Abstract

The complexations of a new ligand, o-(2-thiazolylazo)-4-ethylphenol(TAEP) with Ca(II), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hq(II) and Pb(II) have been studied by potentiometric titrations, at 25.0 ± 0.2°C and an ionic strength of 0.1 in 30% v/v dioxane-water mixture. The dissociation constant and spectral data of TAEP and formation constants of the complexes containing various molar ratios of metal ion to ligand, are reported. It is observed that Ca(II) forms only an ML complex in any molar ratios, whereas other metal ions react in two steps forming ML and ML2 complexes in a 1:3 molar ratio. In the case of 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios, Mn(II), Co(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) seemed to form bi- or poly-nuclear complexes because of slightly different formation curves from those of 1:3 molar ratio. The sequence of the first successive formation constant is Cu > Hg > Ni > Pb > Co > Zn > Cd > Mn > Ca, showing Mellor-Maley's order. Further correlation is shown between the formation constants and the second ionization potentials of the metals.  相似文献

The persistence of widely used chelating agents EDTA and DTPA in nature has been of concern and there is a need for ligands to replace them. In a search for environmentally friendly metal chelating ligands for industrial applications, complex formation equilibria of N-bis[2-(1,2-dicarboxyethoxy)ethyl]aspartic acid (BCA6) with Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) in aqueous 0.1 M NaNO3 solution were studied at 25°C by potentiometric titration. Complexation was modeled and the stability constants of the different complexes were determined for each metal ion using the computer program SUPERQUAD. With all metal ions, stable ML4? complexes dominated the complex formation. The stabilities of Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) chelates of BCA6 are remarkably lower than those of EDTA and DTPA. Environmental advantages of the use of BCA6 instead of EDTA and DTPA are better biodegradability and lower nitrogen content with a possibility to save chemicals and process steps in pulp bleaching.  相似文献

Abstract

The protonation constants of pentaethylenehexaamineoctaacetic acid, PHOA, were determined by potentiometric titration in aqueous solution at an ionic strength of 0.10 M KNO3 and at 25°C. The formation constants of various metal-PHOA complexes were also obtained by titrating mixtures of metal to ligand in molar ratios of 1:1 and 2:1. Calculations were performed with the computer program BEST. Individual formation constants are reported for Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) with PHOA as well as their related protonated species. The stabilities of the 1:1 and 2:1 complexes are similar in many respects to complexes formed with tetraethylenepentaamineheptaacetic acid (TPHA). The similarities in the stabilities of both the 1:1 and 2:1 complexes with PHOA and those with TPHA are explained in terms of ligand denticity and steric effects. Mercury(II)-PHOA complexes exhibited the highest formation constants, followed by copper(II)-PHOA complexes which had higher log K ML's than those for Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II).  相似文献

Cystine forms metal complexes of general formula [MII(C6H10N2O4S2)]; where MII = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), and Pb(II) in the aqueous medium. Before reacting with metal salts the ligand solution was neutralized by NaHCO3 solution. The complexes were formulated by comparing the C, H, N, S and metal analysis data. The prepared complexes were characterized by different physicochemical methods. The UV-vis, FTIR spectral analysis, magnetic susceptibility of these complexes are discussed. Cyclic voltammetric studies of some of the complexes are also reported.  相似文献

1,6-Bis(2-formylphenyl) hexane (I) was derived from 1,6-dibromohexane with salicylaldehyde and K2CO3 and the ligand (L) was derived from compound I and 2,6-diaminopyridine. Then, the Cu(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and La(III) complexes with L were synthesized by the reaction of this ligand and Cu(NO3)2 · 3H2O, Ni(NO3)2 · 6H2O, Pb(NO3)2, Zn(NO3)2 · 6H2O, Cd(NO3)2 · 6H2O, and La(NO3)3 · 6H2O, respectively. The ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H and 13C NMR, UV-Vis spectra, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity measurements, and mass spectra. All complexes are diamagnetic and the Cu(II) complex is binuclear. The article is published in the original.  相似文献

Abstract

The protonation constants of tetraethylenepentaamineheptaacetic acid, TPHA, were determined by potentiometric titration in aqueous solution at an ionic strength of 0.10 M KNO3 and at 25°C. The formation constants of various metal-TPHA complexes were also obtained by titrating mixtures of metal to ligand in molar ratios of 1 :1 and 2:1. Calculations were performed with the computer program BEST. Individual stability constants are reported for Co(II). Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) with TPHA as well as their related pro-tonated species. The stabilities of the 1:1 complexes parallel to those of similar complexes with DTPA and TTHA. However the 2: 1 complexes have significantly larger log K ML's than their TTHA counterparts. The extra stability of the 2:1 metal-TPHA complexes is explained in terms of ligand denticity and steric effects. Mercury(II)-TPHA complexes exhibited the highest formation constants and the copper-TPHA complexes had slightly higher log K ML's than those for Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II).  相似文献

