We present analytical bright multisoliton solutions to the generalized nonautonomous nonlinear Schrödinger equation with time- and space-dependent distributed coefficients in Fourier-synthesized optical lattice potential based on the similarity transformation technique. Such solutions exist in certain constraint conditions on the coefficients depicting dispersion, nonlinearity, and gain (or loss). Various shapes of bright solitons and interesting interactions between two solitons are observed, including soliton trains, collapse and revival of condensates, and two periodic M-shape solitons with collision. Phenomena of a few solitons and physical applications of interest to the field are discussed.  相似文献

We consider the dynamics of bright solitons in one dimensional Bose Einstein condensate with spin orbit coupling and trapped by an optical lattice potential. We mainly focus on the effects of the spin orbit coupling, Rabi coupling and detuning parameter on the soliton dynamics. The solution of the coupled Gross Pitaevskii equation is performed with the help of the variational and numerical methods for various parameters. The population imbalance and the center of mass motion show different dynamic behaviors depending on the parameters. We also obtain traveling bright solitons related with a given finite initial momentum.  相似文献

We study theoretically nonlinear surface waves in optical lattices and show that solitons can exist at the heterointerface between two different semi-infinite 1D waveguide arrays, as well as at the boundaries of a 2D nonlinear lattice. The existence and properties of these surface soliton solutions are investigated in detail.  相似文献

We report the first experimental and theoretical demonstrations of in-band (or embedded) lattice solitons. Such solitons appear in trains, and their propagation constants reside inside the first Bloch band of a square lattice, different from all previously observed solitons. We show that these solitons bifurcate from Bloch modes at the interior high-symmetry X points within the first band, where normal and anomalous diffractions coexist along two orthogonal directions. At high powers, the in-band soliton can move into the first band gap and turn into a gap soliton.  相似文献

The process of photo-induced transport of cold atoms in optical lattices is discussed for the case in which the direct tunneling of atoms is suppressed but transport of an atom is possible as a result of simultaneous absorption and reemission of two photons with different energies. Proceeding from the Bose-Hubbard model for two kinds of traps of a one-dimensional optical lattice, a set of equations describing the propagation of an ultrashort pulse of biharmonic radiation accompanied by a transfer of populations of traps of such a double lattice is derived. It was found that, depending on the choice of boundary conditions, there exist two types of stationary solitary waves corresponding to the propagation of a coupled pair of soliton pulses: a pair of bright solitons and a coupled pair of dark and bright solitons.  相似文献

We report on the existence of multicolor solitons supported by periodic lattices made from quadratic nonlinear media. Such lattice solitons bridge the gap between continuous solitons in uniform media and discrete solitons in strongly localized systems and exhibit a wealth of new features. We discovered that, in contrast to uniform media, multipeaked lattice solitons are stable. Thus they open new opportunities for all-optical switching based on soliton packets.  相似文献

The modulational instability and gap solitons are theoretically studied in the ferromagnetic films under a periodic magnetic field. By multiple scale expansion, the envelope soliton solutions are obtained naturally. Due to the periodic modulation of dispersion, the solitons may be pushed into the gap region. For the easy-axis magnetic film, the red-shift of frequency leads to a modulational instability in the bottom of band and generates a bright gap soliton. For the easy-plane case, the blue-shift leads to an instability in the top of band and a dark gap soliton emerges. The weak damping produces an attenuation factor and a small oscillation.  相似文献

We study the dynamics of bright solitons formed in a Bose-Einstein condensate with attractive atomic interactions perturbed by a weak bichromatic optical lattice potential. The lattice depth is a biperiodic function of time with a zero mean, which realizes a flashing ratchet for matter-wave solitons. We find that the average velocity of a soliton and the soliton current induced by the ratchet depend on the number of atoms in the soliton. As a consequence, soliton transport can be induced through scattering of different solitons. In the regime when matter-wave solitons are narrow compared to the lattice period the dynamics is well described by the effective Hamiltonian theory.  相似文献

We make use of a coordinate-free approach to implement Vakhitov-Kolokolov criterion for stability analysis in order to study the effects of three-body atomic recombination and lattice potential on the matter-wave bright solitons formed in Bose-Einstein condensates. We analytically demonstrate that (i) the critical number of atoms in a stable BEC soliton is just half the number of atoms in a marginally stable Townes-like soliton and (ii) an additive optical lattice potential further reduces this number by a factor of √1 − bg 3 with g 3 the coupling constant of the lattice potential and b = 0.7301.   相似文献

