The heavy-fermion metal CePd1−x Rh x can be tuned from ferromagnetism at x = 0 to the nonmagnetic state at some critical concentration x c . The non-Fermi liquid behavior (NFL) at xx c is recognized by the power-law dependence of the specific heat C(T) given by the electronic contribution susceptibility X(T) and volume expansion coefficient α(T) at low temperatures: C/TX(T) ∝ α(T)/T∝ 1/ √T. We also demonstrate that the behavior of the normalized effective mass M N * observed in CePd1−x Rh x at x ≃ 0.8 agrees with that of M N * observed in paramagnetic CeRu2Si2 and conclude that these alloys exhibit the universal NFL thermodynamic behavior at their quantum critical points. We show that the NFL behavior of CePd1−x Rh x can be accounted for within the frameworks of the quasiparticle picture and fermion condensation quantum phase transition, while this alloy exhibits a universal thermodynamic NFL behavior that is independent of the characteristic features of the given alloy such as its lattice structure, magnetic ground state, dimension, etc. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the Nd0.5Gd0.5Fe3(BO3)4 single crystal have been studied in principal crystallographic directions in magnetic fields to 90 kG in the temperature range 2–300 K; in addition, the heat capacity has been measured in the range 2–300 K. It has been found that, below the Néel temperature T N = 32 K down to 2 K, the single crystal exhibits an easy-plane antiferromagnetic structure. A hysteresis has been detected during magnetization of the crystal in the easy plane in fields of 1.0–3.5 kG, and a singularity has been found in the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the easy plane at a temperature of 11 K in fields B < 1 kG. It has been shown that the singularity is due to appearance of the hysteresis. The origin of the magnetic properties of the crystal near the hysteresis has been discussed.  相似文献

The colossal (more than threefold) decrease in the dielectric constant ɛ in the easy-plane SmFe3(BO3)4 ferroborate in a magnetic field of ∼5 kOe applied in the basal ab plane of the crystal has been found. A close relation of this effect to anomalies in the field dependence of the electric polarization has been established. It has been shown that this magnetodielectric effect is due to the contribution to ɛ from the electric susceptibility, which is related to the rotation of spins in the ab plane, arises in the region of the antiferromagnetic ordering T < T N = 33 K, and is suppressed by the magnetic field. A theoretical model describing the main features of the behavior of ɛ and electric polarization in the magnetic field has been proposed, taking into account the additional anisotropy in the basal plane induced by the magnetoelastic stresses.  相似文献

We present the results from studying the magnetic properties (linear and nonlinear susceptibilities and the depolarization of polarized neutrons) of Nd1 − x Ba x MnO3 manganite, x = 0.3, with Curie temperature T C ≈ 140 K and dielectric-to-metal transition temperature T DM ≈ 129 K. Its critical behavior corresponds to that of an isotropic 3-D ferromagnet at temperatures above T*≈ 144 K, but a strong nonlinear response in weak magnetic fields and depolarization are observed at temperatures below T*. It is shown that this nontraditional behavior is related to the generation of ferromagnetic clusters in the paramagnetic matrix that form a conducting percolative network at temperatures near T DM.  相似文献

The behavior of the low-temperature specific heat C(T) for YBa2Cu3O6 + x single crystals with the doping level corresponding to the normal phase has been studied by the relaxation technique at different values of the applied magnetic field. It has been found that the C(T)/T plot exhibits such an anomaly as a steep increase with decreasing temperature from T about 4 K down to T ≤ 2 K (the minimum temperature value accessible in the experiment). The applied magnetic field as high as 9 T inverts this anomaly and leads to a sharp drop in C(T)/T during cooling within the same temperature range. A model involving the Schottky-type centers formulated in this work and the data on spin correlation functions has allowed us to calculate the temperature dependence of the specific heat, which fits the experimental curves quite well.  相似文献

