The singularity manifold equation of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, the so-called Krichever-Novikov equation, has an exact linearization to an overdetermined system of partial differential equations in three independent variables. We study in detail the Cauchy problem for this system as an example for the use of the formal theory of differential equations. A general existence and uniqueness theorem is established. Formal theory is then contrasted with Janet-Riquier theory in the formulation of Reid. Finally, the implications of the results for the Krichever-Novikov equation are outlined.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a mathematical model describing a dynamic linear elastic contact problem with nonmonotone skin effects. The subdifferential multivalued and multidimensional reaction–displacement law is employed. We treat an evolution hemivariational inequality of hyperbolic type which is a weak formulation of this mechanical problem. We establish a result on the existence of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the hemivariational inequality. This result is a consequence of an existence theorem for second order evolution inclusion. For the latter, using the parabolic regularization method, we obtain the solution as a limit when the viscosity term tends to zero.  相似文献

In this paper, we solve the Riemann problem with the initial data containing Dirac delta functions for a class of coupled hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. Under suitably generalized Rankine–Hugoniot relation and entropy condition, the existence and uniqueness of solutions involving delta shock waves are proved. We investigate solvability of a fractional analogue of the Neumann problem for the Laplace equation. As a boundary operator we consider operators of fractional differentiation in the Hadamard sense. In this paper, a one-dimensional nonisentropic hydrodynamic model for semiconductors with non-constant lattice temperature is studied. The model is self-consistent in the sense that the electric field, which forms a forcing term in the momentum equation, is determined by the coupled Poisson equation. The existence and uniqueness of the corresponding stationary solutions are investigated carefully under proper conditions. Then, global existence of the smooth solutions for the Cauchy problem with initial data, which are perturbations of stationary solutions, is established. It is shown that these smooth solutions tend to the stationary solutions exponentially fast as t → ∞.   相似文献

In this paper, we consider the local existence of solutions to Euler equations with linear damping under the assumption of physical vacuum boundary condition. By using the transformation introduced in Lin and Yang (Methods Appl. Anal. 7 (3) (2000) 495) to capture the singularity of the boundary, we prove a local existence theorem on a perturbation of a planar wave solution by using Littlewood-Paley theory and justifies the transformation introduced in Liu and Yang (2000) in a rigorous setting.  相似文献

This paper deals with the Cauchy problem for nonlinear first order partial functional differential equations. The unknown function is the functional variable in the equation and the partial derivatives appear in a classical sense. A theorem on the local existence of a generalized solution is proved. The initial problem is transformed into a system of functional integral equations for an unknown function and for their partial derivatives with respect to spatial variables. The existence of solutions of this system is proved by using a method of successive approximations. A method of bicharacteristics and integral inequalities are applied.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a double fronts free boundary problem for the heat equation with a localized nonlinear reaction term. The local existence and uniqueness of the solution are given by applying the contraction mapping theorem. Then we present some conditions so that the solution blows up in finite time. Finally, the long-time behavior of the global solution is discussed. We show that the solution is global and fast if the initial data is small and that a global slow solution is possible when the initial data is suitably large.  相似文献

The ignition problem for the scalar Chapman-Jouguet combustion model without convexity is considered. Under the pointwise and global entropy conditions, we constructively obtain the existence and uniqueness of the solution and show that the unburnt state is stable (unstable) when the binding energy is small (large), which is the desired property for a combustion model. In this paper, we consider the initial-boundary value problem for the three-dimensional viscous primitive equations of large-scale moist atmosphere which are used to describe the turbulent behavior of long-term weather prediction and climate changes. In this paper, we derive the existence and uniqueness of the solution for a class of generalized reflected backward stochastic differential equations (GRBSDEs in short) driven by a Lévy process, which involve the integral with respect to a continuous process by means of the Snell envelope, the penalization method and the fixed point theorem. In addition, we obtain the comparison theorem for the solutions of the GRBSDEs. This paper concerns the uniqueness of the bounded solution to a strongly degenerate parabolic problem. The equation considered may have two kinds of strong degeneracies and there is no restriction on the relation between the two degeneracies. In this paper, we establish the existence and uniqueness theorem for solutions of the exterior Dirichlet problem for Hessian quotient equations with prescribed asymptotic behavior at infinity. This extends the previous related results on the Monge–Ampère equations and on the Hessian equations, and rearranges them in a systematic way. Based on the Perron's method, the main ingredient of this paper is to construct some appropriate subsolutions of the Hessian quotient equation, which is realized by introducing some new quantities about the elementary symmetric polynomials and using them to analyze the corresponding ordinary differential equation related to the generalized radially symmetric subsolutions of the original equation.  相似文献
