A partition $\mathfrak{F}$ of a Euclidean space into finite subsets has subgroup property SP if the family of the convex hulls of the leaves of $\mathfrak{F}$ constitutes a subgroup with respect to the Minkowski addition. If $\mathfrak{F}$ consists of orbits of a finite linear groups then SP is equivalent to the fact that the group is a Coxeter group. In this article, this assertion is proved only under the assumption of continuity and centrality of $\mathfrak{F}$ (this means that every leaf is inscribed in some sphere centered at zero). An example is given of a noncentered partition satisfying SP (such partitions cannot be Coxeter partitions).  相似文献

In this paper, we compute the covolume of the group of units of the quadratic form ${f_d^n(x) = x_1^2+x_2^2+ \cdots +x_n^2-dx_{n+1}^2}$ with d an odd, square-free, positive integer. Mcleod has determined the hyperbolic Coxeter fundamental domain of the reflection subgroup of the group of units of the quadratic form ${f_3^n}$ . We apply our covolume formula to compute the volumes of these hyperbolic Coxeter polytopes.  相似文献

When W is a finite reflection group, the noncrossing partition lattice $\operatorname{NC}(W)$ of type W is a rich combinatorial object, extending the notion of noncrossing partitions of an n-gon. A formula (for which the only known proofs are case-by-case) expresses the number of multichains of a given length in $\operatorname{NC}(W)$ as a generalized Fu?–Catalan number, depending on the invariant degrees of W. We describe how to understand some specifications of this formula in a case-free way, using an interpretation of the chains of $\operatorname{NC}(W)$ as fibers of a Lyashko–Looijenga covering ( $\operatorname{LL}$ ), constructed from the geometry of the discriminant hypersurface of W. We study algebraically the map $\operatorname{LL}$ , describing the factorizations of its discriminant and its Jacobian. As byproducts, we generalize a formula stated by K. Saito for real reflection groups, and we deduce new enumeration formulas for certain factorizations of a Coxeter element of W.  相似文献

We prove two antibasis theorems for ${\Pi^0_1}$ classes. The first is a jump inversion theorem for ${\Pi^0_1}$ classes with respect to the global structure of the Turing degrees. For any ${P\subseteq 2^\omega}$ , define S(P), the degree spectrum of P, to be the set of all Turing degrees a such that there exists ${A \in P}$ of degree a. For any degree ${{\bf a \geq 0'}}$ , let ${\textrm{Jump}^{-1}({\bf a) = \{b : b' = a \}}}$ . We prove that, for any ${{\bf a \geq 0'}}$ and any ${\Pi^0_1}$ class P, if ${\textrm{Jump}^{-1} ({\bf a}) \subseteq S(P)}$ then P contains a member of every degree. For any degree ${{\bf a \geq 0'}}$ such that a is recursively enumerable (r.e.) in 0', let ${Jump_{\bf \leq 0'} ^{-1}({\bf a)=\{b : b \leq 0' \textrm{and} b' = a \}}}$ . The second theorem concerns the degrees below 0'. We prove that for any ${{\bf a\geq 0'}}$ which is recursively enumerable in 0' and any ${\Pi^0_1}$ class P, if ${\textrm{Jump}_{\bf \leq 0'} ^{-1}({\bf a)} \subseteq S(P)}$ then P contains a member of every degree.  相似文献

Let ${P \subseteq \mathfrak{R}_{n}}$ be a pointed, polyhedral cone. In this paper, we study the cone ${\mathcal{C} = {\rm cone}\{xx^T : x \in P\}}$ of quadratic forms. Understanding the structure of ${\mathcal{C}}$ is important for globally solving NP-hard quadratic programs over P. We establish key characteristics of ${\mathcal{C}}$ and construct a separation algorithm for ${\mathcal{C}}$ provided one can optimize with respect to a related cone over the boundary of P. This algorithm leads to a nonlinear representation of ${\mathcal{C}}$ and a class of tractable relaxations for ${\mathcal{C}}$ , each of which improves a standard polyhedral-semidefinite relaxation of ${\mathcal{C}}$ . The relaxation technique can further be applied recursively to obtain a hierarchy of relaxations, and for constant recursive depth, the hierarchy is tractable. We apply this theory to two important cases: P is the nonnegative orthant, in which case ${\mathcal{C}}$ is the cone of completely positive matrices; and P is the homogenized cone of the “box” [0, 1] n . Through various results and examples, we demonstrate the strength of the theory for these cases. For example, we achieve for the first time a separation algorithm for 5 × 5 completely positive matrices.  相似文献

