The CP asymmetries of the decay
, which originates from
flavor-changing neutral-current processes, and its CP-averaged branching ratio BR
offer interesting avenues to explore flavor physics. We show that we may characterize this channel, within the standard model, in a theoretically clean manner through a surface in observable space. In order to extract the relevant information from BR
, further information is required, which is provided by the
system and the SU(3) flavor symmetry, where we include the leading factorizable SU(3)-breaking corrections and discuss how experimental insights into non-factorizable effects can be obtained. We point out that the standard model implies a lower bound for BR
, which is very close to its current experimental upper bound, thereby suggesting that this decay should soon be observed. Moreover, we explore the implications for color suppression in the
system, and convert the data for these modes in a peculiar standard-model pattern for the CP-violating
observables.Received: 3 August 2004, Published online: 15 November 2004 相似文献

A high-quality double-polarization data set for the helicity dependence of the total and differential cross-sections for both
channels in the
region has been obtained in the framework of the GDH experiment. The experiment, performed at the Mainz microtron MAMI, used a 4
detection system, a circularly polarized photon beam, and a longitudinally polarized frozen-spin target. These data are included in the database to perform a multipole analysis to determine the properties of the

We compute the one-loop
-functions describing the renormalisation of the coupling constant
and the frequency parameter
for the real four-dimensional duality-covariant non-commutative
-model, which is renormalisable to all orders. The contribution from the one-loop four-point function is reduced by the one-loop wavefunction renormalisation, but the

exists at least at the one-loop level.Received: 19 March 2004, Published online: 5 May 2004 相似文献

The

We have applied the shell correction approach with the axially deformed Woods-Saxon potential in order to calculate the deformation energy for the 149La ground state. High-spin states in the odd-proton nucleus 173Lu have been populated in a 170Er(7Li,4n) reaction and the emitted

The
interaction in the scalar isoscalar channel is studied as a function of the baryonic density in the framework of a chiral unitary approach which successfully reproduces vacuum
-
phase shifts. We present some results on the
-meson pole, which is generated dynamically in our model, in nuclear matter. Finally, we analyze the (
) reaction on nucleons and nuclei in the kinematical region where the scalar isoscalar
scattering amplitude is influenced by the low mass of the
in nuclei, and thus, presents a large enhancement close to the position of its pole. Indeed, we find, that the final-state interaction of the pions modified by the nuclear medium produces a large shift of strength of the two-pion invariant-mass distribution in the (
) channel consistent with recent experimental data.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS:

We investigate inclusive
photoproduction off complex nuclei, concentrating on the feasibility to examine a possible in-medium change of the
properties by observing the
invariant-mass spectrum. The simulations are performed by means of a BUU transport model including a full coupled-channel treatment of the final-state interactions. In-medium changes of the
spectral density are found to yield a moderate modification of the observables as compared to the situa tion in free space. Also the effects of a momentum dependence of the strong

We discuss the time-dependent CP asymmetry of the decay
in an extension of the standard model with both a two Higgs doublet and additional fourth-generation quarks. We show that, although the standard model with a two Higgs doublet and the standard model with fourth-generation quarks alone are not likely to largely change the effective
from the decay
, the model with both an additional Higgs doublet and fourth-generation quarks can easily account for the possible large negative value of
without conflicting with other experimental constraints. In this model, additional large CP violating effects may arise from the flavor-changing Yukawa interactions between neutral Higgs bosons and the heavy fourth-generation down type quark, which can modify the QCD penguin contributions. With the constraints obtained from
processes such as
and
, this model can lead to an effective
as large as - 0.4 in the CP asymmetry of

We demonstrate the different effect of strange impurities (
and
) on the static properties of nuclei within the framework of the relativistic mean-field model. Systematic calculations show that the glue-like role of the
-hyperon is universal for all
-hypernuclei considered. However, the
-hyperon has a glue-like role only for the protons distribution in nuclei, while for the neutrons distribution it plays a repulsive role. On the other hand, the
-hyperon attracts the surrounding neutrons and reveals a repulsive force to the protons. Possible explanations of the above observation are discussed.Received: 10 March 2003, Revised: 6 November 2003, Published online: 5 May 2004PACS:

Making the assumption of explicit isospin violation arising from f

Using the Quark-Gluon Strings Model (QGSM) combined with Regge phenomenology we consider the reactions
and
which are dominated by the contributions of the K
* and D
* Regge trajectories, respectively. The spin structure of the amplitudes is described by introducing Reggeized Born terms. It is found that the existing data for the reaction
are in reasonable agreement with the model predictions. To describe the absolute values of the cross-sections it is necessary to introduce also suppression factors which can be related to absorption corrections. Furthermore, assuming the SU(4) symmetry to hold for Regge residues and the universality of absorption corrections we calculate the cross-section of the reaction
. Employing the latter results from
reactions we then estimate the contributions of the pion exchange mechanism to the cross-sections of the reactions
and
and compare them with the contributions of the K and D exchanges. We find that the NN reactions are dominated not by pion exchange but by K and D exchanges, respectively. Moreover, assuming the SU(4) symmetry to hold approximately for the coupling constants
=
we analyze also the production of leading
-hyperons in the reaction
. It is shown that the non-perturbative mechanism should give an essential contribution to the

Structural properties of two RbCdCl3 samples grown either from the melt or from aqueous solution are studied via X-ray diffraction over a closed temperature cycle between 20
C and 300
C. During cooling step (300
C), the crystal grown from the melt undergoes a phase transition at 110
C that drives it from the cubic structure into a tetragonal structure that still persists at 20
C. It undergoes exactly the reverse phase transition at the same temperature during the heating (
C) step that immediately follows. The other crystal grows from aqueous solution at 20
C in an orthorhombic structure (i.e. not tetragonal as that of the crystal grown from the melt and cooled down to this temperature). During the heating (
C) step, it undergoes a direct orthorhombic-cubic phase transition at 240
C (without passing through the tetragonal phase) whereas, during subsequent cooling (300
C), it does not exhibit the corresponding reverse phase transition but rather exhibits exactly the same cubic-tetragonal phase transition at 110
C as the crystal grown from the melt. However, for both crystals, this tetragonal phase observed at room temperature is unstable and slowly converts into an orthorhombic phase over the course of time. Complementary Differential Scanning Calorimetry (D.S.C.) and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (T.G.A.) measurements have been carried out over the range (
