Recently, new higher order finite volume methods (FVM) were introduced in [Z. Cai, J. Douglas, M. Park, Development and analysis of higher order finite volume methods over rectangles for elliptic equations, Adv. Comput. Math. 19 (2003) 3-33], where the linear system derived by the hybridization with Lagrange multiplier satisfying the flux consistency condition is reduced to a linear system for a pressure variable by an appropriate quadrature rule. We study the convergence of an iterative solver for this linear system. The conjugate gradient (CG) method is a natural choice to solve the system, but it seems slow, possibly due to the non-diagonal dominance of the system. In this paper, we propose block iterative methods with a reordering scheme to solve the linear system derived by the higher order FVM and prove their convergence. With a proper ordering, each block subproblem can be solved by fast methods such as the multigrid (MG) method. The numerical experiments show that these block iterative methods are much faster than CG.  相似文献

In this paper we establish the existence and the uniqueness of positive solutions for Dirichlet boundary value problems of nonlinear elliptic equations with singularity. We obtain the existence and the uniqueness by using the mixed monotone method in the cone theory. Moreover, we give an iterative method of constructing the solution. The rate of convergence of the iterative sequence is analyzed.  相似文献

In this paper we design higher-order time integrators for systems of stiff ordinary differential equations. We combine implicit Runge–Kutta and BDF methods with iterative operator-splitting methods to obtain higher-order methods. The idea of decoupling each complicated operator in simpler operators with an adapted time scale allows to solve the problems more efficiently. We compare our new methods with the higher-order fractional-stepping Runge–Kutta methods, developed for stiff ordinary differential equations. The benefit is the individual handling of each operator with adapted standard higher-order time integrators. The methods are applied to equations for convection–diffusion reactions and we obtain higher-order results. Finally we discuss the applications of the iterative operator-splitting methods to multi-dimensional and multi-physical problems.  相似文献

Motivated by the idea of imposing paralleling computing on solving stochastic differential equations (SDEs), we introduce a new domain decomposition scheme to solve forward–backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs) parallel. We reconstruct the four step scheme in Ma et al. (1994) [1] and then associate it with the idea of domain decomposition methods. We also introduce a new technique to prove the convergence of domain decomposition methods for systems of quasilinear parabolic equations and use it to prove the convergence of our scheme for the FBSDEs.  相似文献

In the study of iterative methods with high order of convergence, Gander provides a general expression for iterative methods with order of convergence at least three in the scalar case. Taking into account an extension of this result, we define a family of iterations in Banach spaces with R-order of convergence at least four for quadratic equations.  相似文献

The geometrical interpretation of a family of higher order iterative methods for solving nonlinear scalar equations was presented in [S. Amat, S. Busquier, J.M. Gutiérrez, Geometric constructions of iterative functions to solve nonlinear equations. J. Comput. Appl. Math. 157(1) (2003) 197-205]. This family includes, as particular cases, some of the most famous third-order iterative methods: Chebyshev methods, Halley methods, super-Halley methods, C-methods and Newton-type two-step methods. The aim of the present paper is to analyze the convergence of this family for equations defined between two Banach spaces by using a technique developed in [J.A. Ezquerro, M.A. Hernández, Halley’s method for operators with unbounded second derivative. Appl. Numer. Math. 57(3) (2007) 354-360]. This technique allows us to obtain a general semilocal convergence result for these methods, where the usual conditions on the second derivative are relaxed. On the other hand, the main practical difficulty related to the classical third-order iterative methods is the evaluation of bilinear operators, typically second-order Fréchet derivatives. However, in some cases, the second derivative is easy to evaluate. A clear example is provided by the approximation of Hammerstein equations, where it is diagonal by blocks. We finish the paper by applying our methods to some nonlinear integral equations of this type.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with splitting methods for the time integration of abstract evolution equations. We introduce an analytic framework which allows us to prove optimal convergence orders for various splitting methods, including the Lie and Peaceman–Rachford splittings. Our setting is applicable for a wide variety of linear equations and their dimension splittings. In particular, we analyze parabolic problems with Dirichlet boundary conditions, as well as degenerate equations on bounded domains. We further illustrate our theoretical results with a set of numerical experiments. This work was supported by the Austrian Science Fund under grant M961-N13.  相似文献

In this paper we consider Runge-Kutta methods for jump-diffusion differential equations. We present a study of their mean-square convergence properties for problems with multiplicative noise. We are concerned with two classes of Runge-Kutta methods. First, we analyse schemes where the drift is approximated by a Runge-Kutta ansatz and the diffusion and jump part by a Maruyama term and second we discuss improved methods where mixed stochastic integrals are incorporated in the approximation of the next time step as well as the stage values of the Runge-Kutta ansatz for the drift. The second class of methods are specifically developed to improve the accuracy behaviour of problems with small noise. We present results showing when the implicit stochastic equations defining the stage values of the Runge-Kutta methods are uniquely solvable. Finally, simulation results illustrate the theoretical findings.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider an incompressible quasi-Newtonian flow with a temperature dependent viscosity obeying a power law, and the thermal balance includes viscous heating. Some mathematical results such as the existence and uniqueness are established, finite element approximation based on an iterative solution scheme is proposed, and convergence analysis is presented.  相似文献

We consider a semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problem with jumping nonlinearity and, using variational methods, we show that the number of solutions tends to infinity as the number of jumped eigenvalues tends to infinity. In order to prove this fact, for every positive integer k we prove that, when a parameter is large enough, there exists a solution which presents k interior peaks. We also describe the asymptotic behaviour and the profile of this solution as the parameter tends to infinity.  相似文献

