The Bc+/- meson is observed through the decay Bc+/--->J/psipi+/-, in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.4 fb(-1) recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. A signal of 108+/-15 candidates is observed, with a significance that exceeds 8sigma. The mass of the Bc+/- meson is measured to be 6275.6+/-2.9(stat)+/-2.5(syst) MeV/c2.  相似文献

19F Magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to study the impact of the biochemical modulator thymidine (TdR) on the 5-fluorouracil (5FU) metabolism in the livers and radiation-induced fibrosarcoma (RIF-1) tumors of 5FU-treated C3H mice. The liver spectra measured after administration of 5FU (65 or 130 mg/kg IP) showed the 5 FU resonance and its catabolites alpha-fluoro-beta-ureidopropionic acid and alpha-fluoro-beta-alanine. At the latter dose, fluoronucleotide signal was also detected. The liver spectra of TdR-pretreated (500 mg/kg, IP) mice showed additional signals of fluoronucleotide and fluoronucleoside at both 5FU doses, while alpha-fluoro-beta-alanine was not detected. TdR pretreatment increased the half-life of 5FU in livers from 24 +/- 2 to 126 +/- 46 SEM min at the 5FU dose of 65 mg/kg and from 28 +/- 2 to 95 +/- 22 min at the 130 mg/kg dose (P less than .1 and P less than .01, respectively). TdR-pretreated mice had higher 5FU anabolite (fluoronucleotide + fluoronucleoside) levels in their RIF-1 tumors than nonpretreated mice that received the same 5FU doses (56 +/- 15 SEM vs. 0 arbitrary units at the 5FU dose of 65 mg/kg, and 88 +/- 21 vs. 10 +/- 3 arbitrary units at 130 mg/kg 5FU; P less than .0001). The percentage drop in tumor volume was enhanced in the mice that received TdR, from 27 +/- 4 SEM to 52 +/- 2 at the 5 FU dose of 65 mg/kg and from 24 +/- 3 to 65 +/- 4 at the 130-mg/kg dose (P less than .0001, both).  相似文献

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been applied to assess kidney function in normal rats by monitoring the passage of the extracellular contrast agent GdDOTA. High-resolution images have been obtained using either the rapid acquisition with relaxation enhancement (RARE) or the snapshot pulse sequence. The latter was superior in anatomic definition due to the shorter echo delays used. The GdDOTA induced signal enhancements in the various renal structures were theoretically modeled and the results of the regression analysis then used to estimate local tissue concentrations in renal cortex, inner medulla and outer medulla/pelvis. The concentration-time curves in vena cava and renal cortex were similar and distinctly different from the ones in medulla and pelvis. This is reflected in the time-to-peak (TTP) values, which were TTP (blood) = 0.18 +/- 0.03 < TTP (cortex) = 0.26 +/- 0.05 < TTP (outer medulla) = 0.62 +/- 0.03 < TTP (inner medulla/pelvis) = 0.92 +/- 0.16 min. The initial tracer uptake rates depended linearly on the dose of GdDOTA administered, the value of the uptake rate in the cortex being significantly higher than those in the outer and inner medulla, which were identical within error limits. The initial medullar tracer uptake followed a first-order kinetics. The rate constant k(cl) = (dc[medulla]/dt)/c[cortex] = 3.4 +/- 0.5 min(-1) for the transition from cortex (predominantly blood signal) to medulla (predominantly urine) was considered a measure for the renal clearance. Intravenous administration of furosemide at doses 2.5, 5, and 10 mg/kg led to a dose-dependent decrease of k(cl). This reflects the inhibitory effect of the diuretic furosemide on medullary water resorption and thus the dilution of the GdDOTA in urine.  相似文献

We report the first evidence for a fully reconstructed decay mode of the B(c)+- meson in the channel B(c)+- --> J/psi pi+-, with J/psi --> mu+ mu-. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of 360 pb(-1) in pp collisions at 1.96 TeV center of mass energy collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We observe 14.6 +/- 4.6 signal events with a background of 7.1 +/- 0.9 events, and a fit to the J/psi pi+-mass spectrum yields a B(c)+- mass of 6285.7 +/- 5.3(stat) +/- 1.2(syst) MeV/c2. The probability of a peak of this magnitude occurring by random fluctuation in the search region is estimated as 0.012%.  相似文献

