Six O-phenyl ketoxime ethers, RR'C=NOPh 1-6, with RR' = diaryl, dialkyl, and arylalkyl, together with N-phenoxybenzimidic acid phenyl ether, PhO(Ph)C=NOPh, 7, have been shown to thermolyze at moderate temperatures with "clean" N-O bond homolyses to yield iminyl and phenoxyl radicals, RR'C=N(*) and PhO(*). Since 1-6 can be synthesized at room temperature, these compounds provide a new and potentially useful source of iminyls for syntheses. The iminyl from 7 undergoes a competition between beta-scission, to PhCN and PhO(*), and cyclization to an oxazole. Rate constants, 10(6) k/s(-1), at 90 degrees C for 1-6 range from 4.2 (RR' = 9-fluorenyl) to 180 (RR' = 9-bicyclononanyl), and that for 7 is 0.61. The estimated activation enthalpies for N-O bond scission are in satisfactory agreement with the results of DFT calculations of N-O bond dissociation enthalpies, BDEs, and represent the first thermochemical data for any reaction yielding iminyl radicals. The small range in k (N-O homolyses) is consistent with the known sigma structure of these radicals, and the variations in k and N-O BDEs with changes in RR' are rationalized in terms of iminyl radical stabilization by hyperconjugation: RR'C=N(*) <--> R(*)R'C[triple bond]N. Calculated N-H BDEs in the corresponding RR'C=NH are also presented.  相似文献

Alkylated hydroxylated aromatics are major constituents of various types of fuels, including biomass and low-rank coal. In this study, thermochemical parameters are obtained for the various isomeric forms of methylbenzenediol isomers in terms of their enthalpies of formation, entropies, and heat capacities. Isodesmic work reactions are used in quantum chemical computations of the reaction enthalpies for O-H and H?C-H bond fissions and the formation of phenoxy- and benzyl-type radicals. A reaction potential energy on the singlet-state surface surface is mapped out for the unimolecular decomposition of the 3-methylbenzene-1,2-diol isomer. According to the calculated high pressure-limit reaction rate constants, concerted hydrogen molecule elimination from the methyl group and the hydroxyl group, in addition to intermolecular H migration from the hydroxyl group, dominates the unimolecular decomposition at low to intermediate temperatures (T ≤ 1200 K). At higher temperatures, O-H bond fission and concerted water elimination are expected to become the sole decomposition pathways.  相似文献

The enthalpies of formation, entropies, specific heats at constant pressure, enthalpy functions, and all carbon-hydrogen and carbon-methyl bond dissociation energies have been computed using high-level methods for the cyclic ethers (oxolanes) tetrahydrofuran, 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, and 2,5-dimethyltetrahydrofuran. Barrier heights for hydrogen-abstraction reactions by hydrogen atoms and the methyl radical are also computed and shown to correlate with reaction energy change. The results show a pleasing consistency and considerably expands the available data for these important compounds. Abstraction by ?H is accompanied by formation of both pre- and postreaction weakly bound complexes. The resulting radicals formed after abstraction undergo ring-opening reactions leading to readily recognizable intermediates, while competitive H-elimination reactions result in formation of dihydrofurans. Formation enthalpies of all 2,3- and 2,5-dihydrofurans and associated radicals are also reported. It is probable that the compounds at the center of this study will be relatively clean-burning biofuels, although formation of intermediate aldehydes might be problematic.  相似文献

For the (aut)oxidation of toluene to benzyl hydroperoxide, benzyl alcohol, benzaldehyde, and benzoic acid, the thermochemical profiles for various radical‐generating reactions have been compared. A key intermediate in all of these reactions is benzyl hydroperoxide, the heat of formation of which has been estimated by using results from CBS‐QB3, G4, and G3B3 calculations. Homolytic O?O bond cleavage in this hydroperoxide is strongly endothermic and thus unlikely to contribute significantly to initiation processes. In terms of reaction enthalpies the most favorable initiation process involves bimolecular reaction of benzyl hydroperoxide to yield hydroxy and benzyloxy radicals along with water and benzaldehyde. The reaction enthalpy and free energy of this process is significantly more favorable than those for the unimolecular dissociation of known radical initiators, such as dibenzoylperoxide or dibenzylhyponitrite.  相似文献

