A novel organic monolith was successfully fabricated by a one‐pot thiol‐ene click reaction of triallyl isocyanurate with pentaerythritol tetrakis‐(2‐mercaptoacetate) and mercaptopropionic acid in the presence of porogens. We investigated the effects of the ratio of monomer and cross‐linking agent, the type and ratio of porogen, and click reaction temperature on the permeability and morphology of the prepared poly triallyl isocyanurate‐co‐pentaerythritol tetrakis (2‐mercaptoacetate) monoliths. The monolith was also characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results indicated that the monoliths had continuous porous framework, good permeability, and high mechanical stability. A series of analytes with different properties such as alkylbenzenes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, anilines, and phenols were used to evaluate the electrochromatographic performance of the prepared monoliths in pressurized capillary electrochromatography. The prepared polymer monolith showed typical reversed‐phase electrochromatographic behavior for hydrophobic substances. Moreover, the prepared monolith showed a mix of reversed‐phase and cation exchange interaction modes for basic aniline compounds. The minimum plate height of the monolith was 8.76 μm (132 100 plates/m) for propylbenzene. These results demonstrated that one‐pot thiol‐ene click chemistry can provide a simple and reliable method for the preparation of organic monoliths.  相似文献

A novel mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monolithic column was prepared for capillary liquid chromatography, in which the thiol‐end mercaptotetrazole was mixed with hydrolyzed γ‐methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and tetramethyloxysilane for the co‐polycondensation and thiol‐ene click reaction in a one‐pot process. The effects of the molar ratio of silanes, the amount of mercaptotetrazole, and the volume of porogen on the morphology, permeability and pore properties of the as‐prepared mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monoliths were investigated in detail. A series of test compounds including alkylbenzenes, amides and anilines were employed for evaluating the retention behaviors of the mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monolithic columns. The results demonstrated that the mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monoliths exhibited hydrophobic, hydrophilic as well as ion‐exchange interaction. The run‐to‐run, column‐to‐column and batch‐to‐batch reproducibilities of the mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monoliths were satisfactory with the relative standard deviations less than 1.4 (= 5), 3.9 (= 3) and 4.0% (= 5), respectively. In addition, the mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monolith was further applied to the separation of sulfonamides, nucleobases and protein tryptic digests. These successful applications confirmed the promising potential of the mercaptotetrazole‐silica hybrid monolith in the separation of complex samples.  相似文献

As a tribute to Professor Charlie Hoyle, we take the opportunity to review the impact of thiol‐ene chemistry on polymer and materials science over the past 5 years. During this time, a renaissance in thiol‐ene chemistry has occurred with recent progress demonstrating its unique advantages when compared with traditional coupling and functionalization strategies. Additionally, the robust nature of thiol‐ene chemistry allows for the preparation of well‐defined materials with few structural limitations and synthetic requirements. To illustrate these features, the utility of thiol‐ene reactions for network formation, polymer functionalization, dendrimer synthesis, and the decoration of three‐dimensional objects is discussed. Also, the development of the closely related thiol‐yne chemistry is described. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 743–750, 2010  相似文献

