In this paper, we present a finite difference scheme for the solution of an initial-boundary value problem of the Schrödinger-Boussinesq equation. The scheme is fully implicit and conserves two invariable quantities of the system. We investigate the existence of the solution for the scheme, give computational process for the numerical solution and prove convergence of iteration method by which a nonlinear algebra system for unknown Vn+1 is solved. On the basis of a priori estimates for a numerical solution, the uniqueness, convergence and stability for the difference solution is discussed. Numerical experiments verify the accuracy of our method.  相似文献

Non-oscillatory schemes are widely used in numerical approximations of nonlinear conservation laws. The Nessyahu–Tadmor (NT) scheme is an example of a second order scheme that is both robust and simple. In this paper, we prove a new stability property of the NT scheme based on the standard minmod reconstruction in the case of a scalar strictly convex conservation law. This property is similar to the One-sided Lipschitz condition for first order schemes. Using this new stability, we derive the convergence of the NT scheme to the exact entropy solution without imposing any nonhomogeneous limitations on the method. We also derive an error estimate for monotone initial data.  相似文献

In this article, we consider Stokes’ first problem for a heated generalized second grade fluid with fractional derivative (SFP-HGSGF). Implicit and explicit numerical approximation schemes for the SFP-HGSGF are presented. The stability and convergence of the numerical schemes are discussed using a Fourier method. In addition, the solvability of the implicit numerical approximation scheme is also analyzed. A Richardson extrapolation technique for improving the order of convergence of the implicit scheme is proposed. Finally, a numerical test is given. The numerical results demonstrate the good performance of our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Summary. An initial--boundary value problem to a system of nonlinear partial differential equations, which consists of a hyperbolic and a parabolic part, is taken into consideration. The problem is discretised by a compact finite difference method. An approximation of the numerical solution is constructed, at which the difference scheme is linearised. Nonlinear convergence is proved using the stability of the linearised scheme. Finally, a computational experiment for a noncompact scheme is presented. Received May 20, 1995  相似文献

A nonlinear finite difference scheme with high accuracy is studied for a class of two-dimensional nonlinear coupled parabolic-hyperbolic system. Rigorous theoretical analysis is made for the stability and convergence properties of the scheme, which shows it is unconditionally stable and convergent with second order rate for both spatial and temporal variables. In the argument of theoretical results, difficulties arising from the nonlinearity and coupling between parabolic and hyperbolic equations are overcome, by an ingenious use of the method of energy estimation and inductive hypothesis reasoning. The reasoning method here differs from those used for linear implicit schemes, and can be widely applied to the studies of stability and convergence for a variety of nonlinear schemes for nonlinear PDE problems. Numerical tests verify the results of the theoretical analysis. Particularly it is shown that the scheme is more accurate and faster than a previous two-level nonlinear scheme with first order temporal accuracy.  相似文献

Summary. We consider a fully practical finite element approximation of the fourth order nonlinear degenerate parabolic equation where generically for any given . An iterative scheme for solving the resulting nonlinear discrete system is analysed. In addition to showing well-posedness of our approximation, we prove convergence in one space dimension. Finally some numerical experiments are presented. Received July 29, 1997  相似文献

This work deals with the efficient numerical solution of a class of nonlinear time-dependent reaction-diffusion equations. Via the method of lines approach, we first perform the spatial discretization of the original problem by applying a mimetic finite difference scheme. The system of ordinary differential equations arising from that process is then integrated in time with a linearly implicit fractional step method. For that purpose, we locally decompose the discrete nonlinear diffusion operator using suitable Taylor expansions and a domain decomposition splitting technique. The totally discrete scheme considers implicit time integrations for the linear terms while explicitly handling the nonlinear ones. As a result, the original problem is reduced to the solution of several linear systems per time step which can be trivially decomposed into a set of uncoupled parallelizable linear subsystems. The convergence of the proposed methods is illustrated by numerical experiments.  相似文献

An Engquist-Osher type finite difference scheme is derived for dealing with scalar conservation laws having a flux that is spatially dependent through a possibly discontinuous coefficient. The new monotone difference scheme is based on introducing a new interface numerical flux function, which is called a generalized Engquist-Osher flux. By means of this scheme, the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to the scalar conservation laws are obtained and the convergence theorem is established. Some numerical examples are presented and the corresponding numerical results are displayed to illustrate the efficiency of the methods.  相似文献

In this article, a class of nonlinear evolution equations – reaction–diffusion equations with time delay – is studied. By combining the domain decomposition technique and the finite difference method, the results for the existence, convergence and the stability of the numerical solution are obtained in the case of subdomain overlap and when the time-space is completely discretized. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with monotone algorithms for the finite difference solutions of a class of nonlinear reaction-diffusion-convection equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. A modified accelerated monotone iterative method is presented to solve the finite difference systems for both the time-dependent problem and its corresponding steady-state problem. This method leads to a simple and yet efficient linear iterative algorithm. It yields two sequences of iterations that converge monotonically from above and below, respectively, to a unique solution of the system. The monotone property of the iterations gives concurrently improving upper and lower bounds for the solution. It is shown that the rate of convergence for the sum of the two sequences is quadratic. Under an additional requirement, quadratic convergence is attained for one of these two sequences. In contrast with the existing accelerated monotone iterative methods, our new method avoids computing local maxima in the construction of these sequences. An application using a model problem gives numerical results that illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this article we consider iterative operator-splitting methods for nonlinear differential equations with respect to their eigenvalues. The main focus of the proposed idea is the fixed-point iterative scheme that linearizes our underlying equations. On the basis of the approximated eigenvalues of such linearized systems we choose the order of the operators for our iterative splitting scheme. The convergence properties of such a mixed method are studied and demonstrated. We confirm with numerical applications the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in comparison with the standard operator-splitting methods by providing improved results and convergence rates. We apply our results to deposition processes.  相似文献

