We have used positron annihilation spectroscopy to determine the nature and the concentrations of the open volume defects in as-grown and electron irradiated (E(el)=2 MeV, fluence 6 x 10(17) cm(-2)) ZnO samples. The Zn vacancies are identified at concentrations of [V(Zn)] approximately 2 x 10(15) cm(-3) in the as-grown material and [V(Zn)] approximately 2 x 10(16) cm(-3) in the irradiated ZnO. These concentrations are in very good agreement with the total acceptor density determined by temperature dependent Hall experiments. Thus, the Zn vacancies are dominant acceptors in both as-grown and irradiated ZnO.  相似文献

Macroscopic samples (volume approximately cm(3), atomic density approximately 10(19) -10(20) cm(-3)) of noble-gas nanoclusters (size approximately 5-6 nm) were produced in superfluid helium by an impurity-helium gas injection technique. X-ray diffraction measurements show that the samples consist of weakly interacting nanoclusters with fivefold symmetry, such as icosahedra and decahedra. These results open new opportunities for fundamental research of nanoclusters of noble gases and other materials in well-controlled environments using experimental techniques requiring bulk samples.  相似文献

Pulsed infrared (nu approximately 2350 cm(-1)) laser excitation spectra of CO2 molecules embedded in helium droplets are reported. The spectra exhibit a sharp R(0) rovibrational line accompanied by a weak broader (deltanu approximately 10 cm(-1)) satellite band, which is shifted by 14 cm(-1) towards higher frequencies. We assign this satellite band to a simultaneous rovibrational excitation of a molecule and its helium solvation shell. The results are rationalized within a model, which includes coupling of the rotational states of a molecule and a ring of He atoms.  相似文献

Thin films of polyelectrolyte/J aggregate dye bilayers with high absorption coefficient (6 nm thick with alpha approximately equal to 1.0 x 10(6) cm(-1)) inserted in an optical microcavity enable the cavity quantum electrodynamic strong coupling limit to be reached at room temperature with a coupling strength (Rabi splitting) of 265 +/- 15 meV. By embedding these films in a resonant cavity organic LED structure, we demonstrate the first emissive electrically pumped exciton-polariton device.  相似文献

At temperatures below 2.1 K, long-lived gaseous Rb atoms in glass cells have been generated with a simple method: irradiating the cells, containing 4He gas and Rb metal, with a cw laser. The obtained atomic Rb density ( approximately 10(8) cm(-3)) decreases with a 1/e time constant of about 10 s at 1.85 K. We have performed optical pumping of the Rb atoms and measured the longitudinal electronic spin relaxation time at 1.85 K as well. For processes (such as Rb-He collisions) which do not remove the atomic Rb from the vapor, this relaxation time is found to be about 60+/-15 s.  相似文献

A scheme for artificially collimating fast-electron beams produced in high intensity (>10(19) W cm(-2)) laser-solid interactions is proposed. The scheme uses a laser pulse at the relativistic threshold (approximately 10(18) W cm(-2)) that precedes the high intensity pulse to pregenerate a collimating magnetic field. This concept is supported by analytical calculations and numerical calculations performed using a novel hybrid-Vlasov-Fokker-Planck code called LEDA. This scheme may be highly useful for fast ignition inertial confinement fusion.  相似文献

