This paper describes the rate of convergence of solutions of Robin boundary value problems of an elliptic equation to the solution of a Dirichlet problem as a boundary parameter decreases to zero. The results are found using representations for solutions of the equations in terms of Steklov eigenfunctions. Particular interest is in the case where the Dirichlet data is only in L2(,). Various approximation bounds are obtained and the rate of convergence of the Robin approximations in the H1 and L2 norms are shown to have convergence rates that depend on the regularity of the Dirichlet data.  相似文献

We give a procedure for reconstructing a magnetic field and electric potential from boundary measurements given by the Dirichlet to Neumann map for the magnetic Schrödinger operator in R n , n ≥ 3. The magnetic potential is assumed to be continuous with L divergence and zero boundary values. The method is based on semiclassical pseudodifferential calculus and the construction of complex geometrical optics solutions in weighted Sobolev spaces.  相似文献

This paper describes existence, uniqueness and special eigenfunction representations of H1‐solutions of second order, self‐adjoint, elliptic equations with both interior and boundary source terms. The equations are posed on bounded regions with Dirichlet conditions on part of the boundary and Neumann conditions on the complement. The system is decomposed into separate problems defined on orthogonal subspaces of H1(Ω). One problem involves the equation with the interior source term and the Neumann data. The other problem just involves the homogeneous equation with Dirichlet data. Spectral representations of the solution operators for each of these problems are found. The solutions are described using bases that are, respectively, eigenfunctions of the differential operator with mixed null boundary conditions, and certain mixed Steklov eigenfunctions. These series converge strongly in H1(Ω). Necessary and sufficient conditions for the Dirichlet part of the boundary data to have a finite energy extension are described. The solutions for a problem that models a cylindrical capacitor is found explicitly. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We provide regularity results at the boundary for continuous viscosity solutions to nonconvex fully nonlinear uniformly elliptic equations and inequalities in Euclidian domains. We show that (i) any solution of two sided inequalities with Pucci extremal operators is C 1, α on the boundary; (ii) the solution of the Dirichlet problem for fully nonlinear uniformly elliptic equations is C 2, α on the boundary; (iii) corresponding asymptotic expansions hold. This is an extension to viscosity solutions of the classical Krylov estimates for smooth solutions.  相似文献

We study the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation in an infinite rectangular cylinder. Under the assumption that the boundary values are continuous and bounded, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the Dirichlet problem in the class of bounded functions that are continuous on the closed infinite cylinder. Under an additional assumption that the boundary values are twice continuously differentiable on the faces of the infinite cylinder and are periodic in the direction of its edges, we establish that a periodic solution of the Dirichlet problem has continuous and bounded pure second-order derivatives on the closed infinite cylinder except its edges. We apply the grid method in order to find an approximate periodic solution of this Dirichlet problem. Under the same conditions providing a low smoothness of the exact solution, the convergence rate of the grid solution of the Dirichlet problem in the uniform metric is shown to be on the order of O(h 2 ln h −1), where h is the step of a cubic grid.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to examine some aspects of the boundary value problems for harmonic functions in half-spaces related to approximation theory. M. V. Keldyshmentioned curious fact on richness in some sense of the solutions of Dirichlet problem in upper half-plane for a fixed continuous boundary data on the real axis. This can be considered as a model version for the Dirichlet problem with continuous boundary data, defined except a single boundary point, with no restrictions imposed on solutions near that point.Some extensions and multi-dimensional versions of Keldysh’s richness are obtained and related questions on existence, representation and richness of solutions for the Dirichlet and Neumann problems discussed.  相似文献

For a continuous function g ≥ 0 on (0, + ∞) (which may be singular at zero), we confront a quasilinear elliptic differential operator with natural growth in ?u, ? Δu + g(u)|?u|2, with a power type nonlinearity, λu p  + f 0(x). The range of values of the parameter λ for which the associated homogeneous Dirichlet boundary value problem admits positive solutions depends on the behavior of g and on the exponent p. Using bifurcations techniques we deduce sufficient conditions for the boundedness or unboundedness of the cited range.  相似文献

