Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) and Fourier transform (FT) Raman spectra of 3‐{[(2‐hydroxyphenyl)methylene]amino}‐2‐phenylquinazolin‐4(3H)‐one were recorded and analyzed. The vibrational wavenumbers of the title compound were computed using HF/6‐31G* and 6‐311G* basis sets and compared with experimental data. The assignments of the normal modes are done by potential energy distribution (PED)calculations. The prepared compound was identified by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectra. Optimized geometrical parameters of the title compound are in agreement with reported structures. Shortening of CN bond lengths reveal the effect of resonance. The simultaneous IR and Raman activations of the CO stretching mode shows a charge transfer interaction through a π‐conjugated path. The first hyperpolarizability, infrared intensities and Raman activities are reported. The phenyl C C stretching modes are equally active as strong bands in both IR and Raman spectra, which are responsible for hyperpolarizability enhancement leading to nonlinear optical activity. The Fourier transform Raman (FT‐Raman) and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectra of 2‐[acetyl(4‐bromophenyl)carbamoyl]‐4‐chlorophenyl acetate were studied. The vibrational wavenumbers were examined theoretically using the Gaussian03 set of quantum chemistry codes, and the normal modes were assigned by potential energy distribution (PED) calculations. The simultaneous Raman and infrared (IR) activations of the CO stretching mode in the carbamoyl moiety show a charge transfer interaction through a π‐conjugated path. From the optimized structure, it is clear that the hydrogen bonding decreases the double bond character of the CO bond and increases the double bond character of the C N bonds. The first hyperpolarizability and predicted IR intensities are reported. The calculated first hyperpolarizability is comparable with the reported values of similar structures, which makes this compound an attractive object for future studies of nonlinear optics. Optimized geometrical parameters of the compound are in agreement with similar reported structures. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

FT‐IR and FT‐Raman spectra of 4‐chloro‐2‐(3‐chlorophenylcarbamoyl) phenyl acetate were studied. Vibrational wavenumbers and corresponding vibrational assignments were examined theoretically using the Gaussian03 set of quantum chemistry codes and the normal modes are assigned by potential energy distribution (PED) calculations. Simultaneous IR and Raman activation of the CO stretching mode shows the charge transfer interaction through a π‐conjugated path. Optimized geometrical parameters of the title compound are in agreement with the reported values. Analysis of the phenyl ring modes shows that C C stretching mode is equally active as strong bands in both IR and Raman, which can be interpreted as the evidence of intramolecular charge transfer via conjugated ring path and is responsible for hyperpolarizability enhancement leading to nonlinear optical activity. The red‐shift of the NH‐stretching wavenumber in the infrared spectrum from the computed wavenumber indicates the weakening of the NH bond resulting in proton transfer to the neighboring oxygen atom. Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) and FT‐Raman spectra of 4‐ethyl‐N‐(2′‐hydroxy‐5′‐nitrophenyl)benzamide were recorded and analyzed. A surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectrum was recorded in silver colloid. The vibrational wavenumbers and corresponding vibrational assignments were examined theoretically using the Gaussian03 set of quantum chemistry codes. The red shift of the NH stretching wavenumber in the infrared spectrum from the computational wavenumber indicates the weakening of the NH bond resulting in proton transfer to the neighboring oxygen atom. The simultaneous IR and Raman activation of the CO stretching mode gives the charge transfer interaction through a π‐conjugated path. The presence of methyl modes in the SERS spectrum indicates the nearness of the methyl group to the metal surface, which affects the orientation and metal molecule interaction. The first hyperpolarizability and predicted infrared intensities are reported. The calculated first hyperpolarizability is comparable with the reported values of similar derivatives and is an attractive subject for future studies of nonlinear optics. The near infrared Fourier‐transform (NIR FT)‐Raman and Fourier‐transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopies supported by HF/6‐31G(d) computations have been employed to derive equilibrium geometry, vibrational wavenumbers and the first hyperpolarizability of the nonlinear optical (NLO) material, L ‐arginine nitrate (LAN) hemihydrate. The reasonable NLO efficiency, predicted for the first time in this novel compound, has been confirmed by Kurtz–Perry powder second harmonic generation (SHG) experiments. The changes in the atomic charge distribution among different groups due to the presence of strong electronegative atoms and the shrinking of N O bonds of nitrate anion and C N bonds of guanidyl group have been analyzed. The splitting of the carboxylate stretching modes, blue shifting of methine vibrations and