This paper presents and analyzes the behaviour of TRIP 1000 steel sheets subjected to low velocity perforation by conical projectiles. The relevance of this material resides in the potential transformation of retained austenite to martensite during impact loading. This process leads to an increase in strength and ductility of the material. However, this transformation takes place only under certain loading conditions strongly dependent on the initial temperature and deformation rate. In order to study the material behaviour under impact loading, perforation tests have been performed using a drop weight tower. Experiments were carried out at two different initial temperatures T0 = 213 K and T0 = 288 K, and within the range of impact velocities 2.5 m/s ? V0 ? 4.5 m/s. The experimental setup enabled the measuring of impact velocity, residual velocity, load-time history and failure mode. In addition, dry and lubricated contacts between the striker and the plate have been investigated. Finally, by using X-ray diffraction it has been shown that no martensitic transformation takes place during the perforation process. The causes involving the none-appearance of martensite are examined.  相似文献

Three-dimensional numerical simulations have been performed to study the behaviour of ductile targets subjected to normal and oblique impact by sharp nosed cylindrical projectiles. Twelve-mm-thick Weldox 460 E steel targets were impacted by 20 mm diameter projectiles with conical nose and 1-mm-thick 1100-H12 aluminum targets were impacted by 19 mm diameter ogive nosed projectiles. In both the cases, the targets were impacted at 0°, 15°, 30°, 45° and 60° obliquity or until the ricochet of the projectile occurred. The ballistic limit of 12 mm steel targets was found to be almost same up to 30° obliquity and thereafter it increased sharply. However, in the case of 1 mm aluminum targets a consistent increase in the ballistic limit was observed with increase in obliquity. The critical angle of projectile ricochet was found to increase with increase in impact velocity. Both the targets failed through ductile hole enlargement. Petal formation occurred in the aluminum targets and four petals were generally formed in each plate, however, the size of the upper two petals decreased and that of the lower two petals increased with increase in target obliquity. In the case of the steel targets the perforation occurred through the formation of a hole enclosed by a bulge. Both the bulge and the hole were circular in normal impact and elliptical in oblique impact. Petal formation in steel targets was observed at 60° obliquity. The ABAQUS/explicit finite element code was used to carry out numerical simulations.  相似文献

The process of ductile plate perforation by sharp-nosed rigid projectiles is further examined in this work through 2D numerical simulations. We highlight various features concerning the effective resisting stress (σr) which a finite thickness plate, with a flow stress of Yt, exerts on the projectile during perforation. In particular, we show that the normalized resisting stress (σr/Yt) can be represented as a unique function of the normalized thickness of the plate (H/D, where H is plate thickness and D is projectile diameter), for a large range of normalized thicknesses. Our simulations for very thin target plates show that the penetration process is achieved through the well-known dishing mechanism, where the target material is pushed forward by the projectile’s nose. An important observation, which emerges from our simulations, is that the transition between the dishing and the hole enlargement mechanisms takes place at a normalized thickness of about H/D = 1/3. We also find that the normalized resistive stress for intermediate plate thicknesses, 1/3 < H/D < 1.0, is relatively constant at a value of σr/Yt = 2.0. This range of thicknesses conforms to a state of quasi plane stress in the plates. For thicker plates (H/D > 1) the σr/Yt ratio increases monotonically to values which represent the resistance to penetration of semi-infinite targets, where the stress state is characterized by plane strain conditions. Using a simple model, which is based on energy conservation, we can predict the values of the ballistic limit velocities for many projectile/target combinations, provided the perforation is done through the ductile hole enlargement mechanism. Good agreement is demonstrated between predictions from our model and experimental data from different sources, strongly enhancing the confidence in both the validity and usefulness of our model.  相似文献

By using the reciprocal theorem of elasticity, the author obtained the appropriate stress boundary conditions for the Levy solution for plate bending accurate to all order for plates of general edge geometry and loading. Two special cases of k = 0 (axisymmetric deformation of a circular plate) and k  2 (unsymmetric deformation of a circular plate) were discussed in detail in the paper.  相似文献