Let ${\nu_{d} : \mathbb{P}^{r} \rightarrow \mathbb{P}^{N}, N := \left( \begin{array}{ll} r + d \\ \,\,\,\,\,\, r \end{array} \right)- 1,}$ denote the degree d Veronese embedding of ${\mathbb{P}^{r}}$ . For any ${P\, \in \, \mathbb{P}^{N}}$ , the symmetric tensor rank sr(P) is the minimal cardinality of a set ${\mathcal{S} \subset \nu_{d}(\mathbb{P}^{r})}$ spanning P. Let ${\mathcal{S}(P)}$ be the set of all ${A \subset \mathbb{P}^{r}}$ such that ${\nu_{d}(A)}$ computes sr(P). Here we classify all ${P \,\in\, \mathbb{P}^{n}}$ such that sr(P) <  3d/2 and sr(P) is computed by at least two subsets of ${\nu_{d}(\mathbb{P}^{r})}$ . For such tensors ${P\, \in\, \mathbb{P}^{N}}$ , we prove that ${\mathcal{S}(P)}$ has no isolated points.  相似文献

The symmetric group $\operatorname{Sym}(d)$ acts on the Cartesian product (S 2) d by coordinate permutation, and the quotient space $(S^{2})^{d}/\operatorname{Sym}(d)$ is homeomorphic to the complex projective space ?P d . We used the case d=2 of this fact to construct a 10-vertex triangulation of ?P 2 earlier. In this paper, we have constructed a 124-vertex simplicial subdivision $(S^{2})^{3}_{124}$ of the 64-vertex standard cellulation $(S^{2}_{4})^{3}$ of (S 2)3, such that the $\operatorname{Sym}(3)$ -action on this cellulation naturally extends to an action on $(S^{2})^{3}_{124}$ . Further, the $\operatorname{Sym}(3)$ -action on $(S^{2})^{3}_{124}$ is ??good??, so that the quotient simplicial complex $(S^{2})^{3}_{124}/\operatorname{Sym}(3)$ is a 30-vertex triangulation $\mathbb{C}P^{3}_{30}$ of ?P 3. In other words, we have constructed a simplicial realization $(S^{2})^{3}_{124} \to\mathbb{C} P^{3}_{30}$ of the branched covering (S 2)3???P 3.  相似文献

We study deformations of Fourier–Mukai transforms in general complex analytic settings. Suppose X and Y are complex manifolds, and let P be a coherent sheaf on X ×  Y. Suppose that the Fourier–Mukai transform ${\Phi}$ Φ given by the kernel P is an equivalence between the coherent derived categories of X and of Y. Suppose also that we are given a formal *-quantization ${\mathbb{X}}$ X of X. Our main result is that ${\mathbb{X}}$ X gives rise to a unique formal *-quantization ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y of Y. For the statement to hold, *-quantizations must be understood in the framework of stacks of algebroids. The quantization ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y is uniquely determined by the condition that ${\Phi}$ Φ deforms to an equivalence between the derived categories of ${\mathbb{X}}$ X and ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y . Equivalently, the condition is that P deforms to a coherent sheaf ${\tilde{P}}$ P ~ on the formal *-quantization ${\mathbb{X} \times\mathbb{Y}^{op}}$ X × Y o p of X × Y; here ${\mathbb{Y}^{op}}$ Y o p is the opposite of the quantization ${\mathbb{Y}}$ Y .  相似文献

In this paper, a complete finite rewriting system is constructed for Coxeter groups of the form $$W = \left\langle {a,b,c|a^2 = b^2 = c^2 = (ab)^p = (bc)^q = (ca)^r = 1} \right\rangle $$ with respect to the system of generators $S = \{ a,b,c\} $ , where $p,q,r \in \mathbb{Z}$ , $p,q,r \geqslant 2$ , and $1/p + 1/q + 1/r < 1$ . Rewriting systems of this kind can be used to evaluate the complete growth series of a group.  相似文献

