Temperature dependences of the zero drift in a fiber ring interferometer (FRI) without a polarizer in the presence of random inhomogeneities in a single-mode optical fiber in the FRI loop are obtained by numerical simulation. The results are compared with known experimental data. It is shown that FRIs using a superluminescent diode as a source of nonmonochromatic radiation and a loop made of a single-mode optical fiber with weak linear birefringence can find application as low-accuracy fiber-optic gyroscopes and FRIs with a loop made of a single-mode optical fiber with strong linear birefringence can be used as medium-accuracy fiber-optic gyroscopes. 相似文献

In this letter we present a single-mode fiber gyroscope (FOG) with low long-term drift. Only single-mode fiber components except for three fiber depolarizers were used. A simplified mathematic model has been proposed to explain the bias stability of the gyro. Several open-loop and closed-loop FOGs with 0.1–0.5°/h drift have been demonstrated. 相似文献

Bias thermal stability of a fiber-optic gyroscope using polarization-maintaining photonic crystal (PM-PCF) was studied. The thermal sensitivity of birefringence in PM-PCF and polarization cross talking in fiber coil was measured. Using an OCDP method, the polarization cross talking causing phase error of the fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) was analyzed. The contrast experiment result of the FOGs with the PM-PCF coil and PMF coil showed that using PM-PCF instead of PMF can improve the FOG’s bias thermal stability by about 50 %. 相似文献

We report the prediction of the random walk coefficient of a solid-core single-mode polarization-maintaining photonic interferometer fiber optic gyroscope, a novel sensor that exhibits reduced thermal sensitivity owing to the stable temperature coefficient use of a photonic fiber. The random walk coefficient of the photonic interferometer fiber optic gyroscope is limited by detector thermal noise for detected powers under 1 μW and excess noise above 1 μW. Above this power level, the random walk coefficient is found to be independent of detected power and asymptotically to be 0.0029°/ \(\sqrt h \). This result is verified by the experiment. 相似文献

The paper discusses mainly how to check the defects such as fiber-stacking fiber-cut and fiber-uneven with an improved method in the process of fiber optic gyroscope coil winding. In the paper, it is aimed at the gray level image of optic fiber coil winding to get binary image using mathematical morphology and to get optic fiber position image using the improved moving target detection algorithm, on the base of the optic fiber position image, to figure out the relative position of adjacent optic fiber. Through the value of the relative position of adjacent optic fiber, the status of optic fiber winding can be estimated. Experimental results show that the entire image processing and defect detection method can effectively distinguish the defects in the process of optical fiber coil winding. 相似文献

The dual-interference fiber optical gyroscope (DIFOG) is a novel gyroscope that makes use of both birefringent axes in a polarization maintained fiber to generate two Sagnac interferometers. The Sagnac effect is doubled in the DIFOG, resulting in the same precision for a smaller fiber coil and shorter fiber, so it has some potential applications in miniaturized and low-cost situations. The mechanism of polarization nonreciprocity (PNR) in the DIFOG is investigated and the influence of PNR is analyzed theoretically. Simulation results based on the theoretical analysis indicate that PNR error causes the bias of interference signals and the output of the DIFOG to vary with the inherent nonreciprocal phase that arises from the optical configuration. In this paper we investigate the dependence of the bias in the crossover-free interferometric fiber optic gyro versus the temperature gradient applied on the coil. Our approach is to use a finite element method to do thermal analysis to the crossover-free coil. We describe the winding pattern including the location and the length of each turn of the coil. With those data, we are able to compute the bias error induced by the thermal transient effect. On the other hand we study the Shupe effect by temperature excitations from different direction on a fiber coil. In addition a 6-layer of crossover-free gyroscope coils were manufactured. The Shupe test data of the crossover-free coils is taken to verify thermal sensitivity of the coils. 相似文献

通过对Shupe误差数学模型进行分析,确定了引起Shupe误差、导致陀螺零偏误差大的原因之一是闭环光纤陀螺光纤环温度场时空分布不均。利用Ansys Workbench与Icepark软件建立了闭环光纤陀螺敏感单元有限元热模型,并对该模型进行了瞬态与稳态温度场的仿真分析,得出通过改进陀螺外罩设计可以使光纤环温度场分布更加均匀,有助于减小Shupe误差引入的零偏误差。结合仿真结果,进一步对陀螺外罩的几种热设计方案进行了热仿真分析与定量化设计,确定了陀螺外罩的最优设计方案:当内层采用厚度为0.8 mm的软磁合金材料作为隔热层,外层采用厚度为1.5 mm硬铝材料作为均热层时,光纤环的温度时空变化率最小。通过对优化方案进行实验验证,使光纤环在降温过程中温度变化减小了1.8 ℃,使其最高最低点温度差减小了0.68 ℃。 相似文献

An investigation has been performed on the distributed H-parameter in an anisotropic optical fiber with an elliptical strained shell in a multilayer coil of a fiberoptic gyroscope. Each fiber length is ~50 m and there are five layers. Studies have been carried out using three variants of coils. In the first variant, the layers were permeated by epoxy; in the second coil, the layers were permeated with silicon-based material; and, in the third variant, the coils were wound up without impregnation (using dry winding). The different influence of compressive mechanical stresses on the distributed H-parameter of the studied fiber has been observed depending on the variant of coil impregnation. 相似文献

We propose a method for the real-time measurement of the reflection at both splicing points between a photonic bandgap fiber coil and conventional fiber during the process of fusion splicing in a photonic bandgap fiber optical gyroscope(PBFOG), using the interference among the secondary waves, which arise from the fusion splicing points and the mirror face produced by intentionally cutting the bear end of the coupler. The method is theoretically proven and experimentally verified in a practical PBFOG, and it is significant for inline examination of the fusion splicing quality and evaluation of the PBFOG performance. 相似文献

The Shupe effect in a fiber optical gyroscope with polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber was studied. The thermal sensitivitise of the polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber and conventional polarization-maintaining fiber were simulated and measured. Then the Shupe error in the gyroscope was analyzed. 对于大功率激光单模光纤远距离传输, 采用传统的受激拉曼散射(SRS)阈值作为注入光纤激光功率值取值过大。本文对单模光纤远距离传输过程中泵浦光和拉曼斯托克斯光(Stokes)光功率随注入光纤激光功率的变化进行仿真与理论分析。根据光纤中SRS产生的机理, 提出以拉曼Stokes光在单模光纤中传输的光功率变化曲线曲率极大值点对应的注入激光功率为限值, 对注入单模光纤光功率限值随着光纤长度变化进行仿真, 通过曲线拟合得出注入单模光纤激光功率限值公式, 并搭建实验系统进行验证。结果表明, 提出的注入单模光纤激光功率限值适用于大功率激光远距离单模光纤传输。 相似文献
