We propose a protocol for bidirectional controlled quantum communication by using a seven-qubit entangled state. In our protocol, Alice can teleport an arbitrary unknown two-qubit state to Bob, at the same time Bob can help Alice remotely prepares an arbitrary known single-qubit state. It is shown that, with the help of the controller Charlie, the total success probability of our protocol can reach 100%.

We propose a new protocol of implementing four-party controlled joint remote state preparation and meanwhile realizing controlled quantum teleportation via a seven-qubit entangled state. That is to say, Alice wants to teleport an arbitrary single-qubit state to Bob and Bob wants to remotely prepare a known state for Alice via the control of supervisors Fred and David. Compared with previous studies for the schemes of solely bidirectional quantum teleportation and remote state preparation, the new protocol is a kind of hybrid approach of information communication which makes the quantum channel multipurpose.

We put forward a new protocol of deterministic controlled bidirectional quantum information transmission, using a five-qubit Brown state. That is to say Alice wants to teleport an arbitrary single-qubit state to Bob and Bob wants to remotely prepare a known state for Alice via the control of the supervisor Charlie. In terms of physical implementations, only a CNOT gate, one Bell-state measurement and one qubit measurement are used in our protocol. Compared with previous study for solely bidirectional quantum teleportation and solely bidirectional remote state preparation schemes, our protocol is a kind of hybrid approach of information communication which makes the quantum channel multipurpose, i.e., no matter whether the transmitted state is known or unknown, the state information can be transmitted with each other via a five-qubit Brown state under the control of the third party as a supervisor.

Based on the delocalized entanglement correlation of GHZ state in quantum information theory, a three-party stop-wait quantum communication protocol for data link layer is presented. When three sites, Alice, Bob and Charlie, communicate in data link layer, data frame is sent to Bob and Charlie by Alice. When receiving the data frame within the set time, the receivers, Bob and Charlie, return to quantum acknowledgment frames or quantum negative acknowledgement frames via quantum channel. In the proposed protocol, the sender Alice can simultaneously receive and deal with quantum acknowledgment (QACK) frames or quantum negative acknowledgement (QNACK) frames from Bob and Charlie. And due to the transience of transferring quantum information, propagation delay and processing delay among three sites are reduced. As a result, the minimum time span between two successfully delivered data frames can be significantly reduced, the communication time is shortened. It is shown that the proposed protocol enhances the maximum throughout effectively and improves the communication efficiency for data link layer in a multicast communication network.

In this paper, a quantum authencryption protocol is proposed by using the two-photon entangled states as the quantum resource. Two communicants Alice and Bob share two private keys in advance, which determine the generation of two-photon entangled states. The sender Alice sends the two-photon entangled state sequence encoded with her classical bits to the receiver Bob in the manner of one-step quantum transmission. Upon receiving the encoded quantum state sequence, Bob decodes out Alice’s classical bits with the two-photon joint measurements and authenticates the integrity of Alice’s secret with the help of one-way hash function. The proposed protocol only uses the one-step quantum transmission and needs neither a public discussion nor a trusted third party. As a result, the proposed protocol can be adapted to the case where the receiver is off-line, such as the quantum E-mail systems. Moreover, the proposed protocol provides the message authentication to one bit level with the help of one-way hash function and has an information-theoretical efficiency equal to 100 %.

We suggest a method for transferring an unknown quantum state. In this method the sender Alice first applies a controlled-not operation on the particle in the unknown quantum state and an ancillary particle which she wants to send to the receiver Bob. Then she sends the ancillary particle to Bob. When Alice is informed by Bob that the ancillary particle is received, she performs a local measurement on her particle and sends Bob the outcome of the local measurement via a classical channel. Depending on the outcome Bob can restore the unknown quantum state, which Alice destroyed, on the ancillary particle successfully. As an application of this method we propose a quantum secure direct communication protocol. By introducing the decoy qubits the security of the scheme is guaranteed.

We propose two schemes for realizing quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) by using a set of ordered two-photon three-dimensional hyperentangled states entangled in two degrees of freedom (DOFs) as quantum information channels. In the first scheme, the photons from Bob to Alice are transmitted only once. After insuring the security of the quantum channels, Bob encodes the secret message on his photons. Then Alice performs single-photon two-DOF Bell bases measurements on her photons. This scheme has better security than former QSDC protocols. In the second scheme, Bob transmits photons to Alice twice. After insuring the security of the quantum channels, Bob encodes the secret message on his photons. Then Alice performs two-photon Bell bases measurements on each DOF. The scheme has more information capacity than former QSDC protocols.

Two protocols of quantum direct communication with authentication [Phys. Rev. A 73:042305, 2006] were recently proposed by Lee, Lim and Yang, based on the correlation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states. However, Zhang et al. showed that in the two protocols the authenticator Trent can eavesdrop the secret message by subtle strategies [Phys. Rev. A 75:026301, 2007]. In this paper, we propose two authenticated quantum direct communication (AQDC) protocols using Bell states. Users can identify each other by checking the correlation of Bell states. Alice can directly send a secret message to Bob without any previously shared secret using the remaining Bell states after authentication. The two proposed AQDC protocols are implemented under the condition that there is a quantum link between Alice and Bob and that there is no quantum link between Alice and Bob respectively, similar to the ones proposed by Lee, Lim and Yang [Phys. Rev. A 73:042305, 2006]. The proposed AQDC protocols not only fix the leaks in the AQDC protocols proposed by Lee, Lim and Yang, but also economize the quantum resource.