Spectra of (10)B monoisotopic diborane, B(2)H(6), have been recorded at high resolution (2-3 x 10(-3) cm(-1)) by means of Fourier transform spectroscopy in the region 700-1300 cm(-1). A thorough analysis of the nu(18) a-type, nu(14) c-type, and nu(5) symmetry-forbidden band has been performed. Of particular interest are the results concerning the nu(5) symmetry-forbidden band, which is observed only because it borrows intensity through an a-type Coriolis interaction with the very strong nu(18) infrared band located approximately 350 cm(-1) higher in wavenumber. The nu(5) band has been observed around 833 cm(-1) and consists of a well-resolved Q branch accompanied by weaker P- and R-branch lines. Very anomalous line intensities are seen, with the low K(a) transitions being vanishingly weak, and Raman-like selection rules observed. The determination of the upper state Hamiltonian constants proved to be difficult since the corresponding energy levels of each of the bands are strongly perturbed by nearby dark states. To account for these strong localized resonances, it was necessary to introduce the relevant interacting terms in the Hamiltonian. As a result the upper state energy levels were calculated satisfactorily, and precise vibrational energies and rotational and coupling constants were determined. In particular the following band centers were derived: nu(0) (nu(5)) = 832.8496(70) cm(-1), nu(0) (nu(14)) = 977.57843(70) cm(-1), and nu(0) (nu(18)) = 1178.6346(40) cm(-1). The interaction of atomic hydrogen with a-Si:H films was studied by means of in situ ESR during H plasma treatment. H diffuses into the a-Si:H film and creates additional Si dangling bonds ( approximately 10(13) cm (-2)). We observed a high diffusion coefficient (>10(-10) cm (2) s (-1)) at the very initial stage of H treatment (<1 s). The resulting additional dangling bonds are spatially distributed ( approximately 100 nm) into the bulk film. The characteristic depth of dangling bond (db) distribution decreases with increasing H treatment temperature. The activated rate constants of db creation and annihilation reactions determine the distribution of additional dangling bonds at different treatment temperatures.  相似文献

The explosion dynamics of very large (approximately 10(6)-10(7) atoms) deuterium clusters irradiated by ultraintense laser pulses (I approximately 10(18) W/cm(2)) is analyzed self-consistently with one-to-one three-dimensional and two-dimensional fully relativistic particle-in-cell simulations. Small-scale shock shells in the expanding ion cloud are observed. A technique to induce the formation of large shock shells inside a single cluster, increasing the probability of intracluster nuclear reactions, is proposed and demonstrated.  相似文献

Ultrashort-pulse laser pump-probe ellipsometry has been performed on gold targets at intensities 2 x 10(12)-5 x 10(13) W/cm(2). We measured time-resolved p- and s-polarized reflectivity (r(p) and r(s)) and the s-p phase difference (delta). When plotted as Y=[2|r(s)||r(p)|sin((delta)]/(|r(s)|(2)+|r(p)|(2)) versus X=|r(p)|(2)/|r(s)|(2), the experimental data follow approximately the same curve in X-Y space, even for different pump intensities. Although the input energy density is about 40 eV/atom and the plasma expansion is rapid (up to 10 km/sec), our data are consistent with a partially transparent blowoff having an atomic polarizability (-1.75+0.2i)x 10(-24) cm(3). We attribute this behavior to recombination in the expanding plasma. The Saha equation predicts recombination and formation of negative ions and a low density of free electrons in the low-density vapor, and solutions of the Maxwell equations approximately reproduce the data.  相似文献

We report on crystallization of 15.7GeO(2) 84.3SiO(2) (in mol.%) glass by poling with ArF-laser excitation. The UV intensity was 100(mJ/cm (2))/pulse , and the number of shots was 10(4) . The crystallites that were observed in the glass were approximately 15-20microm in diameter. The crystallization feature was dependent on the poling electric field, showing a threshold field of ~0.5x10(5)V/cm , beyond which crystallization occurred.  相似文献

We demonstrate intense pulse guiding in efficient femtosecond end-pumped waveguides generated in clustered gases. This novel scheme provides a route to significantly lower on-axis plasma density (< 10(18) cm(-3)) more than is feasible in conventional hydrodynamic plasma waveguides. Self-focused propagation and strong absorption of intense femtosecond laser pulses are used to produce long centimeter scale channels in an argon cluster jet, and a subsequent pulse is guided with 3 x 10(17) W cm(-2) intensity and approximately 50% coupling efficiency. Preliminary results with hydrogen clusters also show guiding.  相似文献

