processes into the two ionization continua. Pronounced and robust
dark resonances are observed in the ionization rate whenever is tuned to resonance with one of the ns- or nd-Rydberg states. The dark resonances are due to efficient population trapping in the atomic ground state 5p6
1
S
0 through the suppression of excitation of the intermediate state 5p
56p[1/2]0. The resolution is sufficient to resolve the hyperfine structure of the ns-Rydberg levels for odd xenon isotopes. The hyperfine splitting does not vary significantly with n in the given range. Results from model calculations taking the natural isotope abundance into account are in good agreement
with the observed spectral structures. Pronounced dark resonances are also observed when the dressing radiation field with
is generated from a laser with poor coherence properties. The maximum reduction of the ionization signal clearly exceeds
50%, a value which is expected to be the maximum, when the dip is caused by saturation of the transition rate between the
intermediate and the Rydberg state due to incoherent radiation. This work demonstrates the potential of dark resonance spectroscopy
of high lying electronic states of rare gas atoms.

Multi-flavour chiral perturbation theory (PT) may exhibit instabilities due to vacuum fluctuations of sea pairs. Keeping the fluctuations small would require a very precise fine tuning of the low-energy constants and to , . A small deviation from these critical values - like the one suggested by the phenomenology of OZI-rule violation in the
scalar channel - is amplified by huge numerical factors inducing large effects of vacuum fluctuations. This would lead in
particular to a strong Nf dependence of chiral symmetry breaking (SB) and a suppression of the multi-flavour chiral order parameters. A simple resummation is shown to cure the instability
of PT, but it modifies the standard expressions of some O(p
2
) and O(p
4
) low-energy parameters in terms of observables. On the other hand, for r= m
s
/m > 15, the two-flavour condensate is not suppressed, due to the contribution induced by massive vacuum pairs. Thanks to the latter, the standard two-flavour PT is protected from multi-flavour instabilities and could provide a well-defined expansion scheme in powers of non-strange
quark masses.

Binary disordered systems are usually obtained by mixing two ingredients in variable proportions: conductor and insulator,
or conductor and super-conductor. They present very specific properties, in particular the second-order percolation phase
transition, with its fractal geometry and the multi-fractal properties of the current moments. These systems are naturally
modeled by regular bi-dimensional or tri-dimensional lattices, on which sites or bonds are chosen randomly with given probabilities.
The two significant parameters are the ratio h = σ
1/σ of the complex conductances, σ and σ
1, of the two components, and their relative abundances p (or, respectively, 1 - p). In this article, we calculate the impedance of the composite by two independent methods: the so-called spectral method,
which diagonalises Kirchhoff's Laws via a Green function formalism, and the Exact Numerical Renormalization method (ENR). These methods are applied to mixtures of
resistors and capacitors (R-C systems), simulating e.g. ionic conductor-insulator systems, and to composites constituted of resistive inductances and capacitors (LR-C systems),
representing metal inclusions in a dielectric bulk. The frequency dependent impedances of the latter composites present very
intricate structures in the vicinity of the percolation threshold. In this paper, we analyse the LR-C behavior of compounds
formed by the inclusion of small conducting clusters (“n-legged animals”) in a dielectric medium. We investigate in particular their absorption spectra who present a pattern of sharp
lines at very specific frequencies of the incident electromagnetic field, the goal being to identify the signature of each
animal. This enables us to make suggestions of how to build compounds with specific absorption or transmission properties
in a given frequency domain.