The present study deals with the experimental and numerical investigations of aluminum target plates impacted by blunt, ogive and hemispherical nosed steel projectiles. The projectiles were normally impacted on the target plates of 0.5, 0.71, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 mm thicknesses at different velocities with the help of a pneumatic gun. Effect of projectile nose shape, impact velocity and plate thickness on the deformation of the target plates was studied. Hemispherical nosed projectile caused highest global deformation (dishing) of the target plates. Ogive nosed projectiles were found to be the most efficient penetrator for the case of plates of thicknesses 0.5, 0.71, 1.0 and 1.5 mm. For the case of plates of thicknesses 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm however, blunt nosed projectiles required least energy to perforate the target plates. The ballistic limit velocity of hemispherical nosed projectiles was found to be highest as compared to the other two projectiles. Finite element analysis of the problem was carried out using ABAQUS finite element code. Results of the numerical analysis were compared with the experiments and good correlation between the two was found.  相似文献

The local flow characteristics of oil–water dispersed flow in a vertical upward pipe were studied experimentally. The inner diameter and length of the test section are 40 mm and 3800 mm, respectively. A double-sensor conductivity probe was used to measure the local interfacial parameters, including interfacial area concentration, oil phase fraction, interfacial velocity, and oil drops Sauter mean diameter. The water flow rates varied from 0.12 m/s to 0.89 m/s, while the oil flow rates ranged from 0.024 m/s to 0.198 m/s. Typical radial profiles of interfacial area concentration, oil phase fraction, interfacial velocity, and oil drops Sauter mean diameter are presented. An interesting phenomenon is that the local and cross-section-averaged interfacial area concentrations display concave change with water flow rate under constant oil flow rate. The physical mechanism of such a variation is discussed in details.  相似文献

Pipeline slurry flow of mono-dispersed particles through horizontal bend is numerically simulated by implementing Eulerian two-phase model in FLUENT software. A hexagonal shape and Cooper type non-uniform three-dimensional grid is chosen to discretize the entire computational domain, and a control volume finite difference method is used to solve the governing equations. The modeling results are compared with the experimental data collected in 53.0 mm diameter horizontal bend with radius of 148.4 mm for concentration profiles and pressure drops. Experiments are performed on narrow-sized silica sand with mean diameter of 450 μm and for flow velocity up to 3.56 m/s (namely, 1.78, 2.67 and 3.56 m/s) and four efflux concentrations up to 16.28% (namely, 0%, 3.94%, 8.82% and 16.28%) by volume for each velocity. Eulerian model gives fairly accurate predictions for both the pressure drop and concentration profiles at all efflux concentrations and flow velocities.  相似文献

An optical method is developed for a 2.95 mm inner diameter circular mini-channel to estimate liquid film thicknesses. The greyscale pictures obtained with a high-speed camera are processed to determine the liquid-vapour interface positions for annular and intermittent flows. The experiments are thus performed for a large range of flow conditions. The saturation temperatures tested ranged from 20°C to 100°C in steps of 10°C and the mass velocities are 50, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg m−2 s−1. A new parameter ranging from 0 to 1, the symmetry, is defined to account for the level of non uniformity of liquid distribution around the tube perimeter. New experimental data are presented (270 data points), that cover a range of symmetry parameter from 0.35 to 1.00. These data are merged with those available in the literature (406 data points with symmetry parameter from 0.71 to 1.00). A sensitivity analysis of the dimensionless numbers of major influence is run and a new correlation is proposed, that enables to predict over 90% of the data points in an error bandwidth of 10%. This correlation is proposed as criterion for asymmetry.  相似文献

An experimental investigation was carried out on viscous oil–gas flow characteristics in a 69 mm internal diameter pipe. Two-phase flow patterns were determined from holdup time-traces and videos of the flow field in a transparent section of the pipe, in which synthetic commercial oils (32 and 100 cP) and sulfur hexafluoride gas (SF6) were fed at oil superficial velocities from 0.04 to 3 m/s and gas superficial velocities from 0.0075 to 3 m/s.  相似文献