ABC type miktoarm star copolymer with polystyrene (PS), poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) arms was synthesized using controlled polymerization techniques in combination with thiol‐ene and copper catalyzed azide‐alyne “click” reactions (CuAAC) and characterized. For this purpose, 1‐(allyloxy)‐3‐azidopropan‐2‐ol was synthesized as the core component in a one‐step reaction with high yields (96%). Independently, ω‐thiol functionalized polystyrene (PS‐SH) was synthesized in a two‐step protocol with a very narrow molecular weight distribution. The bromo end function of PS obtained by atom transfer radical polymerization was first converted to xanthate function and then reacted with 1, 2‐ethandithiol to yield desired thiol functional polymer (PS‐SH). The obtained polymer was grafted onto the core by thiol‐ene click chemistry. In the following stage, ε‐caprolactone monomer was polymerized from the core by ring opening polymerization (ROP) using tin octoate as catalyst through hydroxyl groups to form the second arm. Finally, PEG‐acetylene, which was simply synthesized by the esterification of Me‐PEG and 5‐pentynoic acid, was clicked onto the core through azide groups present in the structure. The intermediates at various stages and the final miktoarm star copolymer were characterized by 1H NMR, FTIR, and GPC measurements. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Aliphatic polycarbonate (PC) copolymer is synthesized by ring opening copolymerization of acrylate‐ and allyl‐functional cyclic carbonate monomers. The post‐polymerization functionalization of the resulting copolymer is performed quantitatively using a variety of thiol compounds via sequential Michael addition and photo‐induced radical thiol‐ene click reactions within relatively short reaction time at ambient temperature. This metal‐free click chemistry methodology affords the synthesis of biocompatible PC copolymer with multifunctional groups. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Antibacterial hydrogels containing quaternary ammonium (QA) groups were prepared via a facile thiol‐ene “click” reaction using multifunctional poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). The multifunctional PEG polymers were prepared by an epoxy‐amine ring opening reaction. The chemical and physical properties of the hydrogels could be tuned with different crosslinking structures and crosslinking densities. The antibacterial hydrogel structures prepared from PEG Pendant QA were less well‐defined than those from PEG Chain‐End QA. Furthermore, functionalization of the PEG‐type hydrogels with QA groups produced strong antibacterial abilities against Staphylococcus aureus, and therefore has the potential to be used as an anti‐infective material for biomedical devices. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new platform technology for the preparation of stable chiral stationary phases was successfully optimized. The chiral selector tert‐butylcarbamoylquinine was firstly covalently connected to the polymer poly(3‐mercaptopropyl)methylsiloxane by thiol‐ene click reaction. Secondly, the quinine carbamate functionalized polysiloxane conjugate was coated onto the surface of vinyl modified silica particles and cross‐linked via thiol‐ene click reaction. The amount of polysiloxane, chiral selector, radical initiator, reaction solvent (chloroform and methanol), reaction time, and pore size of the supporting silica particles were varied and systematically optimized in terms of achievable plate numbers while maintaining simultaneously enantioselectivity. The optimization was based on elemental analysis data, chromatographic results, and H/u‐curves (Van Deemter) of the resultant chiral stationary phases. The results suggest that better chromatographic efficiency (higher plate numbers) at equal enantioselectivity can be achieved with methanol (a poor solvent for the polysiloxane that is dispersed rather than dissolved) and a lower film thickness of quinine carbamate functionalized polysiloxane. In this study, chiral stationary phases based on 100 Å silica slightly outperformed 200 Å silica particles (each 5 μm). The optimized two step material exhibited significantly reduced mass transfer resistance compared to the one step material and equal performance as a brush‐type chiral stationary phase.  相似文献

In this work, the thiol‐ene click reaction is employed to fabricate polymer‐dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films by photoinitiated polymerization. The PDLC films are prepared by systematic variation of key conditions: variety and content of ‐ene monomer, liquid crystal (LC) content, curing time, and curing light intensity. We find that both the morphologies and electro‐optic properties of these films are adjustable. When increasing the length of alkyl main chain of ‐ene monomers, the driving voltages reduce, but in turn, the contrast ratio decreases. Increasing ‐ene monomer content raises the driving voltages as well as the response time, and the increase of LC content lowers the driving voltages but has a negative effect on the contrast ratio. The changes to the curing conditions (both curing time and UV light intensity) can be used to modify the driving voltages, response time, and contrast ratios of PDLC films. These comparative studies will elucidate new insights in commercial applications of intelligent PDLC films.  相似文献

