The gas-phase radical-radical reaction dynamics of ground-state atomic oxygen [O((3)P)] with iso-propyl radicals, (CH(3))(2)CH, were investigated by applying a combination of high-resolution laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy in a crossed-beam configuration and ab initio calculations. The nascent distributions of OH (X(2)Π: υ' = 0) from the major reaction channel O((3)P) + (CH(3))(2)CH → C(3)H(6) (propene) + OH showed substantial internal excitations with a bimodal feature of low- and high-N' components with neither spin-orbit nor Λ-doublet propensities. Unlike previous kinetic results, proposed to proceed only through the direct H-atom abstraction process, on the basis of the population analysis and comparison with the statistical theory, the title reaction can be described in terms of two competing mechanisms at the molecular level: direct abstraction process and indirect short-lived addition-complex-forming process with a ratio of 1.25?:?1.  相似文献

Reaction dynamics for a microsolvated SN2 reaction OH-(H2O)+CH3Cl have been investigated by means of the direct ab initio molecular dynamics method. The relative center-of-mass collision energies were chosen as 10, 15, and 25 kcal/mol. Three reaction channels were found as products. These are (1) a channel leading to complete dissociation (the products are CH3OH+Cl- +H2O: denoted by channel I), (2) a solvation channel (the products are Cl-(H2O)+CH3OH: channel II), and (3) a complex formation channel (the products are CH3OH...H2O+Cl-: channel III). The branching ratios for the three channels were drastically changed as a function of center-of-mass collision energy. The ratio of complete dissociation channel (channel I) increased with increasing collision energy, whereas that of channel III decreased. The solvation channel (channel II) was minor at all collision energies. The selectivity of the reaction channels and the mechanism are discussed on the basis of the theoretical results.  相似文献

The O((3)P)+HD and O((3)P)+D(2) reactions are studied using quantum scattering calculations and chemically accurate potential energy surfaces developed for the O((3)P)+H(2) system by Rogers et al. [J. Phys. Chem. A 104, 2308 (2000)]. Cross sections and rate coefficients for OH and OD products are calculated using accurate quantum methods as well as the J-shifting approximation. The J-shifting approach is found to work remarkably well for both O+HD and O+D(2) collisions. The reactions are dominated by tunneling at low temperatures and for the O+HD reaction the hydrogen atom transfer leading to the OH product dominates at low temperatures. Our result for the OH/OD branching ratio is in close agreement with previous calculations over a wide range of temperatures. The computed OH/OD branching ratios are also in close agreement with experimental results of Robie et al. [Chem. Phys. Lett. 134, 579 (1987)] at temperatures above 400 K but the theoretical results do not reproduce the rapid rise in the experimental values of the branching ratio for temperatures lower than 350 K. We believe that new measurements could resolve the long-standing discrepancy between experiment and theory for this benchmark reaction.  相似文献

The kinetics and the mechanism of the reaction CH(3)C(O)O(2)+ HO(2) were reinvestigated at room temperature using two complementary approaches: one experimental, using flash photolysis/UV absorption technique and one theoretical, with quantum chemistry calculations performed using the density functional theory (DFT) method with the three-parameter hybrid functional B3LYP associated with the 6-31G(d,p) basis set. According to a recent paper reported by Hasson et al., [J. Phys. Chem., 2004, 108, 5979-5989] this reaction may proceed by three different channels: CH(3)C(O)O(2)+ HO(2)--> CH(3)C(O)OOH + O(2) (1a); CH(3)C(O)O(2)+ HO(2)--> CH(3)C(O)OH + O(3) (1b); CH(3)C(O)O(2)+ HO(2)--> CH(3)C(O)O + OH + O(2) (1c). In experiments, CH(3)C(O)O(2) and HO(2) radicals were generated using Cl-initiated oxidation of acetaldehyde and methanol, respectively, in the presence of oxygen. The addition of amounts of benzene in the system, forming hydroxycyclohexadienyl radicals in the presence of OH, allowed us to answer that channel (1c) is <10%. The rate constant k(1) of reaction (1) has been finally measured at (1.50 +/- 0.08) x 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) at 298 K, after having considered the combination of all the possible values for the branching ratios k(1a)/k(1,)k(1b)/k(1,)k(1c)/k(1) and has been compared to previous measurements. The branching ratio k(1b)/k(1), determined by measuring ozone in situ, was found to be equal to (20 +/- 1)%, a value consistent with the previous values reported in the literature. DFT calculations show that channel (1c) is also of minor importance: it was deduced unambiguously that the formation of CH(3)C(O)OOH + O(2) (X (3)Sigma(-)(g)) is the dominant product channel, followed by the second channel (1b) leading to CH(3)C(O)OH and singlet O(3) and, much less importantly, channel (1c) which corresponds to OH formation. These conclusions give a reliable explanation of the experimental observations of this work. In conclusion, the present study demonstrates that the CH(3)C(O)O(2)+ HO(2) is still predominantly a radical chain termination reaction in the tropospheric ozone chain formation processes.  相似文献

