Summary The syntheses of several new coordination complexes of nickel(II), cobalt(II), manganese(II), copper(II), zinc(II), dioxouranium(VI) and dioxomolybdenum(VI) with new Schiff bases derived from 2-benzothiazolecarbohydrazide and salicylaldehyde or 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde are described. These complexes have been characterised by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility, molecular weight, i.r. and electronic spectra. The Schiff bases behave as dibasic and tridentate ligands coordinating through the ONO donor system and form complexes of the types NiL · 3H2O, MnL · 2H2O, CoL · 2H2O, CuL, ZnL · H2O, UO2L · MeOH and MoO2L · MeOH (where LH2 = Schiff base). The copper(II) complexes exhibit subnormal magnetic moments indicating the presence of an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction, whereas the nickel(II), cobalt(II) and manganese(II) complexes behave normally at room temperature. Zinc(II), dioxouranium(VI) and dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes are diamagnetic; the zinc (II) complexes are tetrahedral, the copper(II) complexes are square planar, all the other complexes are octahedral. Thev(C=N),v(C-O),v(N-N) andv(C-S) shifts have been measured in order to locate the Schiff base coordination sites.  相似文献

MnIII complexes of asymmetric tetradentate Schiff bases, derived from HAE (7-amino-4-methyl-5-aza-3-hepten-2-one) and aldehydes or ketones containing imidazole, pyrazine or dehydroacetic fragments, have been prepared and thoroughly characterised by elemental analysis, i.r. and electronic spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and by magnetic measurements. The X-ray crystal structure of [Mn(dha)2(H2O)2] (Hdha = dehydroacetic acid), obtained by rearrangement of the corresponding asymmetrical Schiff base complex, is also reported.  相似文献

A new Schiff base has been synthesized from 4-aminoantipyrine and 3-formylsalicylic acid. The ligand has a dianionic tetradentate compartmental OONO donor system. The cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and dioxouranium(VI) complexes exist in phenolato-bridged dinuclear species, while palladium(II) gives a mononuclear complex with free –COOH groups. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, i.r., u.v.-vis, thermal and magnetic measurements.  相似文献

Five new cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) complexes with Schiff bases have been synthesized. The Schiff bases have been prepared by the condensation of monopotassium 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-2,4-disulfonate with benzoin (L1) or 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde (L2). The compounds have been identified and studied by elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, measurements of magnetic susceptibility and electrical conductivity, and IR, ESR, and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The dimeric (with oxo bridges) structure of the Co(II) complex with L1 has been additionally confirmed by the EXAFS method.  相似文献

Summary Metal(II) chelates of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydro-3-oxo-N,1-diphenyl-5-(phenylmethylene)-2-naphthalenecarboxamide with o-aminophenol (KAAP), o-aminothiophenol (KAAT) or o-aminobenzoic acid (KAAB) have been prepared and characterized. The complexes are of the type [M(N2X)]2 for M = CuII and M(NX)2·nH2O for M = NiII, CoII and VOII (X = phenolic oxygen, thiophenolic sulphur or carboxylic oxygen; n = 0 or 2). Conductivity data indicate that the complexes are non-ionic. The Schiff bases behave as dibasic tridentate ligands in their copper(II) complexes and as monobasic bidentate ligands in their nickel(II), cobalt(II) and vanadyl(II) complexes. The subnormal magnetic moments of the copper(II) complexes are ascribed to an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction arising from dimerization. Nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes are trans octahedral whereas vanadyl(II) complexes are square pyramidal  相似文献

Substitutions of anhydrous copper(II) acetate with higher carboxylic acids in an equimolar ratio in refluxing toluene yield monosubstituted soluble derivatives, which undergo substitutions with Schiff bases (derived from salicylaldehyde and aniline or p-chloroaniline) to give mixed complexes of the general formula [Cu(OOCR)- (SB)] (HSB = Schiff base and R = C13H27, C15H31, C17H35 and C21H43). The products have been characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic moment and spectral (i.r. and electronic) data. Cryoscopic molecular weight determinations indicate that the derivatives are dimers. The complexes are e.p.r. silent.  相似文献

