Both the Newton interpolating polynomials and the Thiele-type interpolating continued fractions based on inverse differences are used to construct a kind of bivariate blending rational interpolants and an error estimation is given.  相似文献

A new method for the construction of bivariate matrix-valued rational interpolants on a rectangular grid is introduced in this paper. The rational interpolants are of the continued fraction form, with scalar denominator. In this respect the approach is essentially different from that of Bose and Basu (1980) where a rational matrix-valued approximant with matrix-valued numerator and denominator is used for the approximation of a bivariate matrix power series. The matrix quotients are based on the generalized inverse for a matrix introduced by Gu Chuanqing and Chen Zhibing (1995) which is found to be effective in continued fraction interpolation. A sufficient condition of existence is obtained. Some important conclusions such as characterisation and uniqueness are proven respectfully. The inner connection between two type interpolating functions is investigated. Some examples are given so as to illustrate the results in the paper.  相似文献

Newton-Thiele's rational interpolants   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13
It is well known that Newton's interpolation polynomial is based on divided differences which produce useful intermediate results and allow one to compute the polynomial recursively. Thiele's interpolating continued fraction is aimed at building a rational function which interpolates the given support points. It is interesting to notice that Newton's interpolation polynomials and Thiele's interpolating continued fractions can be incorporated in tensor‐product‐like manner to yield four kinds of bivariate interpolation schemes. Among them are classical bivariate Newton's interpolation polynomials which are purely linear interpolants, branched continued fractions which are purely nonlinear interpolants and have been studied by Chaffy, Cuyt and Verdonk, Kuchminska, Siemaszko and many other authors, and Thiele-Newton's bivariate interpolating continued fractions which are investigated in another paper by one of the authors. In this paper, emphasis is put on the study of Newton-Thiele's bivariate rational interpolants. By introducing so‐called blending differences which look partially like divided differences and partially like inverse differences, we give a recursive algorithm accompanied with a numerical example. Moreover, we bring out the error estimation and discuss the limiting case. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In 1963, Wynn proposed a method for rational interpolation of vector-valued quantities given on a set of distinct interpolation points. He used continued fractions, and generalized inverses for the reciprocals of vector-valued quantities. In this paper, we present an axiomatic approach to vector-valued rational interpolation. Uniquely defined interpolants are constructed for vector-valued data so that the components of the resulting vector-valued rational interpolant share a common denominator polynomial. An explicit determinantal formula is given for the denominator polynomial for the cases of (i) vector-valued rational interpolation on distinct real or complex points and (ii) vector-valued Padé approximation. We derive the connection with theε-algorithm of Wynn and Claessens, and we establish a five-term recurrence relation for the denominator polynomials.  相似文献

We study rational interpolation formulas on the interval [−1,1] for a given set of real or complex conjugate poles outside this interval. Interpolation points which are near-best in a Chebyshev sense were derived in earlier work. The present paper discusses several computation aspects of the interpolation points and the corresponding interpolants. We also study a related set of points (that includes the end points), which is more suitable for applications in rational spectral methods. Some examples are given at the end of this paper.  相似文献

In this paper, by defining a kind of transformation from matrix to vector, we succeed in transferring some results on vector-valued rational interpolants to those corresponding to the matrix-valued rational interpolants. Moreover, it is pointed out through a numerical example that the statement of the so-called uniqueness theorem in [4] is incorrect and, what is more, the proof is also wrong. A new uniqueness theorem is given.  相似文献

Bivariate rational interpolating functions of the type introduced in [9, 1] are shown to have a natural extension to the case of rational interpolation of vector-valued quantities using the formalism of Graves-Morris [2]. In this paper, the convergence of Stieltjes-type branched vector-valued continued fractions for two-variable functions are constructed by using the Samelson inverse. Based on them, a kind of bivariate vector-valued rational interpolating function is defined on plane grids. Sufficient conditions for existence, characterisation and uniqueness for the interpolating functions are proved. The results in the paper are illustrated with some examples.  相似文献

Smoothing conditions in terms of Bézier coefficients of piecewise rational functions on an arbitrary triangulation are derived. This facilitates the solution of the problem of bivariate rational spline interpolation, with or without convexity constraints, particularly on the three and four-directional meshes. For such a triangulation, we also derive the conformality condition that a bivariate rationale spline function must satisfy, and we demonstrate the interpolation scheme with a low-degree example. The research of this author was supported by NSF Grant # DMS-92-06928.  相似文献