A new spintronics material with the Curie temperature above room temperature, the ZnSiAs2 chalcopyrite doped with 1 and 2 wt % Mn, is synthesized. The magnetization, electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance, and the Hall effect of these compositions are studied. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity follows a semiconducting pattern with an activation energy of 0.12–0.38 eV (in the temperature range 124 K ≤ T ≤ 263 K for both compositions). The hole mobility and concentration are 1.33, 2.13 cm2/V s and 2.2 × 1016, 8 × 1016 cm−3 at T = 293 K for the 1 and 2 wt % Mn compositions, respectively. The magnetoresistance of both compositions, including the region of the Curie point, does not exceed 0.4%. The temperature dependence of the magnetization M(T) of both compositions exhibits a complicated character; indeed, for T ≤ 15 K, it is characteristic of superparamagnets, while for T > 15 K, spontaneous magnetization appears which correspond to a decreased magnetic moment per formula unit as compared to that which would be observed upon complete ferromagnetic ordering of Mn2+ spins or antiferromagnetic ordering of spins of the Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions. Thus, for T > 15 K, it is a frustrated ferro- or ferrimagnet. It is found that, unlike the conventional superparamagnets, the cluster moment μ c in these compositions depends on the magnetic field: ∼12000–20000μB for H = 0.1 kOe, ∼52–55μB for H = 11 kOe, and ∼8.6–11.0μB at H = 50 kOe for the compositions with 1 and 2 wt % Mn, respectively. The specific features of the magnetic properties are explained by the competition between the carrier-mediated exchange and superexchange interactions.  相似文献

A monocrystal ofFe 3 O 4 is characterized by resistance, magnetoresistance and magnetic measurements in a temperature range from 4.2 K to 350 K and magnetic field-cycling from −9 T to 9 T. The resistance measurements revealed a metal-insulator Verwey transition (VT) atT v =123.76 K with activation energy E=92.5 meV at T >T v and temperature-substitute for the activation energy below the VT,T 0=E/k B ≈3800 K within 70 K–110K. The magnetotransport results independently verified the VT at 123.70 K, with discontinuous change in the magnetic moment ΔM≈0.21 ΔM≈0.21μ B and resistance hysteresis, dependent on the magnetic field in a narrow temperature range of 0.4° around theT v . The magnetic characterization established self consistentlyT v as ≈123.67 K, the jump in the magnetization at the VT≈0.25μ B and confirmed, that the magnetocrystalline anisotropy is the main microscopic mechanism responsible for the magnetization of the monocrystal (88%) with additional natural and imposed defects contributing as 12%.  相似文献

This paper reports on a study of the low-temperature conductivity and parameters of the superconducting state, namely, the critical temperature T c and the second critical magnetic field Hc2, in the (Pb0.3Sn0.7)0.95In0.05Te solid solution under hydrostatic pressure P ≤ 9 kbar at T = 4.2 K. The choice of this material has been motivated by the fact that, according to earlier observations, it undergoes a superconducting transition at T c ∼ 2.3 K, i.e., close to the maximum value T c ∼ 2.9 K found for the (Pb z Sn1 − z )0.95In0.05Te solid solutions with a lead content z ∼ 0.15–0.25. It has been demonstrated that an increase in the pressure to P ≤ 9 kbar leads to a bell-shaped dependence T c (P). The observed dependences are assigned to the effect of hydrostatic compression on the band structure of the solid solution and indicate a shift in the position of the Fermi level E F with increasing pressure within the impurity band of the In quasi-local states. In this case, E F passes through a maximum in the density of impurity states at P = 3–5 kbar.  相似文献

The magnetic and thermal properties of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite are investigated in wide temperature (4–350 K) range, including under hydrostatic pressure (0–1.1 GPa). Throughout the pressure range investigated, the sample is spin glass with diffused phase transition into paramagnetic state. It is established, that spin glass state is a consequence of exchange interaction frustration of the ferromagnetic clusters embeded into antiferromagnetic clusters. The magnetic moment freezing temperature T f of ferromagnetic clusters increases under pressure, freezing temperature dependence on pressure is characterized by derivative value ∼4.5 K/GPa, while the magnetic ordering T MO temperature dependence is characterized by derivative value ∼13 K/GPa. The volume fraction of sample having ferromagnetic state is V fer ∼ 13% and it increases under a pressure of 1.1 GPa by ΔV fer ≈ 6%. Intensification of ferromagnetic properties of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite under hydrostatic pressure is a consequence of oxygen vacancies redistribution and unit cell parameters decrease. The most likely mechanism of frustrated exchange interactions formation is discussed.  相似文献

The magnetic and transport characteristics of substitutional solid solutions of the Tm1?x Yb x B12 rare earth dodecaborides have been investigated. The measurements performed in the wide temperature range 1.8?300 K on the high-quality single-crystalline samples make it possible to conclude that as x increases, antiferromagnetic instability develops with the quantum critical point (T N = 0) near x = 0.3 and relevant dielectrization of the electron structure in the range 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8 takes place. With the results of the thermoelectric measurements in Tm1?x Yb x B12, the activation energy values and their dependence on x have been determined.  相似文献

