Following Pareek a topological space X is called D-paracompact if for every open cover A of X there exists a continuous mapping f from X onto a developable T1-space Y and an open cover B of Y such that { f-1[B]|BB } refines A. It is shown that a space is D-paracompact if and only if it is subparacompact and D-expandable. Moreover, it is proved that D-paracompactness coincides with a covering property, called dissectability, which was introduced by the author in order to obtain a base characterization of developable spaces.  相似文献

A completely regular space X is called nearly pseudocompact if υX?X is dense in βX?X, where βX is the Stone-?ech compactification of X and υX is its Hewitt realcompactification. After characterizing nearly pseudocompact spaces in a variety of ways, we show that X is nearly pseudocompact if it has a dense locally compact pseudocompact subspace, or if no point of X has a closed realcompact neighborhood. Moreover, every nearly pseudocompact space X is the union of two regular closed subsets X1, X2 such that Int X1 is locally compact, no points of X2 has a closed realcompact neighborhood, and Int(X1?X2)=?. It follows that a product of two nearly pseudocompact spaces, one of which is locally compact, is also nearly pseudocompact.  相似文献

Let X be a finite-dimensional compactum. Let R(X) and N(X) be the spaces of retractions and non-deformation retractions of X, respectively, with the compact-open (=sup-metric) topology. Let 2Xh be the space of non-empty compact ANR subsets of X with topology induced by the homotopy metric. Let RXh be the subspace of 2Xh consisting of the ANR's in X that are retracts of X.We show that N(Sm) is simply-connected for m > 1. We show that if X is an ANR and A0?RXh, then limi→∞Ai=A0 in 2Xh if and only if for every retraction r0 of X onto A0 there are, for almost all i, retractions ri of X onto Ai such that limi→∞ri=ro in R(X). We show that if X is an ANR, then the local connectedness of R(X) implies that of RXh. We prove that R(M) is locally connected if M is a closed surface. We give examples to show how some of our results weaken when X is not assumed to be an ANR.  相似文献

About spaces NR (see [2, Exercise 5I]), the following are proved: (1) dim N∪R = dim β(N∪R)?N∪R,(2)if|β(N∪R)?N∪R|<2?o, then no real-valued continuous fu ction on NR is onto (and hence, dim N∪R=0), (3) any compact metric space without isolated points is homeomorphic to some β(N∪R)?N∪R and (4)there are spaces X,X1 and X2 of the form NR such that X=X1X2,X2andX2 are zero sets of X, and dim X=n, dimX1=dimX2=0, where n=1,2,… or ∞.  相似文献

Let X,Y be sets with quasiproximities X? and Y? (where A?B is interpreted as “B is a neighborhood of A”). Let f,g:XY be a pair of functions such that whenever CY?D, then f−1[C]X?g−1[D]. We show that there is then a function h:XY such that whenever CY?D, then f−1[C]X?h−1[D], h−1[C]X?h−1[D] and h−1[C]X?g−1[D]. Since any function h that satisfies h−1[C]X?h−1[D] whenever CY?D, is continuous, many classical “sandwich” or “insertion” theorems are corollaries of this result. The paper is written to emphasize the strong similarities between several concepts
the posets with auxiliary relations studied in domain theory;
quasiproximities and their simplification, Urysohn relations; and
the axioms assumed by Katětov and by Lane to originally show some of these results.
Interpolation results are obtained for continuous posets and Scott domains. We also show that (bi-)topological notions such as normality are captured by these order theoretical ideas.  相似文献

The following result, and a closely related one, is proved: If u:XY is an open, perfect surjection, with X metrizable and with dim X = 0 or dim Y = 0, then there exists a perfect surjection h: Y×S→X such that u ° h = πY (where S in the Cantor set and π : Y×S→ Y is the projection). If moreover, u-1(y) is homeomorphic to S for all y?Y, then h can be chosen to be a homeomorphism.  相似文献

A second countable developable T1-space D1 is defined which has the following properties: (1) D1 is an absolute extensor for the class of perfect spaces. (2) D1?0 is a universal space for second countable developable T1-spaces.  相似文献

