It is known that classes of indefinite quadratic forms in a genus are classified by the Galois group of a spinor class field [4]. Hsia has proved the existence of a representation field F with the property that a lattice in the genus represents a fixed given lattice if and only if the corresponding element of the Galois group is trivial on F. Spinor class fields can also be used to classify conjugacy classes of maximal orders in a central simple algebra. In [1] we left open the issue of whether for every fixed given non-maximal order in a central simple division algebra there exists a representation field L with the property that embeds into a given maximal order if and only if the corresponding element of the Galois group is trivial on L. In this work we give a negative answer to this question for central simple division algebras of dimension ≥ 32. The case of non-division algebras is also treated by replacing the phrase embeds into by is contained in a conjugate of. As a byproduct of the techniques used in this paper we compute the representation field of an Eichler order in a quaternion algebra. Received: 8 April 2008  相似文献

Agarwal and Bressoud (Pacific J. Math. 136(2) (1989) 209–228) defined a class of weighted lattice paths and interpreted several q-series combinatorially. Using the same class of lattice paths, Agarwal (Utilitas Math. 53 (1998) 71–80; ARS Combinatoria 76 (2005) 151–160) provided combinatorial interpretations for several more q-series. In this paper, a new class of weighted lattice paths, which we call associated lattice paths is introduced. It is shown that these new lattice paths can also be used for giving combinatorial meaning to certain q-series. However, the main advantage of our associated lattice paths is that they provide a graphical representation for partitions with n + t copies of n introduced and studied by Agarwal (Partitions with n copies of n, Lecture Notes in Math., No. 1234 (Berlin/New York: Springer-Verlag) (1985) 1–4) and Agarwal and Andrews (J. Combin. Theory A45(1) (1987) 40–49).  相似文献

We show that if F is a totally real field in which p splits completely and f is a mod p Hilbert modular form with parallel weight 2 < k < p, which is ordinary at all primes dividing p and has tamely ramified Galois representation at all primes dividing p, then there is a “companion form” of parallel weight k′ := p + 1 − k. This work generalises results of Gross and Coleman–Voloch for modular forms over Q.  相似文献

We prove the modularity of certain residually reducible p-adic Galois representations of an imaginary quadratic field assuming the uniqueness of the residual representation. We obtain an R = T theorem using a new commutative algebra criterion that might be of independent interest. To apply the criterion, one needs to show that the quotient of the universal deformation ring R by its ideal of reducibility is cyclic Artinian of order no greater than the order of the congruence module T/J, where J is an Eisenstein ideal in the local Hecke algebra T. The inequality is proven by applying the Main conjecture of Iwasawa Theory for Hecke characters and using a result of Berger [Compos Math 145(3):603–632, 2009]. This strengthens our previous result [Berger and Klosin, J Inst Math Jussieu 8(4):669–692, 2009] to include the cases of an arbitrary p-adic valuation of the L-value, in particular, cases when R is not a discrete valuation ring. As a consequence we show that the Eisenstein ideal is principal and that T is a complete intersection.  相似文献

In a recent paper [Duke Math. J., 97, 219–233], Borcherds asks whether or not the spaces of vector valued modular forms associated to the Weil representation have bases of modular forms whose Fourier expansions have only integer coefficients. We give an affirmative answer to Borcherds' question. This strengthens and simplifies Borcherds' main theorem which is a generalization of a theorem of Gross, Kohnen, and Zagier [Math. Ann., 278, 497–562]. Received: 27 September 2001 / Revised version: 22 July 2002 / Published online: 28 March 2003 Mathematics Subject Classification (1991): 11F30; 11F27  相似文献

In [Michailov I.M., On Galois cohomology and realizability of 2-groups as Galois groups, Cent. Eur. J. Math., 2011, 9(2), 403–419] we calculated the obstructions to the realizability as Galois groups of 14 non-abelian groups of order 2 n , n ≥ 4, having a cyclic subgroup of order 2 n−2, over fields containing a primitive 2 n−3th root of unity. In the present paper we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the realizability of the remaining 8 groups that are not direct products of smaller groups.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce the notion of generalized implication for lattices, as a binary function ⇒ that maps every pair of elements of a lattice to an ideal. We prove that a bounded lattice A is distributive if and only if there exists a generalized implication ⇒ defined in A satisfying certain conditions, and we study the class of bounded distributive lattices A endowed with a generalized implication as a common abstraction of the notions of annihilator (Mandelker, Duke Math J 37:377–386, 1970), Quasi-modal algebras (Celani, Math Bohem 126:721–736, 2001), and weakly Heyting algebras (Celani and Jansana, Math Log Q 51:219–246, 2005). We introduce the suitable notions of morphisms in order to obtain a category, as well as the corresponding notion of congruence. We develop a Priestley style topological duality for the bounded distributive lattices with a generalized implication. This duality generalizes the duality given in Celani and Jansana (Math Log Q 51:219–246, 2005) for weakly Heyting algebras and the duality given in Celani (Math Bohem 126:721–736, 2001) for Quasi-modal algebras.  相似文献