Influence of an external magnetic field on the reluctance of the YBa 2 Cu 3 O x ceramics is investigated. A significant reluctance of the oxygen-deficient ceramics (with critical temperature Tc < 77 K) is established for a sample in the normal state at T < 160 K. It is demonstrated that after ceramics annealing that restores the oxygen content to a nearly optimum value, the magnetic field has essentially no effect on the sample reluctance at temperatures exceeding Tc. To explain the revealed mechanisms, a model involving ferromagnetic clusters effectively decreasing the free carrier density is used. __________ Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 4, pp. 68–71, April, 2007.  相似文献

The angular, temperature, and magnetic field dependences of the resistance recorded in the Hall effect geometry are studied for the rare-earth dodecaboride Tm1 ? x Yb x B12 solid solutions where the metal-insulator and antiferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase transitions are observed in the vicinity of the quantum critical point x c ?? 0.3. The measurements performed on high-quality single crystals in the temperature range 1.9?C300 K for the first time have revealed the appearance of the second harmonic contribution, a transverse even effect in these fcc compounds near the quantum critical point. This contribution a is found to increase drastically both under the Tm-to-ytterbium substitution in the range x > x c and with an increase in the external magnetic field. Moreover, as the Yb concentration x increases, a negative peak of a significant amplitude appears on the temperature dependences of the Hall coefficient R H(T) for the Tm1 ? x Yb x B12 compounds, in contrast to the invariable behavior R H(T) ?? const found for TmB12. The complicated activation-type behavior of the Hall coefficient is observed at intermediate temperatures for x ?? 0.5 with activation energies E g /k B ?? 200 K and E a/k B = 55?C75 K, and the sign inversion of R H(T) is detected at liquid-helium temperatures in the coherent regime. Renormalization effects in the electron density of states induced by variation of the Yb concentration are analyzed. The anomalies of the charge transport in Tm1 ? x Yb x B12 solid solutions in various regimes (charge gap formation, intra-gap many-body resonance, and coherent regime) are discussed in detail and the results are interpreted in terms of the electron phase separation effects in combination with the formation of nanosize clusters of rare earth ions in the cage-glass state of the studied dodecaborides. The data obtained allow concluding that the emergence of Yb-Yb dimers in the Tm1 ? x Yb x B12 cage-glass matrix is the origin of the metal-insulator transition observed in the achetypal strongly correlated electron system of YbB12.  相似文献

We report transport, magnetic and thermodynamic properties of the skutterudite compound LaFe4Sb12. The basic features are a large magnetic susceptibility χ(T), and large electronic coefficient γ of the heat capacity. In particular, a T1.35, T1.7, and T-2/3 temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility χ(T), resistivity ρ(T), and Grüneisen parameter Γ(T), respectively, is found at low temperature. An overall understanding of these physical properties is achieved, assuming that LaFe4Sb12 is a non-Fermi liquid system close to a ferromagnetic quantum critical point, with a spin fluctuation temperature Tsf=50±15 K.  相似文献

The point contact spectra of magnetic superconductor HoNi2B2C/Ag-based junctions is analysed in the framework of Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) theory. The anomalous behavior in the dI/dV curves above the Neel temperature(T N ∼ 5 K) is attempted to be explained by the partial suppression of superconducting gap parameter of the prevailing helical incommensurate structure  相似文献

The magnetic transport properties have been measured for La0.67-xYxCa0.33MnO3 ( 0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.14) system. It was found that the transition temperature T p almost linearly moves to higher temperature as H increases. Electron spin resonance confirms that above T p , there exist ferromagnetic clusters. From the magnetic polaron point of view, the shift of T p vs. H was understood, and it was estimated that the size of the magnetic polaron is of 9.7 ∼ 15.4 ? which is consistent with the magnetic correlation length revealed by the small-angle neutron-scattering technique. The transport properties at temperatures higher than T p conform to the variable-range hopping mechanism. The magnetocaloric effect ΔT has been studied by a direct method in two samples of the manganite Sm0.55Sr0.45MnO3, namely, a single crystal (sample A) and a ceramic sample (sample C). The temperature dependences of the ΔT effect of both samples exhibit a maximum at T max = 143.3 K for the sample A and T max = 143 K for the sample C. In these maxima, the values of the ΔT effect are 0.8 and 0.4 K in the magnetic field H = 14.2 kOe for the samples A and C, respectively. In addition, the ΔT(T) curve of the sample A has a minimum at T min = 120 K, in which ΔT = −0.1 K. The maximum value of the ΔT effect increases with an increase in the magnetic field H in the range of magnetic fields up to 14.2 kOe, and the rate of this increase at H > 8 kOe is higher than that at H < 8 kOe. These features of the ΔT effect are explained by the presence of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic A- and CE-type clusters in the samples.  相似文献

