This paper is devoted to the study of Lyapunov type inequalities for periodic conservative systems. The main results are derived from a previous analysis which relates the best Lyapunov constants to some especial (constrained or unconstrained) minimization problems. We provide some new results on the existence and uniqueness of solutions of nonlinear resonant and periodic systems. Finally, we present some new conditions which guarantee the stable boundedness of linear periodic conservative systems.  相似文献

We study the existence of positive solutions and of positive homoclinic (to zero) solutions for a class of periodic problems driven by the scalar ordinary p-Laplacian and having a nonsmooth potential. Our approach is variational based on the nonsmooth critical point theory and our results extend the recent works of Korman–Lazer (Electronic JDE (1994)) and of Grossinho–Minhos–Tersian (J. Math. In this paper, we will prove the existence of infinitely many harmonic and subharmonic solutions for the second order differential equation + g(x) = f(t, x) using the phase plane analysis methods and Poincaré–Birkhoff Theorem, where the nonlinear restoring field g exhibits superlinear conditions near the infinity and strong singularity at the origin, and f(t, x) = a(t)x γ + b(t, x) where 0 ≤ γ ≤ 1 and b(t, x) is bounded. In this paper, two existence results for a class of second order periodic boundary value problems with non-smooth potential are obtained. We extend the Castro-Lazer-Thews reduction method to non-smooth functionals, the obtained result is then exploited to prove the existence of a nontrivial solution. Furthermore, we prove the existence of multiple solutions by using a multiplicity result based on local linking.  相似文献

Abstract

The properties of the limit cycle of a generalised van der Pol equation of the form ü + u = ε (1—u2n)u, where ε is small and n is any positive integer, are investigated by applying a time transformation perturbation method due to Burton. It is found that as n increases the amplitude of the limit cycle oscillation decreases and its period increases. The time transformation solution is compared with the solution derived using the method of multiple scales and with a numerical solution. It is found that, to first order in ε, the time transformation solution for the limit cycle agrees better with the numerical solution than the multiple scales solution. Both perturbation solutions give the same result for the period of the limit cycle to second order in ε. The accuracy of the time transformation solution decreases as n increases.  相似文献

We considered a semilinear, second order periodic system. We assumed that the differential operator x→−x−AxxxAx has zero as an eigenvalue and has no negative eigenvalues. Also we imposed a strong resonance condition (with respect to the zero eigenvalue) on the potential function F(t,x)F(t,x). Using the second deformation theorem, we established the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions. To do this we needed to conduct a detailed analysis of the Cerami compactness condition, which is actually of independent interest.  相似文献

We consider the synchronization of a network of linearly coupled and not necessarily identical oscillators. We present an approach to the existence of the synchronization manifold which is based on some results developed by R. Smith for the study of periodic solutions of ODEs. Our framework allows the study of a large class of systems and does not assume that they are small perturbations of linear systems. Moreover, it provides a practical way to compute estimations on the parameters of the system for which generalized synchronization occurs. Additionally, we give a new proof of the main result of R. Smith on invariant manifolds using Wazewski's principle. Several examples of application are presented.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear periodic equation driven by the scalar p-Laplacian and with a Caratheodory asymptotically (p−1)-linear nonlinearity. Using variational methods coupled with suitable truncation techniques, we show that the problem has at least two positive solutions. For the semilinear case (p=2), using Morse theory we show that the problem has three distinct positive solutions.  相似文献
