首先用密度泛函理论(DFT)方法研究了铀酰和钚酰离子的几何与电子结构,计算结果与实验基本符合,表明DFT方法也能用于含铀和钚重原子的化合物计算.然后对铀酰和钚酰水合离子的几何构型、Mulliken集居数分布以及铀酰(钚酰)与配体水分子的结合能进行计算,计算结果表明UO22+·5H2O和PuO22+·5H2O分别为铀酰和钚酰系列水合离子中最稳定的配合物.  相似文献

The electronic structure and properties of PuO2 and Pu2O3 have been studied from first principles by the all-electron projector-augmented-wave method. The local density approximation+U and the generalized gradient approximation+U formalisms have been used to account for the strong on-site Coulomb repulsion among the localized Pu 5f electrons. We discuss how the properties of PuO2 and Pu2O3 are affected by the choice of U as well as the choice of exchange-correlation potential. Also, oxidation reaction of Pu2O3, leading to formation of PuO2, and its dependence on U and exchange-correlation potential have been studied. Our results show that by choosing an appropriate U, it is promising to correctly and consistently describe structural, electronic, and thermodynamic properties of PuO2 and Pu2O3, which enable the modeling of redox process involving Pu-based materials possible.  相似文献

The Pu(VI) molecular complex, [PuO(2)Cl(2)(thf)(2)]2, is prepared by addition of a HCl/Et(2)O solution to a suspension of PuO(2)CO(3) in thf, yielding the first example of a precursor suitable for investigation of the non-aqueous chemistry of the plutonyl dioxo cation under inert atmospheric conditions.  相似文献

从导出基态PuO2分子的电子状态X5Σ g正确地判断其离解极限出发,采用MP2方法,应用相对论有效原子实模型(RECP)优化出PuO2(X5Σ g)分子稳定构型为线性OPuO(D∞h),其平衡核间距Re=0.18004nm.同时也计算出振动频率,并优化出存在亚稳态的Pu-O-O(C∞v)构型.使用多体项展式理论方法,导出了基态PuO2分子的分析势能函数.该势能表面准确地再现了O-Pu-O(D∞h)平衡结构和亚稳态的Pu-O-O(C∞v)构型.然后根据势能函数等值图讨论了O(3Pg) PuO反应的势能面静态特征.  相似文献

Reactions of atomic and ligated dipositive actinide ions, An2+, AnO2+, AnOH2+, and AnO2(2+) (An = Th, U, Np, Pu, Am) were systematically studied by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Kinetics were measured for reactions with the oxidants, N2O, C2H4O (ethylene oxide), H2O, O2, CO2, NO, and CH2O. Each of the five An2+ ions reacted with one or more of these oxidants to produce AnO2+, and reacted with H2O to produce AnOH2+. The measured pseudo-first-order reaction rate constants, k, revealed disparate reaction efficiencies, k/k(COL): Th2+ was generally the most reactive and Am2+ the least. Whereas each oxidant reacted with Th2+ to give ThO2+, only C2H4O oxidized Am2+ to AmO2+. The other An2+ exhibited intermediate reactivities. Based on the oxidation reactions, bond energies and formation enthalpies were derived for the AnO2+, as were second ionization energies for the monoxides, IE[AnO+]. The bare dipositive actinyl ions, UO2(2+), NpO2(2+), and PuO2(2+), were produced from the oxidation of the corresponding AnO2+ by N2O, and by O2 in the cases of UO2+ and NpO2+. Thermodynamic properties were derived for these three actinyls, including enthalpies of formation and electron affinities. It is concluded that bare UO2(2+), NpO2(2+), and PuO2(2+) are thermodynamically stable toward Coulomb dissociation to [AnO+ + O+] or [An+ + O2+]. It is predicted that bare AmO2(2+) is thermodynamically stable. In accord with the expected instability of Th(VI), ThO(2+) was not oxidized to ThO2(2+) by any of the seven oxidants. The gas-phase results are compared with the aqueous thermochemistry. Hydration enthalpies were derived here for uranyl and plutonyl; our deltaH(hyd)[UO2(2+)] is substantially more negative than the previously reported value, but is essentially the same as our deltaH(hyd)[PuO2(2+)].  相似文献

The first ionization potential of the PuO2 molecule was for a long time considered to be 4-5 eV higher than that of UO2. This feature could hardly be explained by the most advanced "ab initio" calculations, which, on the other hand, provide satisfactory results for other actinide oxides. From recent experiments, performed with different techniques, a lower ionization potential of approximately 7 eV was measured, in better agreement with the theoretical predictions. Our recent experiments, where thermally produced ions were measured, make it possible to formulate an accurate relation between the ionization potential of PuO2 and that of PuO: I0(PuO2) = I0(PuO) + 0.42 +/- 0.005 eV. The present uncertainty of I0(PuO) leads to the final assessment, 6.2 < or = I0(PuO2) < or = 6.6 eV, whereby the upper limit is more in line with the aforementioned recent measurements. Considering the still existing uncertainties, one can conclude that these results remove major doubts on the validity of the current theoretical predictions. However, the very small ionization cross section of PuO2 by low-energy electron collisions, which led to the previous spurious assessment of the ion appearance potential, has still an unexplained cause.  相似文献

