One expects a similarity of the energy dependence of the difference tot(*p)– tot(*n) for virtual (deep inelastic scatteringQ 2m 2) and real (Q 2=0) photons. We consider contributions to c + , and from excited states. The calculations are performed within the MIT-bag model and a heavy quark bag model. Because the mass of c + is rather big compared to the strange baryons, excited baryon states with mass close to that of c + in some cases give significant pole contributions to the decay amplitudes of c + .  相似文献

We have analyzed backward meson production in + p reactions at 20GeV/c, which were measured in the CERN spectrometer triggered by a fast proton (p f ), in experiment WA56. Production via baryon exchange of quasi-two-body final states ++ (1232) 0 (770), ++ (1232)f 2 (1270), and ++ (1232) 3 0 (1690) is clearly identified. The density matrix elements of meson resonances and of ++ (1232) are analyzed. We have observed also the reactions + p ++ (1232) 0 and + p ++ (1232) in thep f + 0 andp f + + 0 final states.  相似文献

A triple Regge analysis is performedof inclusive production in the proton fragmentation region ofK ++X and ++X at 250 GeV/c. Slope and intercept of the leading strange meson trajectory are determined. New measurements of the reactione + e confirm previous evidence for the decay1 and provide a strong constraint on the mass of the1. The results from a detailed analysis of these data are compared with those from a corresponding analysis of new data on the reactione + e . It is shown that in accord with expectation. This identification of a strong1 decay supports a previous claim that the1 and theC(1480), observed in the channel, cannot be different manifestations of the same particle.  相似文献

The surface response for charge exchange (p, n) and (3He, T) reactions is studied in the-region using the semi-infinite slab model. The contribution to the total response from different decay channels, (NN, N, ), is calculated. These decay channels corresponds to the exclusive channels, (pp, p +, +), measured in recent (p, n) and (3He, T) experiments. The in-medium properties of the-resonance is taken into account by using microscopic calculations of the-width in nuclear matter. From the-width in nuclear matter a non-local imaginary-potential, as well as a local potential, is constructed for the semi-infinite slab model. The results in the semi-infinite slab model gives a qualitative understanding of the exclusive experiments. The exclusive (NN, N, ) channels are more sensitive, than the total response, tog-correlation parameters,-width and the absorption function used at the external vertex. Our calculations suggest low values of theg-correlation parametersg N andg , (0.3). As stimulated by earlier attempts for obtaining theNN andN form factors from the deep inelastic lepton scattering data, we extend the analysis by taking into account effects of additional mesons including, , ,K, andK *, with the coupling constants fixed by the lowenergy nucleon-nucleon and hyperon-nucleon scattering data. Contrary to an earlier claim that the NN andN form factor must be very soft (e.g., with the cutoff mass less than 500 MeV in the monopole form), we find, for example, that with all form factors parametrized in the dipole form, a universal cutoff mass of 1150 MeV in the/N sector and 1400 MeV in the/ sector yields predictions in excellent agreement with recently published neutrino data on the momentum fractions carried by thes, , and¯d quarks, as well as consistent with the sea-to-valence ratio extracted from the CDHS data and the Femilab E615 experiment. Similar results can also be obtained by using exponential cutoffs for all couplings, or by using monopole forms for some vertices while retaining dipole forms for the rest. The success of the mesonexchange picture in generating the strangeness content in a proton suggests an alternative understanding of the origin of sea quarks in the proton.We wish to thank G. Reliable calculations of nuclear matrix elements are a prerequisite for the determination of the effective neutrino mass and other particle physics parameters from neutrinoless double beta decay. Here, the operator expansion method is improved by including Coulomb, tensor and central interactions simultaneously. Furthermore, the formalism of the OEM is extended to those matrix elements necessary to extract the right-handed parameters and from 0 decay. OEM includes the dependence of the nuclear matrix elements on the intermediate states implicitly and can therefore be understood as a step beyond the closure approximation. Numerical studies are carried out for the isotope76Ge combining the OEM expressions with ground-state wave functions calculated within a proton-neutron quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (pn-QRPA) model. The influence and relative importance of central, tensor and Coulomb interactions is investigated. Within the OEM, contributions from the Coulomb force are found to be negligible in 0 decay, while the tensor force leads to a moderate change of the results, of the order of (10–30)%, giving a better agreement between sets of calculations which employ different NN-interactions. Generally, results of the OEM+QRPA calculation are similar to previous calculations of 0 decay matrix elements, indicating that 0 decay is not sensitive to model approximations and might therefore be more accurately calculated than the strongly suppressed 2 decay matrix elements.  相似文献

