Multiplicative programming problems (MPPs) are global optimization problems known to be NP-hard. In this paper, we employ algorithms developed to compute the entire set of nondominated points of multi-objective linear programmes (MOLPs) to solve linear MPPs. First, we improve our own objective space cut and bound algorithm for convex MPPs in the special case of linear MPPs by only solving one linear programme in each iteration, instead of two as the previous version indicates. We call this algorithm, which is based on Benson’s outer approximation algorithm for MOLPs, the primal objective space algorithm. Then, based on the dual variant of Benson’s algorithm, we propose a dual objective space algorithm for solving linear MPPs. The dual algorithm also requires solving only one linear programme in each iteration. We prove the correctness of the dual algorithm and use computational experiments comparing our algorithms to a recent global optimization algorithm for linear MPPs from the literature as well as two general global optimization solvers to demonstrate the superiority of the new algorithms in terms of computation time. Thus, we demonstrate that the use of multi-objective optimization techniques can be beneficial to solve difficult single objective global optimization problems.  相似文献

In multi-objective convex optimization it is necessary to compute an infinite set of nondominated points. We propose a method for approximating the nondominated set of a multi-objective nonlinear programming problem, where the objective functions and the feasible set are convex. This method is an extension of Benson’s outer approximation algorithm for multi-objective linear programming problems. We prove that this method provides a set of weakly ε-nondominated points. For the case that the objectives and constraints are differentiable, we describe an efficient way to carry out the main step of the algorithm, the construction of a hyperplane separating an exterior point from the feasible set in objective space. We provide examples that show that this cannot always be done in the same way in the case of non-differentiable objectives or constraints.  相似文献

This article presents for the first time an algorithm specifically designed for globally minimizing a finite, convex function over the weakly efficient set of a multiple objective nonlinear programming problem (V1) that has both nonlinear objective functions and a convex, nonpolyhedral feasible region. The algorithm uses a branch and bound search in the outcome space of problem (V1), rather than in the decision space of the problem, to find a global optimal solution. Since the dimension of the outcome space is usually much smaller than the dimension of the decision space, often by one or more orders of magnitude, this approach can be expected to considerably shorten the search. In addition, the algorithm can be easily modified to obtain an approximate global optimal weakly efficient solution after a finite number of iterations. Furthermore, all of the subproblems that the algorithm must solve can be easily solved, since they are all convex programming problems. The key, and sometimes quite interesting, convergence properties of the algorithm are proven, and an example problem is solved.  相似文献

This paper discusses an algorithm for generalized convex multiplicative programming problems, a special class of nonconvex minimization problems in which the objective function is expressed as a sum ofp products of two convex functions. It is shown that this problem can be reduced to a concave minimization problem with only 2p variables. An outer approximation algorithm is proposed for solving the resulting problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a method of centers for solving multi-objective programming problems, where the objective functions involved are concave functions and the set of feasible points is convex. The algorithm is defined so that the sub-problems that must be solved during its execution may be solved by finite-step procedures. Conditions are given under which the algorithm generates sequences of feasible points and constraint multiplier vectors that have accumulation points satisfying the KKT conditions. Finally, we establish convergence of the proposed method of centers algorithm for solving multiobjective programming problems.  相似文献

In this paper, by solving the relaxed quasiconcave programming problem in outcome space, a new global optimization algorithm for convex multiplicative programming is presented. Two kinds of techniques are employed to establish the algorithm. The first one is outer approximation technique which is applied to shrink relaxation area of quasiconcave programming problem and to compute appropriate feasible points and to raise the capacity of bounding. And the other one is branch and bound technique which is used to guarantee global optimization. Some numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

Solving multi-objective problems requires the evaluation of two or more conflicting objective functions, which often demands a high amount of computational power. This demand increases rapidly when estimating values for objective functions of dynamic, stochastic problems, since a number of observations are needed for each evaluation set, of which there could be many. Computer simulation applications of real-world optimisations often suffer due to this phenomenon. Evolutionary algorithms are often applied to multi-objective problems. In this article, the cross-entropy method is proposed as an alternative, since it has been proven to converge quickly in the case of single-objective optimisation problems. We adapted the basic cross-entropy method for multi-objective optimisation and applied the proposed algorithm to known test problems. This was followed by an application to a dynamic, stochastic problem where a computer simulation model provides the objective function set. The results show that acceptable results can be obtained while doing relatively few evaluations.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Optimization over the efficient set of a multi-objective optimization problem is a mathematical model for the problem of selecting a most preferred solution that arises in multiple criteria decision-making to account for trade-offs between objectives within the set of efficient solutions. In this paper, we consider a particular case of this problem, namely that of optimizing a linear function over the image of the efficient set in objective space of a convex multi-objective optimization problem. We present both primal and dual algorithms for this task. The algorithms are based on recent algorithms for solving convex multi-objective optimization problems in objective space with suitable modifications to exploit specific properties of the problem of optimization over the efficient set. We first present the algorithms for the case that the underlying problem is a multi-objective linear programme. We then extend them to be able to solve problems with an underlying convex multi-objective optimization problem. We compare the new algorithms with several state of the art algorithms from the literature on a set of randomly generated instances to demonstrate that they are considerably faster than the competitors.  相似文献