In this article, we consider iterative operator‐splitting methods for nonlinear differential equations with bounded and unbounded operators. The main feature of the proposed idea is the embedding of Newton's method for solving the split parts of the nonlinear equation at each step. The convergence properties of such a mixed method are studied and demonstrated. We confirm with numerical applications the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in comparison with the standard operator‐splitting methods by providing improved results and convergence rates. We apply our results to deposition processes. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 27: 1026–1054, 2011  相似文献

An iterative method is proposed to find a particular solution of a system of linear differential equations, in the form of a fixed-point problem, with no boundary conditions. To circumvent the unboundedness of differential operators, iterative approximation with gradually decreasing weight is used. Conditions for convergence that can easily be checked in numerical iterations are established. Furthermore, for the numerical iterative scheme, uniqueness and stability theorems are proved. These results are applied to heat conduction of ideal gases in moment theory.  相似文献

We study an iterative method with order for solving nonlinear operator equations in Banach spaces. Algorithms for specific operator equations are built up. We present the received new results of the local and semilocal convergence, in case when the first-order divided differences of a nonlinear operator are Hölder continuous. Moreover a quadratic nonlinear majorant for a nonlinear operator, according to the conditions laid upon it, is built. A priori and a posteriori estimations of the method’s error are received. The method needs almost the same number of computations as the classical Secant method, but has a higher order of convergence. We apply our results to the numerical solving of a nonlinear boundary value problem of second-order and to the systems of nonlinear equations of large dimension.  相似文献

Linear systems arising from implicit time discretizations and finite difference space discretizations of second-order hyperbolic equations in two dimensions are considered. We propose and analyze the use of circulant preconditioners for the solution of linear systems via preconditioned iterative methods such as the conjugate gradient method. Our motivation is to exploit the fast inversion of circulant systems with the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). For second-order hyperbolic equations with initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions, we prove that the condition number of the preconditioned system is ofO() orO(m), where is the quotient between the time and space steps andm is the number of interior gridpoints in each direction. The results are extended to parabolic equations. Numerical experiments also indicate that the preconditioned systems exhibit favorable clustering of eigenvalues that leads to a fast convergence rate.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with monotone algorithms for the finite difference solutions of a class of nonlinear reaction-diffusion-convection equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. A modified accelerated monotone iterative method is presented to solve the finite difference systems for both the time-dependent problem and its corresponding steady-state problem. This method leads to a simple and yet efficient linear iterative algorithm. It yields two sequences of iterations that converge monotonically from above and below, respectively, to a unique solution of the system. The monotone property of the iterations gives concurrently improving upper and lower bounds for the solution. It is shown that the rate of convergence for the sum of the two sequences is quadratic. Under an additional requirement, quadratic convergence is attained for one of these two sequences. In contrast with the existing accelerated monotone iterative methods, our new method avoids computing local maxima in the construction of these sequences. An application using a model problem gives numerical results that illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

We study uniformly elliptic fully nonlinear equations of the type F(D2u,Du,u,x)=f(x). We show that convex positively 1-homogeneous operators possess two principal eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, and study these objects; we obtain existence and uniqueness results for nonproper operators whose principal eigenvalues (in some cases, only one of them) are positive; finally, we obtain an existence result for nonproper Isaac's equations.  相似文献

Summary This paper is a continuation of our previous work [10] on projection methods. We study first existing higher order projection schemes in the semidiscretized form for the Navier-Stokes equations. One error analysis suggests that the precision of these schemes is most likely plagued by the inconsistent Neumann boundary condition satisfied by the pressure approximations. We then propose a penalty-projection scheme for which we obtain improved error estimates. This work is partially supported by NSF grant MS-8802596.  相似文献

In this article, we first introduce an iterative method based on the hybrid viscosity approximation method and the hybrid steepest-descent method for finding a fixed point of a Lipschitz pseudocontractive mapping (assuming existence) and prove that our proposed scheme has strong convergence under some mild conditions imposed on algorithm parameters in real Hilbert spaces. Next, we introduce a new iterative method for a solution of a nonlinear integral equation of Hammerstein type and obtain strong convergence in real Hilbert spaces. Our results presented in this article generalize and extend the corresponding results on Lipschitz pseudocontractive mapping and nonlinear integral equation of Hammerstein type reported by some authors recently. We compare our iterative scheme numerically with other iterative scheme for solving non-linear integral equation of Hammerstein type to verify the efficiency and implementation of our new method.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the convergence behavior of a Runge–Kutta type modified Landweber method for nonlinear ill-posed operator equations. In order to improve the stability and convergence of the Landweber iteration, a 2-stage Gauss-type Runge–Kutta method is applied to the continuous analogy of the modified Landweber method, to give a new modified Landweber method, called R–K type modified Landweber method. Under some appropriate conditions, we prove the convergence of the proposed method. We conclude with a numerical example confirming the theoretical results, including comparisons to the modified Landweber iteration.  相似文献

Summary Multigrid methods are applied for solving algebraic systems of equations that occur to the numerical treatment of boundary integral equations of the first and second kind. These methods, originally formulated for partial differential equations of elliptic type, combine relaxation schemes and coarse grid corrections. The choice of the relaxation scheme is found to be essential to attain a fast convergent iterative process. Theoretical investigations show that the presented relaxation scheme provides a multigrid algorithm of which the rate of convergence increases with the dimension of the finest grid. This is illustrated for the calculation of potential flow around an aerofoil.  相似文献
