提出了一种基于双通道马赫曾德尔调制器(DPMZM)调制边带滤波的微波光子移相器。在双通道马赫曾德尔调制器的结构中,在一路马赫曾德尔干涉仪上实现抑制光载波的双边带调制输出,而在另一路马赫曾德尔的相位调节臂上通过调节偏置电压实现光载波信号的光学移相,两路光信号经过干涉合路后由光纤布拉格光栅(FBG)滤除其中一个一阶边带,最后输入到光电探测器(PD)进行光电转换得到移相的微波信号。实验结果表明,基于DPMZM调制边带滤波的微波光子移相器具有传输特性稳定、输出幅度波动小的优点。该结构还具有相移调节响应速度快、应用频带宽以及移相范围大于360°等特点。  相似文献

Modulation thresholds were measured in three subjects for a sinusoidally amplitude-modulated (SAM) wideband noise (the signal) in the presence of a second amplitude-modulated wideband noise (the masker). In monaural conditions (Mm-Sm) masker and signal were presented to only one ear; in binaural conditions (M0-S pi) the masker was presented diotically while the phase of modulation of the SAM noise signal was inverted in one ear relative to the other. In experiment 1 masker modulation frequency (fm) was fixed at 16 Hz, and signal modulation frequency (fs) was varied from 2-512 Hz. For monaural presentation, masking generally decreased as fs diverged from fm, although there was a secondary increase in masking for very low signal modulation frequencies, as reported previously [Bacon and Grantham, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 85, 2575-2580 (1989)]. The binaural masking patterns did not show this low-frequency upturn: binaural thresholds continued to improve as fs decreased from 16 to 2 Hz. Thus, comparing masked monaural and masked binaural thresholds, there was an average binaural advantage, or masking-level difference (MLD) of 9.4 dB at fs = 2 Hz and 5.3 dB at fs = 4 Hz. In addition, there were positive MLDs for the on-frequency condition (fm = fs = 16 Hz: average MLD = 4.4 dB) and for the highest signal frequency tested (fs = 512 Hz: average MLD = 7.3 dB). In experiment 2 the signal was a SAM noise (fs = 16 Hz), and the masker was a wideband noise, amplitude-modulated by a narrow band of noise centered at fs. There was no effect on monaural or binaural thresholds as masker modulator bandwidth was varied from 4 to 20 Hz (the average MLD remained constant at 8.0 dB), which suggests that the observed "tuning" for modulation may be based on temporal pattern discrimination and not on a critical-band-like filtering mechanism. In a final condition the masker modulator was a 10-Hz-wide band of noise centered at the 64-Hz signal modulation frequency. The average MLD in this case was 7.4 dB. The results are discussed in terms of various binaural capacities that probably play a role in binaural release from modulation masking, including detection of varying interaural intensity differences (IIDs) and discrimination of interaural correlation.  相似文献

Based on a spatially dependent dynamic optical transfer function of an acoustooptic modulator, a dynamic model of light modulation by a sound signal under conditions of acoustic damping is developed. A system of equations describing the dynamics of the acoustooptic interaction is given. Solutions of this equation for arbitrary power level and spatial-time structure of a sound signal are found. It is shown that acoustooptic damping has the strongest effect in a nonlinear modulation regime. Here, the dissipation of an acoustic signal suppresses the higher harmonic of the dynamic optical transfer function. An analytical model of the dynamic optical transfer function for a low level of acoustooptic coupling is given. It is shown that when the pump beam aperture is much greater than the spatial size of an acoustic signal, the time response of the acoustooptic modulator response is identical within a phase factor to the amplitude profile of a pump beam apodized by the exponential dependence of the amplitude of a damped sound wave. Otherwise, the sound damping produces almost no distortions of a plane top of the acoustooptic modulator response to a pulsed signal and shows itself only under phase mismatch conditions. Here, the asymmetry of overshoots at the edges of the acoustooptic modulator response is observed. Calculated plots are presented, which illustrate the aforementioned specific features of the transient process under conditions of acoustic damping in the acoustooptic interaction in paratellurite.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel method based on the use of an optical phase filter is proposed to evaluate the modulation index, as well as the half-wave voltage of an optical phase modulator. When a phase modulated signal propagates along the length of a dispersive fiber, the fiber dispersion acts as an optical phase filter and spectrally alters the relative phasing of the phase modulated signal, causing the phase modulation to become intensity modulation, which allows the swept frequency measurement of phase modulators by using a vector network analyzer. The modulation index and half-wave voltage as a function of the modulation frequency are experimentally measured for a commercial phase modulator, which agree well with the results obtained using the widely accepted optical spectrum analysis method. The proposed method requires only a length of dispersive fiber and works without any small-signal approximation, which is applicable for different driving levels and operating wavelengths with the same setup.  相似文献

