The time evolution of a damped quantum particle is discussed. Dissipation is modeled by the bilinear coupling to a set of harmonic oscillators. Using a functional integral technique that accounts for initial correlations between the particle and the reservoir, one can express the dynamics of the damped particle entirely in terms of equilibrium correlation functions. The long-time behavior of these correlations is determined for memory damping arising from the coupling to a reservoir with spectral densityI() at low frequencies, where > 0. The time evolution of nonequilibrium initial states of the damped particle is discussed. At finite temperatures an initially localized state is found to spread subdiffusively or superdiffusively, depending on . For > 2 the damping becomes ineffective for long times, and the width of a state grows kinematically. At zero temperature and for < 1, an initially localized state remains localized for all times. For 1 the state spreads, but with a slower rate than at finite temperatures. Study of arbitrary initial states indicates that the process is ergodic at finite temperatures only for 2 and at zero temperature for 1 2.  相似文献

We give a simplified construction of twist eating configurations, based on a theorem due to Frobenius. These configurations are defined through the equation:U U U + U + =exp(2in /N) withU SU(N), =1 tod andn an antisymmetric matrix with integer entries. In the (Twisted)-Eguchi-Kawai model they yield extrema some of which survive forN. Comparison is made with the Monte Carlo data of the internal energy in the small coupling region.  相似文献

TheK S 0 0 l + l andK L 0 0 l + l decays are considered within the framework of the Standard model in the one-photon exchange approximation, i.e.K S,L 0 0+ *0 +l + l . To evaluate the low-energy matrix elements of theK 0(¯K 0)0+ * transitions, the constituentquark-loop approximation, based on the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasino (NJL) model, is used. The obtained results are compared with other theoretical estimates and the experimental bounds.  相似文献

Mori's scaling method is used to derive the kinetic equation for a dilute, nonuniform electron plasma in the kinetic region where the space-time cutoff (b, t c) satisfies Dbl f , D t c f , with D the Debye length, D –1= p the plasma frequency, andl f and f the mean free path and time, respectively. The kinetic equation takes account of the nonuniformity of the order ofl f and D for the single-and the two-particle distribution function, respectively. Thus the Vlasov term associated with the two-particle distribution function is retained. This kinetic equation is deduced from the kinetic equation in the coherent region obtained by Morita, Mori, and Tokuyama, where the space-time cutoff of the coherent region satisfies Dbr 0, Dt c 0, withr 0 the Landau length and 0 the corresponding time scale.  相似文献

Hill's analysis of hopping conductivity data has been applied to ion-bombarded amorphous-silicon samples. The apparent hopping conductivity parameters derived from a standardT –0.25 plot undergo changes by several orders of magnitude when plotted with the exact scaling of the abscissa. A typical example is characterized by a temperature dependence ofdc conductivity according to= 0 exp (—(T 0/T) m ), withm=0.45,T 0 =6.4104K and 0=6.6101 –1 cm–1. From 0 a phonon frequency of about 3–151012 s–1 is derived.  相似文献

From the viewpoint of critical stability, we discuss the three- and four-body structure of 6He, 7He, 4He, and 4H. With the + + N three-body model, 6He is found to have a three-layer structure of the matter distribution: core, a skin and neutron halo. Also the level structure of 7He with the three-body model of 5He + n + n is predicted. This stimulates a new study of neutron-rich and proton-rich hypernuclei. By performing a four-body calculation with both NNN and NNN channels and with both NN and NNN channels, we show that the N-N and -N couplings are very important in critical stability of few-body hypernuclear systems.  相似文献

We consider translation-invariant attractive spin systems. LetT ,x v be the first time that the average spin inside the hypercube reaches the valuex when the process is started from an invariant measure with density smaller thanx. We obtain sufficient conditions for (1) ¦¦–1 logT ,x v (x) in distribution as ¦¦ , and ¦¦–1 logT ,x v (x) as ¦¦ , where (x):= –lim ¦¦–1 log {(average spin inside ) x. And (2)T ,x v /ET ,x v converges to a unit mean exponential random variable as ¦¦ . Both (1) and (2) are proven under some type of rapid convergence to equilibrium. (1) is also proven without extra conditions for Ising models with ferromagnetic pair interactions evolving according to an attractive reversible dynamics; in this case is a thermodynamic function. We discuss also the case of finite systems with boundary conditions and what can be said about the state of the system at the timeT ,x v .On leave from São Paulo University.  相似文献

