We compute the cross section for the transition, induced by the absorption of light, of acceptor bound holes to states in the split-off valence band in Ge. We find good agreement with the available low temperature optical absorption data.  相似文献

The crossing between absolute (L1) and secondary (Δ1) minima which occurs in Ge under the application of a hydrostatic pressure has been found to evidence the strong multi-valley interactions responsible of an anomalous pressure dependence of the A1 level. An approximate formula for integral intensity of the compensation-induced parity-forbidden optical transition within the ground state of shallow donors in Ge and Si is derived in the limit of small compensations. We report on measurements of the ultrasonic attenuation in GaAs:Mn at frequencies between 400 and 2000 MHz and at temperatures between 1 and 35K. The results indicate that there is a level 3 meV above the acceptor ground state.  相似文献

Ultrasonic attenuation has been measured in the intermediate state of high purity single crystals of indium of different sizes over the frequency range 10–30 MHz. Oscillations in the temperature dependence of attenuation of longitudinal ultrasound have been observed and are discussed here in the light of a recent theory.  相似文献

The conductivity and ultrasonic absorption in superionic conductors are condsidered. The hopping motion of silver ions exhibit collective properties because of the Fermi type site occupation numbers. The calculated a.c. conductivity is different from the ordinary Drude expression. The ultrasonic wave modulate the hopping motion of the silver ions and produce space charge. The dissipation of the wave energy is due to this production and is calculated as Joule heating. The absorption coefficient is proportional to the conductivity and the square power of the frequency in agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

Human footsteps generate broadband frequency vibrations in the ground/floor and sound in the air from a few Hertz up to ultrasonic frequencies due to striking and sliding contacts between a foot and the ground/floor. The high-frequency (above 1 kHz) vibrations from footsteps were detected on a building floor, but were not detected on the outdoor ground, even at 1 m from a walker. This paper presents results of ultrasound registration from footsteps on the ground at greater distances. Results are based on sound measurements in air, since the sound absorption in air is less than vibration absorption in the ground.  相似文献

We study the ground state energy of an atom interacting with an oscillating optical field with electric dipole and quadrupole coupling.Under the rotating wave approximation,we derive the effective atomic Hamiltonians of the dipole/quadrupole coupling term within the perturbation theory up to the second order.Based on the effective Hamiltonians,we analyze the atomic ground-state energy corrections of these two processes in detail.As an application,we find that for alkali-like atoms,the energy correction from the quadrupole coupling is negligible small in comparison with that from the dipole coupling,which justifies the so-called dipole approximation used in literatures.Some special cases where the quadrupole interaction may have considerable energy corrections are also discussed.Our results would be beneficial for the study of atom–light interaction beyond dipole approximation.  相似文献

The results of the calculation of electronic wave functions and spectra of electrons and holes in silicon quantum dots with a shallow impurity center of the donor type are presented. The fine splitting of energy levels induced by the Coulomb interaction of charge carriers with the donor and by the spin-orbit splitting in the valence band is obtained in the framework of the envelope function approximation. It is shown that the maximum removal of degeneracy is accomplished in the case of an asymmetric location of the donor inside the quantum dot when the directions of the donor radius vector do not coincide with the principal crystallographic directions.  相似文献

The ground state and the tunnelling dynamics of the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) loaded in a tilted shallow trap is studied analytically and numerically. The stable bound state, the quasi-bound state and the diffusion state are predicted. The thresholds for transition between the different states are obtained and the stability diagram in parameter space is presented. The tunnelling dynamics of the system in different states is revealed. The shape of the potential well and the atomic interaction play important role and have coupled effect on the tunnelling dynamics of the system. Furthermore, the resonant tunnelling phenomenon in the parametrically modulated shallow trap is observed. The results show that when the modulating frequency approaches the dipolar mode of the system, resonant tunnelling occurs and the whole system is unstable. Our results provide a theoretical evidence for studying the tunnelling dynamics of the ultracold atomic system.  相似文献

Using the atomic beam magnetic resonance method several hyperfine transitions in the ground state of165Ho were measured at magnetic fields near zero Oe. Including a hexadecapole interaction constantD a perfect fit of the seven hyperfine separations was possible giving the following results:A′=800.583645 (6)MHz,C′=?1.504 (37)kHzB′=?1668.00527 (33)MHz,D′=?0.137 (14)kHz. These interaction constants have been corrected for second order hyperfine interaction within the4I ground multiplet. The corrected constants are the following:A=800.583173 (36)MHz,C=?0.249 (140)kHzB=?1668.078 70 (330) MHz,D=?0.148 (16) kHz. Using a value for 〈r 4f /?5 Ho of Fraga a nuclear hexadecapole moment can be calculated:Π(165Ho)=0.89·10?48cm4. Because of severe uncertainties still present in the theory for calculating the electronic matrix elements this value can be only regarded as highly speculative.  相似文献

The field-temperature phase diagram of a two-dimensional, three-spin interaction Ising model is studied using two different methods: mean field approximation and numerical transfer matrix techniques. The former leads to a rather rich phase diagram in which two separate phases with different symmetries can be found, and which presents first-order transition lines, a triple point, and a critical end point, like the solid-liquid-gas phase diagram of a pure compound. The numerical transfer matrix study confirms part of these results, but does not clearly evidence the existence of the less symmetric phase.  相似文献

We report time-resolved transient spectral hole burning of Verneuil-grown 20 ppm and ca. 0.6 ppm ruby (Al2O3:Cr3+) in zero field and low magnetic fields B∥c at 4 K. The hole-burning spectroscopy of the 20 ppm sample implies relatively rapid cross relaxation in the 4A2 ground state on the ∼1 ms timescale both in zero field and in low magnetic fields, B∥c, up to 0.2 T. In the 0.6 ppm sample, side-hole to anti-hole conversion is observed both in zero field and in low magnetic fields. This conversion is caused by population storage in 4A2 ground state levels. Spin-lattice relaxation, on the 200 ms timescale, is directly observed from the time dependence of the resonant hole and anti holes in B∥c, consistent with a very low cross-relaxation rate. However, in zero field cross relaxation in the 4A2 ground state is still a significant relaxation mechanism for the 0.6 ppm sample resulting in hole decay in ∼50 ms.  相似文献