A modulator design capable of producing a new constant intensity modulation format is proposed. The modulator consists of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer containing two polarization modulators. By shifting the relative phase of the electrical drive signal applied to each polarization modulator by 90 degrees a modulation consisting of a carrier and a single sideband, polarized orthogonal to the carrier, is produced.  相似文献

An approach for photonic generation of a frequency-octupled phase-coded signal based on carrier-suppressed high-order double sideband modulation is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The key component of the scheme is an integrated dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying modulator, which is used to achieve the carrier-suppressed high-order double sideband modulation. At the output of the modulator, two fourth-order optical sidebands are generated with the optical carrier suppressed. After that, a Sagnac loop incorporating a fiber Bragg grating and a phase modulator is employed to separate the two optical sidebands and phase modulate one sideband with a binary coding signal. The approach features large carrier frequency tuning range for the generated phase-coded signal from several megahertz to beyond the W-band. A proof-of-concept experiment is carried out. The 2 Gbit/s phase-coded signals with frequencies of 16.48, 21.92, and 29.76 GHz are generated.  相似文献

An optical modulator that provides broadband phase modulation of microwave subcarriers directly in the photonic domain has been proposed. This modulator, which involves no millimeter-wave device, can provide a dispersion-tolerant output signal with arbitrary phase shift. Therefore it has wide applications in high-frequency radio over fiber systems employing complex constellation modulation. 提出一种基于互逆光纤色散的微波光子雷达系统设计方案,既可以产生宽带线性调频信号,又可以实现线性调频信号的光域脉冲压缩.在发射端利用互逆色散光纤产生线性调频信号.在接收端,雷达回波信号通过马赫-曾德调制器调制到预啁啾的光信号上,然后经过色散光纤的进一步色散.最终在探测器端可以得到目标回波信号脉冲压缩后的结果.该方案无需脉冲压缩过程中数字化和离线处理,且具有脉冲压缩比的调谐作用.理论、数值仿真和实验证明了该设计方案能有效进行线性调频信号的光域脉冲压缩.实验产生了C波段下时宽1.2ns,带宽3.2GHz的线性调频信号,并通过互逆色散光纤将该信号压缩到了0.09ns,脉冲压缩比达13.3.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new modulation and direct detection scheme of optical phase shift keying (PSK)which is simple and practical in fiber optical communication. A phase modulator is used to modulate a continuous wave (CW) laser source and return-to-zero (RZ) signal that is changed from the initial transmitting information is used to control a phase modulator to form a optical PSK signal. In the receiver terminal, just add a signal delayed a half of one bit to itself so that the initial information can be restored.  相似文献

Phase modulation of presently used phase-shifting interferometers is assumed to be spatially uniform across the observing aperture. However, calibration errors or the configuration of an interferometer can cause a spatial nonuniformity in the phase modulation. Spatial nonuniformity causes a significant error in the measured phase when the phase modulator has nonlinear sensitivity. An even-order nonlinearity in the phase modulation in particular contributes to the errors. Lowest-order errors can be suppressed by adding a new symmetry to the sampling functions of the phase-shifting algorithm, however the algorithm suffers from large random noise. The random noise is shown to be decreased substantially by applying one more sampled frame to the algorithm. We derive new seven-sample and eight-sample algorithms that can compensate for a nonuniform phase shift and has much less random noise than the previous algorithm we proposed.  相似文献

A novel photonic technique for instantaneous frequency measurement of microwave signal based on phase modulation to intensity modulation conversion is proposed and demonstrated. In the proposed system, an optical carrier is modulated by a microwave signal with its frequency to be measured through a phase modulator. The phase-modulated optical signal is then converted to intensity-modulated signals in two independent paths using a dispersive media and a frequency discriminator respectively. Since the dependence of the received microwave power on the input microwave frequency in the two paths differs, the microwave power ratio between the two paths can be used to uniquely determine the microwave frequency. The major advantages of the approach lie in that only one laser source and the bias-free phase modulator is employed in the system, which improves the stability of the system. Experimental demonstrations of the frequency measurement based on the proposed approach are presented.  相似文献