We propose a novel protocol for quantum secure direct communication with cluster states. In this protocol, the two legitimate users, Alice and Bob, can directly transmit the secret messages by using the Bell-basis measurement and Z-basis measurement, respectively, in classical communication. Since our quantum secure direct communication protocol is based on the cluster state, it is easily processed by a one-way quantum computer.

In this paper, an improved controlled bidirectional quantum teleportation protocol of the special three-qubit state is proposed. In a little bit more detail, under the control of the third supervisor Charlie, Alice wants to send one special three-qubit entangled state to Bob, and at the meantime, Bob also wants to transmit another special three-qubit entangled state to Alice. In other words, both Alice and Bob can be the sender and receiver simultaneously. To achieve this aim, a specific eleven-qubit entangled state is shared among Alice, Bob and Charlie in advance acting as the quantum channel. Then, Alice and Bob first implement the GHZ-state measurement and Bell-state measurement respectively, and following Charlie’s single-qubit measurement. Finally, upon the foregoing measurement results, Alice and Bob can respectively implement the specific unitary operators on their local particles to recover the initial state transmitted by the other.

An efficient two-step quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol with orthogonal product states in the n\otimes n(n\geq3)Hilbert space is presented. In this protocol, the particles in the orthogonal product states form two particle sequences. The sender, Alice, first sends one sequence to the receiver, Bob. After Bob receives the first particle sequence, Alice and Bob check eavesdropping by measuring a fraction of particles randomly chosen. After ensuring the security of the quantum channel, Alice sends the other particle sequence to Bob. By making an orthogonal measurement on the two particle sequences, Bob can obtain the information of the orthogonal product states sent by Alice. This protocol has many distinct features such as great capacity, high efficiency in that it uses all orthogonal product states in distributing the key except those chosen for checking eavesdroppers.

We propose a new protocol of asymmetric bidirectional controlled teleportation by using a seven-qubit cluster state as the quantum channel. That is to say Alice wants to transmit an arbitrary single-qubit state to Bob and Bob wants to transmit an arbitrary two qubit state to Alice via the control of the supervisor Charlie. One only need perform the Bell-state measurements and single-qubit measurement.

It is striking that the quantum Zeno effect can be used to launch a direct counterfactual communication between two spatially separated parties, Alice and Bob. So far, existing protocols of this type only provide a deterministic counterfactual communication service. However, this counterfactuality should be payed at a price. Firstly, the transmission time is much longer than a classical transmission costs. Secondly, the chained-cycle structure makes them more sensitive to channel noises. Here, we extend the idea of counterfactual communication, and present a probabilistic-counterfactual quantum communication protocol, which is proved to have advantages over the deterministic ones. Moreover, the presented protocol could evolve to a deterministic one solely by adjusting the parameters of the beam splitters.

A new quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) protocol is proposed by using decoherence free subspace (DFS) to avoid insecurity of the present QSDC protocols in a quantum noise channel. This protocol makes it easily for Bob and Alice to find eavesdropping in channel because the collective dephasing noise disappears in DFS. The probability of successful attack by Eve in this protocol is smaller than in BB84 protocol. Thus this protocol realizes secure QSDC and is feasible with present-day technology.

In this paper, we present a scheme for quantum dialogue by using a four-qubit cluster state as quantum channel. The scheme has two cases: Case 1, Sender Alice and receiver Bob share information using an orderly sequence of entangled state as quantum channel which was prepared by Alice. This case is achieved as follows: The two sides agreed to encode quantum state information, then Alice perform a bell state measurement for quantum information which has been encoded. This will convey the information to Bob, then Bob measuring his own qubits, through the analysis of the measurement results of Alice and Bob, Bob can obtain quantum information. For case 2, four-qubit cluster state and quantum state information is transmitted to form a total quantum system. In the Case 2 scenario, Alice and Bob perform bell state measurements for part of the qubits, and tell the measurement result to each other through the classical channel. Finally, according to the measurement result, Alice and Bob operate an appropriate unitary transformation, as a result, Alice’s qubit will be renewed upon Bob’s measurements, and also, Bob’s qubit will be renewed upon Alice’s measurements. Thus, a bidirectional quantum dialogue is achieved. After analysis, this scheme has high security by taking certain eavesdropping attacks into account. There is therefore a certain reference value to the realization of quantum dialogue.

We present two schemes for hybrid bidirectional controlled quantum communication (HBCQC) via six- and nine-qubit entangled states as the quantum channel, respectively. In these schemes, two distant parties, Alice and Bob are not only senders but also receivers, and Alice wants to teleport an unknown single-qubit state to Bob, at the same time, Bob wishes to help Alice remotely prepares an arbitrary single- and two- qubit state, respectively. It is shown that, only if the two senders and the controller collaborate with each other, the HBCQC can be completed successfully. We demonstrate, in our both schemes, the total success probability of the HBCQC can reach 1, that is, the schemes are deterministic.

We propose a three-party quantum secure direct communication(QSDC) protocol with hyperentanglement in both spatial-mode and polarization degrees of freedom. The secret message can be encoded independently with desired unitary operations in two degrees of freedom. In this protocol, a party can synchronously obtain the other two parties' messages. Compared with previous three-party QSDC protocols, our protocol has several advantages. First, the single photons in our protocol are only required to transmit for three times. This advantage makes this protocol simple and useful. Second, Alice and Bob can send different secret messages to Charlie, respectively. Finally, with hyperentanglement, this protocol has a higher information capacity than other protocols.