We show the close connection between apparently different Galois theories for comodules introduced recently in [J. Gomez-Torrecillas and J. Vercruysse, Comatrix corings and Galois Comodules over firm rings, Algebr. Represent. Theory, 10 (2007), 271 306] and [Wisbauer, On Galois comodules, Comm. Algebra 34 (2006), 2683-2711]. Furthermore we study equivalences between categories of comodules over a coring and modules over a firm ring. We show that these equivalences are related to Galois theory for comodules.  相似文献

Kerdock codes (Kerdock, Inform Control 20:182–187, 1972) are a well-known family of non-linear binary codes with good parameters admitting a linear presentation in terms of codes over the ring (see Nechaev, Diskret Mat 1:123–139, 1989; Hammons et al., IEEE Trans Inform Theory 40:301–319, 1994). These codes have been generalized in different directions: in Calderbank et al. (Proc Lond Math Soc 75:436–480, 1997) a symplectic construction of non-linear binary codes with the same parameters of the Kerdock codes has been given. Such codes are not necessarily equivalent. On the other hand, in Kuzmin and Nechaev (Russ Math Surv 49(5), 1994) the authors give a family of non-linear codes over the finite field F of q = 2 l elements, all of them admitting a linear presentation over the Galois Ring R of cardinality q 2 and characteristic 22. The aim of this article is to merge both approaches, obtaining in this way new families of non-linear codes over F that can be presented as linear codes over the Galois Ring R. The construction uses symplectic spreads.   相似文献

In this paper, we determine completely the initial Fitting ideal of the minus part of the ideal class group of an abelian number field over Q up to the 2-component. This answers an open question of Mazur and Wiles (Invent Math 76:179–330, 1984) up to the 2-component, and proves Conjecture 0.1 in Kurihara (J Reine Angew Math 561:39–86, 2003). We also study Brumer’s conjecture and prove a stronger version for a CM-field, assuming certain conditions, in particular on the Galois group.  相似文献

In [Rong, F., Quasi-parabolic analytic transformations of C n , J. Math. Anal. Appl. 343 (2008), 99–109], we showed the existence of “parabolic curves” for certain quasi-parabolic analytic transformations of C n . Under some extra assumptions, we show the existence of “parabolic manifolds” for such transformations.  相似文献

A graph G is one-regular if its automorphism group Aut(G) acts transitively and semiregularly on the arc set. A Cayley graph Cay(Г, S) is normal if Г is a normal subgroup of the full automorphism group of Cay(Г, S). Xu, M. Y., Xu, J. (Southeast Asian Bulletin of Math., 25, 355-363 (2001)) classified one-regular Cayley graphs of valency at most 4 on finite abelian groups. Marusic, D., Pisanski, T. (Croat. Chemica Acta, 73, 969-981 (2000)) classified cubic one-regular Cayley graphs on a dihedral group, and all of such graphs turn out to be normal. In this paper, we classify the 4-valent one-regular normal Cayley graphs G on a dihedral group whose vertex stabilizers in Aut(G) are cyclic. A classification of the same kind of graphs of valency 6 is also discussed.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the weak convergence problems of the irnplicity iteration process for Lipschitzian pseudocontraction semigroups in general Banach spaces. The results presented in this paper extend and improve the corresponding results of Zhou [Nonlinear Anal., 68, 2977-2983 (2008)], Chen, et ah [J. Math. Anal. Appl., 314, 701 709 (2006)], Xu and Ori [Numer. Funct. Anal. Optim, 22, 767-773 (2001)] and Osilike [J. Math. Anal. Appl., 294, 73-81 (2004)]. Keywords  相似文献