In this work, the numerical approximation of a viscoelastic contact problem is studied. The classical Kelvin-Voigt constitutive law is employed, and contact is assumed with a deformable obstacle and modelled using the normal compliance condition. The variational formulation leads to a nonlinear parabolic variational equation. An existence and uniqueness result is recalled. Then, a fully discrete scheme is introduced, by using the finite element method to approximate the spatial variable and the implicit Euler scheme to discretize time derivatives. A priori error estimates recently proved for this problem are recalled. Then, an a posteriori error analysis is provided, extending some preliminary results obtained in the study of the heat equation and other parabolic equations. Upper and lower error bounds are proved. Finally, some numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and the numerical behaviour of the error estimates.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze a first-order time discretization scheme for a nonlinear geodynamo model and carry out the convergence analysis of this numerical scheme. It is concluded that our numerical scheme converges with first-order accuracy in the sense of L2L2-norm with respect to the velocity field uu and the magnetic field BB and with half-order accuracy in time for the total kinematic pressure P.  相似文献

We study dislocation dynamics with a level set point of view. The model we present here looks at the zero level set of the solution of a non local Hamilton Jacobi equation, as a dislocation in a plane of a crystal. The front has a normal speed, depending on the solution itself. We prove existence and uniqueness for short time in the set of continuous viscosity solutions. We also present a first order finite difference scheme for the corresponding level set formulation of the model. The scheme is based on monotone numerical Hamiltonian, proposed by Osher and Sethian. The non local character of the problem makes it not monotone. We obtain an explicit convergence rate of the approximate solution to the viscosity solution. We finally provide numerical simulations. This work has been supported by funds from ACI JC 1041 “Mouvements d’interfaces avec termes non-locaux”, from ACI-JC 1025 “Dynamique des dislocations” and from ONERA, Office National d’Etudes et de Recherches. We consider a numerical scheme for a class of degenerate parabolic equations, including both slow and fast diffusion cases. A particular example in this sense is the Richards equation modeling the flow in porous media. The numerical scheme is based on the mixed finite element method (MFEM) in space, and is of one step implicit in time. The lowest order Raviart–Thomas elements are used. Here we extend the results in Radu et al. (SIAM J Numer Anal 42:1452–1478, 2004), Schneid et al. (Numer Math 98:353–370, 2004) to a more general framework, by allowing for both types of degeneracies. We derive error estimates in terms of the discretization parameters and show the convergence of the scheme. The features of the MFEM, especially of the lowest order Raviart–Thomas elements, are now fully exploited in the proof of the convergence. The paper is concluded by numerical examples.  相似文献

An accurate and efficient numerical approach, based on a finite difference method with Crank-Nicolson time stepping, is proposed for the Landau-Lifshitz equation without damping. The phenomenological Landau-Lifshitz equation describes the dynamics of ferromagnetism. The Crank-Nicolson method is very popular in the numerical schemes for parabolic equations since it is second-order accurate in time. Although widely used, the method does not always produce accurate results when it is applied to the Landau-Lifshitz equation. The objective of this article is to enumerate the problems and then to propose an accurate and robust numerical solution algorithm. A discrete scheme and a numerical solution algorithm for the Landau-Lifshitz equation are described. A nonlinear multigrid method is used for handling the nonlinearities of the resulting discrete system of equations at each time step. We show numerically that the proposed scheme has a second-order convergence in space and time.  相似文献

We propose and analyze a numerical scheme for nonlinear degenerate parabolic convection–diffusion–reaction equations in two or three space dimensions. We discretize the diffusion term, which generally involves an inhomogeneous and anisotropic diffusion tensor, over an unstructured simplicial mesh of the space domain by means of the piecewise linear nonconforming (Crouzeix–Raviart) finite element method, or using the stiffness matrix of the hybridization of the lowest-order Raviart–Thomas mixed finite element method. The other terms are discretized by means of a cell-centered finite volume scheme on a dual mesh, where the dual volumes are constructed around the sides of the original mesh. Checking the local Péclet number, we set up the exact necessary amount of upstream weighting to avoid spurious oscillations in the convection-dominated case. This technique also ensures the validity of the discrete maximum principle under some conditions on the mesh and the diffusion tensor. We prove the convergence of the scheme, only supposing the shape regularity condition for the original mesh. We use a priori estimates and the Kolmogorov relative compactness theorem for this purpose. The proposed scheme is robust, only 5-point (7-point in space dimension three), locally conservative, efficient, and stable, which is confirmed by numerical experiments. This work was supported by the GdR MoMaS, CNRS-2439, ANDRA, BRGM, CEA, EdF, France.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze two new second-order characteristic schemes in time and age for an age-structured population model with nonlinear diffusion and reaction. By using the characteristic difference to approximate the transport term and the average along the characteristics to treat the nonlinear spatial diffusion and reaction terms, an implicit second-order characteristic scheme is proposed. To compute the nonlinear approximation system, an explicit second-order characteristic scheme in time and age is further proposed by using the extrapolation technique. The global existence and uniqueness of the solution of the nonlinear approximation scheme are established by using the theory of variation methods, Schauder’s fixed point theorem, and the technique of prior estimates. The optimal error estimates of second order in time and age are strictly proved for both the implicit and the explicit characteristic schemes. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the methods.  相似文献