We study the degree of additivity of orthogonal Hilbert-space-valued measures on the latticeL(H) of all projections acting on a Hilbert spaceH. We present criteria for such measures to be completely additive and we establish the connection between the additivity of orthogonal measures and the size of almost disjoint families on dimH. [For example, we show that everyH-valued orthogonal measure is weakly-additive iff (dimH) > dim H]. As a corollary we see that finitely additive orthogonal measures distinguish dimensions of Hilbert spaces (this can be viewed as a generalization of a theorem by Kruszynski). As a further corollary, we obtain that, for cardinals, with >,3, there is no Jordan homomorphism from a typeI -factor into a typeI -factor. Finally, we show that every latticeL(H) with (dimH) = dimH admits a nonzero free orthogonal measure with values inH. Our results contribute to the noncommutative probability theory and also may find applications in the theory of the representation ofC *-algebras.  相似文献

For potentialsV=V(x)=O(|x|–2–) for |x|,x3 we prove that if theS-matrix of (–, –+V) has an analytic extension to a regionO in the lower half-plane, then the family of generalized eigenfunctions of –+V has an analytic extension toO such that for |Imk|<b. Consequently, the resolvent (–+Vz 2)–1 has an analytic continuation from + to {kOImk|<b} as an operator from b ={f=e b|x| g|gL 2(3)} to b . Based on this, we define for potentialsW=o(e –2b|x|) resonances of (–+V, –+V+W) as poles of and identify these resonances with poles of the analytically continuedS-matrix of (–+V, –+V+W).The author would like to thank the Institute for Advanced Study for its hospitality and the National Science Foundation for financial support under Grant No. DMS-8610730(1)  相似文献

For a bounded open domain with connected complement inR 2 and piecewise smooth boundary, we consider the Dirichlet Laplacian- on and the S-matrix on the complement c . We show that the on-shell S-matricesS k have eigenvalues converging to 1 askk 0 exactly when-- has an eigenvalue at energyk 0 2 . This includes multiplicities, and proves a weak form of transparency atk=k 0. We also show that stronger forms of transparency, such asS k 0 having an eigenvalue 1 are not expected to hold in general.  相似文献

We find the asymptotic decrease of correlations < A +y , B >,yZ v +1, |y|, in the Ising model at high temperatures. For the case when monomials A and B both are odd, using the saddle-point method, we find the asymptotics of the correlations for any dimension . For even monomials A , B we formulate a general hypothesis about the form of the asymptotics and confirm it in two cases: (1) =1 and the vectory has an arbitrary direction, (2)y is directed along a fixed axis and arbitrary . Here we use besides the saddle-point method, some arguments from scattering theory.  相似文献

For 2D percolation we slightly improve a result of Chayes and Chayes to the effect that the critical exponent for the percolation probability isstrictly less than 1. The same argument is applied to prove that ifL():={(x, y):x=r cos, y=r sin for some r0, or} and():=limpp c [log(pp c )]–1 log Pcr {itO is connected to by an occupied path inL()}, then() is strictly decreasing in on [0, 2]. Similarly, limn [–logn]–1 logP cr {itO is connected by an occupied path inL()() to the exterior of [–n, n]×[–n, n] is strictly decreasing in on [0, 2].  相似文献

We derive the hydrodynamic (Euler) approximation for the harmonic time evolution of infinite classical oscillator system on one-dimensional lattice 1 It is known that equilibrium (i.e., time-invariant attractive) states for this model are translationally invariant Gaussian ones, with the mean 0, which satisfy some linear relations involving the interaction quadratic form. The natural parameter characterizing equilibrium states is the spectral density matrix function (SDMF)F(), [– , ). Time evolution of a space profile of local equilibrium parameters is described by a space-time SDMFF(t;x, ) t, xR 1. The hydrodynamic equation forF(t; x, ) which we derive in this paper means that the normal mode profiles indexed by are moving according to linear laws and are mutually independent. The procedure of deriving the hydrodynamic equation is the following: We fix an initial SDMF profileF(x, ) and a familyP ,>0 of mean 0 states which satisfy the two conditions imposed on the covariance of spins at various lattice points: (a) the covariance at points close to the value –1 x in the stateP is approximately described by the SDMFF(x, ); (b) The covariance (on large distances) decreases with distance quickly enough and uniformly in. Given nonzerotR 1, we consider the states P –1 ,>0, describing the system at the time moments –1 t during its harmonic time evolution. We check that the covariance at lattice points close to –1 x in the state P –1 is approximately described by a SDMFF(t;x, ) and establish the connection betweenF(t; x, ) andF(x,).  相似文献

A short review of theoretical and experimental studies concerning the photoexcited florescence and Raman scattering of light for a substance in a space containing small material bodies is presented. Calculations of the radiativetransition probability for atoms (molecules) in the vicinity of bodies with a size much smaller than the light wavelength are performed. The probabilities of the singlephoton and doublephoton transitions are shown to increase by factors of 9 and 81 in the vicinity of a nanosize sphere with dielectric constant ||\ 1. The probability of a radiative transition in the vicinity of the vertex of a conic needle bearing up against a plane (both with || 1) increases by factors of (/R in)2 and (/R in)4 for singlephoton and doublephoton transitions, respectively (R in is the curvature radius for the needle vertex). This theoretical result is suggested as an explanation of the effect of increasing the radiation process intensity in the experiments carried out in the studies cited below.  相似文献