We studied the effect of hydralazine on tumor blood volume fraction and microvascular random flow velocity magnitude by IVIM weighted MRI in conjunction with dynamic Gd-DTPA-Albumin enhanced MRI. Blood volume fraction maps were obtained from the dynamic Gd-DTPA-Albumin enhanced MRI measurements. The average blood volume fraction of R3230 AC adenocarcinoma decreased from 0.125 +/- 0.022 (s.d.) ml/g to 0.105 +/- 0.018 (s.d.) ml/g (p < 0.001) after the administration of hydralazine at a dose of 5 mg/kg. The microvascular random flow velocity magnitude maps were obtained from the IVIM weighted MRI signals by utilizing the Gd-DTPA-Albumin measured blood volume fractions as an input in the compartmental modeling analysis of the IVIM weighted MRI signal. The random-directional microvascular flow induced MRI signal attenuation was separated from the molecular diffusion induced signal attenuation. Flow induced attenuation was more significant after the administration of hydralazine. The mean microvascular random flow velocity magnitude increased from 0.52 +/- 0.15 (s.d.) mm/sec to 0.73 +/- 0.23 (s.d.) mm/sec (p < 0.05) in the presence of the above blood volume fraction change.  相似文献

We report the first observation of the decay J/psi-->3gamma. The signal has a statistical significance of 6sigma and corresponds to a branching fraction of B(J/psi-->3gamma)=(1.2+/-0.3+/-0.2)x10;{-5}, in which the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The measurement uses psi(2S)-->pi;{+}pi;{-}J/psi events acquired with the CLEO-c detector operating at the CESR e;{+}e;{-} collider.  相似文献

The utility of triple-quantum (TQ)-filtered (23)Na NMR spectroscopy for discriminating between intra- and extracellular Na(+)(Na(i)(+) and Na(e)(+), respectively) in a solid tumor in vivo was evaluated using TmDOTP(5-) as a (23)Na shift reagent. Infusion of 80 mM TmDOTP(5-) without added Ca(2+) produced baseline-resolved Na(i)(+) and Na(e)(+) peaks in both single-quantum (SQ) and TQ-filtered (23)Na spectra. The Na(i)(+) signal represented 22+/-4% of the SQ spectrum, but 59+/-10% of the TQ-filtered spectrum. Therefore, the Na(i)(+) contribution in TQ-filtered spectra is much higher than in SQ spectra. Both SQ and TQ-filtered Na(i)(+) signals increased by about 75% 1 h after sacrificing the animal. The TQ-filtered relaxation times did not change during this time, indicating that changes observed in TQ-filtered spectra collected with a preparation time of 3 ms represent changes in the concentration of sodium ions contributing to the TQ-filtered signal. Similar experiments were conducted without TmDOTP(5-) to determine changes in the Na(e)(+) signal in the absence of the shift reagent. The changes in total SQ and TQ-filtered signals 1 h after sacrificing the animal showed that the SQ Na(e)(+) signal decreased by approximately 35%, while the TQ-filtered Na(e)(+) signal did not change significantly. This demonstrates that the TQ-filtered (23)Na signal is relatively insensitive to changes in Na(e)(+) content. To our knowledge, this work represents the first evaluation of multiple-quantum-filtered (23)Na spectroscopy to discriminate between intra- and extracellular Na(+) in a solid tumor in vivo.  相似文献

We report the observation of Bs(0)-Bs(0) oscillations from a time-dependent measurement of the Bs(0)-Bs(0) oscillation frequency Deltams. Using a data sample of 1 fb(-1) of pp collisions at square root of s=1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, we find signals of 5600 fully reconstructed hadronic Bs decays, 3100 partially reconstructed hadronic Bs decays, and 61,500 partially reconstructed semileptonic Bs decays. We measure the probability as a function of proper decay time that the Bs decays with the same, or opposite, flavor as the flavor at production, and we find a signal for Bs(0)-Bs(0) oscillations. The probability that random fluctuations could produce a comparable signal is 8 x 10(-8), which exceeds 5sigma significance. We measure Deltams=17.77 +/- 0.10(stat) +/- 0.07(syst) ps(-1) and extract /V(td)/V(ts)/=0.2060+/-0.0007(Deltams)(-0.0060)(+0.008)(Deltamd+theor).  相似文献

Gamma-ray emission from a narrow band at the galactic equator has previously been detected up to 30 GeV. We report evidence for a TeV gamma-ray signal from a region of the galactic plane by Milagro, a large-field-of-view water Cherenkov detector for extensive air showers. An excess with a significance of 4.5 standard deviations has been observed from the region of galactic longitude l E (40 degrees, 100 degrees) and latitude /b/ < 5 degrees. Under the assumption of a simple power law spectrum, with no cutoff in the EGRET-Milagro energy range, the measured integral flux is phi gamma(>3.5 TeV) = (6.4 +/- 1.4 +/- 2.1) x 10(-11) cm(-2) s(-1) sr(-1). This flux is consistent with an extrapolation of the EGRET spectrum between 1 and 30 GeV in this galactic region.  相似文献