the electronic effects such as backdonation and induction on the methylene hydrogen atoms have also been examined in detail. The intense low wavenumber H‐bond Raman vibrations due to electron–phonon coupling and nonbonded interactions in making the LAN molecule NLO active have been discussed based on the vibrational spectral features. The natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis and HF computations confirm the occurrence of strong intra‐ and intermolecular N H·O and O H·O ionic hydrogen bonding between charged species providing the noncentrosymmetric structure in the LAN crystal. Dimethyl 1,3‐dithiole‐2‐thione‐4,5‐dicarboxylate (DDTD) was synthesized and characterized using NMR, Fourier transform (FT)‐Raman, Fourier transform‐infrared (FT‐IR) and UV spectroscopies. Resonance Raman spectra (RRs) were obtained with 341.5, 354.7 and 368.9 nm excitation wavelengths and density functional calculations were carried out to elucidate the π (S C S) →π* (S C S) electronic transitions and the RRs of DDTD in cyclohexane solution. The RRs indicate that the Franck–Condon region photo dynamics have a multidimensional character with motion predominantly along the CS stretch and the C S symmetric stretch modes in the five‐member heterocycle. A preliminary resonance Raman intensity analysis was carried out and the results for DDTD were compared with previously reported results for 1,3‐dithiole‐2‐thione (DTT). Differences and similarities of the spectra in terms of molecular symmetry and electron density are also discussed. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

IR, Raman and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of 5‐sulphosalicylic acid were recorded and analysed. The vibrational wavenumbers were computed by density functional theoretical (DFT) method using B3LYP/6–31G* basis. The bands due to the stretching modes CO, C S and SO2 are intense in the SERS spectrum. The C H stretching mode also appears in the SERS spectrum. The molecule is found to adsorb through both the carboxyl and sulphonyl groups. A possible tilted orientation of the molecule is suggested. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Here, we report the nature of new di‐α‐amino (L1–L3) and α‐amino‐α‐hydroxyphosphinic (L4–L6) acids, which are considered potential inhibitors of the aminopeptidase N, adsorbed on a colloidal silver surface by means of surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy. In order to reveal the adsorption mechanism of these species from their SERS spectra, Fourier‐transform Raman (FT‐RS) spectra of these nonadsorbed molecules were measured. By examining the enhancement, shift in wavenumbers, and changes in breadth of the SERS bands due to the adsorption process, we revealed that the tilted compounds interact with the colloidal silver substrate mainly through the benzene ring, amino group, and phosphinic moiety in the following way. The benzene ring of L2 and L3 is ‘standing up’ on the colloidal silver surface, and the C N bond is almost vertical to it, while the tilt angle between the O PO bond and this surface is greater than 45°. On the other hand, for L1, L4, and L5, the aromatic ring and C N bond are arranged more or less tilted, and the tilt angle between the O PO bond and the silver substrate is smaller than 45°. The elongation of the bond to the benzene ring, the L6 case, produces an almost horizontal orientation of the benzene ring and the O PO bond on the silver nanoparticles. For these ligands, the complement inhibition IC50 tested in vitro using porcine kidney leucine aminopeptidase was correlated mainly with the behavior of the O PO and C CH N fragments on the silver surface. The structure and Franck–Condon region of protochlorophyllide a, a precursor in the biosynthesis of chlorophyll and substrate of the light‐regulated enzyme protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (POR), were investigated by Raman and resonance Raman (RR) spectroscopy. The spectroscopic results are compared to the spectra of the structurally closely related porphyrin model compound magnesium octaethylporphyrin (MgOEP), and interpreted on the basis of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. It is shown that the electronic properties of the two porphyrin macrocycles are affected by different vibrational coupling modes, resulting in a higher absorption cross section of protochlorophyllide a in the visible spectral region. Furthermore, a comparison of the Fourier transform (FT)‐Raman and RR spectra of protochlorophyllide a indicates the modes that are resonantly enhanced upon excitation. Based on vibrational normal mode calculations, these modes include C C ring‐breathing and CC stretching vibrations of the porphyrin macrocycle. In particular, the strong band at 1703 cm−1 can be attributed to the CO carbonyl vibration of the cyclopentanone ring, which is attached in conjugation to the π‐electron path of the porphyrin ring system. The enhancement of that mode upon electronically resonant excitation is discussed in the light of the reaction model suggested for the photoreduction of protochlorophyllide a in the POR. Vibrational spectral analysis of the hydrogen‐bonded nonlinear optical (NLO) material p‐bromo acetanilide (PBA) was carried out using NIR‐FT‐Raman and FT‐IR