A bis(ether amine) containing the ortho‐substituted phenylene unit and pendant tert‐butyl group, 1,2‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)‐4‐tert‐butylbenzene, was synthesized and used as a monomer to prepare polyimides with six commercial dianhydrides via a conventional two‐stage procedure. The intermediate poly(amic acid)s had inherent viscosities of 0.78–1.44 dL/g, and most of them could be thermally converted into transparent, flexible, and tough polyimide films. The inherent viscosities of the resulting polyimides were in the range of 0.46–0.87 dL/g. All polyimides were noncrystalline, and most of them showed excellent solubility in polar organic solvents. The glass‐transition temperatures of these polyimides were in the range of 222–259 °C in differential scanning calorimetry and 212–282 °C in thermomechanicl analysis. These polyimides showed no appreciable decomposition up to 500 °C in thermogravimetric analysis in air or nitrogen. A comparative study of the properties with the corresponding polyimides without pendant tert‐butyl groups derived from 1,2‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)benzene is also presented. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Two highly soluble aromatic polyimides were synthesized successfully from a diamine with two tert-butyl groups (MBTBA)and dianhydrides with a thioether or sulfone moiety(DTDA and DSDA).Both of them showed excellent solubility in common solvents such as chloroform, tetrahydrofuran and dioxane at the room temperature. The number-average molecular weight was 6.0×104 and 8.3×104 according to gel permeation chromatography relative to a polystyrene standard, and the polydispersity index was 1.80 and 1.82 respectively. The glass-transition temperatures of them were 286℃and 314℃(or 315℃and 358℃)respectively,as measured by differential scanning calorimetry(or dynamic mechanical analysis). The 5%weight loss temperature of both was near 490℃in N2 by thermogravimetric analysis. These results indicated that the tert-butyl pendent groups reduced the interactions among polymer chains and the thioether or sulfone moiety was flexible which may improve their solubility in conventional organic solvents without the loss of thermal stability. Transparent and flexible films of the two polyimides were obtained via solution casting. The MBTBA-DTDA membrane had higher storage moduli than those of the MBTBA-DSDA membrane.  相似文献

A series of new polyimides (PIs) containing di‐tert‐butyl side groups were synthesized via a polycondensation of 1‐(4‐aminophenoxy)‐4‐(4‐amino‐2‐methylphenyl)‐2,6‐di‐tert‐butylbenzene ( 3 ) with various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides. The novel unsymmetric PIs exhibited a low dielectric constants (2.78–3.02), low moisture absorption (0.53–1.35%), excellent solubility, and high glass transition temperature (308–450 °C). The PI derived from the new diamine and the very rigid naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride (NTDA) was soluble in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, chloroform, m‐cresol, and cyclohexanone. The unsymmetric di‐tert‐butyl pendent groups significantly enhance the rotational barrier of the polymer chains; thus these PIs had high Tgs. The 1H NMR spectrum of the diamine 3 revealed that the protons of 4‐aminophenoxy moiety are not chemical shift equivalent. This is because the steric hindrance of the bulky di‐tert‐butyl groups prevents the benzene ring of 4‐aminophenoxy moiety from rotating freely. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel diamine monomer 1 , 4,4'‐(9H‐fluorene‐9,9‐diyl)‐bis(2‐tert‐butylaniline), was synthesized from 9‐fluorenone and 2‐tert‐butylaniline by the condensation reaction. Then it was polymerized with several commercial aromatic dianhydrides, respectively, to produce polyimides (PIs) by the one‐pot method. The number‐averaged molecular weights of the resulting PIs are in the range of (4.54–8.82) × 104 with polydispersity indices from 2.51 to 4.33 by gel permeation chromatography measurement. They are soluble in many organic solvents and can form transparent and tough films by solution‐casting. The cut‐off wavelengths of UV–vis absorption for the PI films are below 360 nm, which are much lower than that of Kapton film. The light transparency of them is above 90% in the visible light range from 400 to 760 nm. They also display relatively low dielectric constants (from 2.79 to 3.00), low water absorption rates (<1%), and high tensile strength (> 50 MPa). Their excellent solubility and transparency can be attributed to the incorporation of tert‐butyl groups and fluorene units into the rigid backbones of PIs. Simultaneously, they still maintain the high thermal stability (the 5% weight loss temperature in the range from 526 to 539 °C in nitrogen) and the high glass transition temperatures (Tg > 340 °C). © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of rigid‐rod polyamides and polyimides containing p‐terphenyl or p‐quinquephenyl moieties in backbone as well as naphthyl pendent groups were synthesized from two new aromatic diamines. The polymers were characterized by inherent viscosity, elemental analysis, FT‐IR, 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, X‐ray, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), isothermal gravimetric analysis, and moisture absorption. All polymers were amorphous and displayed Tg values at 304–337°C. Polyamides dissolved upon heating in polar aprotic solvents containing LiCl as well as CCl3COOH, whereas polyimides were partially soluble in these solvents. No weight loss was observed up to 377–422°C in N2 and 355–397°C in air. The anaerobic char yields were 57–69% at 800°C. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A new carbazole‐derived, triphenylamine (TPA)‐containing aromatic dicarboxylic acid monomer, 4,4′‐dicarboxy‐4″‐(3,6‐di‐tert‐butylcarbazol‐9‐yl)TPA, was synthesized, and it led to a series of electroactive aromatic polyamides with main‐chain TPA and pendent 3,6‐bis(tert‐butyl)carbazole units by reacting it with various aromatic diamines via the phosphorylation polyamidation technique. The polyamides were amorphous with good solubility in many organic solvents and could be solution‐cast into flexible and strong films. They showed high glass‐transition temperatures (282–335 °C) and high thermal stability (10% weight loss temperatures >480 °C). The electroactive polymer films had well‐defined and reversible redox couples with good cycle stability in acetonitrile solutions. The polymer films also exhibited fluorescent and multielectrochromic behaviors. The anodically electrochromic polyamide films had moderate coloration efficiency (~100 cm2/C) and high optical contrast ratio of transmittance change (Δ%T) up to 47% at 813 nm and 48% at 414 nm for the green coloring. After hundreds of cyclic switches, the polymer films still retained good redox and electrochromic activity. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

A new triphenylamine‐containing diamine monomer, 4,4′‐diamino‐4″‐tert‐butyltriphenylamine, was successfully synthesized by the cesium fluoride‐mediated N,N‐diarylation of 4‐tert‐butylaniline with 4‐fluoronitrobenzene, followed by the reduction of the nitro group. The obtained diamine monomer was reacted with various aromatic dicarboxylic acids and tetracarboxylic dianhydrides to produce two series of novel triphenylamine‐based polyamides and polyimides with pendent tert‐butyl substituents. Most of the polymers were readily soluble in polar organic solvents, such as N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone and N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and could be solution cast into tough and flexible polymer films. These polymers showed high glass transition temperatures between 282 and 320 °C, and they were fairly stable up to a temperature above 450 °C (for polyamides) or 500 °C (for polyimides). These polymers exhibited UV absorption maxima around 308 to 361 nm. The photoluminescence spectra of the polyamides in DMAc exhibited a peak emission wavelength in the blue at 421–433 nm. Cyclic voltammograms of polyamides and polyimides showed an oxidation wave at 1.0–1.1 V versus Ag/AgCl in an acetonitrile solution. All the polyamides and polyimides exhibited excellent reversibility of electrochromic characteristics by continuous several cyclic scans between 0.0 and 1.1–1.3 V, with a color change from the original pale yellowish neutral form to the green or blue oxidized forms. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel aromatic polyimides containing symmetric, bulky di-tert-butyl substituents unit were synthesized from 1,4-bis(4-aminophenoxy)2,5-di-tert-butylbenzene (BADTB) and various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides by the conventional two-stage procedure that included ring-opening polyaddition in a polar solvent such as N,N-dimethylacetamide to give poly(amic acid)s, followed by cyclodehydration to polyimides. The diamine was prepared through the nucleophilic displacement of 2,5-di-tert-butylhydroquinone with p-chloronitrobenzene in the presence of K2CO3, followed by catalytic reduction. Depending on the dianhydrides used, the poly(amic acid)s obtained had inherent viscosities of 0.83–1.88 dL g−1. Most of the polyimides formed transparent, flexible, and tough films. Tensile strength and elongation at break of the BADTB-based polyimide films ranged from 68–93 MPa and 7–11%, respectively. The polyimide derived from 4,4′-hexafluoro-isopropylidenebisphathalic anhydride had better solubility than the other polyimides. These polyimides had glass transition temperatures between 242–298°C and 10% mass loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 481–520°C in nitrogen. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A diamine monomer II , 2,5‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)biphenyl, was prepared through a nucleophilic substitution reaction of phenylhydroquinone and p‐chloronitrobenzene in the presence of potassium carbonate in N,N‐dimethylformamide, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C. A series of all‐aromatic, organosoluble polyimides bearing pendent phenyl groups were synthesized from the diamine with six kinds of commercial dianhydrides via a conventional two‐stage process. For improving solubility of polypyromellitimide, copolypyromellitimides with arbitrary solubilities were prepared from II and a pair of dianhydrides, which were mixed at certain molar ratios. These polymers showed good solubilities in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone and m‐cresol. The softening temperatures of these polyimides were recorded between 206 and 269 °C. Polymers had glass‐transition temperatures at 230–286 °C and 10% weight‐loss temperatures above 521 °C in air or nitrogen atmospheres. Their films had high tensile moduli and strengths. Excellent properties of these polyimides are attributed to the incorporation of the pendent phenyl group in diamine II . © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel tert‐butyl‐containing dianhydride was prepared from readily available reagents. It was reacted with various aromatic diamines to prepare a set of polyimides containing tert‐butyl pendent groups. The resulting polyimides exhibit high molecular weights (high inherent viscosity), and a combination of desirable properties, such as good solubility in aprotic amide solvents and cresols, high glass transition temperatures (up to 320 °C), high thermal resistance, film‐forming capability and good mechanical properties.

A new dicarboxylic acid monomer, 1,1‐bis[4‐(4‐carboxyphenoxy)phenyl]‐4‐tert‐butylcyclohexane, bearing a pendent tert‐butylcyclohexylidene group was prepared in three steps from 4‐tert‐butylcyclohexanone. The monomer was reacted with various diamines to produce a series of new polyamides with triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. These polyamides were produced with inherent viscosities of 0.74 to 1.02 dL g−1. All the polymers were characterized by X‐ray diffraction that revealed this amorphous nature. These polymers exhibited excellent solubility in a variety of solvents. Almost all the polymers could be dissolved in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone, N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), N,N‐dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, pyridine, and even in tetrahydrofuran and cyclohexanone. These polymers showed glass‐transition temperatures between 223 and 256 °C and decomposition temperatures at 10% weight loss ranging from 468 to 491 °C and 469 to 498 °C in nitrogen and air atmospheres, respectively. Transparent, tough, and flexible films of these polymers were cast from the DMAc solutions. These polymer films had tensile strengths ranging from 76 to 99 MPa, elongations at break from 7 to 19%, and initial moduli from 2.1 to 2.7 GPa. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. New aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydride, having isopropylidene and bromo‐substituted arylene ether structure 3,3′,5,5′‐tetrabromo‐2,2‐bis[4‐(3,4‐dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]propane dianhydride, was synthesized by the reaction of 4‐nitrophthalonitrile with 3,3′,5,5′‐tetrabromobisphenol A, followed by alkaline hydrolysis of the intermediate bis(ether dinitrile) and subsequent dehydration of the resulting bis(ether diacid). The novel aromatic polyetherimides having inherent viscosities up to 1.04 dL g−1 were obtained by either a one‐step or a conventional two‐step polymerization process starting from the bis(ether anhydride) and various aromatic diamines. All the polyimides showed typical amorphous diffraction patterns. Most of the polyimides were readily soluble in common organic solvents such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP), pyridine, and even in less polar solvents like chloroform and tetrahydrofuran (THF). These aromatic polyimides had glass transition temperatures in the range of 256–303°C, depending on the nature of the diamine moiety. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that all polymers were stable, with 10% weight loss recorded above 470°C in nitrogen. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel, fluorinated diamine monomer, 2,5‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐ trifluoromethylphenoxy)‐tert‐butylbenzene ( II ) was synthesized through the nucleophilic substitution reaction of tert‐butylhydroquinone (t‐BHQ) and 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride in the presence of potassium carbonate to yield the intermediate dinitro compound I , followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C to afford diamine II . A series of fluorinated polyimides V were prepared from II with various aromatic dianhydrides ( III a–f ) via the thermal imidization of poly(amic acid). Most of V a–f could be soluble in amide‐type solvents and even in less polar solvents. These polyimide films showed tensile strengths up to 106 MPa, elongation at break up to 21%, and initial modulus up to 2.1 GPa. The glass‐transition temperature of V was recorded at 245–304 °C, the 10% weight loss temperatures were above 488 °C, and left more than 41% residue even at 800 °C in nitrogen. Low dielectric constants, low moisture absorptions, and higher and light‐colored transmittances were also observed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New fluorinated aromatic polyimides were prepared from 1,4‐(4′‐aminophenoxy)‐2‐(3′‐trifluoromethylphenyl)benzene and aromatic dianhydrides via the polycondensation of one‐step high‐temperature and two‐step thermal or chemical imidization methods. Experimental results indicated that some of the polyimides were soluble both in strong dipolar solvents (N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone or N,N‐dimethylacetamide) and in common organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, CHCl3, and acetone. The polyimides showed exceptional thermal and thermooxidative stability and good mechanical properties. No weight loss was detected before a temperature of 520 °C in nitrogen, and the glass‐transition temperatures ranged from 208 to 251 °C. Low dielectric constants (2.55–2.71 at 1 MHz), low refractive indices, and low water absorption were also observed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 2,2,′3,3′‐Biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (2,2,′3,3′‐BPDA) was prepared by a coupling reaction of dimethyl 3‐iodophthalate. The X‐ray single‐crystal structure determination showed that this dianhydride had a bent and noncopolanar structure, presenting a striking contrast to its isomer, 3,3,′4,4′‐BPDA. This dianhydride was reacted with aromatic diamines in a polar aprotic solvent such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc) to form polyamic acid intermediates, which imidized chemically to polyimides with inherent viscosities of 0.34–0.55 dL/g, depending on the diamine used. The polyimides from 2,2,′3,3′‐BPDA exhibited a good solubility and were dissolved in polar aprotic solvents and polychlorocarbons. These polyimides have high glass transition temperatures above 283°C. Thermogravimetric analyses indicated that these polyimides were fairly stable up to 500°C, and the 5% weight loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 534–583°C in nitrogen atmosphere and 537–561°C in air atmosphere. All polyimides were amorphous according to X‐ray determination. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 37: 1425–1433, 1999  相似文献

A new aromatic, unsymmetrical ether diamine with a trifluoromethyl pendent group, 1,4‐(2′‐trifluoromethyl‐4′,4″‐diaminodiphenoxy)benzene, was successfully synthesized in three steps with hydroquinone as a starting material and polymerized with various aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides, including 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride, 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride, 2,2′‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenyl)‐hexafluoropropane dianhydride, and pyromellitic dianhydride, via a conventional two‐step thermal or chemical imidization method to produce a series of fluorinated polyimides. The polyimides were characterized with solubility tests, viscosity measurements, IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction studies, and thermogravimetric analysis. The polyimides had inherent viscosities of 0.56–0.77 dL/g and were easily dissolved in both polar, aprotic solvents and common, low‐boiling‐point solvents. The resulting strong and flexible polyimide films exhibited excellent thermal stability, with decomposition temperatures (at 5% weight loss) above 522 °C and glass‐transition temperatures in the range of 232–272 °C. Moreover, the polymer films showed outstanding mechanical properties, with tensile strengths of 74.5–121.7 MPa, elongations at break of 6–13%, and initial moduli of 1.46–1.95 GPa, and good dielectric properties, with low dielectric constants of 1.82–2.53 at 10 MHz. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction measurements revealed that these polyimides were predominantly amorphous. These outstanding combined features ensure that the polymers are desirable candidate materials for advanced microelectronic applications. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel fluorinated diamine monomer, 1,4‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)‐2,5‐di‐tert‐butylbenzene ( 2 ), was prepared through the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride and 2,5‐di‐tert‐butylhydroquinone in the presence of potassium carbonate, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C. Fluorinated polyimides ( 5a – 5f ) were synthesized from diamine 2 and various aromatic dianhydrides ( 3a – 3f ) via thermal or chemical imidization. These polymers had inherent viscosities of 0.77–1.01 dL/g. The 5 series polyimides were soluble in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and N,N‐dimethylformamide and were even soluble in dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, and dichloromethane. 5 (C) showed cutoff wavelengths between 363 and 404 nm and yellowness index (b*) values of 6.5–40.2. The polyimide films had tensile strengths of 93–114 MPa, elongations to break of 9–12%, and initial moduli of 1.7–2.1 GPa. The glass‐transition temperatures were 255–288 °C. The temperatures of 10% weight loss were all above 460 °C in air or nitrogen atmospheres. In comparison with a nonfluorinated polyimide series based on 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)‐2,5‐di‐tert‐butylbenzene, the 5 series showed better solubility and lower color intensity, dielectric constants, and moisture absorption. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To prepare novel polyimides with enhanced thermal stability and high solubility in common organic solvents, diamine monomers, 4‐aryl‐2,6 bis‐(4‐amino phenyl)pyridine, were introduced. The diamines were reacted with three different conventional aromatic dianhydrides including pyromellitic dianhydride, benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride, and hexafluoroisopropylidene‐2,2‐bis(phthalic‐dianhydride) (6FDA) in dimethylacetamide solvent to obtain the corresponding polyimides via the polyamic acid precursors and chemical imidization. The monomers and polymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR, mass spectroscopy, and elemental analysis; and the best condition of polymerization and imidization were obtained via the study of model compound. The polyimides showed little or no weight loss by thermogravimetric analysis up to 500 °C, and those derived from 6FDA exhibited good solubility in various polar solvents. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel, trifluoromethyl‐substituted, bis(ether amine) monomer, 1,4‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)naphthalene, was synthesized through the nucleophilic displacement of 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride with 1,4‐dihydroxynaphthalene in the presence of potassium carbonate in dimethyl sulfoxide, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C in ethanol. A series of new fluorine‐containing polyimides with inherent viscosities of 0.57–0.91 dL/g were prepared by reacting the diamine with six commercially available aromatic dianhydrides via a conventional, two‐step thermal or chemical imidization method. Most of the resulting polyimides were soluble in strong polar solvents such as N‐methylpyrrolidone and N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc). All the polyimides afforded transparent, flexible, and strong films with good tensile properties. These polyimides exhibited glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) (by DSC) and softening temperatures (by thermomechanical analysis) in the ranges of 252–315 and 254–301 °C, respectively. Decomposition temperatures for 5% weight loss all occurred above 500 °C in both air and nitrogen atmospheres. The dielectric constants of these polyimides ranged from 3.03 to 3.71 at 1 MHz. In addition, a series of new, fluorinated polyamides with inherent viscosities of 0.32–0.62 dL/g were prepared by the direct polycondensation reaction the diamine with various aromatic dicarboxylic acids by means of triphenyl phosphite and pyridine. All the polyamides were soluble in polar solvents such as DMAc and could be solution‐cast into tough and flexible films. These polyamides had Tg's between 228 and 256 °C and 10% weight‐loss temperatures above 400 °C in nitrogen or air. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel polyimides based on N,N‐di(4‐aminophenyl)‐1‐aminopyrene and aromatic or alicyclic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides were synthesized. The polymers exhibited good solubility in many polar organic solvents and could afford robust films via solution casting. The polyimides derived from aromatic dianhydrides exhibited high thermal stability and high glass‐transition temperatures (333–364 °C). Cyclic voltammetry studies of the polymer films showed that these polyimides are both p and n dopable and have multicolored electrochromic states. For the polyimides derived from alicyclic dianhydrides, they revealed a strong blue‐light emission with high fluorescence quantum yields (?PL > 45%) and a marked solvatochromic behavior. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