We consider a billiard in the punctured torus obtained by removing a small disk of radius >0 from the flat torus 2, with trajectory starting from the center of the puncture. In this case the phase space is given by the range of the velocity only. Let (), and respectively R(), denote the first exit time (length of the trajectory), and respectively the number of collisions with the side cushions when 2 is being identified with [0,1)2. We prove that the probability measures on [0, ) associated with the random variables and R are weakly convergent as 0+ and explicitly compute the densities of the limits. Nucleon polarizations are examined in the hypernucleus decays5He, 4He + p + ,4H, 3H + p + , and4H, 3He + n + . The effect of the strong interaction in the final state is taken into account. A significant role is predicted for the resonance interaction in the p-4He system in the formation of the proton polarization in the5He decay. It is also shown that in the4H, 3H + p + decay the proton-polarization components should attain significant magnitudes, while in the charge-exchange decay4H, 3He + n + , the neutron polarization is expected to be not too large.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 10, pp. 100–103, October, 1988.  相似文献

The (u, c) quarks and (d, s) quarks arerequired to have mass matrices of a certainform. To achieve these mass matrices appropriate Lagrangians are assumed. Theu quark is coupled to the standard Higgs scalar L. Thec quark has a 5 couplingwith L and R, where R is the Higgs scalar corresponding to theleft-rightmodel. The u quark has no 5 coupling. Both u,c quarks have a Yukawa couplingwith a Higgs multiplet. Exactly similar Lagrangians are chosen for thed, s qurks.Using these mass matrices, the Cabibbo angle is found to be 13° 11. The ratiom c/m s is shown to be approximately 3.1 with the help of the Weinberg mixingparameter. The mixing angles 2 and 1 determine the Cabibbo angle. The ratiotan 2/ tan 1 is shown to be a function of the Weinberg mixing parameter.  相似文献

A detailed phenomenological re-analysis of previously published conductivity data, (T, x), is presented. It is based on the investigation of differences, (T, x 1)–(T, x 2). In this way, the cusp-like low-temperature term is amplified against the other temperature dependent contributions. This term can be described by wherep=0.19±0.03. It is present, if (4.2 K,x) exceeds 260 –1 cm–1, at least up to (4.2 K,x)1350 –1 cm–1 and forT60 K. But it is absent, if (4.2 K,x)180 –1 cm–1. The disappearance of this contribution should be related to the metal-semiconductor transition, taking place atx c 0.14. On the other hand, the presence of a term proportional toT 1/2, as predicted by Altshuler and Aronov, seems unlikely. It is argued that the term should be related to the interplay of electron-electron interaction and disorder. The comparison with data from the literature shows that this contribution might also be present in heavily doped crystalline semiconductors.  相似文献

An attempt to produce a continuous creation theory by adapting the Brans-Dicke theory is described. The universe is seen to be created out of self-contained gravitational, scalar, and matter fields. However, the solution of the one-body problem reveals unsatisfactory characteristics of the theory, and in particular the principle of equivalence is severely violated. A second theory is described which retains the attractive features of the first theory and which does not fall foul of its objections. There do exist empirical tests for the theory which are described and which will require further examination. In the limit this theory approaches general relativity in every respect.Notation 2 gf the invariant d'Alembertian - t 0 Hubble time - H Hubble's constant - scalar field - coupling constant - T M energy-momentum tensor of matter and nongravitational energy, and nonscalar field energy - T M energy-momentum tensor of scalar field energy - T M covariant form - T M contravariant form - T M mixed form - T M T M trace - T M ; covariant differentiation - contravariant differentiation - T Ricci tensor - R curvature scalar (in tensorial equations) - Kronecker symbol - () a function of used in the text - density - p pressure - g the metric tensor - R(t) scale factor (in cosmological equations) - U the fluid 4-velocity (covariant) - U the fluid 4-velocity (contravariant) - functions differentiated once with respect to time ( , differenciated twice) - k the Robertson-Walker curvature constant=+1, 0, or –1 - proportional to - g gravitational coefficient - parameter - angle of deflection, or coordinate - angle of precession or coordinate - angle of precession - G v the force density - 3( – n (t)) the Dirac delta function - proper time - K an unknown function definingG - total angle of deflection - r 0 minimum radius of approach of a light ray grazing the sun  相似文献

For a translation invariant Gibbs measure on the configuration space X of a lattice finite spin system, we consider the set X of generic points. Using a Breiman type convergence theorem on the set X of generic points of an arbitrary translation invariant probability measure on X, we evaluate the Hausdorff dimension of the set X with respect to any metric out of a wide class of scale metrics on X (including Billingsley metrics generated by Gibbs measures).  相似文献