介绍了一种新型被动综合孔径成像探测方法:视场辐射信号被接收和放大后,通过电光幅度调制将其幅度和相位信息加载到光波上,经光纤传输在末端形成阵列,通过光学系统直接成像,将视场实时恢复出来.该方法可实现工作在微波、毫米波和太赫兹波段的高分辨力实时成像探测的目的.深入分析了电光调制器在综合孔径成像探测中的应用,建立电光调制模型,讨论了在小信号调制下的电光幅度调制近似理论.通过数值计算与仿真分析,得到综合孔径成像探测中电光调制器的调制信号强度限制的有关结论.结果表明,利用上变频电光调制技术和光信息处理,所得到的成像仿真图的半峰全宽和信噪比性能都优于传统的基于下变频技术的成像仿真结果.  相似文献

Bound solitons generated in actively mode-locked lasers enable new forms of pulse pairs and multiple pairs or groups of solitons in optical transmission or logics. In this paper, we present the generation of stable bound states of multiple solitons in an active mode-locked fiber laser using continuous phase modulation for wideband phase matching. Not only that dual-soliton bound states but also the triple- and quadruple-soliton pulses can be established. Simulation of the generated solitons are demonstrated. We have also prove by simulation that experimental relative phase difference and chirping caused by phase modulation of LiNbO3 modulator in the fiber loop significantly influences the interaction between the solitons and hence their stability as they circulate in the anomalous path-averaged dispersion fiber loop.  相似文献

In this paper, the improvement method of the traditional optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) is demonstrated to measure the half-wave voltage of LiNbO3 phase modulator with low RF driving. Based on calculating the measured powers ratio of the carrier and first-order side band with optical spectrum analyzer (OSA), the phase modulation index is between 0.5 and 1.43 and the voltage of driving signal is lower than 0.796 V, the accurate characterization of the phase modulator is obtained. By using this method, the half-wave voltage of a LiNbO3 phase modulator had been measured in the frequency range of 26 GHz. And, our experimental results showed a good agreement between the measured data and those provided by the manufacturer in 9 GHz frequency range. It is an accurate and easy method to measure the half-wave voltages of a phase modulators, especially for measuring high the frequency response.  相似文献

采用双波长注入一包含伪随机码发生器与相位调制器的光电振荡器可以同时得到非归零(NRZ)码,归零(RZ)码以及光,电时钟信号输出。该方案使用了光域耦合的双环路结构,在不增加有源器件的条件下实现边模抑制。相位调制器用于反馈调制并同时实现占空比可调的非归零码到归零码的转换。双波长的注入排除了编码信号在振荡器中引入的非时钟频率成分。实验给出了10 Gb/s工作速率下的结果,得到了抖动为637 fs的光信号输出。转换得到的归零码信号占空比约为33%。输出电时钟信号的相位噪声在频偏10 kHz处为-109 dBc/Hz,边模抑制比为58 dB。  相似文献

A method of producing an arbitrary complex field modulation by use of two pixels of an analog ferroelectric spatial light modulator (SLM) is demonstrated. The method uses the gray-scale modulation capabilities of a SLM to spatially encode the complex data on two pixels. A spatial filter is used to remove the carrier signal. We present a tunable wideband bismuth-substituted yttrium iron garnet (Bi-YIG) waveguide magneto-optic (MO) modulator. High-speed current transients are used to switch the in-plane magnetization of the film, which modulates an 800 nm optical beam. Large bandwidth optical modulation is achieved by driving the device in a non-resonant mode that is well below the ferromagnetic resonance frequency of the film. The MO modulator has the potential of operating at bandwidths higher than 1 GHz by tuning the applied static magnetic field.  相似文献

Holographic data storage applications often use liquid crystal displays as spatial light-amplitude modulators for writing data images. The hologram created in the Fourier plane is usually applied to store the information, since this plane supplies optimal data density. A well known technique for homogenizing the light distribution in the Fourier plane is the application of external random phase modulating masks. The requirement for pixel by pixel matched positioning of the phase modulating mask and the pixels of the spatial light-amplitude modulator is hard to solve in the optical systems and any positioning error leads to significant signal degradations. The article analyses the possibilities of realizing the required simultaneous amplitude and phase modulation of light with the application of a single LCD. Twisted nematic LCDs with different maximal birefringence are numerically investigated using the Jones matrix method. Elliptical incident and exit polarizations are proposed, by which ternary phase-amplitude modulation (+1,–1,0) can be realized. Test measurements are also presented that demonstrate the validity of the calculated results.  相似文献