We conducted the title reaction using a crossed molecular-beam apparatus, quantum-chemical calculations, and RRKM calculations. Synchrotron radiation from an undulator served to ionize selectively reaction products by advantage of negligibly small dissociative ionization. We observed two products with gross formula C(2)H(3)N and C(2)H(2)N associated with loss of one and two hydrogen atoms, respectively. Measurements of kinetic-energy distributions, angular distributions, low-resolution photoionization spectra, and branching ratios of the two products were carried out. Furthermore, we evaluated total branching ratios of various exit channels using RRKM calculations based on the potential-energy surface of reaction N((2)D)+C(2)H(4) established with the method CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)+ZPE[B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)]. The combination of experimental and computational results allows us to reveal the reaction dynamics. The N((2)D) atom adds to the C=C π-bond of ethene (C(2)H(4)) to form a cyclic complex c-CH(2)(N)CH(2) that directly ejects a hydrogen atom or rearranges to other intermediates followed by elimination of a hydrogen atom to produce C(2)H(3)N; c-CH(2)(N)CH+H is the dominant product channel. Subsequently, most C(2)H(3)N radicals, notably c-CH(2)(N)CH, further decompose to CH(2)CN+H. This work provides results and explanations different from the previous work of Balucani et al. [J. Phys. Chem. A, 2000, 104, 5655], indicating that selective photoionization with synchrotron radiation as an ionization source is a good choice in chemical dynamics research.  相似文献

The reaction of O((3)P) with isobutene ((CH(3))(2)C=CH(2)) is investigated using the unrestricted second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation (UMP2) and complete basis set CBS-4M level methods. The minimum energy crossing point (MECP) between the singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces is located using the Newton-Lagrange method, and it is shown that the MECP plays a key role. The calculational results indicate that the site selectivity of the addition of O((3)P) to either carbon atom of the double bond of isobutene is weak, and the major product channels are CH(2)C(O)CH(3) + CH(3,) cis-/trans-CH(3)CHCHO + CH(3), (CH(3))(2)CCO + H(2), and CH(3)C(CH(2))(2) + OH, among which (CH(3))(2)CCO + H(2) is predicted to be the energetically most favorable one. The complex multichannel reaction mechanisms are revealed, and the observations in several recent experiments could be rationalized on the basis of the present calculations. The formation mechanisms of butenols are also discussed.  相似文献

The radical-radical reaction mechanisms and dynamics of ground-state atomic oxygen [O(3P)] with the saturated tert-butyl radical (t-C4H9) are investigated using the density functional method and the complete basis set model. Two distinctive reaction pathways are predicted to be in competition: addition and abstraction. The barrierless addition of O(3P) to t-C4H9 leads to the formation of an energy-rich intermediate (OC4H9) on the lowest doublet potential energy surface, which undergoes subsequent direct elimination or isomerization-elimination leading to various products: C3H6O + CH3, iso-C4H8O + H, C3H7O + CH2, and iso-C4H8 + OH. The respective microscopic reaction processes examined with the aid of statistical calculations, predict that the major addition pathway is the formation of acetone (C3H6O) + CH3 through a low-barrier, single-step cleavage. For the direct, barrierless H-atom abstraction mechanism producing iso-C4H8 (isobutene) + OH, which was recently reported in gas-phase crossed-beam investigations, the reaction is described in terms of both an abstraction process (major) and a short-lived addition dynamic complex (minor).  相似文献