Using a set of model reactions, we estimated the heat of formation of gaseous PuO2(2+) from quantum-chemical reaction enthalpies and experimental heats of formation of reference species. To this end, we carried out relativistic density functional calculations on the molecules PuO(2)2+, PuO2, PuF6, and PuF4. We used a revised variant (PBEN) of the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof gradient-corrected exchange-correlation functional, and we accounted for spin-orbit interaction in a self-consistent fashion. As open-shell Pu species with two or more unpaired 5f electrons are involved, spin-orbit interaction significantly affects the energies of the model reactions. Our theoretical estimate for the heat of formation DeltafH degree 0(PuO2(2+),g), 418+/-15 kcal mol-1, evaluated using plutonium fluorides as references, is in good agreement with a recent experimental result, 413+/-16 kcal mol-1. The theoretical value connected to the experimental heat of formation of PuO2(g) has a notably higher uncertainty and therefore was not included in the final result.  相似文献

The structural properties of several plutonium(IV) and (VI) complexes have been examined in the gaseous and aqueous phases using Kohn-Sham density functional theory calculations with scalar relativistic effective core potentials and the polarizable continuum solvation model. The aquo and nitrate complexes of PuO(2)(2+) and Pu(4+) were considered in addition to the aquo-chloro complexes of PuO(2)(2+). The nitrate and chloro- complexes formed with triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO) and tributylphosphate (TBP) respectively were also studied. The structural parameters of the plutonyl complexes were compared to their uranyl and neptunyl analogues. The bond lengths and vibrational frequencies of the plutonyl complexes can generally be computed with sufficient accuracy with the pure PBE density functional with shorter bond lengths being predicted by the B3LYP functional. The structural parameters of the [PuO(2)Cl(2)L(2)] systems formed with TPPO and TBP as well as the aqueous [PuO(2)Cl(2)(H(2)O)(3)] complex are matched to previous experimental results. Overall, the inclusion of ligands in the equatorial region results in significant changes in the stretching frequency of the plutonyl group. The structural features of the plutonyl (VI) systems are rather similar to those of their 5f(0) uranyl and 5f(1) neptunyl counterparts. For the Pu(IV) aquo and nitrate complexes, the average of the calculated Pu-OH(2) and Pu-O(nitrate) bond lengths are generally within 0.04 ? of the reported experimental values. Overall Kohn-Sham DFT can be used successfully in predicting the structures of this diverse set of Pu(VI) and Pu(IV) complexes.  相似文献

The plutonyl(VI) dinitrate complex [PuO(2)(NO(3))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O (1) has been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopically characterized by solid-state vis-NIR and Raman spectroscopies. Aqueous solution spectroscopic studies indicate only weak plutonyl(VI) nitrate complexation, with the mononitrate complex dominating and negligible dinitrate formation, even in concentrated nitric acid.  相似文献

An emission spectrographic method for the estimation of rare-earth impurities in plutonium oxide and the mixed oxide (U,Pu)O(2) (30% PuO(2)-70% UO(2)) has been developed. Rare-earth impurities are separated from the matrix by solvent extraction with tri-n-octylamine in xylene and are estimated after concentration. Thulium is used as internal standard and LiF-AgCl as carrier. The spectra are excited in a d.c. arc. The detection limits lie in the range 0.004-0.1 mug and the coefficient of variation ranges from 5 to 23%.  相似文献