In high-quality c-axis-oriented MgB2 thin films, we observed high critical current densities ( J(c)) of approximately 16 MA/cm(2) at 15 K under self-fields comparable to those of cuprate high-temperature superconductors. The extrapolated value of J(c) at 5 K was estimated to be approximately 40 MA/cm(2). For a magnetic field of 5 T, a J(c) of approximately 0.1 MA/cm(2) was detected at 15 K, suggesting that this compound would be a very promising candidate for practical applications at high temperature and lower power consumption. The vortex-glass phase is considered to be a possible explanation for the observed high current-carrying capability.  相似文献

We present for the first time the experimental validation of the nonlocal thermal-transport model for a National Ignition Facility relevant laser intensity of approximately 10(15) W/cm(2) on OMEGA. The measured thin target trajectories are in good agreement with predictions based on the nonlocal model over the full range of laser intensities from 2 x 10(14) to 10(15) W/cm(2}) The standard local thermal-transport model with a constant flux limiter of 0.06 disagrees with experimental measurements at a high intensity of approximately 10(15) W/cm(2) but agrees at lower intensities. These results show the significance of nonlocal effects for direct-drive ignition designs.  相似文献

High-resolution (Deltavarsigma = 2.3 and 2.9 x 10(-3) cm(-1)) FTIR spectra of natural and (35)Cl monoisotopic CH(3)CF(2)Cl have been recorded at -70 degrees C in the 600-1400 cm(-1) range. The bands nu(7), nu(8), and nu(15) have been rotationally analyzed for both isotopic varieties. With the help of predictions based on nu(8) parameters, the millimeter-wave spectrum of the (35)Cl species in the v(8) = 1 state has been observed and jointly fitted with the IR data. Only a small number of local perturbations have been detected in the spectra. Altogether more than 8000 IR transitions have been fitted with an experimental precision of ca. 3 x 10(-4) cm(-1). The two-photon absorption spectrum of a nickel bis(dithiolene) complex with extended conjugation and pi-donor substitution is measured by using Z-scan and pump-probe techniques with femtosecond pulses over the spectral range from 1.20 to 1.58 microm, which includes much of the telecommunications range. The peak two-photon cross section of over 5000 GM (1 GM = 10(-50) cm4 s photon(-1) molecule(-1)) occurs at approximately 1.24 microm, with significant two-photon absorption (>440 GM) throughout the spectral range examined.  相似文献

We present measurements on the trapping of 0-3 eV electrons in H2O ice films covered with a submonolayer of N2 molecules. At the energy of the N-2((2)Pi(g)) shape resonance, the absolute cross section for electron trapping in ice is approximately 5.5 x 10(-16) cm(2), similar to that for vibrational excitations of gaseous N2 via the resonance. This result, indicating that nearly all electrons from autoionization of N-2((2)Pi(g)) are transferred to electron traps in ice, is explained by superinelastic electron transfer from N-2((2)Pi(g)) into preexisting traps in polar ice, leaving N2 in high vibrational excited states.  相似文献

Nitrogen (15N) and carbon (12C) ion implantations with implant energy of 100 keV for different doses were performed on nanosized diamond (ND) particles. Magnetic measurements on the doped ND show ferromagnetic hysteresis behavior at room temperature. The saturation magnetization (M(s)) in the case of 15N implanted samples was found to be higher compared to the 12C implanted samples for dose sizes greater than 10(14) cm(-2). The role of structural modification or defects along with the carbon-nitrogen (C-N) bonding states for the observed enhanced ferromagnetic ordering in 15N doped samples is explained on the basis of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements.  相似文献

The compression of planar plastic targets was studied with x-ray radiography in the range of laser intensities of I approximately 0.5 to 1.5x10(15) W/cm2 using square (low-compression) and shaped (high-compression) pulses. Two-dimensional simulations with the radiative hydrocode DRACO show good agreement with measurements at laser intensities up to I approximately 10(15) W/cm2. These results provide the first experimental evidence for low-entropy, adiabatic compression of plastic shells in the laser intensity regime relevant to direct-drive inertial confinement fusion. A density reduction near the end of the drive at a high intensity of I approximately 1.5x10(15) W/cm2 has been correlated with the hard x-ray signal caused by hot electrons from two-plasmon-decay instability.  相似文献