We demonstrated the successful postfunctionalization of poly(oxanorbornene imide) (PONB) with two types of double bonds using sequential orthogonal reactions, nucleophilic thiol‐ene coupling via Michael addition and radical thiol‐ene click reactions. First, the synthesis of PONB with side chain acrylate groups is carried out via ring‐opening metathesis polymerization and nitroxide radical coupling reaction, respectively. Subsequently, the resulting polymer having two different orthogonal functionalities, main chain vinyl and side chain acrylate, is selectively modified via two sequential thiol‐ene click reactions, nucleophilic thiol‐ene coupling via Michael addition and photoinduced radical thiol‐ene. The orthogonal reactivity of two diverse double bonds, vinyl and acrylate functionalities, for the abovementioned consecutive thiol‐ene click reactions was first demonstrated on the model compound. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fabrication and functionalization of hydrogels from well‐defined dendron‐polymer‐dendron conjugates is accomplished using sequential radical thiol‐ene “click” reactions. The dendron‐polymer conjugates were synthesized using an azide‐alkyne “click” reaction of alkene‐containing polyester dendrons bearing an alkyne group at their focal point with linear poly(ethylene glycol)‐bisazides. Thiol‐ene “click” reaction was used for crosslinking these alkene functionalized dendron‐polymer conjugates using a tetrathiol‐based crosslinker to provide clear and transparent hydrogels. Hydrogels with residual alkene groups at crosslinking sites were obtained by tuning the alkene‐thiol stoichiometry. The residual alkene groups allow efficient postfunctionalization of these hydrogel matrices with thiol‐containing molecules via a subsequent radical thiol‐ene reaction. The photochemical nature of radical thiol‐ene reaction was exploited to fabricate micropatterned hydrogels. Tunability of functionalization of these hydrogels, by varying dendron generation and polymer chain length was demonstrated by conjugation of a thiol‐containing fluorescent dye. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A facile, efficient approach for preparation of functionalized aromatic polysulfones by postpolymerization modification with thiol‐ene click chemistry is described. The key synthetic strategy is to incorporate a pendant vinyl ether group into polysulfones as a reactive precursor with controlled degrees of functionalization. Synthetic utility of the pendant alkenyl group is demonstrated by generating diverse polymer derivatives using thiol‐ene functionalization including glycosylated polysulfone. The highly reactive alkene platform in the polymer affords convenient, metal‐free, and azide‐free click transformations to create diverse ranges of new functionalized polysulfones that could be applied in various applications. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Main chain polymeric benzophenone photoinitiator (PBP) was synthesized by using “Thiol‐ene Click Chemistry” and characterized with 1H NMR, FTIR, UV, and phosphorescence spectroscopies. PBP as a polymeric photoinitiator presented excellent absorption properties (ε294 = 28,300 mol?1L?1cm?1) compared to the molecular initiator BP (ε252 = 16,600 mol?1L?1cm?1). The triplet energy of PBP was obtained from the phosphorescence measurement in 2‐methyl tetrahydrofurane at 77 K as 298.3 kJ/mol and according to phosphorescence lifetime, the lowest triplet state of PBP has an n‐π* nature. Triplet–triplet absorption spectrum of PBP at 550 nm following laser excitation (355 nm) were recorded and triplet lifetime of PBP was found as 250 ns. The photoinitiation efficiency of PBP was determined for the polymerization of Hexanedioldiacrylate (HDDA) with PBP and BP in the presence of a coinitiator namely, N‐methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) by Photo‐DSC. The initiation efficiency of PBP for polymerization of HDDA is much higher than for the formulation consisting of BP. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