In this paper, we study functional inequalities of the form $$||f;Q|| \leqslant C\varphi (||\nabla f;P||,||f;R||),$$ where P, Q, and R are Banach ideal spaces of functions on a domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n $ , the constant C is the same for all compactly supported functions f satisfying the Lipschitz condition, $\nabla f$ is the gradient of f, and $\varphi $ is a continuous degree one homogeneous function. We give compatibility conditions for norms on the spaces P, Q, and R that ensure the equivalence of the inequality in question to an isoperimetric inequality between the norms of indicators and relative capacities of compact subsets of the domain $\Omega $ .  相似文献

An additive functor $F \colon {\mathcal A}\to{\mathcal B}$ between preadditive categories $\mathcal A$ and $\mathcal B$ is said to be a local functor if, for every morphism $f\colon A\to A'$ in $\mathcal A$ , F(f) isomorphism in $\mathcal B$ implies f isomorphism in $\mathcal A$ . We show that there exist several pairs $(\mathcal I_1,\mathcal I_2)$ of ideals of $\mathcal A$ for which the canonical functor $\mathcal A\to\mathcal A/\mathcal I_1\times \mathcal A/\mathcal I_2$ is a local functor. In most of our examples, the category $\mathcal A$ is a full subcategory of the category Mod?-R of all right modules over a ring R. These pairs of ideals arise in a surprisingly natural way and enjoy several properties. Ideals are kernels of functors, and most of our examples of ideals are kernels of important and well studied functors. E.g., (1) the kernel Δ of the canonical functor P of Mod?-R into its spectral category Spec(Mod?-R), so that Δ is the ideal of all morphisms with an essential kernel; (2) the kernel Σ of the dual functor F of P, so that Σ is the ideal of all morphisms with a superfluous image; (3) the kernels Δ(1) and Σ(1) of the first derived functors P (1) and F (1) of P and F, respectively; (4) the kernels of suitable functors Hom and ? and their first derived functors ${\rm Ext}^1_R$ and ${\rm Tor}^R_1$ .  相似文献

With each orthogeometry (P, ⊥) we associate ${{\mathbb {L}}(P, \bot)}$ , a complemented modular lattice with involution (CMIL), consisting of all subspaces X and X such that dim X < ?0, and we study its rôle in decompositions of (P, ⊥) as directed (resp., disjoint) union. We also establish a 1–1 correspondence between ?-varieties ${\mathcal {V}}$ of CMILs with ${\mathcal {V}}$ generated by its finite dimensional members and ‘quasivarieties’ ${\mathcal {G}}$ of orthogeometries: ${\mathcal {V}}$ consists of the CMILs representable within some geometry from ${\mathcal {G}}$ and ${\mathcal {G}}$ of the (P, ⊥) with ${{\mathbb {L}}(P, \bot) \in {\mathcal {V}}}$ . Here, ${\mathcal {V}}$ is recursively axiomatizable if and only if so is ${\mathcal {G}}$ . It follows that the equational theory of ${\mathcal {V}}$ is decidable provided that the equational theories of the ${\{{\mathbb {L}}(P, \bot)\, |\, (P, \bot) \in \mathcal {G}, {\rm{dim}} P = n\}}$ are uniformly decidable.  相似文献