An optical measurement method using image processing for two-phase flow pattern characterization in minichannel is developed. The bubble frequency, the percentage of small bubbles as well as their velocity are measured. A high-speed high-definition video camera is used to measure these parameters and to identify the flow regimes and their transitions. The tests are performed in a 3.0 mm glass channel using saturated R-245fa at 60 °C (4.6 bar). The mass velocity is ranging from 100 to 1500 kg/m2 s, the heat flux is varying from 10 to 90 kW/m2 and the inlet vapor quality from 0 to 1. Four flow patterns (bubbly flow, bubbly–slug flow, slug flow and annular flow) are recognized. The comparison between the present experimental intermittent/annular transition lines and five transition lines from macroscale and microscale flow pattern maps available in the literature is presented. Finally, the influence of the flow pattern on the heat transfer coefficient is highlighted.  相似文献

The micro combustor is a key component of the micro thermophotovoltaic (TPV) system. Improving the wall temperature of the micro combustor is an effective way to elevate the system efficiency. An experimental study on the wall temperature and radiation heat flux of a series of cylindrical micro combustors (with a backward-facing step) was carried out. For the micro combustors with d = 2 mm, the regime of successful ignition (under the cold wall condition) was identified for different combustor lengths. Acoustic emission was detected for some cases and the emitted sound was recorded and analyzed. Under the steady-state condition, the effects of the combustor diameter (d), combustor length (L), flow velocity (u0) and fuel–air equivalence ratio (Ф) on the wall temperature distribution were investigated by measuring the detailed wall temperature profiles. In the case that the micro combustor is working as an emitter, the optimum efficiency was found at Ф  0.8, independent of the combustor dimensions (d and L) and the flow velocity. Under the experimental conditions employed in the present study, the positions of the peak wall temperature were found to be about 8–11 mm and 4–6 mm from the step for the d = 3 mm and d = 2 mm micro combustors, respectively, which are 8–11 and 8–12 times of their respective step heights. This result suggests that the backward-facing step employed in the combustor design is effective in stabilizing the flame position.  相似文献

Three-dimensional numerical simulations were carried out to study the ballistic resistance of ductile targets subjected to normal impact by the projectiles. 12 mm thick Weldox 460 E steel targets were impacted by 20 mm diameter conical nosed projectiles and 1 mm thick 1100-H12 aluminum targets were impacted by 19 mm diameter ogive nosed projectiles. The internal nose angle of conical projectile was varied (33.4°–180°) and found to have significant effect on the ballistic limit of 12 mm thick Weldox 460 E steel target. Similarly, the caliber radius head (CRH) of ogive nosed projectile was varied (0–2.5) and found to have significant effect on the ballistic limit of 1 mm thick 1100-H12 aluminum target. The ballistic limit of 12 mm thick Weldox 460 E steel target increased almost linearly with the decrease in the projectile nose angle. While the ballistic limit of 1 mm thick 1100-H12 aluminum target increased as the CRH increased from 0 to 0.5 and with further increase in CRH to 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 its values were found to drop quite significantly. ABAQUS/Explicit finite element code was used to carry out the numerical simulations.  相似文献

