We analyze magnetic penetration depth (lambda) data of the recently discovered superconducting pyrochlore oxide RbOs(2)O(6). Our results strongly suggest that in RbOs(2)O(6) charged critical fluctuations dominate the temperature dependence of lambda near T(c). This is in contrast with the mean-field behavior observed in conventional superconductors and the uncharged critical behavior found in nearly optimally doped cuprate superconductors. However, this finding agrees with the theoretical predictions for charged criticality and the charged criticality observed in underdoped YBa(2)Cu(3)O(6.59).  相似文献

We report transverse-field and zero-field muon spin rotation and relaxation studies of the superconducting rhenium oxide pyrochlore, Cd2Re2O7. Transverse-field measurements (H=0.007 T) show line broadening below T(c), which is characteristic of a vortex state, demonstrating conclusively the type-II nature of this superconductor. The penetration depth is seen to level off below about 400 mK (T/T(c) approximately 0.4), with a rather large value of lambda(T=0) approximately 7500 A. The temperature independent behavior below approximately 400 mK is consistent with a nodeless superconducting energy gap. Zero-field measurements indicate no static magnetic fields developing below the transition temperature.  相似文献

We report nuclear magnetic resonance studies on the beta-pyrochlore oxide superconductor KOs2O6. The nuclear relaxation at the K sites is entirely caused by fluctuations of the electric field gradient, which we ascribe to highly anharmonic low frequency oscillation (rattling) of K ions. A phenomenological analysis shows a crossover from overdamped to underdamped behavior of the rattling phonons with decreasing temperature and its sudden sharpening below the superconducting transition temperature T(c). Suppression of the Hebel-Slichter peak in the relaxation rate at the O sites below T(c) also indicates strong electron-phonon coupling.  相似文献

A miniature Hall-sensor array was used to detect magnetic induction locally in the vortex states of the beta-pyrochlore superconductor KOs2O6. Below the first-order transition at T{p} approximately 8 K, which is associated with a change in the rattling motion of K ions, the lower critical field and the remanent magnetization both show a distinct decrease, suggesting that the electron-phonon coupling is weakened below the transition. At high magnetic fields, the local induction shows an unexpectedly large jump at T{p} whose sign changes with position inside the sample. Our results demonstrate a novel redistribution of vortices whose energy is reduced abruptly below the first-order transition at T{p}.  相似文献

We report the first measurements of the magnetic-field penetration depth in the heavy electron superconductor UBe13, performed using a SQUID magnetometer. We find the temperature dependence of (T)-(0) to follow aT 2 law at low temperatures, giving further evidence of extreme gap anisotropy in this compound. We calculate the temperature dependence expected for a variety of anisotropic states, including those representing certain classes of exotic pairing. In general situations, the supercurrent is not parallel to the vector potential, and a more complicated field penetration takes the place of the normal Meissner effect. We argue that the data are consistent with an energy gap with point nodes on the Fermi surface but inconsistent with the large value of the Landau parameterF 1 S expected for a translationally invariant Fermi liquid with large effective mass.  相似文献

The magnetic penetration depth of a quasi-two dimensional d-wave superconductor in the presence of nonlineary, nonlocality, and impurity effects is investigated by using Green’s function method. It is shown that a d-wave superconductor would inevitably avoid the violation of the Nernst theorem by creating a T2 term in its penetration depth through a competition of nonlinear, nonlocal, and impurity effects and this system may be stable at low temperatures. I also show that in the impure sample at low temperatures, T < T* ∝ γ the impurity effect determines the temperature dependence of the penetration depth, i.e., nonlocal and nonlinear effects are completely masked by impurities.  相似文献

It is known that in superconductors the exponential decay of the magnetic field is an approximation, which breaks down if the dimension of a Cooper pair ξ f is of the order or smaller than the London penetration depth δ. The appearance of a nonlocal relation between current and field yields deviations from the exponential decay especially a sign reversal of the field at a certain distance. This sign reversal is connected with a change: of the surface energy in superconductors and of the structure of fluxoids together with their interaction. In this paper we present results on the decay of magnetic field which is calculated from the exact BCS-integral-kernel for weak fields. As a result, the nonlocal effects in the framework of BCS-theory can be described in good approximation by the ratio of the London penetration depth δ(T, l) and the dimension of Cooper pairs ξ f (T, l). The evaluations show, that one has still sign reversal, i.e. large nonlocal effects, in Type II superconductors with a κ(T c )?,1.6. It should be mentioned that the limit κ?1.6 coincides roughly with the experimentally observed region of attraction of fluxoids. In addition results on the penetration depths are summarized.  相似文献