The radical-radical oxidation reaction, O(3P)+C3H3 (propargyl)-->H(2S)+C3H2O (propynal), was investigated using vacuum-ultraviolet laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy in a crossed-beam configuration, together with ab initio and statistical calculations. The barrierless addition of O(3P) to C3H3 is calculated to form energy-rich addition complexes on the lowest doublet potential energy surface, which subsequently undergo direct decomposition steps leading to the major reaction products, H+C3H(2)O (propynal). According to the nascent H-atom Doppler-profile analysis, the average translational energy of the products and the fraction of the average transitional energy to the total available energy were determined to be 5.09+/-0.36 kcal/mol and 0.077, respectively. On the basis of a comparison with statistical prior calculations, the reaction mechanism and the significant internal excitation of the polyatomic propynal product can be rationalized in terms of the formation of highly activated, short-lived addition-complex intermediates and the adiabaticity of the excess available energy along the reaction coordinate.  相似文献

The reaction of O((3)P) with propene (C(3)H(6)) has been examined using tunable vacuum ultraviolet radiation and time-resolved multiplexed photoionization mass spectrometry at 4 Torr and 298 K. The temporal and isomeric resolution of these experiments allow the separation of primary from secondary reaction products and determination of branching ratios of 1.00, 0.91 ± 0.30, and 0.05 ± 0.04 for the primary product channels CH(3) + CH(2)CHO, C(2)H(5) + HCO, and H(2) + CH(3)CHCO, respectively. The H + CH(3)CHCHO product channel was not observable for technical reasons in these experiments, so literature values for the branching fraction of this channel were used to convert the measured product branching ratios to branching fractions. The results of the present study, in combination with past experimental and theoretical studies of O((3)P) + C(3)H(6), identify important pathways leading to products on the C(3)H(6)O potential energy surface (PES). The present results suggest that up to 40% of the total product yield may require intersystem crossing from the initial triplet C(3)H(6)O PES to the lower-lying singlet PES.  相似文献

The radical-radical reaction dynamics of ground-state atomic oxygen [O(3P)] with t-butyl radicals (t-C4H9) in the gas phase were investigated using high-resolution laser spectroscopy in a crossed-beam configuration, together with ab initio theoretical calculations. The radical reactants, O(3P) and t-C4H9, were produced by the photodissociation of NO2 and the supersonic flash pyrolysis of the precursor, azo-t-butane, respectively. A new exothermic channel, O(3P)+t-C4H9 --> OH+iso-C4H8, was identified and the nascent rovibrational distributions of the OH (X 2Pi: upsilon" = 0,1,2) products were examined. The population analyses for the two spin-orbit states of F1(2Pi32) and F2(2Pi12) showed that the upsilon" = 0 level is described by a bimodal feature composed of low- and high-N" rotational components, whereas the upsilon" = 1 and 2 levels exhibit unimodal distributions. No noticeable spin-orbit or Lambda-doublet propensities were observed in any vibrational state. The partitioning ratio of the vibrational populations (Pupsilon") with respect to the low-N" components of the upsilon" = 0 level was estimated to be P0:P1:P2 = 1:1.17+/-0.24:1.40+/-0.11, indicating that the nascent internal distributions are highly excited. On the basis of the comparison of the experimental results with the statistical theory, the reaction mechanism at the molecular level can be described in terms of two competing dynamic pathways: the major, direct abstraction process leading to the inversion of the vibrational populations, and the minor, short-lived addition-complex process responsible for the hot rotational distributions. After considering the reaction exothermicity, the barrier height, and the number of intermediates along the addition reaction pathways on the lowest doublet potential energy surface, the formation of CH3COCH3(acetone)+CH3 was predicted to be dominant in the addition mechanism.  相似文献

The reaction for CH3CH2+O(3P) was studied by ab initio method. The geometries of the reactants, intermediates, transition states and products were optimized at MP2/6-311+G(d,p) level. The corresponding vibration frequencies were calculated at the same level. The single-point calculations for all the stationary points were carried out at the QCISD(T)/6-311+G(d,p) level using the MP2/6-311+G(d,p) optimized geometries. The results of the theoretical study indicate that the major products are the CH2O+CH3, CH3CHO+H and CH2CH2+OH in the reaction. For the products CH2O+CH3 and CH3CHO+H, the major production channels are A1: (R)→IM1→TS3→(A) and B1: (R)→IM1→TS4→(B), respectively. The majority of the products CH2CH2+OH are formed via the direct abstraction channels C1 and C2: (R)→TS1(TS2)→(C). In addition, the results suggest that the barrier heights to form the CO reaction channels are very high, so the CO is not a major product in the reaction.  相似文献