The amino acid sequence MxCxxC is conserved in many soft-metal transporters that are involved in the control of the intracellular concentration of ions such as Cu(I), Hg(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Pb(II). A relevant task is thus the selectivity of the motif MxCxxC for these different metal ions. To analyze the coordination properties and the selectivity of this consensus sequence, we have designed two model peptides that mimic the binding loop of the copper chaperone Atx1: the cyclic peptide P(C) c(GMTCSGCSRP) and its linear analogue P(L) (Ac-MTCSGCSRPG-NH2). By using complementary analytical and spectroscopic methods, we have demonstrated that 1:1 complexes are obtained with Cu(I) and Hg(II), whereas 1:1 and 1:2 (M:P) species are successively formed with Zn(II), Cd(II), and Pb(II). The complexation properties of the cyclic and linear peptides are very close, but the cyclic compound provides systematically higher affinity constants than its unstructured analogue. The introduction of a xPGx motif that forms a type II beta turn in P(C) induces a preorganization of the binding loop of the peptide that enhances the stabilities of the complexes (up to 2 orders of magnitude difference for the Hg complexes). The affinity constants were measured in the absence of any reducing agent that would compete with the peptides and range in the order Hg(II) > Cu(I) > Cd(II) > Pb(II) > Zn(II). This sequence is thus highly selective for Cu(I) compared to the essential ion Zn(II) that could compete in vivo or compared to the toxic ions Cd(II) and Pb(II). Only Hg(II) may be an efficient competitor of Cu(I) for binding to the MxCxxC motif in metalloproteins.  相似文献

Zn (II), Cd (II), Hg (II) and U (VI)O22+ complexes of water‐soluble thiosemicarbazone ligand (NaH3PyTSC) have been prepared and characterized using various techniques. Fourier transform‐infrared (FT‐IR) demonstrated that NaH3PyTSC ligand behaves as a binegative NOS tridentate in [Hg(H2PyTSC)(H2O)]2 and [UO2(H2PyTSC)(H2O)]2 complexes via the deprotonated SH, (C=N)az groups from one molecule and SO3? group from another molecule, while it behaves as a binegative NNSO tetradentate in [Cd(H2PyTSC)(H2O)2]2 complex through the deprotonated SH group, the SO3? group and the nitrogen of both the (C=N)az and (C=N)py. Finally, it behaves as a binegative OO bidentate in [Zn(H2PyTSC)(H2O)2]2·2H2O complex by the deprotonated OH group from one molecule and SO3? group from another ligand molecule. The spectral data suggest a tetrahedral coordination around Hg (II) and Zn (II) ions, and an octahedral coordination around Cd (II) and U (VI)O22+ ions. The NaH3PyTSC ligand exhibited maximum luminescent intensity at 501 nm, while Zn (II), Cd (II) and Hg (II) chelates show emission bands at 459, 458 and 358 nm, respectively. Two comparable methods were used to estimate various thermodynamic parameters. Cyclic voltammetry has been studied for Cd (II) complex in solution. Different biological applications of the isolated complexes have been estimated. It was found that [Cd(H2PyTSC)(H2O)2]2 showed the most effective antioxidant and anticancer activity.  相似文献

Some metal complexes of DL–methionine were prepared in aqueous medium and characterized by different physico-chemical methods. Methionine forms 1:2 complexes with metal, M(II). The general empirical formula of the complexes is proposed as [(C5H10NO2S)2MII]; where MII = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). All the complexes are extremely stable in light and air and optically inactive. Magnetic susceptibility data of the complexes demonstrate that they are high spin paramagnetic complex except Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes. The bonding pattern in the complexes are similar to each other as indicated by electronic absorption spectra and FTIR spectral analysis. The current potential data, peak separation (AE) and the peak current ratio (ipa/ipc) of the (Mn, Cu and Cd) complexes indicate that the charge transfer processes are irreversible, the systems are diffusion controlled and also adsorptive controlled. The charge transfer rate constant of metals in their complexes are less than those in their metal salts at identical experimental conditions due to the coordination of metal with methionine.  相似文献

