Energy spectra, angular distributions, and elemental yield distributions have been measured for products Z = 1?9 produced in the reactions of 12C on 12C. A total reaction cross section 1170?100+170 mb was determined from the measured elemental cross sections and the principle of charge conservation. This total reaction cross section is about 250 mb less than the geometric cross section and agrees with the Glauber-model calculations of DeVries and Peng. The experimental energy spectra, angular distributions, and yield distributions were compared with those from model calculations for the statistical decay of the products of fusion and of incomplete fusion reactions. For both types of calculations, a modified version of the code LILITA was used. By comparing the data to model calculations, an upper limit of 75 mb for the fusion cross section was determined. That limit corresponds to an upper limit of Lcrit for fusion of 10? in the sharp-cutoff approximation. The dominant reaction mechanisms appear to be incomplete fusion processes.  相似文献

For the reactions 40Ar+ 165Ho. 169Tm, 174Yb. 115Lu, 176–180Hf, 181Ta, 208Pb and 50Ti + 208Pb, 209Bi the cross sections for the fusion-fission process were determined by measuring energy and time-of-flight of the reaction products. In addition, the neutron-evaporation-residue cross sections were measured by using the velocity filter SHIP. A σ versus 1/E analysis of the fusion-fission cross sections is used to determine fusion barriers and fusion radii. The evaporation- residue cross sections are used to extract in an approximate way barriers for compound-nucleus formation. These barriers are found to agree with the fusion barriers determined from the fission cross sections. For all systems investigated the neutron-evaporation-residue cross sections reach their maximum close to the fusion barrier as calculated from the Bass potential.  相似文献

Fusion excitation functions for the systems 12C + 46, 48, 50Ti, 28, 30Si + 30Si and 18O + 44Ca have been determined at energies near and below the Coulomb barrier. Inelastic excitation functions for the targets 48, 50Ti and 44Ca have been also measured in the same energy range. The absolute cross sections were obtained by in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy technique using a rotating target. Fusion cross sections ranging in magnitude from ~ 0.3 mb to ~ 1300 mb were determined with an accuracy of 10–20%. The fusion excitation functions are analysed in the frame of a semiclassical barrier-penetration model. From the analysis, the height, the radius and the curvature of the fusion barrier for the different systems are extracted. The fusion cross sections are compared with the calculations performed using different heavy-ion potentials. The enhancement of the cross sections at sub-Coulomb energies can be reproduced with a one-dimensional barrier-penetration model taking into account the zero-point motion of the surface of the reaction partners. The fusion cross section of the system 18O + 44Ca is well reproduced by quantum-mechanical calculations, introducing a new degree of freedom taking into account the formation of a neck during the fusion process.  相似文献

Complete fusion reactions (xn-channels) using actinide targets are observed for values of the effective fissilities x eff ∼ 0.80 in the sub-pb range of production cross sections. The elements produced at this limit are Z = 108–112. Beyond complete fusion, heavier elements might still be produced by reaction mechanisms releasing part of the nuclear charge before an equilibrated compound system might have been reached. Precompound Charged particle Emission (PCE) is proposed as a possible mechanism following complete fusion. A scheme delivering isotopes of elements Z = 110–115 is discussed, and experimental evidence for such a process is presented. Compound systems, the atomic numbers of which are smaller than in complete fusion reactions, might be produced in 48Ca induced reactions on actinides with larger cross sections than those at the limits of complete fusion. Besides complete fusion, the PCE-mechanism should be considered as an alternative to interpret the 48Ca-induced reactions on actinides.  相似文献