The magnetotransport and magnetoresistive (MR) properties of manganese-based La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 perovskite with different grain sizes are reported. The electrical resistivity was measured as a function of temperature in magnetic fields of 0.5 and 1 T. The insulator–metal transition temperature, T IM, shifted to a higher temperature with the application of the magnetic field. In zero field, T IM is almost constant (∼271 K) for all samples except for the sample with the largest grain size, where T IM=265 K. The temperature dependence of resistivity was fitted with several equations in the metallic (ferromagnetic) region and the insulating (paramagnetic) region. The density of states at the Fermi level, N(E F), and the activation energy of electron hopping were estimated by fitting the resistivity versus temperature curves. The ρT 2 curves are nearly linear in the metallic regime, but the ρT 2.5 curves exhibit a deviation from linearity. The variable range hopping model and small polaron hopping model fit the data well in the high-temperature region, indicating the existence of the Jahn–Teller distortion that localizes the charge carriers. MR was found to increase with an increase in the magnetic field, an effect which is attributed to the intergrain spin tunneling effect.  相似文献

A comparative investigation of the magnetic properties of amorphous nanogranular composites (Co41Fe39B20) x (SiO n )100 − x and (Co86Nb12Ta2) x (SiO n )100 − x has been performed in the subpercolation region at temperatures in the range 4.2–300 K. The thermomagnetic dependences in the range 4.2–300 K and the processes of magnetization reversal and remanent magnetization relaxation at liquid-helium temperatures have been studied. It has been established that the average anisotropy constants of amorphous nanograins are equal to 3.6–7.0 kJ/m3 for the (Co41Fe39B20) x (SiO n )100 − x composites and 5–8 kJ/m3 for the (Co86Nb12Ta2) x (SiO n )100 − x composites. The fundamental differences in the concentration dependences of the anisotropy constant K eff and the coercive force H C have been revealed for the two systems under investigation. It has been demonstrated that, as the concentration of the metal phase increases, the quantities K eff and H C increase for the (Co86Nb12Ta2) x (SiO n )100 − x composites and decrease for the (Co41Fe39B20) x (SiO n )100 − x composites.  相似文献

The crystal structure and Raman spectra of Pr0.7Ca0.3MnO3 manganite at high pressures of up to 30 GPa and the magnetic structure at pressures of up to 1 GPa have been studied. A structural phase transition from the orthorhombic phase of the Pnma symmetry to the high-pressure orthorhombic phase of the Imma symmetry has been observed at P ∼ 15 GPa and room temperature. Anomalies of the pressure dependences of the bending and stretching vibrational modes have been observed in the region of the phase transition. A magnetic phase transition from the initial ferromagnetic ground state (T C = 120 K) to the A-type antiferromagnetic state (T N = 140 K) takes place at a relatively low pressure of P = 1 GPa in the low-temperature region. The structural mechanisms of the change of the character of the magnetic ordering have been discussed.  相似文献

A complex investigation of the structural, magnetic, and magnetothermal properties of the Tb0.3Dy0.7Co2 compound synthesized with the use of high-purity rare-earth metals has been performed. The phase composition has been controlled using the X-ray structural analysis, and the topology of the alloy surface has been investigated using atomic-force microscopy. It has been established that the Tb0.3Dy0.7Co2 compound is single-phase, while the samples selected for measurements possess a clearly pronounced texture. The magnetization has been measured using a vibrating-sample magnetometer in the fields up to 100 kOe in a temperature range from 4.2 to 200 K. The Curie temperature of the compound is 170 K. The data on the temperature dependence of heat capacity of Tb0.3Dy0.7Co2 have been obtained. The magnetocaloric effect ΔT has been measured by a direct method in the fields up to 18 kOe applied both along and perpendicularly to the texture axis. The anisotropic behavior of the magnitude ΔT for this compound, which possesses the cubic structure, has been found. The maximum value of the magnetocaloric effect ΔT = 2.3 K (ΔH = 18 kOe) has been observed upon applying the magnetic field along the texture axis.  相似文献
