The velocityv of the propagation of discharge along the anode of a self-quenchingG—M-counter is a function of total pressureP, pressure of the quenching gasP D, radius of the cathoder a and of the anoder i andV ü the difference between working- and starting-potential. For the mixtures argon-methylal, argon-alcohol and helium-alcohol isv=v 0·exp[k·(V ü/V e)1/2] withv 0 the velocity at the starting potentialV e v 0=(a+b·P D/PV n 1/2 ·exp [(c?d·PD/P·V n ?1/2 ] andV n=V e·(lnr a/r i)?1.k, a, b, c andd are characteristical constants of the filling gas.  相似文献

We consider a discrete scalar, quantum field theory based on a cubic 4-dimensional lattice. We mainly investigate a discrete scattering operator S(x 0,r) where x 0 and r are positive integers representing time and maximal total energy, respectively. The operator S(x 0,r) is used to define transition amplitudes which are then employed to compute transition probabilities. These probabilities are conditioned on the time-energy (x 0,r). In order to maintain total unit probability, the transition probabilities need to be reconditioned at each (x 0,r). This is roughly analogous to renormalization in standard quantum field theory, except no infinities or singularities are involved. We illustrate this theory with a simple scattering experiment involving a common interaction Hamiltonian. We briefly mention how discreteness of spacetime might be tested astronomically. Moreover, these tests may explain the existence of dark energy and dark matter.  相似文献

In order to obtain a regular but energy-dependent nuclear potential, the following modification of the separation method ofMoszkowski andScott is used: we replace the nuclear potentialv c (r) by a long-range potentialv l (r)=v c (r) Θ(r? d 0) together with a short-range energy dependent repulsionv s =h(k) Θ(r c ?r), whered 0 is the separation distance for vanishing energy andr c is the hard-core radius. The potentialv=v s +v l (r) is fitted to theS-wave scattering data and the binding energy of the deuteron.h(k) turns out to be almost proportional to the scattering energyE rel for energiesE rel<150 MeV.  相似文献

We propose the finite-size scaling of correlation functions in finite systems near their critical points. At a distance r in a ddimensional finite system of size L,the correlation function can be written as the product of|r|~(-(d-2+η))and a finite-size scaling function of the variables r/L and tL~(1/ν),where t=(T-T_c)/T_c,ηis the critical exponent of correlation function, andνis the critical exponent of correlation length. The correlation function only has a sigificant directional dependence when|r|is compariable to L.We then confirm this finite-size scaling by calculating the correlation functions of the two-dimensional Ising model and the bond percolation in two-dimensional lattices using Monte Carlo simulations. We can use the finite-size scaling of the correlation function to determine the critical point and the critical exponentη.  相似文献

The decomposition of the ground state wave function of a Fermi gas interacting via hard core potentials into cluster functionsS n leads to a systematic expansion of wave function and energy in powers of the parameterc=P F r c (r c =hard core radius,P F =Fermi momentum). For instance,S n has the order of magnitudec n-λ-1, if λ=number of Fermion coordinates with distances smaller thanr c . The first three energy terms agree with the ones given by other authors. Any occurrence of singular terms in the intermediate steps of the derivation can be avoided  相似文献

We discuss the finite-temperature generalization of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The theory is directly analogous to that at temperature T = 0. For example, the finite-T TDDFT exchange-correlation kernel fxc(T, n) in the local density approximation can again be expressed as a density derivative of the exchange correlation potential fxc(T, n) = [?vxc(T, n)∕?n]δ(r ? r), where n = NV is the electron number density. An approximation for the kernel fxc(T, n) is obtained from the finite-T generalization of the retarded cumulant expansion applied to the homogeneous electron gas. Results for fxc and the loss function are presented for a wide range of temperatures and densities including the warm dense matter regime, where TTF, the electron degeneracy temperature. The theory also permits a physical interpretation of the exchange and correlation contributions to the theory.  相似文献