Ten new cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) complexes with Schiff bases obtained by condensation of 2-amino-4,8-naphthalenedisulfonic acid with carbinols (salicylaldehyde, benzoin, and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde) have been synthesized. The compounds were studied by the X-ray powder diffraction method, thermal analysis, magnetic susceptibility and electric conductance measurements, and IR, EPR, diffuse reflectance, and EXAFS spectroscopy. The compositions of coordination cores in the complexes have been established. It was noted that the diversity of the resulting polyhedra is determined by the synthesis conditions, specific features of the stereochemistry of the ligands, and the electronic structure of the complex-forming metal.  相似文献

Azo compounds were prepared by coupling of benzenediazonium chloride ions with 1-amino-2-hydroxy-4-naphthalene sulfonic acid under alkaline conditions, and Schiff bases, L1–3 were then obtained by the condensation of 1-amino-2-hydroxy-3-(phenylazo)-4-naphthalene sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2-hydroxy-3-(4-ethylphenylazo)-4-naphthalene sulfonic acid, and 1-amino-2-hydroxy-3-(4-nitrophenylazo)-4-naphthalene sulfonic acid with salicylaldehyde. New copper(II), nickel(II), and zinc(II) complexes of the Schiff base ligands were also prepared and characterized by spectroscopic methods, magnetic measurements, elemental, and thermogravimetric analysis.  相似文献

Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes with bidentate Schiff bases derived from the condensation reaction of 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde, 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde, and 3,5 ditertiarybutyl-2-hydroxy benzaldehyde with tryptamine, have been reported. The ligands and complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and UV–Vis spectroscopy as well as single crystal X-ray structure analysis whenever possible. The complexes were found to have the general formula [M(L)2]. Spectral studies reveal that these Schiff bases were acting as bidentate ligands and co-ordinating to the metal center through deprotonated phenolate oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms. The Zn(II) complexes establish a tetrahedral geometry in a 1:2 metal to ligand stoichiometry, whereas a square planar geometry was proposed for the nickel and copper complexes, slightly distorted in the case of the latter. The antiulcer activity of 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde derivative and its nickel and copper complexes were evaluated in ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats. This Schiff base and its complexes promote ulcer protection as ascertained by the comparative decrease in ulcer areas, and inhibition of edema and leucocyte infiltration of the submucosal layer.  相似文献

Summary Partial displacement of the symmetrical bis-Schiff bases (1)–(4) of ethylenediamine and salicyladehyde, o-hydroxyacetophenone, acetylacetone or benzoylacetone by dehydroacetic acid have led to the formation and isolation of the unsymmetrical bis-Schiff base ligands (6)–(9). Attempted partial displacements of the symmetrical bis-Schiff base (5) of dehydroacetic acid or (1)–(4) by each of the other four carbonyl compounds have been unsuccessful. The Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of (6)–(9) have been prepared and characterized.  相似文献

The kinetics of hydrolysis of ortho- or para-hydroxybenzylidene-4-benzidine Schiff bases have been examined in the pH range 1.70–11.90, in aqueous media containing 20wt% dioxane, at 20 °C. In basic media, pH > 8.47, a slight increase in the hydrolysis reaction rate of the Schiff bases is observed. In such basic media, the rate-controlling step is the attack of hydroxide ion on the ionized Schiff base. Below pH 6.82, the rate-determining step is ascribed to be the attack of water molecules on the protonated substrate. The effects of Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions on the hydrolysis reaction rate of the Schiff bases have been studied and discussed on the basis of formation of a monocyclic chelate rings. The various thermodynamic parameters have also been evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

