We study possible phenomenological consequences of the recently proposed new approach to the Weinberg-Salam model. The electroweak theory is considered as a gravity and the Higgs particle is interpreted in it as a dilaton, without the usual potential of interaction in the Higgs sector. We have taken as a test the process of photon pair production, e + + e Z + γ + γ. In the framework of new formulation this reaction is mediated in the lowest order by the dilaton. We derive the width of the Higgs boson into vector bosons. General formulas are derived both for the on–shell decay as well for the off–shell decays, and , where . For the off-shell decays the width of the decaying vector boson is properly included. The formulas are valid both for the Standard Model as well as for arbitrary extensions. As an example we study in detail the gauge-invariant effective Lagrangian models where we can have sizable enhancements over the Standard Model that could be observed at LEP. We reconsider observables for discovering and measuring the mass of a Higgs boson via its dileptonic decays h → W W* → ?ν?ν. We define an observable generalizing the transverse mass that takes into account the fact that one of the intermediate W bosons is likely to be on shell. We compare this new variable with existing ones and argue that it gives a significant improvement for discovery in the region mh < 2 mW.  相似文献

We explore the possibility of distinguishing the SM-like MSSM Higgs boson from the SM Higgs boson via Higgs boson pair production at future muon collider. We study the behavior of the production cross-section in SM and MSSM with Higgs boson mass for various MSSM parameters tan β and m A . We observe that at fixed CM energy, in the SM, the total cross-section increases with the increase in Higgs boson mass whereas this trend is reversed for the MSSM. The changes that occur for the MSSM in comparison to the SM predictions are quantified in terms of the relative percentage deviation in cross-section. The observed deviations in cross-section for different choices of Higgs boson masses suggest that the measurements of the cross-section could possibly distinguish the SM-like MSSM Higgs boson from the SM Higgs boson.   相似文献

The problem of ferromagnetism – associated with a ground state with maximal total spin – is discussed in the framework of a hard-core model, which forbids the occupancy at each site with more than one particle. It is shown that the emergence of ferromagnetism on finite square lattices crucially depends on the statistics of the particles. Fermions (electrons) lead to the well-known instabilities for finite hole densities, whereas for bosons (with spin) ferromagnetism appears to be stable for all hole densities.  相似文献

Precision electroweak data are generally believed to constrain the Higgs boson mass to lie below approximately 190 GeV at 95% confidence level. The standard Higgs model is, however, trivial and can only be an effective field theory valid below some high energy scale characteristic of the underlying nontrivial physics. Corrections to the custodial isospin violating parameter T arising from interactions at this higher energy scale dramatically enlarge the allowed range of Higgs mass. We perform a fit to precision electroweak data and determine the region in the (m(H),delta T) plane that is consistent with experimental results. Overlaying the estimated size of corrections to T arising from the underlying dynamics, we find that a Higgs mass up to 500 GeV is allowed.  相似文献

We show that a natural realization of the thermostatistics of q bosons can be built on the formalism of q calculus, and that the entire structure of thermodynamics is preserved if we use an appropriate Jackson derivative in place of the ordinary thermodynamics derivative. This framework allows us to obtain a generalized q boson entropy which depends on the q basic number. We study the ideal q boson gas in the thermodynamic limit which is shown to exhibit Bose-Einstein condensation with a higher critical temperature and a discontinuous specific heat.  相似文献

A one-loop calculation of pseudo-Goldstone boson masses in a spontaneously broken gauge model indicates that they are either identically zero or too large (of the order of several GeV) to be identified with the pion masses. The former possibility, which suggests that the pion mass may have its origin in even higher order weak and electromagnetic corrections, is investigated.  相似文献

We analyze the free boson gas on a Cayley tree using two alternative methods. The spectrum of the lattice Laplacian on a finite tree is obtained using a direct iterative method for solving the associated characteristic equation and also using a random walk representation for the corresponding fermion lattice gas. The existence of the thermodynamic limit for the pressure of the boson lattice gas is proven and it is shown that the model exhibits boson condensation into the ground state. The random walk representation is also used to derive an expression for the Bethe approximation to the infinite-volume spectrum. This spectrum turns out to be continuous instead of a dense point spectrum, but there is still boson condensation in this approximation.  相似文献

Considering the process pp → VH+X(V = W or Z) is a significant channel for searching for a light Higgs boson,we calculate the contributions of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity(called LHT model) to its production cross section.We find that,in most of the parameter space,the value of the relative correction parameter R is very small.However,with reasonable values of the free parameters,its value can be significantly larger.  相似文献
