We show that for every fixed A > 0 and θ > 0 there is a ϑ = ϑ(A, θ) > 0 with the following property. Let n be odd and sufficiently large, and let Q 1 = Q 2:= n 1/2(log n)ϑ and Q 3:= (log n) θ . We show that there is a close relation between standing-wave solutions for the FitzHugh-Nagumo system where 0<a<1/2 and δ γ=β 2 ∈ (0,a), and the following combinatorial problem: (*) Given K points Q 1 , . . . , Q K R N with minimum distance 1, find out the maximum number of times that the minimum distance 1 can occur. More precisely, we show that for any given positive integer K, there is a δ K >0 such that for 0<δ<δ K , there exists a standing-wave solution (u δ ,ν δ ) to the FitzHugh-Nagumo system with the property that u δ has K spikes Q δ 1,. . .,Q δ K and approaches an optimal configuration in (*), where .  相似文献

We construct a parametric family {E (±)(s,t,u)} of minimal Q-curves of degree 5 over the quadratic fields Q , and the family {C(s,t,u)} of genus two curves over Q covering E {(+)(s,t,u) whose jacobians are abelian surfaces of GL2-type. We also discuss the modularity for them and the sign change between E {(+)(s,t,u) and its twist E (−)(s,t,u), which correspond by modularity to cusp forms of trivial and non-trivial Neben type characters, respectively. We find in {C(s,t,u)} concrete equations of curves over Q whose jacobians are isogenous over cyclic quartic fields to Shimura's abelian surfaces A f attached to cusp forms of Neben type character of level N= 29, 229, 349, 461, and 509. In this article, we study the boundedness of pseudo-differential operators with symbols in S ρ,δ m on the modulation spaces M p,q . We discuss the order m for the boundedness Op(S ρ,δ m )⊂ℒ(M p,q ) to be true. We also prove the existence of a Calderón-Zygmund operator which is not bounded on the modulation space M p,q with q≠2. This unboundedness is still true even if we assume a generalized T(1) condition. These results are induced by the unboundedness of pseudo-differential operators on M p,q whose symbols are of the class S 1,δ 0 with 0<δ<1.   相似文献

We generalize Weil’s converse theorem to Jacobi cusp forms of weight k, index m and Dirichlet character χ over the group Γ 0(N)⋉ℤ2. Then two applications of this result are given; we generalize a construction of Jacobi forms due to Skogman and present a new proof for several known lifts of such Jacobi forms to half-integral weight modular forms.  相似文献

It is proved under certain assumptions that spinor Euler products for Siegel eigen cusp forms with characters with respect to the groups Γ2 0(q) have holomorphic analytical continuation over the whole complex plane and satisfy a functional equation with two gamma-factors. In this paper, we introduce the notion of a constrained Minkowski sum: for two (finite) point-sets P,Q⊆ℝ2 and a set of k inequalities Axb, it is defined as the point-set (P Q) Axb ={x=p+qpP,qQ,Axb}. We show that typical interval problems from computational biology can be solved by computing a set containing the vertices of the convex hull of an appropriately constrained Minkowski sum. We provide an algorithm for computing such a set with running time O(Nlog N), where N=|P|+|Q| if k is fixed. For the special case where P and Q consist of points with integer x 1-coordinates whose absolute values are bounded by O(N), we even achieve a linear running time O(N). We thereby obtain a linear running time for many interval problems from the literature and improve upon the best known running times for some of them. The main advantage of the presented approach is that it provides a general framework within which a broad variety of interval problems can be modeled and solved. T. We say that two points x, y of a cap C form a free pair of points if any plane containing x and y intersects C in at most three points. For given N and q, we denote by m2+ (N, q) the maximum number of points in a cap of PG(N, q) that contains at least one free pair of points. It is straightforward to prove that m2+ (N, q) ≤ (qN-1 + 2q − 3)/(q − 1), and it is known that this bound is sharp for q = 2 and all N. We use geometric constructions to prove that this bound is sharp for all q when N ≤ 4. We briefly survey the motivation for constructions of caps with free pairs of points which comes from the area of statistical experimental design. In this paper we study quantitative properties of non-negative (super) solutions for elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations of second order with strongly singular coefficients, in which we cannot expect Harnack's inequality in general. We show the doubling property ofu δ with some small exponent 1>δ>0 for non-negative weak supersolutionsu. In this work we consider the behaviour for large values of p of the unique positive weak solution u p to Δ p u = u q in Ω, u = +∞ on , where q > p − 1. We take q = q(p) and analyze the limit of u p as p → ∞. We find that when q(p)/pQ the behaviour strongly depends on Q. If 1 < Q < ∞ then solutions converge uniformly in compacts to a viscosity solution of with u = +∞ on . If Q = 1 then solutions go to ∞ in the whole Ω and when Q = ∞ solutions converge to 1 uniformly in compact subsets of Ω, hence the boundary blow-up is lost in the limit.  相似文献

Let O\mathcal{O} be an orbit in ℤ n of a finitely generated subgroup Λ of GL n (ℤ) whose Zariski closure Zcl(Λ) is suitably large (e.g. isomorphic to SL2). We develop a Brun combinatorial sieve for estimating the number of points on O\mathcal{O} at which a fixed integral polynomial is prime or has few prime factors, and discuss applications to classical problems, including Pythagorean triangles and integral Apollonian packings. A fundamental role is played by the expansion property of the “congruence graphs” that we associate with O\mathcal{O} . This expansion property is established when Zcl(Λ)=SL2, using crucially sum-product theorem in ℤ/qℤ for q square-free.  相似文献