The contribution of leakage in a baghouse filter (defined as a short circuit between the upstream and downstream sides of the filter) to the emission of fine particles is quantified in comparison to other dust emission sources, and the influence of key operating variables on overall system response is analyzed. The study was conducted on a well-maintained pilot-scale filter unit (9 bags of 500 g/m2 calendered polyester needle felt; total surface area 4.2 m2) operated in Δp-controlled mode over a range of pulsing intensities, with two types of test dust (one free-flowing and the other cohesive) at inlet concentrations of 10 and 30 g/m3. Leaks included single holes between 0.5 and 4 mm diameter, intentionally placed in either the plenum plate or one of the filter bags, as well as seamlines from bag confectioning. Emissions were separated by source into a transient contribution due to dust penetration through the filter bags after each cleaning pulse, and a continuous contribution from leaks. This separation was based on a novel method of data processing that relies on time-resolved concentration measurements with a specially calibrated optical particle counter. Tiny leaks on the order of 1 mm generated the same emission level as all the bags combined, and dominated continuous emissions. The equivalent leak cross section (leakage = media emission) was about 1 ppm of the total installed filter surface, independent of upstream dust concentration. Leakage through open seamlines amounted to 75% of media emissions in case of free-flowing test dust. Leakage was restricted to aerodynamic diameters less than ∼5 μm (roughly the PM2.5 mass fraction). For comparison, time-averaged mass penetration through conventional needle-felt media ranged from about 10−5 to 10−6, depending on cohesiveness of the particle material and pulse cleaning intensity, giving emission levels between about 0.02 and 0.2 mg/m3 at the reference concentration of 10 g/m2.  相似文献

The Large Eddy Simulation model was introduced to study the micro spray characteristics under ultra-high injection pressure (>220 MPa). EFS8400 spray test platform was set up to verify the accuracy of the numerical model. The mechanisms of micro spray characteristics were studied intensively under different injection pressures (180 MPa, 240 MPa) and nozzle diameters (0.1 mm, 0.16 mm). The results indicated that the micro turbulence vortex structures can be captured, especially in the liquid spray core area. Large Eddy Simulation model combined with the small grid size of 0.25 mm show a huge advantage in studying the micro spray characteristics under ultra-high injection pressure; The turbulence vorticity and spray velocity for injection pressure of 240 MPa are more intensive than that of 180 MPa, and also the ultra-high injection pressure can contribute to strong turbulence disturbance between spray and surrounding air, which is helpful to improve the quality of spray; The spray velocity field extended wider for the diameter of 0.16 mm, and also the values of velocity in the spray center is higher than that of the diameter of 0.1 mm; The entrainment vortex appeared at the edge of the large velocity gradient between spray and surrounding air, and the higher velocity gradient for ultra-high injection pressure (240 MPa) between the spray and air is easier to increase the generation of entrainment vortex in the downstream of the spray, which can significantly increase the quality of spray and atomization.  相似文献

In the present study, new experimental data are presented for literature on the prediction of film thickness and identification of flow regime during the co-current downward condensation in a vertical smooth copper tube having an inner diameter of 8.1 mm and a length of 500 mm. R134a and water are used as working fluids in the tube side and annular side of a double tube heat exchanger, respectively. Condensation experiments are done at mass fluxes of 300 and 515 kg m?2 s?1. The condensing temperatures are between 40 and 50 °C; heat fluxes are between 12.65 and 66.61 kW m?2. The average experimental heat transfer coefficient of the refrigerant HFC-134a is calculated by applying an energy balance based on the energy transferred from the test section. A mathematical model by Barnea et al. based on the momentum balance of liquid and vapor phases is used to determine the condensation film thickness of R134a. The comparative film thickness values are determined indirectly using relevant measured data together with various void fraction models and correlations reported in the open literature. The effects of heat flux, mass flux, and condensation temperature on the film thickness and condensation heat transfer coefficient are also discussed for the laminar and turbulent flow conditions. There is a good agreement between the film thickness results obtained from the theoretical model and those obtained from six of 35 void fraction models in the high mass flux region of R134a. In spite of their different valid conditions, six well-known flow regime maps from the literature are found to be predictive for the annular flow conditions in the test tube in spite of their different operating conditions.  相似文献

Utilization of wind energy is a promising way to generate power, and wind turbine blades play a key role in collecting the wind energy effectively. This paper attempts to measure the deformation parameter of wind turbine blades in mechanics experiments using a videometric method. In view that the blades experience small buckling deformation and large integral deformation simultaneously, we proposed a parallel network measurement (PNM) method including the key techniques such as camera network construction, camera calibration, distortion correction, the semi-automatic high-precision extraction of targets, coordinate systems unification, and bundle adjustment, etc. The relatively convenient construction method of the measuring system can provide an abundant measuring content, a wide measuring range and post processing. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the integral deformation measurement is higher than 0.5 mm and that of the buckling deformation measurement higher than 0.1 mm.  相似文献