The O((1)D) + C(3)H(8) reaction has been reinvestigated using the universal crossed molecular beam method. Three reaction channels, CH(3) + C(2)H(4)OH, C(2)H(5) + CH(2)OH, and OH + C(3)H(7), have been observed. All three channels are significant in the title reaction with the C(2)H(5) formation process to be the most important, while the CH(3) formation and the OH formation channels are about equal. Product kinetic energy distributions and angular distributions have been determined for the three reaction channels observed. The oxygen-containing radicals in the CH(3) and C(2)H(5) formation pathways show forward-backward symmetric angular distribution relative to the O atom beam, while the OH product shows a clearly forward angular distribution. These results indicate that the OH formation channel seems to exhibit different dynamics from the CH(3) and C(2)H(5) channels.  相似文献

In an attempt to explain the observed nightglow emission from OH(v=10) in the mesosphere that has the energy greater than the exothermicity of the H+O(3) reaction, potential energy surfaces were calculated for reactions of high lying electronic states of O(2)(A (3)Sigma(u) (+) and A' (3)Delta(u)) with atomic hydrogen H((2)S) to produce the ground state products OH((2)Pi)+O((3)P). From collinear two-dimensional scans, several adiabatic and nonadiabatic pathways have been identified. Multiconfigurational single and double excitation configuration interaction calculations show that the adiabatic pathways on a (4)Delta potential surface from O(2)(A' (3)Delta)+H and a (4)Sigma(+) potential surface from O(2)(A (3)Sigma(u) (+))+H are the most favorable, with the zero-point corrected barrier heights of as low as 0.191 and 0.182 eV, respectively, and the reactions are fast. The transition states for these pathways are collinear and early, and the reaction coordinate suggests that the potential energy release of ca. 3.8 eV (larger than the energy required to excite OH to v=10) is likely to favor high vibrational excitation.  相似文献

The reactions CH(3)CO + O(2)--> products (1), CH(3)CO + O(2)--> OH +other products (1b) and CH(3)C(O)CH(2) + O(2)--> products (2) have been studied in isothermal discharge flow reactors with laser induced fluorescence monitoring of OH and CH(3)C(O)CH(2) radicals. The experiments have been performed at overall pressures between 1.33 and 10.91 mbar of helium and 298 +/- 1 K reaction temperature. OH formation has been found to be the dominant reaction channel for CH(3)CO + O(2): the branching ratio, Gamma(1b) = k(1b)/k(1), is close to unity at around 1 mbar, but decreases rapidly with increasing pressure. The rate constant of the overall reaction, k(2), has been found to be pressure dependent: the fall-off behaviour has been analysed in comparison with reported data. Electronic structure calculations have confirmed that at room temperature the reaction of CH(3)C(O)CH(2) with O(2) is essentially a recombination-type process. At high temperatures, the further reactions of the acetonyl-peroxyl adduct may yield OH radicals, but the most probable channel seems to be the O(2)-catalysed keto-enol transformation of acetonyl. Implications of the results for atmospheric modelling studies have been discussed.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are carried out to investigate partial oxidation of propylene over neutral VO 3 clusters. C=C bond cleavage products CH 3CHO + VO 2CH 2 and HCHO + VO 2CHCH 3 can be formed overall barrierlessly from the reaction of propylene with VO 3 at room temperature. Formation of hydrogen transfer products H 2O + VO 2C 3H 4, CH 2=CHCHO + VO 2H 2, CH 3CH 2CHO + VO 2, and (CH 3) 2CO + VO 2 is subject to tiny (0.01 eV) or small (0.06 eV, 0.19 eV) overall free energy barriers, although their formation is thermodynamically more favorable than the formation of C=C bond cleavage products. These DFT results are in agreement with recent experimental observations. VO 3 regeneration processes at room temperature are also investigated through reaction of O 2 with the CC bond cleavage products VO 2CH 2 and VO 2CHCH 3. The following barrierless reaction channels are identified: VO 2CH 2 + O 2 --> VO 3 + CH 2O; VO 2CH 2 + O 2 --> VO 3C + H 2O, VO 3C + O 2 --> VO 3 + CO 2; VO 2CHCH 3 + O 2 --> VO 3 + CH 3CHO; and VO 2CHCH 3 + O 2 --> VO 3C + CH 3OH, VO 3C + O 2 --> VO 3 + CO 2. The kinetically most favorable reaction products are CH 3CHO, H 2O, and CO 2 in the gas phase model catalytic cycles. The results parallel similar behavior in the selective oxidation of propylene over condensed phase V 2O 5/SiO 2 catalysts.  相似文献