We analyzeK decays in the framework of Chiral Perturbation Theory. We study the different Dalitz plot distributions, trying to find regions whereo(p 6) contributions could be more easily detected. An upper limit for the mass is determined through the kinematic reconstruction of the decay5 ± in the OPAL detector at LEP. The limit is obtained using a new method based on the comparison of the two-dimensional distribution of energy and invariant mass of the five-pion system with expectations from different neutrino mass hypotheses. From a sample of five events surviving the selection criteria we obtain an upper limit of 74 MeV at 95% confidence level. It is the first measurement at LEP energies, where the larger average multiplicity of events makes the suppression of this background more robust compared to lower energies.  相似文献

The couplings of conventional and hybrid mesons to (real and virtual) and their production amplitudes in M are described in a unified manner. Existing results for heavy quarks are recovered, extensions to light quarks and to virtual couplings are made and phenomenological applications discussed. In particular we discuss relativistic corrections to 0+, 1+, 2+ for both real and virtual photons and offer a resolution to a long standing puzzle in perturbative QCD concerning the helicity structure of 2++. We suggest that the production off 2 (1720) involves gluons in an essential way or that this meson hasJ2.  相似文献

An upgraded analysis of ,x d and /, using the latest determinations of the relevant experimental and theoretical parameters, is presented. Using the recent determination of the top quark mass,m t =(174±17) GeV, our best estimate is /=(3.1±2.5)×10, which lies in the range given by E731. We describe our detemination of / and make a comparison with other similar studies. A detailed discussion of the matching of the full theory to the effective Hamiltonian, written in terms of lattice operators, is also given.  相似文献

We analyze the available experimental data on the backward production processes N and N in the framework of the strong-cut Reggeized absorption model, which is based on the exchange of the baryon Regge trajectoriesN and with the associated cuts. The model describes rather well the data on the differential cross sections at incident momenta ranging from 2.15 to 20 GeV/c. An essential contribution of exchange even at small energies (E lab of the order of a few GeV) is found. A model-independent analysis of data confirms this fenomena.  相似文献

Using the ARGUS detector at the storage ring DORIS II we have measured decays into three charged mesons containingK * mesons. Exploiting the good particle identification capabilities of the detector we have determined the following branching ratios: ,B r (K *0 K v )= (0.20±0.05±0.04)%, andB r (K *– X 0 v ) =(1.15±0.15–0.18 +0.13)%.Supported by the German Bundesministerium für Forschung und Technologie, under contract number 054DO51P.  相似文献

We analyze the polarization properties of photons which are produced in the unpolarizedb-quark decay,bsg. Using the structure function formalism we carry out a general analysis of the polarization characteristics of in terms of the standard Stokes parameters. The expressions for five independent structure functions are constructed in terms of the weak magnetic transition form factors of the verticesbs andbsg. Numerical calculations of the Stokes parameters and various differential distributions forbsg are performed for the two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM). We studied the dependences of all these characteristics to the model parameters. These results were compared with the Standard Model predictions for different top quark masses. Strong sensitivity of the Stokes parameters, which defines the linear photon polarization, to the model is demonstrated.  相似文献

A search for e and oscillations has been carried out with the CHARM II detector exposed to the CERN wide band neutrino beam. The data were collected over five years, alternating beams mainly composed of muon-neutrinos and muon-antineutrinos. The number of interactions of e and observed is comparable with the number of events expected from flux calculations. For large squared mass differences the upper limits obtained on the mixing angle aresin 22 < 9.4=" ·=">–3 for oscillating to e andsin 22 < 4.8=" ·=">–3 for to , at the 90% confidence level.