We denote by Conc A the ${(\vee, 0)}$ -semilattice of all finitely generated congruences of an algebra A. A lifting of a ${(\vee, 0)}$ -semilattice S is an algebra A such that ${S \cong {\rm Con}_{\rm c} A}$ . The assignment Conc can be extended to a functor. The notion of lifting is generalized to diagrams of ${(\vee, 0)}$ -semilattices. A gamp is a partial algebra endowed with a partial subalgebra together with a semilattice-valued distance; gamps form a category that lends itself to a universal algebraic-type study. The raison d’être of gamps is that any algebra can be approximated by its finite subgamps, even in case it is not locally finite. Let ${\mathcal{V}}$ and ${\mathcal{W}}$ be varieties of algebras (on finite, possibly distinct, similarity types). Let P be a finite lattice. We assume the existence of a combinatorial object, called an ${\aleph_0}$ -lifter of P, of infinite cardinality ${\lambda}$ . Let ${\vec{A}}$ be a P-indexed diagram of finite algebras in ${\mathcal{V}}$ . If ${{\rm Con}_{\rm c} \circ \vec{A}}$ has no partial lifting in the category of gamps of ${\mathcal{W}}$ , then there is an algebra ${A \in \mathcal{V}}$ of cardinality ${\lambda}$ such that Conc A is not isomorphic to Conc B for any ${B \in \mathcal{W}}$ . This makes it possible to generalize several known results. In particular, we prove the following theorem, without assuming that ${\mathcal{W}}$ is locally finite. Let ${\mathcal{V}}$ be locally finite and let ${\mathcal{W}}$ be congruence-proper (i.e., congruence lattices of infinite members of ${\mathcal{W}}$ are infinite). The following equivalence holds. Every countable ${(\vee, 0)}$ -semilattice with a lifting in ${\mathcal{V}}$ has a lifting in ${\mathcal{W}}$ if and only if every ${\omega}$ -indexed diagram of finite ${(\vee, 0)}$ -semilattices with a lifting in ${\mathcal{V}}$ has a lifting in ${\mathcal{W}}$ . Gamps are also applied to the study of congruence-preserving extensions. Let ${\mathcal{V}}$ be a non-semidistributive variety of lattices and let n ≥ 2 be an integer. There is a bounded lattice ${A \in \mathcal{V}}$ of cardinality ${\aleph_1}$ with no congruence n-permutable, congruence-preserving extension. The lattice A is constructed as a condensate of a square-indexed diagram of lattices.  相似文献

We classify the normal subgroups of the Coxeter group $\varGamma =[5,3,5]$ , and of its even subgroup $\varGamma ^+$ , with quotient isomorphic to a finite simple group $L_2(q)$ . There are infinitely many such normal subgroups of $\varGamma ^+$ , each uniformising a compact orientable hyperbolic $3$ -manifold tessellated by dodecahedra; we determine the isometry groups of these manifolds and the symmetry groups of their tessellations. By contrast there is a single such normal subgroup of $\varGamma $ , uniformising a compact non-orientable $3$ -orbifold with isometry group $PGL_2(19)$ .  相似文献

The goal of this paper is to determine the optimal horoball packing arrangements and their densities for all four fully asymptotic Coxeter tilings (Coxeter honeycombs) in hyperbolic 3-space ${\mathbb{H}^3}$ . Centers of horoballs are required to lie at vertices of the regular polyhedral cells constituting the tiling. We allow horoballs of different types at the various vertices. Our results are derived through a generalization of the projective methodology for hyperbolic spaces. The main result states that the known B?r?czky?CFlorian density upper bound for ??congruent horoball?? packings of ${\mathbb{H}^3}$ remains valid for the class of fully asymptotic Coxeter tilings, even if packing conditions are relaxed by allowing for horoballs of different types under prescribed symmetry groups. The consequences of this remarkable result are discussed for various Coxeter tilings.  相似文献

Let ${(\Omega, \mathcal{F}, P)}$ be a probability space. For each ${\mathcal{G}\subset\mathcal{F}}$ , define ${\overline{\mathcal{G}}}$ as the σ-field generated by ${\mathcal{G}}$ and those sets ${F\in \mathcal{F}}$ satisfying ${P(F)\in\{0,1\}}$ . Conditions for P to be atomic on ${\cap_{i=1}^k\overline{\mathcal{A}_i}}$ , with ${\mathcal{A }_1,\ldots,\mathcal{A}_k\subset\mathcal{F}}$ sub-σ-fields, are given. Conditions for P to be 0-1-valued on ${\cap_{i=1}^k \overline{\mathcal{A}_i}}$ are given as well. These conditions are useful in various fields, including Gibbs sampling, iterated conditional expectations and the intersection property.  相似文献

Let V, $\tilde{V}$ be hypersurface germs in ? m , each having a quasi-homogeneous isolated singularity at the origin. We show that the biholomorphic equivalence problem for V, $\tilde{V}$ reduces to the linear equivalence problem for certain polynomials P, $\tilde{P}$ arising from the moduli algebras of V, $\tilde{V}$ . The polynomials P, $\tilde{P}$ are completely determined by their quadratic and cubic terms, hence the biholomorphic equivalence problem for V, $\tilde{V}$ in fact reduces to the linear equivalence problem for pairs of quadratic and cubic forms.  相似文献