Evaporation residue cross sections in the 16O+238U reaction were measured for the energy range from above-to extreme subbarrier. We used a He-gas-jet system to transport the fusion products, and the α decay of the evaporation residues was measured by using a rotating wheel system. The measured cross sections for 248,249,250Fm are reproduced by a statistical model calculation, for which partial cross sections are calculated by a coupled-channel model taking into account the prolate deformation of 238U. We conclude that complete fusion is the main process in the subbarrier energy region, and quasifission is not an important channel. The text was submitted by the authors in English. A classical dynamical model is presented for the reaction 20Ne on 197Au. 20Ne is considered as a bound system of five alpha particles which individually interact with the target via a folding potential and frictional forces. Experiments devoted to studying cross sections for fusion and transfer reactions induced by the interaction of beams of halo-like (6He), cluster (6Li and 7Li), and loosely bound (3He) nuclei with nuclei of light and heavy elements are described. The cross sections obtained experimentally for such reactions are analyzed. Special features in the behavior of the cross sections for the formation of evaporation residues and products of transfer reactions at energies in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier are revealed. In particular, an increase in the cross sections for fusion and transfer reactions involving halo-like nuclei and proceeding at energies in the subbarrier region is observed. The cross sections for neutron-transfer and light-cluster-transfer reactions reachmaximum values at an energy in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier for the reaction being considered.  相似文献

The fusion reactions 48Ca + 154Sm and 16O + 186W leading to the same compound nucleus 202Pb are studied within the framework of an improved isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics model. The entrance channel mass asymmetry dependence of compound nucleus formation is found by analyzing the shell correction energies, Coulomb barriers and fusion cross sections. The calculated fusion cross sections agree quantitatively with the experimental data. We conclude that the compound nucleus formation is favorable for the system with larger mass asymmetry.  相似文献

Spectra and angular distributions have been measured for the light particles emitted from the reactions induced by 36 MeV 6Li and 7Li ions on targets of 12C, 13C and 27Al. Some measurements were also performed at beam energies of 28 and 32 MeV. The spectra are dominated by broad peaks centered at energies corresponding to the beam velocity, a characteristic of projectile breakup. A simple breakup model roughly reproduces the shapes of the measured spectra and angular distributions. The total cross sections observed for projectile breakup average about 600 mb and are almost as large as the fusion cross sections. The 7Li breakup yields are somewhat larger than those for 6Li, the same trend that was previously observed for the Li-induced fusion cross sections on C. As a result the measured total reaction cross sections induced by 7Li ions are about 200 mb larger than those of 6Li on the same targets. This difference is not predicted by conventional optical model calculations.  相似文献

Cross sections were measured for the formation of evaporation residues in 48Ca-, 86Kr- and 124 Sn-induced reactions with Yb, Sb and Zr isotopes. For the nearly symmetric systems, the energy dependence of the fusion probability in central collisions was determined. The fusion probability at the expected fusion barrier as calculated from a one-dimensional heavy-ion potential was found to be reduced by several orders of magnitude. The fusion cross sections increase gradually, and only at energies appreciably above the expected fusion barrier the major part of the cross section of central collisions leads to fusion. The observed hindrance of the fusion process is compared with model predictions.  相似文献

Elastic scattering angular distributions have been measured for 7Be + 9Be system at Elab = 17, 19 and 21 MeV in the angular range θcm=26–58°, and for 7Li + 9Be system at Elab= 15.75, 24 and 30 MeV. An optical model (OM) analysis of these data have been carried out. For the 7Li + 9Be system fusion cross sections were obtained at Elab = 15.75, 24 and 30 MeV by measuring the α-evaporation spectra from the compound nucleus at backward angles. The measured α-evaporation spectra were reproduced by the statistical model calculations and fusion cross sections were extracted therefrom. The ratios of the experimental fusion cross sections to the total reaction cross sections (obtained form OM analysis) were found to be rather small. This result suggests that break-up process has a strong influence on fusion process leading to a reduction in fusion cross section.  相似文献

The interaction potentials and fusion cross sections for various nickel and tin isotopes are calculated. The fusion cross sections are computed with allowance for coupling to the channels of low-lying 2+ and 3? vibrational states in the interacting nuclei. Good agreement with the experimental data is obtained. The isotopic dependences of interaction potentials and fusion cross sections of nuclei are analyzed in detail.  相似文献