In recognition of the importance of the isobutene oxidation reaction in the preignition chemistry associated with engine knock, the thermochemistry, chemical reaction pathways, and reaction kinetics of the isobutenyl radical oxidation at low to intermediate temperature range were computationally studied, focusing on both the first and the second O2 addition to the isobutenyl radical. The geometries of reactants, important intermediates, transition states, and products in the isobutenyl radical oxidation system were optimized at the B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) and MP2(full)/6-31G(d) levels, and the thermochemical properties were determined on the basis of ab initio, density functional theory, and statistical mechanics. Enthalpies of formation for several important intermediates were calculated using isodesmic reactions at the DFT and the CBS-QB3 levels. The kinetic analysis of the first O2 addition to the isobutenyl radical was performed using enthalpies at the CBS-QB3 and G3(MP2) levels. The reaction forms a chemically activated isobutenyl peroxy adduct which can be stabilized, dissociate back to reactants, cyclize to cyclic peroxide-alkyl radicals, and isomerize to the 2-hydroperoxymethyl-2-propenyl radical that further undergoes another O2 addition. The reaction channels for isomerization and cyclization and further dissociation on this second O2 addition were analyzed using enthalpies at the DFT level with energy corrections based on similar reaction channels for the first O2 addition. The high-pressure limit rate constants for each reaction channel were determined as functions of temperature by the canonical transition state theory for further kinetic model development.  相似文献

Dissociation energies of C–N3 bonds have been determined on the basis of data on the enthalpies of formation for a series of azido nitroaromatic compounds and the enthalpies of formation of radicals. Using fundamental relationships of chemical physics, a procedure has been suggested to calculate the energy of rearrangement of molecule fragments into radicals on the basis of special properties of rearrangement energy and the sums of average thermochemical energies for bonds comprising radical fragment in molecule. This calculation procedure provided a possibility to determine the energy of the N3 moiety transformation into N3 radical and the rearrangement energies of nitroaromatic radicals.  相似文献

Alkyl substituted aromatics are present in fuels and in the environment because they are major intermediates in the oxidation or combustion of gasoline, jet, and other engine fuels. The major reaction pathways for oxidation of this class of molecules is through loss of a benzyl hydrogen atom on the alkyl group via abstraction reactions. One of the major intermediates in the combustion and atmospheric oxidation of the benzyl radicals is benzaldehyde, which rapidly loses the weakly bound aldehydic hydrogen to form a resonance stabilized benzoyl radical (C6H5C(?)═O). A detailed study of the thermochemistry of intermediates and the oxidation reaction paths of the benzoyl radical with dioxygen is presented in this study. Structures and enthalpies of formation for important stable species, intermediate radicals, and transition state structures resulting from the benzoyl radical +O2 association reaction are reported along with reaction paths and barriers. Enthalpies, ΔfH298(0), are calculated using ab initio (G3MP2B3) and density functional (DFT at B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)) calculations, group additivity (GA), and literature data. Bond energies on the benzoyl and benzoyl-peroxy systems are also reported and compared to hydrocarbon systems. The reaction of benzoyl with O2 has a number of low energy reaction channels that are not currently considered in either atmospheric chemistry or combustion models. The reaction paths include exothermic, chain branching reactions to a number of unsaturated oxygenated hydrocarbon intermediates along with formation of CO2. The initial reaction of the C6H5C(?)═O radical with O2 forms a chemically activated benzoyl peroxy radical with 37 kcal mol(-1) internal energy; this is significantly more energy than the 21 kcal mol(-1) involved in the benzyl or allyl + O2 systems. This deeper well results in a number of chemical activation reaction paths, leading to highly exothermic reactions to phenoxy radical + CO2 products.  相似文献