Two neptunyl(VI) iodates, NpO(2)(IO(3))(2)(H(2)O) (1) and NpO(2)(IO(3))(2).H(2)O (2), have been prepared from the aqueous reactions of Np(V) in HCl with KIO(4) or H(5)IO(6) at 180 degrees C and have been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Both compounds consist of two-dimensional arrangements of pentagonal bipyramidal [NpO(7)] polyhedra with axial neptunyl, NpO(2)(2+), dioxocations. In 1, the neptunium centers are bound in the equatorial plane by four bridging iodate anions and one terminal water molecule. The iodate anions link the [NpO(7)] units into corrugated sheets that interact with one another through intermolecular IO(3)(-)...IO(3)(-) interactions as also observed in UO(2)(IO(3))(2)(H(2)O). Compound 2 is isostructural with the recently reported PuO(2)(IO(3))(2).H(2)O, where oxygen atoms from bridging iodate anions occupy the five equatorial sites around the neptunyl moieties. The iodate anions occur as both mu(2)- and mu(3)-units and link the neptunyl polyhedra into sheets. Both types of iodate anions have their stereochemically active lone-pair of electrons aligned on one side of each layer creating a polar structure. Raman spectra of 1, UO(2)(IO(3))(2)(H(2)O), and PuO(2)(IO(3))(2).H(2)O show a sequential shift of the nu(1)(AnO(2)(2+)) stretch to lower wavenumber as the atomic number of the actinide is increased. A significant fraction of plutonium that is soluble in environmental waters and other aqueous solutions can be present as complexes of plutonyl, PuO2(2+). Few thermodynamic data are available for this ion, representing a problematic gap in plutonium chemistry and in the forecasting of radionuclide behavior under contamination and nuclear repository conditions. To address this need and more accurately determine the stoichiometry and stability of the basic hydrolytic products, we completed complimentary potentiometric and spectrophotometric studies of plutonium(VI) hydrolysis over the concentration range of 10(-2) to 10(-5) M Pu(VI). Dinuclear hydroxide species (PuO2)2(OH)2(2+) and (PuO2)2(OH)4(0)(aq) with hydrolysis constants log beta(2,2) = -7.79 +/- 0.20 and log beta(4,2) = -19.3 +/- 0.5 are indicated in all experiments of millimolar Pu(VI), 0.10 M NaNO3 solutions at 25 degrees C. At lower Pu(VI) concentrations, at and below 10(-4) M, the monomeric species PuO2OH+ and PuO2(OH)2(0)(aq) form with hydrolysis constants of log beta(1,1) = -5.76 +/- 0.07 and log beta(2,1) = -11.69 +/- 0.05, respectively. Distinct optical absorbance bands at 842 and 845 nm are reported for the mononuclear and dinuclear first hydrolysis species. Standard hydrolysis constants at zero ionic strength were calculated from the experimentally determined constants using the specific ion interaction theory. The Pu(VI) hydrolysis species and constants are compared with results from previous studies for plutonium and uranium. Major differences between uranyl and plutonyl hydrolysis are described.  相似文献

Analysis of X-ray absorption fine structure spectra of UO(2+x) for x = 0-0.20 (UO(2)--U(4)O(9)) reveals that the adventitious O atoms are incorporated as oxo groups with U--O distances of 1.74 A, most likely associated with U(VI), that occur in clusters so that the UO(2) fraction of the material largely remains intact. In addition to the formation of some additional longer U--O bonds, the U sublattice consists of an ordered portion that displays the original U--U distance and a spectroscopically silent, glassy part. This is very different from previous models derived from neutron diffraction that maintained long U--O distances and high U--O coordination numbers. UO(2+x) also differs from PuO(2+x) in its substantially shorter An-oxo distances and no sign of stable coordination with H(2)O and its hydrolysis products.  相似文献

We report the first example of photoluminescence from electronically excited states of the plutonyl ion. Discrete emission transitions were measured between 6000 and 10,200 cm(-1) from crystalline Cs2U(Pu)O2Cl4 cooled to 75 K following pulsed laser excitation at 628 nm. An excitation spectrum in the region of 15,000-16,500 cm(-1) is compared with 4.2 K plane-polarized absorption spectra reported by Gorshkov and Mashirov. Analysis of excited-state lifetime data suggests multiple relaxation pathways in the electronic structure of PuO2Cl4(2-).  相似文献

Three kinds of Relativistic Effective Core Potentials (RECP) with B3LYP, MP2 and HF methods have been used to work out the structures for the ground state of PuO molecule, whose equilibrium nuclear distances, disassociation energies, spectral constants and harmonic frequencies have been obtained. The ab initio energy data of PuO have been least-square-fitted to the Murrell-Sorbie potential energy function, from which the corresponding spectral constants, the second, third and forth forcec on stants have been derived. The results indicate that SDDRECP with B3LYP method could give the best calculations in agreement with the experimental results. The charge populations, spindensities and dipole moments of PuO molecule to the different RECP sand calculation levels have also been tabled out.  相似文献

Extensive ab initio calculations both in gas phase and solution have been carried out to study the equilibrium structure, vibrational frequencies, and bonding characteristics of various actinyl (UO2(2+), NpO2(+), and PuO2(2+)) and their hydrated forms, AnO2(H2O)n(z+) (n=4, 5, and 6). Bulk solvent effects were studied using a continuum method. The geometries were fully optimized at the coupled-cluster singles + doubles (CCSD), density-functional theory (DFT), and M?ller-Plesset (MP2) level of theories. In addition vibrational frequencies have been obtained at the CCSD as well as MP2/DFT levels. The results show that both the short-range and long-range solvent effects are important. The combined discrete-continuum model, in which the ionic solute and the solvent molecules in the first and second solvation shells are treated quantum mechanically while the solvent is simulated by a continuum model, can predict accurately the bonding characteristics. Moreover, our values of solvation free energies suggest that five- and six-coordinations are equally preferred for UO2(2+), and five-coordinated species are preferred for NpO2(+) and PuO2(2+). On the basis of combined quantum-chemical and continuum treatments of the hydrated complexes, we are able to determine the optimal cavity radii for the solvation models. The coupled-cluster computations with large basis sets were employed for the vibrational spectra and equilibrium geometries both of which compare quite favorably with experiment. Our most accurate computations reveal that both five- and six-coordination complexes are important for these species.  相似文献