We propose a model for charged anisotropic star in de Sitter spacetime. We have taken Krori and Barua (J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 8, 508, 1975) metric in de Sitter spacetime with non-zero cosmological constant. The model is free from singularity. We incorporate the existence of the cosmological constant on a small scale to study the structure of anisotropic charged star. To solve the Einstein-Maxwell field equations we assume the relation between the radial and transverse pressure as p t ?p r =g q(r)2 r 2 (where g is a non-zero positive constant). The physical conditions inside the stellar model are also discussed.  相似文献

Variational principles are derived for the analysis of dynamical phenomena associated with spherical inclusions embedded in homogeneous isotropic elastic solids. The starting point is Hamilton’s principle, with the material properties assumed to vary only with the radial distance r from the origin. Attention is restricted to disturbances that are symmetric about the polar (z) axis, such that the nonzero displacement components in spherical coordinates, u r and uθ, are independent of the polar coordinate φ. The symmetry allows for a decoupling of the polar components, the nth of which is described by U r, n (r, t)P n (cosθ) and Uθ, n(r, t)dP n /dθ. A variational principle is subsequently derived for the field quantities U r, n and Uθ, n. Concepts analogous to those of the theory of matched asymptotic expansions are used to embellish the principle in order to allow for the damping associated with the outward radiation of elastic waves. Examples illustrating the use of the variational principle for formulating plausible lumped-parameter models are given for the cases of n = 0 and n = 1.  相似文献

A consistent procedure for determining the ionization potential of a large metal cluster of radius R N, v , consisting of N atoms and N v vacancies, is proposed. The perturbation theory in small parameters R v /R N, v and L v /R v (Rv and L v are average distance between vacancies and the length of electron scattering on vacancies, respectively) is constructed in the effective-medium approximation for the electron ground state energy. The effective vacancy potential profile, the electron scattering phase and length are calculated by the Kohn–Sham method for a macroscopic metal in the stable jelly model. The obtained analytical dependences can be useful to analyze the results of photoionization experiments and to determine the size dependence of the vacancy concentration, including that near the melting temperature.  相似文献

A triple of spectra (r A , r B , r AB ) is said to be admissible if there is a density operator ρ AB with \(({\rm Spec} \rho^{A}, {\rm Spec} \rho^{B}, {\rm Spec} \rho^{AB})=(r^A, r^B, r^{AB})\).How can we characterise such triples? It turns out that the admissible spectral triples correspond to Young diagrams (μ, ν, λ) with nonzero Kronecker coefficient g μνλ [5, 14]. This means that the irreducible representation of the symmetric group V λ is contained in the tensor product of V μ and V ν . Here, we show that such triples form a finitely generated semigroup, thereby resolving a conjecture of Klyachko [14]. As a consequence we are able to obtain stronger results than in [5] and give a complete information-theoretic proof of the correspondence between triples of spectra and representations. Finally, we show that spectral triples form a convex polytope.  相似文献

A model is considered in which atoms A and A′ or B and B′ of disordered solid solutions A x A 1?x BO3 and AB x B 1?x O3 are distributed over a regular system of points 1(a) and 1(b) of the symmetry group O h 1 characterizing the ideal perovskite structure. The probabilities P(G i |x) of unit cells having crystal-field symmetry at their center lowered to G i =T d , D3d, C3v, C4v, D2h, C2v, C s , or C2 are calculated as a function of the concentration x. The limits for x in which the Jahn-Teller and/or dipole ordering mechanism is probable are determined. In the approximation taking into account only effective pair interactions, the scattering amplitude F hkl is found to depend on a single parameter r0. The theory predicts that the dependence of the intensities of even and odd reflections on sin θ/λ is nonmonotonic and that the distributions of nonuniform strains and of values of the lattice parameters in solid solutions are discrete.  相似文献

