The decay psi(2S) --> etaJ/psi is used to measure, for the first time, all prominent eta-meson branching fractions with the same experiment in the same dataset, thereby providing a consistent treatment of systematics across branching fractions. We present results for eta decays to gamma gamma, pi(+)pi(-)pi(0), 3pi(0), pi(+)pi(-)gamma and e(+)e(-)gamma, accounting for 99.9% of all eta decays. The precision of several of the branching fractions and their ratios is improved. Two channels, pi(+)pi(-)gamma and e(+)e(-)gamma, show results that differ at the level of three standard deviations from those previously determined.  相似文献

The recoilless fractions of 182W, 184 W, and 186W have been simultaneously measured from 30°K to 100°K in 10°K steps. They are found to agree with previous calculations of Raj and Puri.  相似文献

We have measured relative beam-foil excitation functions in S IV, V, VI and Fe V, VI, for levels with one outer-shell excited electron. The ratios of these functions to the charge-state fractions of the corresponding ions have the same dependence on the beam energy, whatever the ion charge is. A simple explanation of the results is proposed.  相似文献

We report hole-doping dependence of the in-plane resistivity rho(ab) in a cuprate superconductor La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4, carefully examined using a series of high-quality single crystals. Our detailed measurements find a tendency towards charge ordering at particular rational hole-doping fractions of 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, and 3/16. This observation appears to suggest a specific form of charge order and is most consistent with the recent theoretical prediction of the checkerboard-type ordering of the Cooper pairs at rational doping fractions x = (2m+1)/2n, with integers m and n.  相似文献

We report an observation of the decay B(O)(S) --> D(-)(s)pi(+) in pp collisions at radical S = 1.96 TeV using 115 pb(-1) of data collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe 83 +/- 11(stat) B(O)(s) --> D(-)(s)pi(+) candidates, representing a large increase in statistics over previous measurements and the first observation of this decay at a pp collider. We present the first measurement of the relative branching fraction Beta(B(O)(s) --> D(-)(s)pi(+))/Beta(B(0) --> D(-)(pi)(+)) = 1.32 +/- 0.18(stat) +/- 0.38(syst). We also measure Beta(B(+) --> D(0)pi(+))/Beta(B(0) -->D(-)pi(+)) = 1.97 +/- 0.10(stat) +/- 0.21(syst), which is consistent with previous measurements.  相似文献

A method for calculating the volume fractions of phases in a system with several simultaneously growing phases is proposed. A solution of the problem is obtained for two-and three-dimensional spaces. The approximation of independent phases is considered, in which expressions for volume fractions have the simplest form. The high accuracy of this approximation is demonstrated.  相似文献

We study the quantum Hall phases that appear in the dilute limit of rotating Bose-Einstein condensates. By exact diagonalization in a spherical geometry we obtain the ground state and low-lying excited states of a small number of bosons as a function of the filling fraction nu, the ratio of the number of bosons to the number of vortices. We show the occurrence of the Jain principal sequence of incompressible liquids for nu=2/3,3/4,4/3,5/4 in addition to the Laughlin state nu=1/2 as well as the Pfaffian state for nu=1. We give gap estimates by finite-size scaling of both charged and neutral excitations.  相似文献

Quasi-elastic neutron scattering measurements of AlCl3 aqueous solution are analysed to derived the ratio of bound to solvent water molecules. We find that the ratio depends on the nature of the binding of the water molecules in the hydration shell and in the solvent. If the details of the binding are not known it is shown that such measurements must be carried out at small neutron wavevector transfers to obtain quantitative results.  相似文献

Penning type discharge was adopted to excite helium atoms. It is suitable for generating high density metastables at a range from 0.1 mTorr to 0.5 Torr. The highest metastable density of 3.5 x 1010 cm-3 was observed at a static gas pressure of 0.5 Torr. The highest fraction of metastables (N12s/Nhe) of 10-3 in a low gas pressure was obtained. The variation of the magnetic field strength on the discharge does not result in a significant density change of the metastable helium atoms. When no magnetic field was applied, no discharge took place.  相似文献

We have experimentally studied optical and magneto-optical spectra of solutions of crude oils of different origin and their heavy fractions in the visible spectral range. Magnetic circular dichroism of oil in the wavelength range ??550 nm has been revealed. We show that the shape of the spectra of this dichroism depends on the origin of crude oil, with the magnetic dichroism magnitude being proportional to the concentration of the oil in the solution. A comparison of the data of magneto-optical spectroscopy with electron paramagnetic resonance spectra and chemical composition of samples has allowed us to conclude that the observed magneto-optical activity is determined by the occurrence of VO2+ complexes in the oil samples. The revealed magneto-optical activity of crude oil can form the basis of a unique method of analysis of the composition and properties of oils of different origin and heavy fractions thereof.  相似文献

From electron-positron collision data collected with the CLEO detector operating at Cornell Electron Storage Ring near sqrt[s]=10.6 GeV, improved measurements of the branching fractions for tau decays into three explicitly identified hadrons and a neutrino are presented as B(tau(-)-->pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau))=(9.13+/-0.05+/-0.46)%, B(tau(-)-->K-pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau))=(3.84+/-0.14+/-0.38) x 10(-3), B(tau(-)-->K-K+pi(-)nu(tau))=(1.55+/-0.06+/-0.09) x 10(-3), and B(tau(-)-->K-K+K-nu(tau))<3.7 x 10(-5) at 90% C.L., where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.  相似文献

A method to solve ordinary linear differential equations through continued fractions is applied to several physical systems. In particular, results for the Schrödinger equation give a good accuracy for the eigenvalues of bound states in theS-wave Yukawa potential, and the lowest order approximations provide exact-values for the harmonic oscillator and Coulomb potential eigenvalues and eigenfunctions.  相似文献