Complexation of copper(II) with a series of heterodonor chelating Schiff bases (LL) of salicylic acid hydrazide and aliphatic or cycloaliphatic ketones affords soluble one-dimensional (1D) metallopolymers containing Schiff bases as bridging ligands. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction results reveal nanometer-sized metallopolymeric wires [Cu(μ-LL)(2)](n) with off-axis linkers and a zigzag geometry. Octahedrally coordinated copper centers, exhibiting a Jahn-Teller distortion, are doubly bridged by two Schiff-base molecules in the μ(2)-η(1),η(2) coordination mode. The use of dibutylketone with long alkyl chains as a component for Schiff base formation leads to a distorted square planar monomeric copper(II) complex [Cu(LL)(2)], as evidenced by its X-ray crystal structure. The compounds are characterized by elemental analyses and IR and UV-vis spectroscopy, as well as magnetic susceptibility and cyclic voltammetry measurements. Electrochemical studies on the complexes reveal an existence of polymeric and monomeric forms in solution and the dependence of Cu(II)/Cu(I) reduction potentials on alkyl groups of salicyloyl hydrazone ligands. Polymeric complexes form conducting films on Pt electrodes upon multicycle potential sweeps.  相似文献

Copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of Schiff bases obtained by condensation of amoxicillin and cephalexin with salicylaldehyde/pyridoxal were prepared and characterized by microanalytical, thermogravimetric, magnetic and spectroscopic data. All the complexes were found to be six‐coordinate and containing two water molecules. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectral lines exhibited rhombic distortion from axial symmetry, with g|| > g? > ge, in the copper(II) complexes. The geometry of the zinc(II) complexes appears to be octahedral. All the compounds under investigation showed antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity showed the following trend: copper(II) complexes > zinc(II) complexes > Schiff base ligands > parent drugs. The copper(II) complexes with the Schiff bases derived from cephalexin showed substantially enhanced activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared with the parent drug. All the copper complexes were also found to be active against kaolin paw oedema, whereas the parent drugs were inactive. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The Schiff bases of N(2)O(2) dibasic ligands, H(2)La and H(2)Lb are prepared by the condensation of ethylenediamine (a) and trimethylenediamine (b) with 6-formyl-7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-2-methylbenzopyran-4-one. Also tetra basic ligands, H(4)La and H(4)Lb are prepared by the condensation of aliphatic amines (a) and (b) with 6-formyl-5,7-dihydroxy-2-methylbenzopyran-4-one. New complexes of H(4)La and H(4)Lb with metal ions Mn(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) are synthesized, in addition Mn(II) complexes with ligands H(2)La and H(2)Lb are also synthesized. Elemental and thermal analyses, infrared, ultraviolet-visible as well as conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements are used to elucidate the structure of the newly prepared metal complexes. The structures of copper(II) complexes are also assigned based upon ESR spectra study. All the complexes separated with the stoichiometric ratio (1:1) (M:L) except Mn-H(4)La and Mn-H(4)Lb with (2:1) (M:L) molar ratio. In metal chelates of the type 1:1 (M:L), the Schiff bases behave as a dinegative N(2)O(2) tetradentate ligands. Moreover in 2:1 (M:L) complexes, the Schiff base molecules act as mono negative bidentate ligand and binuclear complex is then formed. The Schiff bases were assayed by the disc diffusion method for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The antifungal activity of the Schiff bases was also evaluated against the fungi Aspergillus flavus and Candida albicans.  相似文献