A theoretical study of the orientation of product rotational angular momenta for two chemical reaction channels: F + HD(ν r = 0, j r = 0) → HF(ν, j) + D and F + HD(ν r = 0, j r = 0) → DF(ν, j) + H at a E coll = 78.54 meV collision energy was performed. Angular momentum orientation was described on the basis of irreducible tensor operators (state multipoles) expressed through anisotropy transfer coefficients, which contained quantum-mechanical scattering T matrices determined on the basis of exact solutions to quantum scattering equations obtained using the hyperquantization algorithm. The possibility of the existence of substantial orientation of the angular momentum of reaction products j in the direction perpendicular to the scattering plane was demonstrated. The dependences of differential reaction cross sections and state multi-poles on the ν and j quantum numbers were calculated and analyzed. A experimental scheme based on the multiphoton ionization method was suggested. The scheme can be used to detect predicted reaction product angular momentum orientation.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the investigation, using the method of Cartan–Laptev, of the differential-geometric structure associated with a Lagrangian L, depending on a function z of the variables t, x 1,...,x n and its partial derivatives. Lagrangians of this kind are considered in theoretical physics (in field theory). Here t is interpreted as time, and x 1,...,x n as spatial variables. The state of the field is characterized by a function z(t, x 1,..., x n ) (a field function) satisfying the Euler equation, which corresponds to the variational problem for the action integral. In the present paper, the variables z(t, x 1,..., x n are regarded as adapted local coordinates of a bundle of general type M with n-dimensional fibers and 1-dimensional base (here the variable t is simultaneously a local coordinate on the base). If we agree to call t time, and a typical fiber an n-dimensional space, then M can be called the spatiotemporal bundle manifold. We consider the variables t, x 1,...,x n , z (i.e., the variables t, x 1,...,x n with the added variable z) as adapted local coordinates in the bundle H over the fibered base M. The Lagrangian L, which is a coefficient in the differential form of the variational action integral in the integrand, is a relative invariant given on the manifold J 1 H (the manifold of 1-jets of the bundle H). In the present paper, we construct a tensor with components Λ00, Λ0i , Λ ij ij = Λ ji ) which is generated by the fundamental object of the structure associated with the Lagrangian. This tensor is an invariant (with respect to admissible transformations the variables t, x 1,...,x n , z) analog of the energy-momentum tensor of the classical theory of physical fields. We construct an invariant I, a vector G i , and a bivalent tensor G jk generated by the Lagrangian. We also construct a relative invariant of E (in the paper, we call it the Euler relative invariant) such that the equation E = 0 is an invariant form of the Euler equation for the variational action integral. For this reason, a nonvariational interpretation of the Euler equation becomes possible. Moreover, we construct a connection in the principal bundle with base J 2 H (the variety of 2-jets of the bundle H) and with the structure group GL(n) generated by the structure associated with the Lagrangian.  相似文献

The electro-optical coefficients r ij and half-wave voltage Vλ/2 of strontium-barium niobate crystals poled in the ferroelectric phase are shown to vary along the polar axis. The r ij (z) and Vλ/2(z) dependences indicate the presence of a residual domain density D(z) and clearly depend on the sign of the polarizing field, with r ij being minimum (D being maximum) near the negative electrode. This character of the D(z) distribution and, hence, the r ij (z) and Vλ/2(z) coordinate dependences can be explained by predominant domain nucleation near the negative electrode, which is revealed when the switching processes are studied using 90° (Rayleigh) light scattering from domain walls.  相似文献

Recent developments in investigations of beta decay of the free neutron are discussed. Measurements of the neutron lifetime τ n and the electron emission asymmetry A n are a classic source of determination of the Standard Model parameters G v , G A and λ n . Combined with the results of the muon decay experiments, the nuclear superallowed 0→0 transitions and decays of particles containing heavy quarks, they provide tests of the SM assumptions: the unitarity of the CKM matrix, the number of the neutrino families, or the CVC hypothesis. In contrast, more complex correlations between the spins and the momenta of the emitted particles, (e.g. B n , D n , R n or G n ), are uniquely sensitive to the so called “Physics beyond the Standard Model”. Thus the question of the right handed bosons, the admixture of the scalar or tensor interaction, with or without time reversal violating terms, may be addressed separately in a dedicated, single experiment. Further development of powerful beams of polarized cold neutrons and sources of ultracold neutrons is imperative for progress in these studies.  相似文献

