Efficient synthesis of pyrimidinone derivatives by ytterbium chloride catalyzed Biginelli-type reaction under solvent-free conditions

An efficient and clean method was developed for the one-pot synthesis of pyrimidinones by ytterbium chloride catalyzed Biginelli-type reaction of aromatic aldehyde, cyclopentanone, and urea or thiourea under solvent-free conditions.     

Highly efficient synthesis of N-confused meso-tetraspirocyclohexyl calix[4]pyrrole using Brønsted acidic ionic liquids as catalysts

An efficient, green and novel protocol is described for high yield synthesis of N-confused meso-tetraspirocyclohexyl calix[4]pyrrole. In aqueous solution, the condensation of pyrrole and cyclohexanone in the presence of Brønsted acidic ionic liquid catalysts afforded N-confused calix[4]pyrrole in up to 62.5% yield which represents a ∼threefold yield improvement over existing protocol and makes significant quantity of N-confused calix[4]pyrrole readily available.     

Efficient and green synthesis of 4H-pyrans and 4H-pyrano[2,3-c] pyrazoles catalyzed by task-specific ionic liquid [bmim]OH under solvent-free conditions

Abstract

A facile and convenient procedure for the synthesis of 4H-pyrans from aldehydes, malononitrile, and ethyl acetoacetate/acetylacetone and also synthesis of 4H-pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazoles from three-component condensation of aldehydes, malononitrile, and pyrazolone or four-component condensation of aldehydes, malononitrile, ethyl acetoacetate, and hydrazine monohydrate using [bmim]OH as task-specific ionic liquid has been described. The protocol proves to be efficient and environmentally benign in terms of high yields, low reaction times, ease of recovery, and reusability of reaction medium.

     

A mild and efficient method for preparation of azides from alcohols using acidic ionic liquid [H-NMP]HSO4

We report here an efficient method for the synthesis and characterization of [H-NMP]HSO₄ and its application as an efficient catalyst and solvent for preparation of azides from corresponding alcohols under mild conditions. This processor showed high chemoselectivity for conversion of various alcohols to their corresponding azides.     

[Bmim]BF4 ionic liquid: a novel reaction medium for the synthesis of β-amino alcohols

Epoxides undergo smooth ring-opening with aryl amines in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim]BF₄) or 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF₆) ionic liquids under mild and neutral conditions to afford the corresponding β-amino alcohols in excellent yields with high regioselectivity.     

Use of SO3H-functionalized halogenfree ionic liquid ([MIM(CH2)4SO3H] [HSO4]) as efficient promoter for the synthesis of structurally diverse spiroheterocycles

Structurally diverse spiroheterocycles with fused systems incorporating medicinally privileged systems have been synthesized by an efficient and convenient synthetic method involving four component domino reaction of 2-aminobenzothiazoles with isatin and cyclic β-diketones using SO₃H-functionlized halogenfree ionic liquid ([MIM(CH₂)₄SO₃H][HSO₄]) in aqueous medium.     

Microwave promoted diastereoselective synthesis of dihydroindeno[1,2-b]furans via one-pot three-component reaction in solvent-free conditions

An efficient method was developed for the synthesis of fused dihydroindeno[1,2-b]furans. One-pot three-component reaction of 1,3-indanedione, aromatic aldehyde and pyridinium ylide in the presence of triethylamine under microwave-irradiation in solvent-free conditions afforded dihydroindeno[1,2-b]furans in a diastereoselective manner in excellent yields.     

Brønsted acidic ionic liquid as an efficient and reusable catalyst for one-pot synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl 2-naphthols under solvent-free conditions

A mild and efficient method has been developed for the preparation of amidoalkyl naphthols from condensation of aldehydes with amides or urea and 2-naphthol in the presence of a catalytic amount of Brønsted acidic ionic liquid ([TEBSA][HSO₄]) under thermal solvent-free conditions. High yields, short reaction time, easy work-up and reusability of the catalyst are advantages of this procedure.     

[Bmim]PF6 and BF4 ionic liquids as novel and recyclable reaction media for aromatic amination

Activated aryl halides undergo smooth nucleophilic substitution reactions with secondary amines in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF₆) or 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim]BF₄) ionic liquids (ILs) at room temperature to afford the corresponding arylamines in excellent yields under mild and neutral conditions.     

BrΦnsted酸性离子液体[HSO3-bpy][HSO4]催化合成β-吲哚酮

以BrΦnsted酸性离子液体[HSO3-bpy][HSO4]为催化剂, 将吲哚或取代吲哚与α,β-不饱和酮在乙腈中于80 ℃下反应3 h, 以92%～98%的产率制备了一系列的β-吲哚酮. 该方法简便易行且产率高. 催化剂离子液体对环境友好, 并可循环使用.     