spectroscopy. Ab initio molecular orbital computations were performed at HF/6‐31G (d) level to derive equilibrium geometry, vibrational wavenumbers, intensities and first hyperpolarizability. The lowering of the imino stretching wavenumbers suggests the existence of strong intermolecular N H···O hydrogen bonding, which was substantiated by the natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The vibrational spectra confirm that the charge‐transfer interaction between the  NHCOCH3 group and—Br through phenyl ring is responsible for simultaneous strong IR and Raman activation of the ring mode 8a. Vibrational analysis indicates that the lowering of stretching wavenumbers of methyl group due to electronic effects simultaneously caused by induction and hyperconjugation is due to the presence of the oxygen atom. The presence of blue‐shifting H‐bonds of CH stretching wavenumbers, simultaneous activation of carbonyl stretching mode, the strong activity of low‐wavenumber H‐bond stretching vibrations and the role of intramolecular charge transfer in making the molecule NLO active have been analyzed on the basis of the vibrational spectral features. Raman spectra of 3CHBT in unoriented form were recorded at 14 different temperature measurements in the range 25–55 °C, which covers the crystal → nematic (N) phase transition, and the Raman signatures of the phase transition were identified. The wavenumber shifts and linewidth changes of Raman marker bands with varying temperature were determined. The assignments of important vibrational modes of 3CHBT were also made using the experimentally observed Raman and infrared spectra, calculated wavenumbers, and potential energy distribution. The DFT calculations using the B3LYP method employing 6‐31G functional were performed for geometry optimization and vibrational spectra of monomer and dimer of 3CHBT. The analysis of the vibrational bands, especially the variation of their peak position as a function of temperature in two different spectral regions, 1150–1275 cm−1 and 1950–2300 cm−1, is discussed in detail. Both the linewidth and peak position of the ( C H ) in‐plane bending and ν(NCS) modes, which give Raman signatures of the crystal → N phase transition, are discussed in detail. The molecular dynamics of this transition has also been discussed. We propose the co‐existence of two types of dimers, one in parallel and the other in antiparallel arrangement, while going to the nematic phase. The structure of the nematic phase in bulk has also been proposed in terms of these dimers. The red shift of the ν(NCS) band and blue shift of almost all other ring modes show increased intermolecular interaction between the aromatic rings and decreased intermolecular interaction between two  NCS groups in the nematic phase. Raman spectra of acetic acid (AA), N,N‐dimethyl formamide (DMF) and their binary mixtures with varying mole fraction of the AA were recorded in the region 300–1750 cm−1 to investigate the formation of self‐associated dimer and hydrogen‐bonded complexes in a mixed system. The observed spectral features of the CO stretching mode suggest the formation of self‐association with a smaller aggregation size, and also indicate the presence of repulsive interactions between AA and DMF. The existence of two kinds of AA molecules (free and complex) is elucidated from the splitting of the OC O deformation mode. The intermolecular hydrogen‐bond formation and the possibility of attractive interaction between AA and DMF are also examined from the observed spectral features in the CCO symmetric stretching mode of AA, and CN symmetric stretching mode of DMF. Fourier‐transform infrared (FT‐IR), Raman (RS), and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of β‐hydroxy‐β‐methylobutanoic acid (HMB), L ‐carnitine, and N‐methylglycocyamine (creatine) have been measured. The SERS spectra have been taken from species adsorbed on a colloidal silver surface. The respective FT‐IR and RS band assignments (solid‐state samples) based on the literature data have been proposed. The strongest absorptions in the FT‐IR spectrum of creatine are observed at 1398, 1615, and 1699 cm−1, which are due to νs(COOH) + ν(CN) + δ(CN), ρs(NH2), and ν(C O) modes, respectively, whereas those of L ‐carnitine (at 1396/1586 cm−1 and 1480 cm−1) and HMB (at 1405/1555/1585 cm−1 and 1437–1473 cm−1) are associated with carboxyl and methyl/methylene group vibrations, respectively. On the other hand, the strongest bands in the RS spectrum of HMB observed at 748/1442/1462 cm−1 and 1408 cm−1 are due to methyl/methylene deformations and carboxyl group vibrations, respectively. The strongest Raman band of creatine at 831 cm−1w(R NH2)) is accompanied by two weaker bands at 1054 and 1397 cm−1 due to ν(CN) + ν(R NH2) and νs(COOH) + ν(CN) + δ(CN) modes, respectively. In the case of L ‐carnitine, its RS spectrum is dominated by bands at 772 and 1461 cm−1 assigned to ρr(CH2) and δ(CH3), respectively. The analysis of the SERS spectra shows that HMB interacts with the silver surface mainly through the  COO, hydroxyl, and  CH2 groups, whereas L ‐carnitine binds to the surface via  COO and  N+(CH3)3 which is rarely enhanced at pH = 8.3. On the other hand, it seems that creatine binds weakly to the silver surface mainly by  NH2, and C O from the  COO group. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this investigation, we address the question of how organic thioindigo binds to inorganic palygorskite to form a pigment similar to Maya Blue. We also address how such binding, if it occurs, might be affected by varying the proportion of dye relative to that of the mineral, and by varying the length of heating time used in preparation of the pigment. In addition to samples of palygorskite and thioindigo both alone, four synthetic pigment samples were prepared; two samples of 8 wt.% dye, one heated at 170 °C for 3 h and one at 170 °C for 9 h, and two samples of 16 wt.% dye, one heated at 170 °C for 3 h and one at 170 °C for 9 h. All samples were examined using Fourier transform‐infrared (FT‐IR) and FT‐Raman spectroscopy. For the pigment samples, FT‐IR peaks at 1627 cm−1 are attributed to a downshifted CO stretching mode of thioindigo due to dye–clay interaction. This interpretation is corroborated by FT‐Raman CO peaks with 14 cm−1 shifts to lower wavenumber for the pigment relative to thioindigo alone. Additional Raman scattering between 550 cm−1 and 650 cm−1 also suggests dye–clay interaction through metal–oxygen bonding. We are thus led to the possibility of mostly hydrogen bonding between silanol and carbonyl at lower dye concentration, with a predominance of metal–oxygen bonding at higher dye concentration. Vibrational spectral analysis was carried out for 4‐methoxy‐2‐methyl benzoic acid (4M2MBA) by using Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) (solid, gas phase) and FT‐Raman spectroscopy in the range of 400–4000 and 10–3500 cm−1 respectively. The effects of molecular association through O H···O hydrogen bonding have been described by the single dimer structure. The theoretical computational density functional theory (DFT) and Hatree‐Fock (HF) method were performed at 6–311++G(d,p) levels to derive the equilibrium geometry, vibrational wavenumbers, infrared intensities and Raman scattering activities. The scaled theoretical wavenumbers were also shown to be in good agreement with experimental data. The first‐order hyperpolarizability (β0) of this novel molecular system and related properties (β, α0 and Δα) of 4M2MBA are calculated using the B3LYP/cc‐pvdz basis set, based on the finite‐field approach. A detailed interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra of 4M2MBA is reported. The theoretical spectrograms for FT‐IR and FT‐Raman spectra of the title molecule were also constructed and compared with the experimental one. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A vibrational spectroscopic study of binary mixtures of salicylaldehyde (SA) in three different solvents (polar and nonpolar) is presented. The vibrational modes ν(CO), hydroxyl stretching mode (C OH) and aldehydic (C H) stretching vibration were analyzed. Changes in wavenumber position and full width half maximum have been explained for neat as well as binary mixtures with different volume fractions of the reference system, SA, in terms of inter‐ and intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The IR spectra of these mixtures have also been taken and compared with the Raman data. The spectral changes have been well explained using the concentration fluctuation model and solute–solvent interaction. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Solid‐state protonated and N,O‐deuterated Fourier transform infrared (IR) and Raman scattering spectra together with the protonated and deuterated Raman spectra in aqueous solution of the cyclic di‐amino acid peptide cyclo(L ‐Asp‐L ‐Asp) are reported. Vibrational band assignments have been made on the basis of comparisons with previously cited literature values for diketopiperazine (DKP) derivatives and normal coordinate analyses for both the protonated and deuterated species based upon DFT calculations at the B3‐LYP/cc‐pVDZ level of the isolated molecule in the gas phase. The calculated minimum energy structure for cyclo(L ‐Asp‐L ‐Asp), assuming C2 symmetry, predicts a boat conformation for the DKP ring with both the two L ‐aspartyl side chains being folded slightly above the ring. The CO stretching vibrations have been assigned for the side‐chain carboxylic acid group (e.g. at 1693 and 1670 cm−1 in the Raman spectrum) and the cis amide I bands (e.g. at 1660 cm−1 in the Raman spectrum). The presence of two bands for the carboxylic acid CO stretching modes in the solid‐state Raman spectrum can be accounted for by factor group splitting of the two nonequivalent molecules in a crystallographic unit cell. The cis amide II band is observed at 1489 cm−1 in the solid‐state Raman spectrum, which is in agreement with results for cyclic di‐amino acid peptide molecules examined previously in the solid state, where the DKP ring adopts a boat conformation. Additionally, it also appears that as the molecular mass of the substituent on the Cα atom is increased, the amide II band wavenumber decreases to below 1500 cm−1; this may be a consequence of increased strain on the DKP ring. The cis amide II Raman band is characterized by its relatively small deuterium shift (29 cm−1), which indicates that this band has a smaller N H bending contribution than the trans amide II vibrational band observed for linear peptides.