Branch and bound approaches for nonconvex programming problems had been given in [1] and [4]. Crucial for both are the use of rectangular partitions, convex envelopes and separable nonconvex portions of the objective function and constraints. We want to propose a similar algorithm which solves a sequence of problems in each of which the objective function is convex or even linear. The main difference between this approach and previous approaches is the use of general compact partitions instead of rectangular ones and a different refining rule such that the algorithm does not rely on the concept of convex envelopes and handles non-separable functions.First we describe a general algorithm and prove a convergence theorem under suitable regularity assumptions. Then we give as example an algorithm for concave minimization problems.  相似文献

The UTAs (UTilité Additives) type methods for constructing nondecreasing additive utility functions were first proposed by Jacquet-Lagrèze and Siskos in 1982 for handling decision problems of multicriteria ranking. In this article, by UTA functions, we mean functions which are constructed by the UTA type methods. Our purpose is to propose an algorithm for globally maximizing UTA functions of a class of linear/convex multiple objective programming problems. The algorithm is established based on a branch and bound scheme, in which the branching procedure is performed by a so-called I-rectangular bisection in the objective (outcome) space, and the bounding procedure by some convex or linear programs. Preliminary computational experiments show that this algorithm can work well for the case where the number of objective functions in the multiple objective optimization problem under consideration is much smaller than the number of variables.  相似文献

We use normal directions of the outcome set to develop a method of outer approximation for solving generalized convex multiobjective programming problems. We prove the convergence of the method and report some computational experiments. As an application, we obtain an algorithm to solve an associated multiplicative problem over a convex constraint set.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on approximating convex compact bodies. For a convex body described as the feasible set in objective space of a multiple objective programme, we show that finding it is equivalent to finding the non-dominated set of a multiple objective programme. This equivalence implies that convex bodies can be approximated using multiple objective optimization algorithms. Therefore, we propose a revised outer approximation algorithm for convex multiple objective programming problems to approximate convex bodies. Finally, we apply the algorithm to solve reachable sets of control systems and use numerical examples to show the effectiveness of the algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for the solution of multiparametric mixed integer linear programming (mp-MILP) problems that exhibit uncertain objective function coefficients and uncertain entries in the right-hand side constraint vector. The algorithmic procedure employs a branch and bound strategy that involves the solution of a multiparametric linear programming sub-problem at leaf nodes and appropriate comparison procedures to update the tree. McCormick relaxation procedures are employed to overcome the presence of bilinear terms in the model. The algorithm generates an envelope of parametric profiles, containing the optimal solution of the mp-MILP problem. The parameter space is partitioned into polyhedral convex critical regions. Two examples are presented to illustrate the steps of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper, the decision problem with multi-objectives is considered, and the nondominated solutions associated with a polyhedral domination cone are discussed. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the solutions are given in the decision space rather than the objective space. The similarity of the solution conditions obtained in this article to the Kuhn-Tucker condition of a convex programming problem is examined. As an application of the solution condition, an algorithm to locate the set of all nondominated solutions is shown for the linear multi-objective decision problem. The author would like to thank the reviewer for his helpful comments.  相似文献

We show the importance of exploiting the complementary convex structure for efficiently solving a wide class of specially structured nonconvex global optimization problems. Roughly speaking, a specific feature of these problems is that their nonconvex nucleus can be transformed into a complementary convex structure which can then be shifted to a subspace of much lower dimension than the original underlying space. This approach leads to quite efficient algorithms for many problems of practical interest, including linear and convex multiplicative programming problems, concave minimization problems with few nonlinear variables, bilevel linear optimization problems, etc...  相似文献

The problem of minimizing a convex function over the difference of two convex sets is called ‘reverse convex program’. This is a typical problem in global optimization, in which local optima are in general different from global optima. Another typical example in global optimization is the optimization problem over the efficient set of a multiple criteria programming problem. In this article, we investigate some special cases of optimization problems over the efficient set, which can be transformed equivalently into reverse convex programs in the space of so-called extreme criteria of multiple criteria programming problems under consideration. A suitable algorithm of branch and bound type is then established for globally solving resulting problems. Preliminary computational results with the proposed algorithm are reported.  相似文献

In this paper we present a new framework for identifying preferred solutions to multi-objective binary optimisation problems. We develop the necessary theory which leads to new formulations that integrate the decision space with the space of criterion weights. The advantage of this is that it allows for incorporating preferences directly within a unique binary optimisation problem which identifies efficient solutions and associated weights simultaneously. We discuss how preferences can be incorporated within the formulations and also describe how to accommodate the selection of weights when the identification of a unique solution is required. Our results can be used for designing interactive procedures for the solution of multi-objective binary optimisation problems. We describe one such procedure for the multi-objective multi-dimensional binary knapsack formulation of the portfolio selection problem.  相似文献

While there have been many adaptations of some of the more popular meta-heuristics for continuous multi-objective optimisation problems, Tabu Search has received relatively little attention, despite its suitability and effectiveness on a number of real-world design optimisation problems. In this paper we present an adaptation of a single-objective Tabu Search algorithm for multiple objectives. Further, inspired by path relinking strategies common in discrete optimisation problems, we enhance our algorithm to allow it to handle problems with large numbers of design variables. This is achieved by a novel parameter selection strategy that, unlike a full parametric analysis, avoids the use of objective function evaluations, thus keeping the overall computational cost of the procedure to a minimum. We assess the performance of our two Tabu Search variants on a range of standard test functions and compare it to a leading multi-objective Genetic Algorithm, NSGA-II. The path relinking-inspired parameter selection scheme gives a clear performance improvement over the basic multi-objective Tabu Search adaptation and both variants perform comparably with the NSGA-II.  相似文献