Ketones are a major class of organic chemicals and solvents, which contribute to hydrocarbon sources in the atmosphere, and are important intermediates in the oxidation and combustion of hydrocarbons and biofuels. Their stability, thermochemical properties, and chemical kinetics are important to understanding their reaction paths and their role as intermediates in combustion processes and in atmospheric chemistry. In this study, enthalpies (ΔH°(f 298)), entropies (S°(T)), heat capacities (C(p)°(T)), and internal rotor potentials are reported for 2-butanone, 3-pentanone, 2-pentanone, 3-methyl-2-butanone, and 2-methyl-3-pentanone, and their radicals corresponding to loss of hydrogen atoms. A detailed evaluation of the carbon-hydrogen bond dissociation energies (C-H BDEs) is also performed for the parent ketones for the first time. Standard enthalpies of formation and bond energies are calculated at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p), B3LYP/6-311G(2d,2p), CBS-QB3, and G3MP2B3 levels of theory using isodesmic reactions to minimize calculation errors. Structures, moments of inertia, vibrational frequencies, and internal rotor potentials are calculated at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) density functional level and are used to determine the entropies and heat capacities. The recommended ideal gas-phase ΔH°(f 298), from the average of the CBS-QB3 and G3MP2B3 levels of theory, as well as the calculated values for entropy and heat capacity are shown to compare well with the available experimental data for the parent ketones. Bond energies for primary, secondary, and tertiary radicals are determined; here, we find the C-H BDEs on carbons in the α position to the ketone group decrease significantly with increasing substitution on these α carbons. Group additivity and hydrogen-bond increment values for these ketone radicals are also determined.  相似文献

A comparison of experimental data and results of the rate constant calculations by the method of intersecting parabolas (MIP) showed that abstraction of H atom by a peroxyl radical from the Cα-H bond in hydroperoxide is accompanied by concerted fragmentation of the molecule. The complicated character of the elementary event is due to high exothermicity of the reaction. The kinetic parameters of isomerization with fragmentation of peroxyalkyl, peroxyalkoxyl, and peroxyperoxyl radicals were calculated within the framework of the MIP method. The enthalpies, activation energies, and rate constants for a series of isomerization reactions of peroxyl radicals with concerted fragmentation were also obtained from the MIP calculations. Factors influencing these reactions are analyzed.  相似文献

The reaction enthalpies of aldol, Mannich and ??-aminoxylation reactions were calculated by density functional theory (DFT) using long-range-corrected (LC), hybrid B3LYP and other up-to-date functionals to show why conventional DFT including B3LYP has given poor enthalpies for these reactions. As a result, we found that long-range exchange interactions significantly affect the reaction enthalpies. We therefore proposed that the poor enthalpies of B3LYP are due to its insufficient long-range exchange effect. On the other hand, LC functionals accurately reproduce reaction enthalpies for these reactions. However, we noticed that even LC functionals present poor reaction enthalpies for specific reactions, in which many branches are produced or very small molecules such as methane molecule participate.  相似文献

The reaction mechanism of 1-chloroethane with hydroxyl radical has been inves- tigated by using density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) method. All bond dissociation enthalpies were computed at the same theoretical level. It was found that hydrogen abstraction pathway is the most favorable. There are two hydrogen abstraction pathways with activation barriers of 0.630 and 4.988 kJ/mol, respectively, while chlorine abstraction pathway was not found. It was observed that activation energies have a more reasonable correlation with the reaction enthalpy changes (△Hr) than with bond dissociation enthalpies (BDE).  相似文献