Given a commuting pair A1, A2 of abelian C1 subalgebras of the Calkin algebra, we look for a commuting pair B1,B2 of C1 subalgebras of B(H) which project onto A1 and A2. We do not insist that Bi, be abelian, so Bi, may contain nontrivial compact operators. If X is the joint spectrum σ(A1, A2), it is shown that the existence of a pair B1, B2 depends only on the element τ in Ext(X) determined by A1, A2. The set L(X) of those τ in Ext(X) which “lift” in this sense is shown to be a subgroup of Ext(X) when Ext(X) is Hausdorff, and also when Ai are singly generated. In this latter case, L(X) can be explicitly calculated for large classes of joint spectra. These results are applied to lift certain pairs of commuting elements of the Calkin algebra to pairs of commuting operators.  相似文献

Let (A) be the characterization of dimension as follows: Ind X?n if and only if X has a σ-closure-preserving base W such that Ind B(W)?n?1 for every W?W. The validity of (A) is proved for spaces X such that(i) X is a paracompact σ-metric space with a scale {Xi} such that each Xi has a uniformly approaching anti-cover, or(ii) X is a subspace of the product ΠXi of countably many L-spaces Xi, the notion of which is due to K. Nagami.(i) and (ii) are the partial answers to Nagata's problem wheter (A) holds or not for every M1-space X.  相似文献

Let X be a set. A collection Uof subsets of X has subinfinite rank if whenever V ? U, ∩V≠ø, and V is infinite, then there are two distinct elements of V, one of which is a subset of the other. Theorem. AT1space with a base of subinfinite rank is hereditarily metacompact.  相似文献

We show that for a C1-dynamical system (A, G, α) with G discrete (abelian) the Connes spectrum Γ(α) is equal to G? if and only if every nonzero closed ideal in G × αA has a nonzero intersection with A. Denote by GJ the closed subgroup of G that leaves fixed the primitive ideal J of A. We show for a general group G that if all isotropy groups GJ are discrete, then GXαA is simple if and only if A is G-simple and Γ(α) = G?. This result is applicable not only when G is discrete but also when G?R or G?T provided that A is not primitive. Specializing to single automorphisms (i.e., G=Z) we show that if (the transposed of) α acts freely on a dense set of points in A?, then Λ(α)=T. The converse is only proved when A is of type I.  相似文献

We propose a generalization of Heath's theorem that semi-metric spaces with point-countable bases are developable: A semi-metrizable space X is developabale if (and only if) there is on it a σ-discrete family C=?m?NCm of closed sets, interior-preserving over each member C of which is a countable family {Dn(C): n ∈ N} of collections of open sets such that if U is a neighbourhood of ξ∈X, then there are such a Γ∈C and such a v∈ N that ξ ? Γ and ξ∈ int ∩ (D: ξ: DDv(Γ))?U.  相似文献

Let {Xt, t ≥ 0} be Brownian motion in Rd (d ≥ 1). Let D be a bounded domain in Rd with C2 boundary, ?D, and let q be a continuous (if d = 1), Hölder continuous (if d ≥ 2) function in D?. If the Feynman-Kac “gauge” Ex{exp(∝0τDq(Xt)dt)1A(XτD)}, where τD is the first exit time from D, is finite for some non-empty open set A on ?D and some x?D, then for any ? ? C0(?D), φ(x) = Ex{exp(∝0τDq(Xt)dt)?(XτD)} is the unique solution in C2(D) ∩ C0(D?) of the Schrödinger boundary value problem (12Δ + q)φ = 0 in D, φ = ? on ?D.  相似文献

In Section 1, if O is a c.d.v.r. with quotient field of characteristic zero and residue class field k, if A is an O-algebra and if A = A ?Ok, then for algebraic families X over A that are polynomially properly embeddable over A, we define the lifted p-adic homology with compact supportsHhc(X, A2 ?zQ), which are functors with respect to proper maps. In Section 2, it is shown that, if X is an algebraic variety over k (i.e., if A = k), then the lifted p-adic homology of X with compact supports with coefficients in K is finite dimensional over K = quotient field of O. In Section 3, the results of Sections 1 and 2 are used to generalize both the statement and proof of the Weil “Lefschetz Theorem” Conjecture and the statement (but not the proof) of the Weil “Riemann Hypothesis” Conjecture, to non-complete, singular varieties over finite fields. In addition, the Weil zeta function of varieties over finite fields, is generalized by a device which we call the zeta matrices, Wh(X), 0 ≤ h ≤ 2 dim X, of an algebraic variety X, to varieties over even infinite fields of non-zero characteristic. These are used to give formulas for the zeta functions of each variety in an algebraic family, by means of the zeta matrices of an alebraic family. Sketches only are given. In Section 4, some of the material is duplicated, to define a q-adic homology with compact supports, q ≠ characteristic. The definition only makes sense for algebraic varieties; finite generation is proved. And the Weil “Lefschetz Theorem” Conjecture is established, even for singular, non-complete varieties, as well as a generalization of the Weil “Riemann Hypothesis” Conjecture. (However, zeta matrices do not make sense q-adically.)In Section 5, some special results are proved about p-adic homology with compact supports on affines. And the Weil “Riemann Hypothesis” conjecture is proved p-adically, p = characteristic, for projective, non-singular liftable varieties.  相似文献