A Dirichlet series with multiplicative coefficients has an Euler product representation. In this paper we consider the special case where these coefficients are derived from the numbers of representations of an integer by an integral quadratic form. At first we suppose this quadratic form to be positive definite. In general the representation numbers are not multiplicative. Instead we consider the average number of representations over all classes in the genus of the quadratic form. And we consider only representations of integers of the form tk 2 with t square-free. If we divide the average representation number for these integers by a suitable factor, we do get a multiplicative function. Using results from Siegel (Ann. Math. 36:527–606, 1935), we derive a uniform expression for the Euler product expansion of the corresponding Dirichlet series. As a special case, we consider the standard quadratic form in n variables corresponding to the identity matrix. Here we use results from Shimura (Am. J. Math. 124:1059–1081, 2002). For 2≤n≤8, the genus of this particular quadratic form contains only one class, and this leads to a rather simple expression for the Dirichlet series, where the coefficients are just the number of representations of a square as the sum of n squares. Finally we consider the indefinite case, where we can get results similar to the definite case.  相似文献

Abstract

In 1989 DeMeyer et al. (DeMeyer,F.,Harrison,D.,Miranda,R. (1989). Quadratic forms over ? and Galois extensions of commutative rings. Mem. Amer. Math. Soc. 77(394)) described the Witt ring of the rational number field in terms of Hilbert symbols. The same has been done by the first author for global function fields. The aim of this paper is to obtain a similar result for any global field.  相似文献

Ψ-density point of a Lebesgue measurable set was introduced by Taylor in [Taylor S.J., On strengthening the Lebesgue Density Theorem, Fund. Math., 1958, 46, 305–315] and [Taylor S.J., An alternative form of Egoroff’s theorem, Fund. Math., 1960, 48, 169–174] as an answer to a problem posed by Ulam. We present a category analogue of the notion and of the Ψ-density topology. We define a category analogue of the Ψ-density point of the set A at a point x as the Ψ-density point at x of the regular open representation of A.  相似文献

In [Ferrari, L. and Pinzani, R.: Lattices of lattice paths. J. Stat. Plan. Inference 135 (2005), 77–92] a natural order on Dyck paths of any fixed length inducing a distributive lattice structure is defined. We transfer this order to noncrossing partitions along a well-known bijection [Simion, R.: Noncrossing partitions. Discrete Math. 217 (2000), 367–409], thus showing that noncrossing partitions can be endowed with a distributive lattice structure having some combinatorial relevance. Finally we prove that our lattices are isomorphic to the posets of 312-avoiding permutations with the order induced by the strong Bruhat order of the symmetric group.  相似文献

Bounded commutative residuated lattice ordered monoids (Rℓ-monoids) are a common generalization of, e.g., Heyting algebras and BL-algebras, i.e., algebras of intuitionistic logic and basic fuzzy logic, respectively. Modal operators (special cases of closure operators) on Heyting algebras were studied in [MacNAB, D. S.: Modal operators on Heyting algebras, Algebra Universalis 12 (1981), 5–29] and on MV-algebras in [HARLENDEROVá,M.—RACHŮNEK, J.: Modal operators on MV-algebras, Math. Bohem. 131 (2006), 39–48]. In the paper we generalize the notion of a modal operator for general bounded commutative Rℓ-monoids and investigate their properties also for certain derived algebras. Sachs (Can J Math 14:451–460, 1962) showed that a Boolean algebra is determined by its lattice of subalgebras. We establish the corresponding result for orthomodular lattices. We show that an orthomodular lattice L is determined by its lattice of subalgebras Sub(L), as well as by its poset of Boolean subalgebras BSub(L). The domain BSub(L) has recently found use in an approach to the foundations of quantum mechanics initiated by Butterfield and Isham (Int J Theor Phys 37(11):2669–2733, 1998, Int J Theor Phys 38(3):827–859, 1999), at least in the case where L is the orthomodular lattice of projections of a Hilbert space, or von Neumann algebra. The results here may add some additional perspective to this line of work.  相似文献

We prove a variety of results on the existence of automorphic Galois representations lifting a residual automorphic Galois representation. We prove a result on the structure of deformation rings of local Galois representations, and deduce from this and the method of Khare and Wintenberger a result on the existence of modular lifts of specified type for Galois representations corresponding to Hilbert modular forms of parallel weight 2. We discuss some conjectures on the weights of n-dimensional mod p Galois representations. Finally, we use recent work of Taylor to prove level raising and lowering results for n-dimensional automorphic Galois representations.  相似文献