Thermochemical properties of dimethyl tetraoxide (CH(3)OOOOCH(3)), the dimer of the methylperoxy radical, are studied using ab initio and density functional theory methods. Methylperoxy radicals are known to be important intermediates in the tropospheric ozone cycle, and the self-reaction of methylperoxy radicals, which is thought to proceed via dimethyl tetraoxide, leads to significant chain radical termination in this process. Dimethyl tetraoxide has five internal rotors, three of them unique; the potential energy profiles are calculated for these rotors, as well as for those in the CH(3)OO, CH(3)OOO, and CH(3)OOOO radicals. The dimethyl tetraoxide internal rotor profiles show barriers to rotation of 2-8 kcal mol(-1). Using B3LYP/6-31(d) geometries, frequencies, internal rotor potentials, and moments of inertia, we determine entropy and heat capacity values for dimethyl tetraoxide and its radicals. Isodesmic work reactions with the G3B3 and CBS-APNO methods are used; we calculate this enthalpy as -9.8 kcal mol(-1). Bond dissociation energies (BDEs) are calculated for all C-O and O-O bonds in dimethyl tetraoxide, again with the G3B3 and CBS-APNO theoretical methods, and we suggest the following BDEs: 46.0 kcal mol(-1) for CH(3)-OOOOCH(3), 20.0 kcal mol(-1) for CH(3)O-OOOCH(3), and 13.9 kcal mol(-1) for CH(3)OO-OOCH(3). From the BDE calculations and the isodesmic enthalpy of formation for dimethyl tetraoxide, we suggest enthalpies of 2.1, 5.8, and 1.4 kcal mol(-1) for the CH(3)OO, CH(3)OOO, and CH(3)OOOO radicals, respectively. We evaluate the suitability of 10 different density functional theory (DFT) methods for calculating thermochemical properties of dimethyl tetraoxide and its radicals with the 6-31G(d) and 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis sets, using a variety of work reaction schemes. Overall, the best-performed DFT methods of those tested were TPSSh, BMK, and B1B95. Significant improvements in accuracy were made by moving from atomization to isodesmic work reactions, with most DFT methods yielding errors of less than 2 kcal mol(-1) with the 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis set for isodesmic calculations on the dimethyl tetraoxide enthalpy. These isodesmic calculations were basis set consistent, with a considerable reduction in error found by using the 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis set over the 6-31G(d) basis set. This was not the case, however, for atomization and bond dissociation work reactions, where the two basis sets returned similar results. Improved group additivity terms for the O-O-O moiety (O/O2 central atom group) are also determined.  相似文献

The study of the energetics of phenolic compounds has a considerable practical interest since this family of compounds includes numerous synthetic and naturally occurring antioxidants. In this work, density functional theory (DFT) has been used to investigate gas-phase thermochemical properties of the following tri-substituted phenols: 2,4,6-trimethylphenol, 2,6-dimethyl-4-tert-butylphenol, 2,6-dimethyl-4-methoxyphenol, 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol, 2,4,6-trimethoxyphenol, 2,6-dimethoxy-4-methylphenol and 2,6-dimethoxy-4-tert-butylphenol. Molecular structures were computed with the B3LYP and the ωB97X-D functionals and the 6-31G(d) basis set. More accurate energies were obtained from single-point energy calculations with both functionals and the 6-311++G(2df,2pd) basis set. Standard enthalpies of formation of the phenolic molecules and phenoxyl radicals were derived using an appropriate homodesmotic reaction. The OH homolytic bond dissociation enthalpies, gas-phase acidities and adiabatic ionization enthalpies were also calculated. The general good agreement found between the calculated and the few existent experimental gas-phase thermochemical parameters gives confidence to the estimates concerning the phenolic compounds which were not yet experimentally studied.  相似文献

Radical ring closures of 4-isocyanato carbon-centered radicals   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The 2-(2-isocyanatophenyl)ethyl radical was generated from the corresponding bromide with tributyltin and tris(trimethylsilyl)silyl radicals and shown to ring close in the 6-endo-mode to afford 3,4-dihydro-1H-quinolin-2-one as the major product. Cyclization in the 5-exo-mode to produce 2,3-dihydroindole-1-carbaldehyde, after hydrogen abstraction, was a minor reaction. Rate constants for the two processes were estimated and compared with reaction enthalpies computed by the DFT method.  相似文献

The enthalpies, activation energies, and rate constants for the reactions of 15 phenoxyl radicals derived from natural bioantioxidants with hydroperoxides, C-H bonds of linoleic acid, SH-groups of l-cysteine, and O-H bonds of α-tocopherol (60 reactions) were calculated. The activation energies were calculated using the model of intersecting parabolas. The interatomic distances in the reaction sites of the transition states of the studied reactions were calculated. The factors affecting the reactivity of these radicals are discussed. The activation energy of the reaction of oxygen with the O-H bond of the 1,2-dihydroxybenezene semiquinone radical was estimated.  相似文献