We study the Dirichlet problem for fully nonlinear, degenerate elliptic equations of the form F (Hess u) = 0 on a smoothly bounded domain Ω ? ?n. In our approach the equation is replaced by a subset F ? Sym2(?n) of the symmetric n × n matrices with ?F ? { F = 0}. We establish the existence and uniqueness of continuous solutions under an explicit geometric “F‐convexity” assumption on the boundary ?Ω. We also study the topological structure of F‐convex domains and prove a theorem of Andreotti‐Frankel type. Two key ingredients in the analysis are the use of “subaffine functions” and “Dirichlet duality.” Associated to F is a Dirichlet dual set F? that gives a dual Dirichlet problem. This pairing is a true duality in that the dual of F? is F, and in the analysis the roles of F and F? are interchangeable. The duality also clarifies many features of the problem including the appropriate conditions on the boundary. Many interesting examples are covered by these results including: all branches of the homogeneous Monge‐Ampère equation over ?, ?, and ?; equations appearing naturally in calibrated geometry, Lagrangian geometry, and p‐convex Riemannian geometry; and all branches of the special Lagrangian potential equation. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the global existence and asymptotic behavior of the Boussinesq‐Burgers system subject to the Dirichlet boundary conditions. Based on the Lp(p > 2) estimates of the solution, which are different from the standard L2‐based energy methods, we show that the classical solutions exist globally and converge to their boundary data at an exponential decay rate as time goes to infinity for large initial data. We introduce a new concept of solution for the Dirichlet problem for the total variational flow named entropy solution. Using Kruzhkov's method of doubling variables both in space and in time we prove uniqueness and a comparison principle in L1 for entropy solutions. To prove the existence we use the nonlinear semigroup theory and we show that when the initial and boundary data are nonnegative the semigroup solutions are strong solutions.  相似文献

The uniqueness of solutions to two inverse Sturm–Liouville problems using three spectra is proven, based on the uniqueness of the solution-pair to an overdetermined Goursat–Cauchy boundary value problem. We discuss the uniqueness of the potential for a Dirichlet boundary condition at an arbitrary interior node, and for a Robin boundary condition at an arbitrary interior node, whereas at the exterior nodes we have Dirichlet boundary conditions in both situations. The interest in the use of quasimodes, or almost frequencies and almost eigenfunctions, to describe asymptotics for low‐frequency and high‐frequency vibrations in certain singularly perturbed spectral problems, which depend on a small parameter ε, has been recently highlighted in many papers. In this paper we deal with the low frequencies for a Steklov‐type eigenvalue homogenization problem: we consider harmonic functions in a bounded domain of ?2, and strongly alternating boundary conditions of the Dirichlet and Steklov type on a part of the boundary. The spectral parameter appears in the boundary condition on small segments Tε of size O(ε) periodically distributed along the boundary; ε also measures the periodicity of the structure. We consider associated second‐order evolution problems on spaces of traces that depend on ε, and we provide estimates for the time t in which standing waves, constructed from quasimodes, approach their solutions uε(t) as ε→0. The Cegrell classes with zero boundary data are defined by certain decreasing approximating sequences of functions with different properties depending on the class in question. It is different for Cegrell classes which are given by a continuous function f, these classes are defined by an inequality. It is proved in this article that it is possible to define the Cegrell classes which are given by f in a similar manner as those classes with zero boundary data. An existence result for the Dirichlet problem for certain singular measures is proved. The article ends with three applications. Results connected to convergence in capacity, subextension of plurisubharmonic functions and integrability are proved.  相似文献

This paper describes the solvability of Dirichlet problems for Laplace's equation when the boundary data is not smooth enough for the existence of a weak solution in H1Ω. Scales of spaces of harmonic functions and of boundary traces are defined and the solutions are characterized as limits of classical harmonic functions in special norms. The generalized harmonic functions, and their norms, are defined using series expansions involving harmonic Steklov eigenfunctions on the domain. It is shown that the usual trace operator has a continuous extension to an isometric isomorphism of specific spaces. This provides a characterization of the generalized solutions of harmonic Dirichlet problems. Numerical simulations of a model problem are described. This problem is related to the dewetting of thin films and the associated phenomenology is described.  相似文献

For continuous boundary data, including data of polynomial growth, modified Poisson integrals are used to write solutions to the half space Dirichlet and Neumann problems in Rn. Pointwise growth estimates for these integrals are given and the estimates are proved sharp in a strong sense. For decaying data, a new type of modified Poisson integral is introduced and used to develop asymptotic expansions for solutions of these half space problems.  相似文献

Abstract. We prove that for bounded open sets Ω with continuous boundary, Sobolev spaces of type W 0 l,p (Ω ) are characterized by the zero extension outside of Ω . Combining this with a compactness result for domains of class C, we obtain a general existence theorem for shape optimization problems governed by nonlinear nonhomogenous Dirichlet boundary value problems of arbitrary order, in arbitrary dimension and with general cost functionals.  相似文献

For a family of second‐order elliptic operators with rapidly oscillating periodic coefficients, we study the asymptotic behavior of the Green and Neumann functions, using Dirichlet and Neumann correctors. We consider the Dirichlet problem for non‐divergence parabolic equation with discontinuous in t coefficients in a half space. The main result is weighted coercive estimates of solutions in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. We give an application of this result to linear and quasi‐linear parabolic equations in a bounded domain. Summary Regularity theorems inL 2, θ (ω, δ) spaces are proved for weak solutions of quasielliptic differential equations. In particular, regularization results are obtained in the class of holder continuous functions (with respect to a suitable metric related to the operator). As a consequence, we obtain results and estimates in Lp andL p, θ spaces for the solution of the Dirichlet problem.