Full scale bubbly flow experiments were performed on a 6 m flat bottom survey boat, measuring the void fraction, bubble velocity and size distributions as the bubbles naturally entrained at the bow of the boat interact with the boat’s boundary layer. Double-tip sapphire optical probes capable of measuring bubbles down to 50 μm in diameter were specifically designed and built for this experiment. The probes were positioned under the hull at the bow near the bubble entrainment region and at the stern at the exit of the bottom flat plate. Motorized positioners were used to vary the probe distance to the wall from 0 to 50 mm. The experiments were performed in fresh water (Coralville Lake, IA) and salt water (Panama City Beach, FL), at varying velocities with most data analysis performed at 10, 14 and 18 knots. The results indicate that the bubbles interact significantly with the boundary layer. At low velocity in fresh water, bubble accumulation under the hull and coalescence are evident by the presence of large bubbles at the stern. At high speeds bubble breakup dominates and very small bubbles are produced near the wall. It is also observed that salt water inhibits coalescence, even at low boat speeds. The void fraction increases with speed beyond 10 knots and peaks near the wall. Bubble velocities show slip with the wall at all speeds and exhibit large RMS fluctuations, increasing near the wall.  相似文献

An accurate estimation of the total pressure drop of a pipeline is important to the reliable design of a pneumatic conveying system. The present paper presents results from an investigation into the modelling of the pressure drop at a bend in the pneumatic conveying of fly ash. Seven existing bend models were used (in conjunction with solids friction models for horizontal and vertical straight pipes, and initial acceleration losses) to predict the total pipeline pressure drop in conveying fly ash (median particle diameter: 30 μm; particle density: 2300 kg/m3; loose-poured bulk density: 700 kg/m3) in three test rigs (pipelines with dimensions of 69 mm inner diameter (I.D.) × 168 m length; 105 mm I.D. × 168 m length; 69 mm I.D. × 554 m length). A comparison of the pneumatic conveying characteristics (PCC) predicted using the seven bend models and experimental results shows that the predicted total pipeline PCC and trends depend on the choice of bend model. While some models predict trends that agree with the experimental results, other models predicted greater bend pressure drops for the dense phase of fly ash than for the dilute phase. Experiments of air water two-phase flow pressure drop in vertical internally wavy 90° bend have been carried out. The tested bends are flexible and made of stainless steel with inner diameter of 50 mm and various curvature radiuses of 200, 300, 400 and 500 mm. The experiments were performed under the following conditions of two-phase parameters; mass flux from 350 to 750 kg/m2 s. Gas quality from 1% to 50% and system pressure from 4 to 7.5 bar. The results demonstrate that the effect of the above-mentioned parameters is very significant at high ranges of mass flow quality. Due to the increasing of two-phase flow resistance, energy dissipations, friction losses and interaction of the two-phases in the vertical internally wavy 90° bend the total pressure drops are perceptible about 2–5 times grater than that in smooth bends. Based on the mass and energy balance as well as the presented experimental results, new empirical correlation has been developed to calculate the two-phase pressure drop and hence the two-phase friction factor of the tested bends. The correlation includes the relevant primary parameter, fit the data well, and is sufficiency accurate for engineering purposes.  相似文献

In the work an approach to avoid a circumferential temperature distribution existing during nucleate pool boiling on a horizontal cylinder within low heat flux densities is presented. The idea of the approach is local heat transfer enhancement by a porous layer application on a part of the heating surface. An experiment on nucleate pool boiling heat transfer from horizontal cylinders to saturated R141b and water under atmospheric pressure is reported. Experiments have been conducted using stainless steel tubes with the outside diameter between 8 mm and 23 mm with the active length of 250 mm. The outside surface of the tubes was smooth or partially coated with a porous metallic layer. In particular, measurements of inside circumferential temperature distribution have been performed.  相似文献