A coloring of the vertices of a graph is called acyclic if the ends of each edge are colored in distinct colors, and there are no two-colored cycles. Suppose each face of rank $k$ , $k \geqslant 4$ , in a map on a surface $S^N $ is replaced by the clique having the same number of vertices. It is proved in [1] that the resulting pseudograph admits an acyclic coloring with the number of colors depending linearly on N and $k$ . In the present paper we prove a sharper estimate $55( - Nk)^{4/7} $ for the number of colors provided that $k \geqslant 1$ and $ - N \geqslant 5^7 k^{4/3} $ .  相似文献

For L a finite lattice, let ${\mathbb {C}(L) \subseteq L^2}$ denote the set of pairs γ = (γ 0, γ 1) such that ${\gamma_0 \prec \gamma_1}$ and order it as followsγδ iff γ 0δ 0, ${\gamma_{1} \nleq \delta_0,}$ and γ 1δ 1. Let ${\mathbb {C}(L, \gamma)}$ denote the connected component of γ in this poset. Our main result states that, for any ${\gamma, \mathbb {C}(L, \gamma)}$ is a semidistributive lattice if L is semidistributive, and that ${\mathbb {C}(L, \gamma)}$ is a bounded lattice if L is bounded. Let ${\mathcal{S}_{n}}$ be the Permutohedron on n letters and let ${\mathcal{T}_{n}}$ be the Associahedron on n + 1 letters. Explicit computations show that ${\mathbb {C}(\mathcal{S}_{n}, \alpha) = \mathcal{S}_{n-1}}$ and ${\mathbb {C}(\mathcal {T}_n, \alpha) = \mathcal {T}_{n-1}}$ , up to isomorphism, whenever α1 is an atom of ${\mathcal{S}_{n}}$ or ${\mathcal{T}_{n}}$ . These results are consequences of new characterizations of finite join-semidistributive and of finite lower bounded lattices: (i) a finite lattice is join-semidistributive if and only if the projection sending ${\gamma \in \mathbb {C}(L)}$ to ${\gamma_0 \in L}$ creates pullbacks, (ii) a finite join-semidistributive lattice is lower bounded if and only if it has a strict facet labelling. Strict facet labellings, as defined here, are a generalization of the tools used by Caspard et al. to prove that lattices of finite Coxeter groups are bounded.  相似文献

Let ${\mathcal{D}}_{n,k} $ be the family of linear subspaces of ?n given by all equations of the form $\varepsilon _1 x_{i_1 } = \varepsilon _2 x_{i_2 } = \cdot \cdot \cdot \varepsilon _k x_{i_k } ,$ for 1 ≤ < ? ? ? < i ki and $\left( {\varepsilon _1 ,...,\varepsilon _k } \right)\varepsilon \left\{ { + 1, - 1} \right\}^k $ Also let ${\mathcal{B}}_{n,k,h} $ be ${\mathcal{D}}_{n,k} $ enlarged by the subspaces $x_{j_1 } = x_{j_2 } = \cdot \cdot \cdot x_{j_h } = 0,$ for 1 ≤. The special cases ${\mathcal{B}}_{n,2,1} $ and ${\mathcal{D}}_{n,2} $ are well known as the reflection hyperplane arrangements corresponding to the Coxeter groups of type B nand D n respectively. In this paper we study combinatorial and topological properties of the intersection lattices of these subspace arrangements. Expressions for their Möbius functions and characteristic polynomials are derived. Lexicographic shellability is established in the case of ${\mathcal{B}}_{n,k,h,} 1 \leqslant h < k$ , which allows computation of the homology of its intersection lattice and the cohomology groups of the manifold $\begin{gathered} {\mathcal{D}}_{n,2} \\ M_{n,k,h,} = {\mathbb{R}}^n \backslash \bigcup {{\mathcal{B}}_{n,k,h,} } \\ \end{gathered} $ . For instance, it is shown that $H^d \left( {M_{n,k,k - 1} } \right)$ is torsion-free and is nonzero if and only if d = t(k ? 2) for some $t,0 \leqslant t \leqslant \left[ {{n \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {n k}} \right. \kern-0em} k}} \right]$ . Torsion-free cohomology follows also for the complement in ?nof the complexification ${\mathcal{B}}_{n,k,h}^C ,1 \leqslant h < k$ .  相似文献