The mononuclear complexes of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II), [Zn(phen-dione)Cl2], [Cd(phen-dione)Cl2] and [Hg(phen-dione)Cl2], where phen-dione?=?1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR, 1H?NMR and electronic absorption spectroscopies. The ν(C=O) of coordinated phen-dione ligands in these complexes shows that the phen-dione is not coordinated to metal ion from its C=O sites. Electronic spectra of the complexes show two absorption bands for intraligand transitions. These absorption bands show dependence on the dielectric constant of solvents. These complexes exhibit an intense fluorescence band around 545?nm in DMSO when the excitation wavelengths are 200?nm at room temperature.  相似文献

Conditions for the preparation of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) 4-methylphthalates were investigated and their composition, solubility in water at 295 K and magnetic moments were determined. IR spectra and powder diffraction patterns of the complexes prepared with molar ratio of metal to organic ligand of 1.0:1.0 and general formula: M [ CH3C6H3(CO2)2nH2o (n=1-3) were recorded and their decomposition in air were studied. During heating the hydrated complexes are dehydrated in one (Mn, Co, Ni, Zn, Cd) or two steps (Cu) and next the anhydrous complexes decompose to oxides directly (Cu, Zn), with intermediate formation of carbonates (Mn, Cd), oxocarbonates (Ni) or carbonate and free metal (Co). The carboxylate groups in the complexes studied are mono- and bidentate (Co, Ni), bidentate chelating and bridging (Zn) or bidentate chelating (Mn, Cu, Cd). The magnetic moments for paramagnetic complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) attain values 5.92, 5.05, 3.36 and 1.96 M.B., respectively. Two new mixed aza-thia crowns 5-aza-2,8-dithia[9]-(2,9)-1,10-phenanthrolinophane (L(4)) and 2,8-diaza-5-thia[9]-(2,9)-1,10-phenanthrolinophane (L(7)) have been synthesized and characterized. The coordination behavior of L(4) and L(7) toward the metal ions Cu(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), and Ag(I) was studied in aqueous solution by potentiometric methods, in CD3CN/D2O 4:1 (v/v) by (1)H NMR titrations and in the solid state. The data obtained were compared with those available for the coordination behavior toward the same metal ions of structurally analogous mixed donor macrocyclic ligands L(1)-L(3), L(5), L(6): all these contain a phenanthroline subunit but have only S/O/N(aromatic) donor groups in the remaining portion of the ring and are, therefore, less water-soluble than L(4) and L(7). The complexes [Cd(NO3)2(L(5))], [Pb(L(7))](ClO4)2 x 1/2MeCN, [Pb(L(4))](ClO4)2 x MeCN, and [Cu(L(7))](ClO4)2 x 3/2MeNO2 were characterized by X-ray crystallography. The efficacy of L(1)-L(7) in competitive liquid-liquid metal ion extraction of Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), Ag(I), and Hg(II) was assessed. In the absence of Hg(II), a clear extraction selectivity for Ag(I) was observed in all systems investigated.  相似文献

The reactions of complex formation of Cu(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), and Cd(II) acetates with 3,3′,4,4′5,5′-hexamethyl-2,2′-dipyrrolylmethene (HL) in DMF were studied by the electronic spectroscopy and calorimetric titration methods at 298.15 K. The main products of the above reactions are [ML2] chelates. In the case of Cu and Ni salts, the process occurs through the spectrally recorded stage of formation of the heteroligand [ML(AcO)] complexes. The reaction with Cd acetate terminates at the stage of the heteroligand complex formation due to the large radius and decreasing electron affinity of the Cd2+ ion. The effect of the metal nature appears in the increasing thermodynamic stability of single-type complexes in the series [ML2]: Ni(II) < Zn(II) < Co(II) < Cu(II) and [ML(AcO)]: Cd(II) < Ni(II) < Cu(II).  相似文献