Low temperature magnetization measurements on the pyrochlore spin ice compound Dy2Ti2O7 reveal that the ice-rule breaking spin flip, appearing at H approximately 0.9 T applied parallel to the [111] direction, turns into a novel first-order transition for T<0.36 K which is most probably of a liquid-gas type. T-linear variation of the critical field observed down to 0.03 K suggests the unusual situation that the entropy release across the transition remains finite [approximately 0.5 (J/K) x mol-Dy] as T-->0, in accordance with a breaking of the macroscopic degeneracy in the intermediate "kagomé ice" state.  相似文献

The pyrochlore molybdate Gd2MO2O7 locates near the phase boundary between the ferromagnetic-metallic and the spin-glass insulating state. This metal-insulator transition is governed on a large energy scale by the electron-correlation effect, while the geometrical frustration causes the random potential. The magnetic field can tune the randomness of the potential and control, under a suitable pressure, the continuous Mott-Anderson transition precisely. The critical exponent (mu = 1.04 +/- 0.1) of the Mott-Anderson transition has been determined for this ferromagnetic orbital-degenerate electron system.  相似文献

The influence of hydrostatic pressure and of magnetic field strenght is presented for the low temperature antiferromagnetic ordering temperature (TN=2.3 K) of GdBa2Cu3O7-x. Data are presented for both superconducting and normal samples, the superconducting sample having a sharp 95 K transition and the oxygen-depleted normal sample being a semiconductor. For both systems the Néel temperatures, extrapolated to zero measuring field, are identical: TN = (2.33±0.03) K. The effect of pressure is to raise the transition temperature slightly for both samples, dTN/dP=+0.03 K/kbar for the superconducting sample and +0.04 K/kbar for the normal sample. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity made in several fixed external magnetic fields and the isothermal magnetization for T<TN provide a measure of the antiferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase boundary, which shows TN approaching T=0 K at about 2.5 T.  相似文献

We have measured interlayer current transport in small-sized RuSr2GdCu2O8 single crystals. We find a clear intrinsic Josephson effect showing that the material acts as a natural superconductor-insulator-ferromagnet-insulator-superconductor superlattice. Thus far, we detected no unconventional behavior due to the magnetism of the RuO2 layers.  相似文献

Hydrostatic pressure has negligible effect on the resistivity anomaly and thec H /a H ratio of Ti2O3. The results are consistent with the band-crossing mechanism wherein the a T and e T bands cross as thec H /a H ratio increases.  相似文献

We report precision transverse fieldSR measurements of the internal field distribution in the vortex state of crystalline YBa2Cu3O6.95. A novel low background apparatus was used to study a mosaic sample of three high quality single crystals (Tc=93.3K). The observed frequency spectra in magnetic fields of 5kG and 15 kG applied along the c-axis have the characteristic features expected for a regular vortex lattice with some additional broadening. From a preliminary analysis we find that [(0)/(T)]2 has a linear temperature coefficient forT<30 K. Such a term is inconsistent with simple s-wave pairing in the superconducting state. These results support recent microwave measurements of(T) on similar crystals in zero applied field but differ significantly from previousSR reports on sintered powders and crystals with lower Tc.This research was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.  相似文献

To elucidate the nature of the superconducting ground state of the geometrically frustrated pyrochlore KOs2O6 (Tc=9.6 K), the thermal conductivity was measured down to low temperatures (approximately Tc/100). We found that the quasiparticle mean free path is strikingly enhanced below a transition at Tp=7.8 K, indicating enormous electron inelastic scattering in the normal state. In magnetic fields, the conduction at T-->0 K is nearly constant up to approximately 0.4Hc2, in contrast with the rapid growth expected for superconductors with an anisotropic gap. This unambiguously indicates a fully gapped superconductivity, in contrast with previous studies. These results highlight that KOs2O6 is unique among superconductors with strong electron correlations.  相似文献