A necessary and sufficient condition that a densely defined linear operator A in a sequentially complete locally convex space X be the infinitesimal generator of a quasi-equicontinuous C0-semigroup on X is that there exist a real number β ? 0 such that, for each λ > β, the resolvent (λI ? A)?1 exists and the family {(λ ? β)k(λI ? A)?k; λ > β, k = 0, 1, 2,…} is equicontinuous. In this case all resolvents (λI ? A)?1, λ > β, of the given operator A and all exponentials exp(tA), t ? 0, of the operator A belong to a Banach algebra Bг(X) which is a subspace of the space L(X) of all continuous linear operators on X, and, for each t ? 0 and for each x?X, one has limkz (I ? k?1tA)?kx = exp(tA) x. A perturbation theorem for the infinitesimal generator of a quasi-equicontinuous C0-semigroup by an operator which is an element of Bг(X) is obtained.  相似文献

A space X is said to satisfy condition (C) if for every Y?X with |Y|=ω1, any family G of open subsets of Y with |G|=ω1 has a countable network. It is easy to see that if X satisfies condition (C), then its Pixley-Roy hyperspace F[X] is CCC. We show that under MAω1 condition (C) is also necessary for F[X] to be CCC, but under CH it is not.  相似文献

Let θθ? = (θθ?1, θθ?2, …, θθ?n)′ be the least-squares estimator of θ = (θ1, θ2, …, θn)′ by the realization of the process y(t) = Σk = 1nθkfk(t) + ξ(t) on the interval T = [a, b] with f = (f1, f2, …, fn)′ belonging to a certain set X. The process satisfies E(ξ(t))≡0 and has known continuous covariance r(s, t) = E(ξ(s)ξ(t)) on T × T. In this paper, A-, D-, and Ds-optimality are used as criteria for choosing f in X. A-, D-, and Ds-optimal models can be constructed explicitly by means of r.  相似文献

We consider the question: when is a dense subset of a space XC-embedded in X? We introduce the notion of o-tightness and prove that if each finite subproduct of a product X = Πα?AXα has a countable o-tightness and Y is a subset of X such that πB(Y) = Πα?BXα for every countable B ? A, then Y is C-embedded in X. This result generalizes some of Noble and Ulmer's results on C-embedding.  相似文献

Let X be a nonarchimedean space and C be the union of all compact open subsets of X. The following conditions are listed in increasing order of generality. (Conditions 2 and 3 are equivalent.) 1. X is perfect; 2. C is an Fσ in X; 3. C? is metrizable; 4. X is orderable. It is also shown that X is orderable if C??C is scattered or X is a GO space with countably many pseudogaps. An example is given of a non-orderable, totally disconnected, GO space with just one pseudogap.  相似文献

Three main results are obtained: (1) If D is an atomic maximal Abelian subalgebra of B(H), P is the projection of B(H) onto D and h is a complex homomorphism on D, then h ° P is a pure state on B(H). (2) If {Pn} is a sequence of mutually orthogonal projections with rank(Pn) = n and ∑ Pn = I, P is the projection of B(H) onto {Pn}″ given by P(T)=∑tracen(T)Pn and h is a homomorphism on {Pn}″ such that h(Pn) = 0 for all n then h ° P induces a type II factor representation of the Calkin algebra. (3) If M is a nonatomic maximal Abelian subalgebra of B(H) then there is an atomic maximal Abelian subalgebra D of B(H) and a large family {Φα} of 1-homomorphisms from D onto M such that for each α, Φα ° P is an extreme point in the set of projections from B(H) onto M. (Here P denotes the projection of B(H) onto D.)  相似文献