Nucleus--nucleus potentials are determined in the framework of double folding model for M3Y--Reid and M3Y--Paris effective nucleon--nucleon (NN) interactions. Both zero-range and finite-range exchange parts of NN interactions are considered in the folding procedure. In this paper the spherical projectile--spherical target system 16O+208Pb is selected for calculating the barrier energies, fusion cross sections and barrier distributions with the density-independent and density-dependent NN interactions on the basis of M3Y--Reid and M3Y--Paris NN interactions. The barrier energies become lower for Paris NN interactions in comparison with Reid NN interactions, and also for finite-range exchange part in comparison with zero-range exchange part. The density-dependent NN interactions give similar fusion cross sections and barrier distributions, and the density-independent NN interaction causes the barrier distribution moving to a higher position. However, the density-independent Reid NN interaction with zero-range exchange part gives the lowest fusion cross sections. We find that the calculated fusion cross sections and the barrier distributions are in agreement with the experimental data after renormalization of the nuclear potential due to coupled-channel effect.  相似文献

Total fusion cross sections for the 10B + 12C and 11B + 12C reactions have been determined over a 5 MeV (c.m.) energy range extending to ≈ 3 MeV below the Coulomb barrier. Absolute γ-ray yields for specific transitions in the de-excitation of the heavy products following compound nucleus decay were measured using a Ge(Li) detector. Statistical model calculations of the decay modes of the compound nucleus have been used to deduce, from the γ-ray data, cross sections for single proton, neutron and α-particle emission, and to determine total cross sections for compound nucleus formation. No evidence has been found for sub-Coulomb resonances in either reaction. The total reaction cross sections are compared with optical model calculations using different parameter sets and the observed trend in the very low energy cross sections is discussed relative to other reactions in the same mass region.  相似文献

The partial production cross sections for reaction residues produced by the fusion of 16O with 16O have been measured at Ec.m = 9–30 MeV by detecting the characteristic γ-rays with a Ge(Li) detector. The dominant products are 24Mg and 27A1 corresponding to 2α and αp emission from the compound nucleus, respectively. The total γ-producing cross sections σR were also derived by summing the partial cross sections after correction for the observed (average) γ-ray angular distributions. The trend in the total cross sections is very similar to the trends derived from an optical model or a statistical-evaporation model calculation. The partial production cross sections were compared with other experimental results at 11.9 MeV and 30 MeV and with the results of the statistical-model calculation. It is concluded that the treatment of angular momentum in the calculation is inadequate for describing the partial cross sections. Structure in the partial and total cross section excitation functions is observed with minima occurring at Ec.m. = 27, 24, 20, 17.5, and possibly 15 MeV. Some of this structure is well established by the statistical accuracy of the data and most, but perhaps not all of it, is correlated in the various channels. This structure is compared with that observed in another experiment and some of its implications are discussed.  相似文献

Fusion excitation functions for 32S induced reactions on 24Mg, 27Al, 40Ca and 58Ni are reported at incident 32S ion energies of 65 to 132.5 MeV. Measurements were made using counter-telescopes with beams from Van de Graaff accelerators. From these data barrier heights and radii for fusion are extracted. These results are interpreted in terms of the nuclear diftuseness, and the nuclear attractive potentials at the fusion radii are deduced. Relative density overlaps at the fusion radius are estimated from electron scattering density distributions. Several parameterizations for the fusion radii and barrier heights are presented. Fusion cross sections are compared with reaction cross sections based on elastic scattering measurements coupled with optical model analysis. It is found that for the systems investigated, 90±10 % of the reaction cross section results in fusion.  相似文献

The production cross sections of the isotopes252102,253102, and254102 were measured for the heavy ion fusion reactions of22Ne+236U and26Mg+232Th by using the kinematic separator VASSILISSA. The obtained excitation functions and the maximum production cross sections are compared with the ones for more asymmetric reactions leading to the same compound nucleus258102.