Trifluoromethylation reactions are important transformations in the research and development of drugs, agrochemicals and functional materials. An oxidation/reduction process of trifluoromethyl-containing compounds is thought to be involved in many recently tested catalytic trifluoromethylation reactions. To provide helpful physical chemical data for mechanistic studies on trifluoromethylation reactions, the redox potentials of a variety of trifluoromethyl-containing compounds and trifluoromethylated radicals were studied by quantum-chemical methods. First, wB97X-D was found to be a reliable method in predicting the ionization potentials, electron affinities, bond dissociation enthalpies and redox potentials of trifluoromethyl-containing compounds. One-electron absolute redox potentials of 79 trifluoromethyl substrates and 107 trifluoromethylated radicals in acetonitrile were then calculated with this method. The theoretical results were found to be helpful for interpreting experimental observations such as the relative reaction efficiency of different trifluoromethylation reagents. Finally, the bond dissociation free energies (BDFE) of various compounds were found to have a good linear relationship with the related bond dissociation enthalpies (BDE). Based on this observation, a convenient method was proposed to predict one-electron redox potentials of neutral molecules.  相似文献

The enthalpies of the addition of 11 alkyl radicals to ortho-and para-benzoquinones and substituted para-benzoquinones and the enthalpies of formation of various alkoxyphenoxyl radicals have been calculated. Experimental data for the addition of alkyl radicals to quinones are analyzed in terms of the intersection of two parabolic potential curves, and parameters characterizing this class of reactions are calculated. The classical potential barrier of the thermally neutral reaction of alkyl radical addition to benzoquinone is E e,0 = 82.1 kJ/mol. This class of reactions is compared to other classes of free-radical addition reactions. The interaction between the electrons of the reaction center and the π electrons of the aromatic ring is a significant factor in the activation energy. Activation energies, rate constants, and the geometric parameters of the transition state have been calculated for 40 reactions of alkyl radical addition to quinones. Strong polar interaction has been revealed in the addition of polar macroradicals to quinones, and its contribution to the activation energy has been estimated. Kinetic parameters, activation energies, and rate constants have been calculated for the reverse reactions of alkoxyphenoxyl radical decomposition to quinone and alkyl. The competition between chain termination and propagation reactions in alkoxyphenol-inhibited hydrocarbon oxidation is discussed.  相似文献

The gas phase enthalpies of formation of mono-, di-, tri-, tetranitromethane and nitroethane, as well as of their nitrite and aci-form isomers were calculated using different multilevel (G2, G3, G2M(CC5)) and density functional theory (DFT)-based (B3LYP, MPW1B95 and MPWB1K) techniques. The enthalpies of the C-N bond dissociation and isomerization of these nitroalkanes were also calculated. The calculated values of the formation and reaction enthalpies were compared with the experimental data when these data were available. It was found that only the G3 procedure gave accurate (within 1 kcal/mol) results for the formation enthalpy of nitroalkanes, their isomers, and radical products. The G3 procedure and two new hybrid meta DFT methods proposed by Truhlar's group (Zhao, Y.; Truhlar, D. J. Phys. Chem. A 2004, 108, 6908) showed good results for the reaction enthalpies of the nitromethane isomerization and the C-N bond dissociation. Our calculation results were used to analyze thermodynamics of the dissociation and isomerization reactions of the poly nitro-substituted methanes.  相似文献

Density functional theory(DFT)at B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level was employed to calculate intramolecular hydrogen bond enthalpies (H1HB),O-H charge differencces,O-H bond lengths and bond orders for various substituted catechols and their radicals generated after H-abstraction.It was found that although the charge difference between hydrogen-bonded H and O played a role in determining H1HB,H1HB was mainly governed by the hydrogen bond length. As the oxygen-centedred radiocal has great tendency to form a chemical bond with the H atom, hydrogen bond lengths in catechloic radicals are systematically shorter than those in catechlos, hence, the H1HB for the former are higher than those for the latter.  相似文献

The C—H bond dissociation energies were calculated on the basis of the parabolic model from the rate constants of free radical reactions for more than 160 oxygen-containing compounds. The enthalpies of formation of free radicals formed from these compounds were calculated. The method was modified taking into account the influence of functional groups on the partial rate constant and for the case when the reference reaction in the reaction series belongs to another class of structurally similar reactions.  相似文献