A new class of polybenzoxazine precursors of combined molecular structure of benzoxazine in the open and ring form has been developed. Thermally curable benzoxazine networks were obtained by simultaneous photoinduced thiol‐ene and Catalytic Opening of the Lateral Benzoxazine Rings by Thiols (COLBERT). The thiol‐ene reactions were initiated by photolysis of a free radical photoinitiator, 2, 2‐dimethoxy‐2‐phenyl acetophenone (DMPA), and the competing COLBERT reaction was triggered by thiol compound, 1,2‐ethanedithiol, present in the reaction mixture. The extent of reactions was evaluated by conducting experiments both under UV irradiation and in dark using model benzoxazines. The precursor soft films (pre‐P(B‐ala‐DTE)) were prepared by irradiating solutions of diallyl functional benzoxazine (B‐ala), 1,2‐ethanedithiol and DMPA. The obtained pre‐P(B‐ala‐DTE) films were then cured through thermally activated ring opening reaction of remaining benzoxazine groups yielding a more rigid and tough film. Thermal and mechanical properties of the films were investigated by DSC, DMA and TGA and compared with a typical polybenzoxazine, P(B‐ala). © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An efficient one‐pot process to functionalize the α‐ and ω‐positions of RAFT‐derived poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) by two inherently different mechanistic pathways is reported. The method relies on the RAFT polymerization of NIPAM using a new alkyne‐based RAFT agent, namely 2‐cyano‐5‐oxo‐5‐(prop‐2‐yn‐1‐ylamino)pentan‐2‐yl dodecyltrithiocarbonate (COPYDC) and the combination of thiol‐yne click chemistry and thiocarbonylthio chain‐end removal reactions. COPYDC was prepared in good yield and used as an efficient chain transfer agent during the RAFT polymerization of NIPAM. Well‐defined polymers with controlled molar masses ( = 7500–14,700 g.mol?1) and narrow dispersities (? = 1.18–1.26) are thus obtained. Cascade thiol‐yne click reaction at the alkyne α‐chain end and trithiocarbonate removal at the ω‐chain end are successfully achieved using benzyl mercaptan and excess AIBN. The reported method provides a facile and mild route to heterofunctional telechelic RAFT polymers with predictable molar masses and low dispersities. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. A novel (3‐sulfopropyl methacrylate potassium)‐silica hybrid monolithic column for CEC has been prepared by a simple one‐pot approach based on efficient thiol‐ene click chemistry. In this process, the polycondensation of hydrolyzed alkoxysilanes and in situ click reaction of vinyl groups on 3‐sulfopropyl methacrylate potassium and thiol groups on the precondensed siloxanes simultaneously occurred in a pretreated capillary. Homogeneous monolithic matrix with large through‐pores tightly bonded to the inner wall of the capillary was shown by optical microscope and SEM. The minimum plate height of this hybrid monolithic column was determined as 3.9 μm for thiourea. Anilines, alkylbenzenes, and phenols were well separated on this hybrid monolithic column by CEC, which indicated typical reversed‐phase and cation‐exchange chromatographic retention mechanisms of the column.  相似文献

Using core‐first strategy, the amphiphilic A4B4 star‐shaped copolymers [poly(ethylene oxide)]4[poly(ε‐caprolactone)]4 [(PEO)4(PCL)4], [poly(ethylene oxide)]4[poly(styrene)]4 [(PEO)4(PS)4], and [poly(ethylene oxide)]4[poly(tert‐butyl acrylate)]4 [(PEO)4(PtBA)4] were synthesized by mechanisms transformation combining with thiol‐ene reaction. First, using a designed multifunctional mikto‐initiator with four active hydroxyl groups and four allyl groups, the four‐armed star‐shaped polymers (PEO‐Ph)4/(OH)4 with four active hydroxyl groups at core position were obtained by sequential ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of ethylene oxide monomers, capping reaction of living oxyanion with benzyl chloride, and transformation of allyl groups into hydroxyl groups by thiol‐ene reaction. Then, the A4B4 star‐shaped copolymers (PEO)4(PS)4 or (PEO)4(PtBA)4 were obtained by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene or tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA) monomers from macroinitiator of (PEO‐Ph)4/(Br)4, which was obtained by esterification of (PEO‐Ph)4/(OH)4 with 2‐bromoisobutyryl bromide. The A4B4 star‐shaped copolymers (PEO)4(PCL)4 were also obtained by ROP of ε‐caprolactopne monomers from macroinitiator of (PEO‐Ph)4/(OH)4. The target copolymers and intermediates were characterized by size‐exclusion chromatography, matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance in detail. This synthetic route might be a versatile one to various AnBn (n ≥ 3) star‐shaped copolymers with defined structure and compositions. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym.