This article reports the synthesis and characterization of four Ni(II) Schiff base complexes, [Ni(L)(H2O)], where H2L = N-(dehydroacetic acid)-thiosemicarbazide (H2dha-tsc), N-(dehydroacetic acid)-4-methyl-3-thiosemicarbazide (H2dha-mtsc), N-(dehydroacetic acid)-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazide (H2dha-ptsc), or N-(dehydroacetic acid)-4-phenylsemicarbazide (H2dha-psc). The nature of bonding and stereochemistry of these complexes have been deduced from elemental analysis, infrared and electronic spectral studies, molar conductance, magnetic measurements, mass spectrometry, thermogravimetric analysis, 1H NMR and 13C NMR studies, and cyclic voltammetry. The stabilities of the complexes were determined in both solid state and solution. Molecular geometry optimizations and vibrational frequency calculations were performed with Gaussian 09 software package using density functional theory (DFT) with B3LYP/6-311G for a ligand (dha-ptscH2) and B3LYP/LANL2DZ combination for [Ni(dha-mtsc)(H2O)]. Based on the combined experimental and theoretical studies, square planar geometry has been proposed for the Ni(II) complexes. The Schiff base ligands and their metal complexes were screened for antibacterial activities against gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli ) at different concentrations to get their minimum inhibition concentration values. The bactericidal activity was enhanced in metal complexes as compared to free ligands.  相似文献

Summary Synthesis of a new Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and 5-methylpyrazole-3-carbohydrazide, and its coordination compounds with nickel(II), cobalt(II), copper(II), manganese(II), zinc(II), zirconium(IV), dioxouranium(VI) and dioxomolybdenum(VI) are described. The ligand and the complexes have been characterized on the basis of analytical, conductance, molecular weight, i.r., electronic and n.m.r. spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The stoichiometries of the complexes are represented as NiL · 3H2O, CoL · 2H2O, CuL, MnL · 2H2O, ZnL · H2O, Zr(OH)2(LH)2, Zr(OH)2L · 2MeOH, UO2L · MeOH and MoO2L · MeOH (where LH2 = Schiff base). The copper(II) complex shows a subnormal magnetic moment due to antiferromagnetic exchange interaction while the nickel(II), cobalt(II) and manganese (II) complexes show normal magnetic moments at room temperature. The i.r. and n.m.r. spectral studies show that the Schiff base behaves as a dibasic and tridentate ligand coordinating through the deprotonated phenolic.oxygen, enolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen.  相似文献

Hexa-coordinated ruthenium(II) complexes of the type [Ru(CO)(PPh3)(Z)(L)] [Z = PPh3, pyridine (py) or piperidine (pip); L = anion of the Schiff base] have been prepared by reacting [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)2(Z)] with tridentate Schiff bases derived by condensing anthranilic acid with acetylacetone, salicylaldehyde, o-vanillin and o-hydroxyacetophenone. The complexes were characterised by analytical and spectral (i.r., electronic, 1H- and 31P-n.m.r.) data, and were found to be effective catalysts for oxidising primary alcohols to aldehydes in the presence of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMO) as co-oxidant. The Schiff bases and their ruthenium(II) complexes show growth inhibitory activity against pathogenic fungi Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium oxysporium and Rhizoctonia solani.  相似文献

2,6-Diacetylpyridine bis(benzenesulfonohydrazide) Schiff bases (L1, L2 and L3) and their Cu(II) complexes of the general formula [CuL·H2O] were synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The crystal structure of [CuL3·(py)]·py was investigated by single crystal X-ray structure analysis. The Cu(II) cation has near square pyramidal, penta-coordinate geometry. The binegatively charged tetradentate Schiff base is asymmetrically coordinated to the Cu(II) ion via the pyridine N atom, the azomethine N atom, the sulfonyl O atom and the deprotonated hydrazine N atom. There is a pyridine molecule apically coordinated to the Cu(II) ion. All the Schiff bases and their copper(II) complexes were screened by the disc diffusion method against multi-drug resistant (MDR) gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values were also determined. These results show that the antibacterial activity of the Schiff bases against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is enhanced when they are chelated with the copper(II) ion.  相似文献

Summary The coordination behaviour of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of some of the heterocyclic aldehydes with hydrazine hydrate, towards FeII, PdII and PtII, has been studied. The 1:1 and 1:2 molar reactions of MCl2 with the Schiff bases result in coloured solids which have been characterised by elemental analysis, conductance and magnetic measurements. The mode of bonding has been deduced from i.r. and n.m.r. (1H and13C) studies.  相似文献