In this paper, we obtain exact soliton solutions of the modified KdV equation, inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation and G(m, n) equation with variable-coefficients using solitary wave ansatz. The constraint conditions among the time-dependent coefficients turn out as necessary conditions for the solitons to exist. Numerical simulations for dark and bright soliton solutions for the mKdV equation are also given.  相似文献

In the present work, we numerically explore the existence and stability properties of different types of configurations of dark-bright solitons, dark-bright soliton pairs and pairs of dark-bright and dark solitons in discrete settings, starting from the anti-continuum limit. We find that while single discrete dark-bright solitons have similar stability properties to discrete dark solitons, their pairs may only be stable if the bright components are in phase and are always unstable if the bright components are out of phase. Pairs of dark-bright solitons with dark ones have similar stability properties as individual dark or dark-bright ones. Lastly, we consider collisions between dark-bright solitons and between a dark-bright one and a dark one. Especially in the latter and in the regime where the underlying lattice structure matters, we find a wide range of potential dynamical outcomes depending on the initial soliton speed.  相似文献

We study the magnetic soliton dynamics of spinor Bose-Einstein condensates in an optical lattice which results in an effective Hamiltonian of anisotropic pseudospin chain. An equation of nonlinear Schrödinger type is derived and exact magnetic soliton solutions are obtained analytically by means of Hirota method. Our results show that the critical external field is needed for creating the magnetic soliton in spinor Bose-Einstein condensates. The soliton size, velocity and shape frequency can be controlled in practical experiment by adjusting the magnetic field. Moreover, the elastic collision of two solitons is investigated in detail.  相似文献

基于分步束传播法数值分析了离散空间光孤子在准一维光诱 导光子晶格中的相干与非相干相互作用过程. 结果表明: 对于相干孤子, 同相时相互吸引, 反相时相互排斥. 然而, 由于非线性响应的各向异性, 横向排布的非相干孤子会因间隔波导数目的增加而由相互吸引变为相互排斥. 并且, 沿对角方向排布的两个非相干孤子在孤子相 互作用力和布拉格反射的共同影响下, 会呈现出"钟摆式"振荡传输现象. 研究结果有助于进一步理解非线性各向异性对离散孤子相互作用的影响机制, 并为后续实验研究提供理论参考.  相似文献

We show that discrete dissipative optical lattice solitons are possible in waveguide array configurations that involve periodically patterned semiconductor optical amplifiers and saturable absorbers. The characteristics of these low-power soliton states are investigated, and their propagation constant eigenvalues are mapped on Floquet-Bloch band diagrams. The prospect of observing such low-power dissipative lattice solitons is discussed in detail.  相似文献

We study the properties of a nonlinear Schr?dinger equation in the presence of a disordered potential modeling a waveguide array. We find that, for both signs of the nonlinearity, there is a large number of soliton families each one possessing different quantitative properties. However, all these families can be categorized to only a few classes with the same qualitative properties. Highly confined solitons exist in each waveguide of the lattice. In addition, solitons families originate from each Anderson mode. Resonant interactions between a soliton and an Anderson mode can take place, leading to broadening of the soliton profile.  相似文献

A system of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations (CNLS) has dark soliton solutions. In nonlinear left-handed materials, the interaction of two of these dark solitons with the same parameter κ can generate new electromagnetic envelops that are quite different from a single soliton, even including a ‘bright’ envelop. But the new-generated envelops can also propagate steadily in the materials, we call them quasi-soliton. Numerical calculations demonstrate that varying either the parameter κ or the distance between the two solitons will change the envelop shape of the quasi-soliton remarkably. We present three families of soliton solutions to the generalized (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with distributed coefficients. We investigate the dynamics of these solitons in nonlinear optics with some selected parameters. Different shapes of bright solitons, a train of bright solitons and dark solitons are observed. Quantization of solitons in terms of Euclidean region functional integrals is developed, and Osterwalder-Schrader reconstruction is extended to theories with topological solitons. The quantization method is applied to several lattice field theories with solitons, and the particle structure in the soliton sectors of such theories is analyzed. A construction of magnetic monopoles in the four-dimensional, compactU(1)-model, in the QED phase, is indicated as well.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of bright matter wave solitons in spin-1 Bose–Einstein condensates with time modulated nonlinearities. We obtain soliton solutions of an integrable autonomous three-coupled Gross–Pitaevskii (3-GP) equations using Hirota?s method involving a non-standard bilinearization. The similarity transformations are developed to construct the soliton solutions of non-autonomous 3-GP system. The non-autonomous solitons admit different density profiles. An interesting phenomenon of soliton compression is identified for kink-like nonlinearity coefficient with Hermite–Gaussian-like potential strength. Our study shows that these non-autonomous solitons undergo non-trivial collisions involving condensate switching.  相似文献