A pure and highly intense state-selected pulsed supersonic CH(X (2)Pi) radical beam source was developed by use of the C((1)D)+H(2) reaction with the combination of the state selection and purification by an electrostatic hexapole field. Under the beam-cell condition, the elementary reactions of CH+NO and CH+O(2) were studied by using this state-selected CH beam. NH(A (3)Pi) [and NCO(A (2)Sigma(+))] formations and OH(A (2)Sigma(+)) formation were directly identified in the elementary reaction of CH+NO and CH+O(2), respectively. For the CH+NO reaction, the relative branching ratio sigma(NCO*)sigma(NH) of NCO(A (2)Sigma(+)) formation to NH(A (3)Pi) formation was determined to be 0.35+/-0.15. The state-selected reaction cross sections were determined for each rotational state of CH. In the CH+NO reaction, a remarkable rotational state dependence of the reactive cross section was revealed, while the CH+O(2) reaction showed little rotational state dependence.  相似文献

A relative rate experiment is carried out for six isotopologues of methanol and their reactions with OH and Cl radicals. The reaction rates of CH2DOH, CHD2OH, CD3OH, (13)CH3OH, and CH3(18)OH with Cl and OH radicals are measured by long-path FTIR spectroscopy relative to CH3OH at 298 +/- 2 K and 1013 +/- 10 mbar. The OH source in the reaction chamber is photolysis of ozone to produce O((1)D) in the presence of a large excess of molecular hydrogen: O((1)D) + H2 --> OH + H. Cl is produced by the photolysis of Cl2. The FTIR spectra are fitted using a nonlinear least-squares spectral fitting method with measured high-resolution infrared spectra as references. The relative reaction rates defined as alpha = k(light)/k(heavy) are determined to be: k(OH + CH3OH)/k(OH + (13)CH3OH) = 1.031 +/- 0.020, k(OH + CH3OH)/k(OH + CH3(18)OH) = 1.017 +/- 0.012, k(OH + CH3OH)/k(OH + CH2DOH) = 1.119 +/- 0.045, k(OH + CH3OH)/k(OH + CHD2OH) = 1.326 +/- 0.021 and k(OH + CH3OH)/k(OH + CD3OH) = 2.566 +/- 0.042, k(Cl + CH3OH)/k(Cl + (13)CH3OH) = 1.055 +/- 0.016, k(Cl + CH3OH)/k(Cl + CH3(18)OH) = 1.025 +/- 0.022, k(Cl + CH3OH)/k(Cl + CH2DOH) = 1.162 +/- 0.022 and k(Cl + CH3OH)/k(Cl + CHD2OH) = 1.536 +/- 0.060, and k(Cl + CH3OH)/k(Cl + CD3OH) = 3.011 +/- 0.059. The errors represent 2sigma from the statistical analyses and do not include possible systematic errors. Ground-state potential energy hypersurfaces of the reactions were investigated in quantum chemistry calculations at the CCSD(T) level of theory with an extrapolated basis set. The (2)H, (13)C, and (18)O kinetic isotope effects of the OH and Cl reactions with CH3OH were further investigated using canonical variational transition state theory with small curvature tunneling and compared to experimental measurements as well as to those observed in CH4 and several other substituted methane species.  相似文献

The elementary reaction of the CH3 radical with NO2 was investigated by time-resolved FTIR spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. The CH3 radical was produced by laser photolysis of CH3Br or CH3I at 248 nm. Vibrationally excited products OH, HNO and CO2 were observed by the time-resolved spectroscopy for the first time. The formation of another product NO was also verified. According to these observations, the product channels leading to CH3O+NO, CH2NO+OH and HNO+H2CO were identified. The channel of CH3O+NO was the major one. The reaction mechanisms of the above channels were studied by quantum chemical calculations at CCSD(T)/6-311++G(df,p)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) level. The calculated results fit with the experimental observations well.  相似文献