New solid complexes of a herbicide known as dicamba (3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid) with Pb(II), Cd(II), Cu(II) and Hg(II) of the general formula M(dicamba)2·xH2O (M=metal, x=0-2) and Zn2(OH)(dicamba)3·2H2O have been prepared and studied. The complexes have different crystal structures. The carboxylate groups in the lead, cadmium and copper complexes are bidentate, chelating, symmetrical, in Hg(dicamba)2·2H2O - unidentate, and in the zinc salt - bidentate, bridging, symmetrical. The anhydrous compounds decompose in three stages, except for the lead salt whose decomposition proceeds in four stages. The main gaseous decomposition products are CO2, CH3OH, HCl and H2O. Trace amounts of compounds containing an aromatic ring were also detected. The final solid decomposition products are oxychlorides of metals and CuO. Reaction of the ligand 2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole (DPBTZ) with Hg(SCN)2, Tl(NO3)3, CuCl, and PdCl2 gives complexes with stoichiometry [Hg(DPBTZ)(SCN)2], [Tl(DPBTZ)(NO3)3], [Cu(DPBTZ)(H2O)Cl], and [Pd(DPBTZ)Cl2]. The new complexes were characterized by elemental analyses and infrared spectroscopy. The crystal structure of [Hg(DPBTZ)(SCN)2] determined by X-ray crystallography. The Hg atom in the title monomeric complex, (2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole)mercury(II)bisthiocyanate, [Hg(C18H12N2S2)(SCN)2], is four-coordinate having an irregular tetrahedral geometry composed of two S atoms of thiocyanate ions [Hg-S 2.4025(15) and 2.4073(15) Å] and two N atoms of 2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole ligand [Hg-N 2.411(4) and 2.459(4) Å]. The bond angle S(3)-Hg(1)-S(4) of 147.46(5)° has the greatest derivation from ideal tetrahedral geometry. Intermolecular interaction between Hg(1) and two S atoms of two neighboring molecules, 3.9318(15) and 3.9640(18) Å, make the Hg(1) distort from a tetrahedron to a disordered octahedron. The attempts for preparation complexes of Tl(I), Pb(II), Bi(III), Cd(II) ions with 2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole ligand were not successful and also the attempts for preparation complexes of 4,4′,5,5′-tetraphenyl-2,2′-bithizole ligand with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Co(III), Mn(II), Mn(III), Fe(II), Fe(III), Cr(III), Zn(II), Tl(III), Pb(II), Hg(II), Cu(I), Pd(II) were not successful. This point can be regarded as the initial electron withdrawing of phenyl rings and also their spatial steric effects.  相似文献

The competition between tetra-, penta-, and hexacoordination with the MN2O2, MN2O2X, and MN2O2X2 (X = S, Se) coordination nodes, respectively, during the formation of bisligand Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) complexes with bi- and tridentate heterocyclic azomethines has been studied by means of quantumchemical DFT simulation of the complex formation and further stereoisomerization. It has been found that pentacoordination was favorable for the Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes, whereas the Zn(II) complexes are tetracoordinate.  相似文献

Summary Clean and rapid analytical separation of microgram quantities of Ge(IV), Sn(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) from their mixed solution has been made possible by ascending thin-layer chromatography using the solvent systems: (a)Isobutyl alcohol: Conc. HCl: Et-Me ketone and (b) Isobutyl alcohol: CH3COOH. For the evaluation of different metal ions, the resulting delineated spots as viewed in U.V. light were scooped out with the help of micro-vacuum cleaner and the collected material transferred to the paper set on the ring oven. Separate rings were obtained for individual metal ions and the computation of results having been made by ring colorimetry, using PTC and other chromogenic reagents.

The present work describes the preparation and characterization of some metal ion complexes derived from 4-formylpyridine-4 N-(2-pyridyl)thiosemicarbazone (HFPTS). The complexes have the formula; [Cd(HFPTS)2H2O]Cl2, [CoCl2(HPTS)]·H2O, [Cu2Cl4(HPTS)]·H2O, [Fe (HPTS)2Cl2]Cl·3H2O, [Hg(HPTS)Cl2]·4H2O, [Mn(HPTS)Cl2]·5H2O, [Ni(HPTS)Cl2]·2H2O, [UO2(FPTS)2(H2O)]·3H2O. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, spectral (IR, 1H-NMR and UV–Vis), thermal and magnetic moment measurements. The neutral bidentate coordination mode is major for the most investigated complexes. A mononegative bidentate for UO2(II), and neutral tridentate for Cu(II). The tetrahedral arrangement is proposed for most investigated complexes. The biological investigation displays the toxic activity of Hg(II) and UO2(II) complexes, whereas the ligand displays the lowest inhibition activity toward the most investigated microorganisms.  相似文献

Composition of coordination compounds formed by copper(II) or zinc(II) ions and pyridine-2-, -3-, and -4-carbohydrazones of pyridoxal-5-phosphate in aqueous solution at 298.2 K, рН 7.4, I 0.25 has been studied by means of spectrophotometry. Conditional constants of the complexes stability have been determined. Cu(II) ions formed more stable ML2 coordination compounds in comparison with Zn(II), zinc(II) ions are efficiently bound to the derivative of picolinic acid hydrazide to form the ML complex.  相似文献