The dynamics of a quantum vortex toric knot TP,Q and other analogous knots in an atomic Bose condensate at zero temperature in the Thomas–Fermi regime is considered in the hydrodynamic approximation. The condensate has a spatially inhomogeneous equilibrium density profile ρ(z, r) due to the action of an external axisymmetric potential. It is assumed that z*= 0, r*= 1 is the point of maximum of function rρ(z, r), so that δ(rρ) ≈ –(α–)z2/2–(α + )(δr)2/2 for small z and δr. The geometrical configuration of a knot in the cylindrical coordinates is determined by a complex 2πP-periodic function A(?, t) = Z(?, t) + i[R(?, t))–1]. When |A| ? 1, the system can be described by relatively simple approximate equations for P rescaled functions \({W_n}(\varphi ) \propto A(2\pi n + \varphi ):i{W_{n,t}} = - ({W_{n,\varphi \varphi }} + \alpha {W_n} - \in W_n^*)/2 - \sum\nolimits_{j \ne n} {1/(W_n^* - W_j^*)} \). For = 0, examples of stable solutions of type W n = θ n (?–γt)exp(–iωt) with a nontrivial topology are found numerically for P = 3. In addition, the dynamics of various unsteady knots with P = 3 is modeled, and the tendency to the formation of a singularity over a finite time interval is observed in some cases. For P = 2 and small ≠ 0, configurations of type W0W1B0exp(iζ) + C(B0, α)exp(–iζ) + D(B0, α)exp(3iζ), where B0 > 0 is an arbitrary constant, ζ = k0?–Ω0t + ζ0, k0 = Q/2, and Ω0 = (–α)/2–2/B02, which rotate about the z axis, are investigated. Wide stability regions for such solutions are detected in the space of parameters (α, B0). In unstable zones, a vortex knot may return to a weakly excited state.  相似文献

We consider the spin-1/2 model on the honeycomb lattice [A. Kitaev, Ann. Phys. 321, 2 (2006)] in the presence of a weak magnetic field h α ? J. Such a perturbation treated in the lowest nonvanishing order over h α leads [K.S. Tikhonov, M.V. Feigel’man, and A.Yu. Kitaev, Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 067203 (2011)] to a powerlaw decay of irreducible spin correlations 《s z (t, r)s z (0, 0)》 ∝ h z 2 f(t, r), where f(t, r) ∝ [max(t, Jr)]–4. We have studied the effects of the next order of perturbation in h z and found an additional term of the order h z 4 in the correlation function 《s z (t, r)s z (0, 0)》 which scales as h z 4 cosγ/r 3 at Jt? r, where γ is the polar angle in the 2D plane. We demonstrate that such a contribution can be understood as a result of a perturbation of the effective Majorana Hamiltonian by the weak imaginary vector potential A x i h z 2 .  相似文献

In this paper, we study an n-dimensional space-time (M,g) with Einstein field equation and nondegenerate Ricci tensor. It is shown that taking the Ricci tensor \(\mathit{Ric}=\bar{g}\) as another semi-Riemannian metric on M, the identity map \(i:(M,g)\rightarrow ( M,\bar{g}) \) is a harmonic map. We also obtain a characterization of a vacuum using a differential equation satisfied by the electromagnetic stress tensor on space-time. In addition, we also show that if the Ricci tensor of (M,g) is parallel and the signatures of g and \(\bar{g}\) are same, then the semi-Riemannian manifold \(( M,\bar{g}) \) is an Einstein manifold.  相似文献