Alkylation of toluene with 1,3-pentadiene catalyzed by [bupy]BF4-AlCl3 and [bupy]BF4-FeCl3 ionic liquids

A new application of ionic liquids is developed for a novel process of synthesizing pentyltoluene from toluene and a C5 diolefin (1,3-pentadiene). The catalyst [bupy]BF₄-AlCl₃ behaves better than [bupy]BF₄-FeCl₃.     

Br?nsted-acidic ionic liquid [HO3S(CH2)4MIM][HSO4] as efficient and reusable catalyst for one-pot synthesis of β-acetamido ketones

Abstract  

Efficient and convenient synthesis of β-acetamido ketones has been achieved by one-pot reaction of acetophenone, aryl aldehydes, acetyl chloride, and acetonitrile in the presence of 3-methyl-1-(4-sulfonylbutyl)imidazolium hydrogensulfate [HO₃S(CH₂)₄MIM][HSO₄], a Br?nsted-acidic ionic liquid, as a green and reusable catalyst in solvent-free media at room temperature. The catalyst could be recycled and reused without noticeable decrease in catalytic activity.     

Efficient method for the synthesis of 3-arylbenzoquinoline,pyranoquinoline, and thiopyranoquinoline derivatives using PEG1000-based dicationic acidic ionic liquid as recyclable catalyst via a one-pot multicomponent reaction

A series of 3-arylbenzoquinoline, pyranoquinoline, and thiopyranoquinoline derivatives have been synthesized by one-pot, multicomponent reaction of aromatic aldehyde, naphthalen-2-amine, and ketone using polyethylene glycol (PEG₁₀₀₀)–based dicationic acidic ionic liquid as recyclable catalyst with high yields. The PEG ionic liquid and toluene have the advantages of both homogeneous and heterogeneous phases at different temperatures (biphasic conditions at lower temperatures and monophasic at higher temperatures) with the ease of product as well as catalyst separation. Recycling studies have shown that the ionic liquid can be readily recovered and reused several times without significant loss of activity.     

Imino Diels-Alder reactions: an efficient one-pot synthesis of pyrano and furanoquinoline derivatives catalyzed by SbCl3

Antimony trichloride (SbCl₃) was found to be an efficient catalyst for the inverse electron demand imino Diels-Alder reactions of in situ generated N-benzylidenes with 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran and 2,3-dihydrofuran to afford pyrano and furano[3,2-c]quinolines in excellent yields.     

Microwave-accelerated Claisen rearrangement in bicyclic imidazolium [b-3C-im][NTf2] ionic liquid

With microwaves, a chemically stable ionic liquid [b-3C-im][NTf₂] recently developed in our laboratory was used as solvent and successfully applied to accelerate Claisen rearrangement reactions at high temperatures. In the presence of Lewis acid MgCl₂, these thermal rearrangements could be achieved in similar reaction times but at lower temperature. For the microwaved reactions studied in this work, without scarifying isolated yields, the reaction times were significantly reduced from hours (by conventional heating) to ≤3 min. Our result also demonstrated that [b-3C-im][NTf₂] ionic liquid was a useful solvent substitute and could be recycled multiple times for the studied rearrangement reaction at elevated temperatures.     

CuI/La(OTf)3 catalyzed, one-pot synthesis of isomeric ellipticine derivatives in ionic liquid

An efficient method for one-pot synthesis of isomeric ellipticine derivatives through CuI/La(OTf)₃ catalyzed sequential inter/intramolecular cyclization of substituted alkynes with imines followed by aromatization is reported in good to excellent yields.     

Direct sulfonylation of Baylis-Hillman alcohols and diarylmethanols with TosMIC in ionic liquid-[Hmim]HSO4: an unexpected reaction

A Brønsted acidic ionic liquid-[Hmim]HSO₄ promoted unexpected reaction of Baylis-Hillman alcohols and diarylmethanols with p-toluenesulfonylmethyl isocyanide (TosMIC) affording the corresponding sulfone derivatives instead of N-tosylmethyl amides is reported. After isolation of the product, the ionic liquid [Hmim]HSO₄ was easily recycled for further use.     

An efficient one pot method for synthesis of carboxylic acids from nitriles using recyclable ionic liquid [bmim]HSO4

Environmentally benign ionic liquid [bmim]HSO₄ was found suitable for conversion of nitriles into carboxylic acids under mild conditions with excellent purity.     

Rare earth perfluorooctanoate [RE(PFO)3] catalyzed one-pot synthesis of benzopyran derivatives

Rare earth perfluorooctanoate [RE(PFO)₃] catalyzes facile condensation of dimedone, aldehydes and malononitrile under mild conditions to afford the corresponding 5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-benzo-[b]-pyran derivatives in good to high yields. The catalyst can be easy to prepare, stable and storable, easily recycled and reused for several cycles with consistent activity.
