This paper considers a general form of the porous medium equation with nonlinear source term: ut=(D(u)uxn)x+F(u), n≠1. The functional separation of variables of this equation is studied by using the generalized conditional symmetry approach. We obtain a complete list of canonical forms for such equations which admit the functional separable solutions. As a consequence, some exact solutions to the resulting equations are constructed, and their behavior are also investigated.  相似文献

Special exact solutions of the K(2, 2) equation, ut + (u2)x + (u2)xxx = 0, are investigated by employing the qualitative theory of differential equations. Our procedure shows that the K(2, 2) equation either has loop soliton, cusped soliton and smooth soliton solutions when sitting on the non-zero constant pedestal limx→±∞u = A ≠ 0, or possesses compacton solutions only when limx→±∞u = 0. Mathematical analysis and numerical simulations are provided for these soliton solutions of the K(2, 2) equation.  相似文献

Travelling wave solutions for the general modified CH-DP equation ut − uxxt + αu2ux − βuxuxx = uuxxx are developed. By using the dynamical system method, a peakon and a dark soliton are found to coexist for the same wave speed. Exact explicit blow-up solutions are given. In this paper, we propose a new high accuracy numerical method of O(k2 + k2h2 + h4) based on off-step discretization for the solution of 3-space dimensional non-linear wave equation of the form utt = A(x,y,z,t)uxx + B(x,y,z,t)uyy + C(x,y,z,t)uzz + g(x,y,z,t,u,ux,uy,uz,ut), 0 < x,y,z < 1,t > 0 subject to given appropriate initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions, where k > 0 and h > 0 are mesh sizes in time and space directions respectively. We use only seven evaluations of the function g as compared to nine evaluations of the same function discussed in  and . We describe the derivation procedure in details of the algorithm. The proposed numerical algorithm is directly applicable to wave equation in polar coordinates and we do not require any fictitious points to discretize the differential equation. The proposed method when applied to a telegraphic equation is also shown to be unconditionally stable. Comparative numerical results are provided to justify the usefulness of the proposed method.  相似文献

We investigate the existence of reflection formulas supported on a finite set. It is found that for solutions of the Laplace and Helmholtz equation there are no finitely supported reflection principles unless the support is a single point. This confirms that in order to construct a reflection formula that is not ‘point to point’, it is necessary to consider a continuous support. For solutions of the wave equation 2u/∂xy=0, there exist finitely supported reflection principles that can be constructed explicitly. For solutions of the telegraph equation 2u/∂xy+λ2u=0, we show that if a reflection principle is supported on less than five points then it is a point to point reflection principle.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation iutuxx+V(x)u+f(2|u|)u=0 on [0,πR under the boundary conditions a1u(t,0)−b1ux(t,0)=0, a2u(t,π)+b2ux(t,π)=0, , for i=1,2. It is proved that for a prescribed and analytic positive potential V(x), the above equation admits small-amplitude quasi-periodic solutions corresponding to d-dimensional invariant tori of the associated infinite-dimensional dynamical system.  相似文献

We study the nonlinear parabolic equation , in Rn×(0,∞) with boundary condition u(x,0)=u0(x), not necessarily bounded function. The nonlinearity φ((x,t),u) is required to satisfy some conditions related to the parabolic Kato class P(Rn) while allowing existence of positive solutions of the equation and continuity of such solutions. In previous papers we considered the Cauchy problem for the one-dimensional evolution p-Laplacian equation for nonzero, bounded, and nonnegative initial data having compact support, and showed that after a finite time the set of spatial critical points of the nonnegative solution u=u(xt) in {u>0} consists of one point, the spatial maximum point of u, and the curve of the spatial maximum points is continuous with respect to the time variable. Since the spatial derivative ∂xu satisfies the porous medium equation with sign changes, the curve of the spatial maximum points is regarded as an interface with sign changes of ∂xu. On the other hand, in a paper by M. Bertsch and D. Hilhorst (1991, Appl. Anal.41, 111-130) the interfaces where the solutions change their sign were studied in detail for the initial-boundary value problems of the generalized porous medium equation over two-dimensional cylinders. But the monotonicity of the initial data is assumed there. As is noted in Section 4 of our earlier work (1996, J. Math. Anal. Appl.203, 78-103), the monotonicity of ∂xu(?, t) in some neighborhood of the spatial maximum point of u(?, t) cannot be assumed, and therefore, if this monotonicity for some large t>0 is proved, then by the method of Bertsch and Hilhorst (cited above) one may get more precise regularity properties of the curve of the spatial maximum points. The purpose of the present paper is twofold. One is to remove some monotonicity assumption for initial data in Bertsch and Hilhorst's theorem concerning the regularity of the interfaces with sign changes of solutions of the one-dimensional generalized porous medium equation. By comparing the solution with appropriate symmetric nonnegative solutions we shall get the monotonicity of the solution near the interface after a finite time. The other is as a by-product of the method to get C1 regularity of the curves of the spatial maximum points of nonnegative solutions of the Cauchy problem for the evolution p-Laplacian equation for sufficiently large t.  相似文献

We consider the low regularity of the Benney-Lin equation ut+uux+uxxx+β(uxx+uxxxx)+ηuxxxxx=0. We established the global well posedness for the initial value problem of Benney-Lin equation in the Sobolev spaces Hs(R) for 0?s>−2, improving the well-posedness result of Biagioni and Linares [H.A. Biaginoi, F. Linares, On the Benney-Lin and Kawahara equation, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 211 (1997) 131-152]. For s<−2 we also prove some ill-posedness issues.  相似文献

We consider a mixed problem of a damped wave equation utt−Δu+ut=|u|p in the two dimensional exterior domain case. Small global in time solutions can be constructed in the case when the power p on the nonlinear term |u|p satisfies p∗=2<p<+∞. For this purpose we shall deal with a radially symmetric solution in the exterior domain. A new device developed in Ikehata-Matsuyama (Sci. Math. In this paper, one-dimensional (1D) nonlinear wave equation uttuxx+mu+u3=0, subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions is considered. We show that for each given m>0, and each prescribed integer b>1, the above equation admits a Whitney smooth family of small-amplitude quasi-periodic solutions with b-dimensional Diophantine frequencies, which correspond to b-dimensional invariant tori of an associated infinite-dimensional dynamical system. In particular, these Diophantine frequencies are the small dilation of a prescribed Diophantine vector. The proof is based on a partial Birkhoff normal form reduction and an improved KAM method.  相似文献

In this paper a porous medium equation with a moving localized source ut=uru+af(u(x0(t),t))) is considered. It is shown that under certain conditions solutions of the above equation blow up in finite time for large a or large initial data while there exist global positive solutions to the above equation for small a or small initial data. Moreover, in one space dimension case, it is also shown that all global positive solutions of the above equation are uniformly bounded, and this differs from that of a porous medium equation with a local source.  相似文献