The inclusive production of D(s), D(0), and J/psi mesons is studied using a 1.86 fb(-1) data sample collected on the Upsilon(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The number of bb events in this Upsilon(5S) data sample is determined. We measure the branching fractions B(Upsilon(5S)-->D(s)X)/2=(23.6+/-1.2+/-3.6)%, B(Upsilon(5S)-->D(0)X)/2=(53.8+/-2.0+/-3.4)%, and B(Upsilon(5S)-->J/psiX)/2=(1.030+/-0.080+/-0.067)%. From the D(s) and D(0) inclusive branching fractions the ratio f(s)=(18.0+/-1.3+/-3.2)% of B(s)(*)B(s)(*) to the total bb quark pair production at the Upsilon(5S) energy is obtained in a model-dependent way.  相似文献

We report the observation and measurement of the mass of the bottom, strange baryon Xi(b)- through the decay chain Xi(b)- -->J/psiXi-, where J/psi-->mu+mu-, Xi- -->Lambdapi-, and Lambda-->ppi-. A signal is observed whose probability of arising from a background fluctuation is 6.6 x 10(-15), or 7.7 Gaussian standard deviations. The Xi(b)- mass is measured to be 5792.9+/-2.5(stat) +/- 1.7(syst) MeV/c2.  相似文献

We study B+/ --> J/psi pi(+/-) and B+/ --> J/psi K+/- decays in a sample of about 89 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B factory at SLAC. We observe a signal of 244+/-20 B+/ --> J/psi pi(+/-) events and determine the ratio B(B+/ --> J/psi pi(+/-))/B(B+/ --> J/psi K+/-) to be [5.37+/-0.45(stat)+/-0.11(syst)]%. The charge asymmetries for the B+/ --> J/psi pi(+/-) and B+/ --> J/psi K+/- decays are determined to be A(pi)=0.123+/-0.085(stat)+/-0.004(syst) and A(K)=0.030+/-0.015(stat)+/-0.006(syst), respectively.  相似文献

Diffusion imaging with high-b factors, high spatial resolution and cerebrospinal fluid signal suppression was performed in order to characterize the biexponential nature of the diffusion-related signal decay with b-factor in normal cortical gray and deep gray matter (GM). Integration of inversion pulses with a line scan diffusion imaging sequence resulted in 91% cerebrospinal fluid signal suppression, permitting accurate measurement of the fast diffusion coefficient in cortical GM (1.142+/-0.106 microm2/ms) and revealing a marked similarity with that found in frontal white matter (WM) (1.155+/-0.046 microm2/ms). The reversal of contrast between GM and WM at low vs high b-factors is shown to be due to a significantly faster slow diffusion coefficient in cortical GM (0.338+/-0.027 microm2/ms) than in frontal WM (0.125+/-0.014 microm2/ms). The same characteristic diffusion differences between GM and WM are observed in other brain tissue structures. The relative component size showed nonsignificant differences among all tissues investigated. Cellular architecture in GM and WM are fundamentally different and may explain the two- to threefold higher slow diffusion coefficient in GM.  相似文献

We report the first observation of two charmed strange baryons that decay into Lambda(c)(+)Kappa(-)pi(+). The broader of the two states is measured to have a mass of 2978.5+/-2.1+/-2.0 MeV/c2 and a width of 43.5+/-7.5+/-7.0 MeV/c2. The mass and width of the narrow state are measured to be 3076.7+/-0.9+/-0.5 MeV/c;{2} and 6.2+/-1.2+/-0.8 MeV/c2, respectively. We also perform a search for the isospin partner states that decay into Lambda(c)(+)Kappa(0)/(s)pi(-) and observe a significant signal at the mass of 3082.8+/-1.8+/-1.5 MeV/c2. The data used for this analysis were accumulated at or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance, using the Belle detector at the e+ e- asymmetric-energy collider KEKB. The integrated luminosity of the data sample used is 461.5 fb(-1).  相似文献

We have measured the absolute frequency of the excited state transition 5P(3/2)-4D(5/2) in a (87)Rb atom with a femtosecond frequency comb, utilizing the recently developed spectroscopic technique of the double resonance optical pumping method. The absolute energy level of the 4D(5/2) state is determined by measuring the absolute frequency of the 5S(1/2)-5P(3/2) transition simultaneously. The hyperfine structure constants of the 4D(5/2) state are obtained by using the measured frequency. The magnetic dipole constant, A, is determined to be (-16.747+/-0.010) MHz with an uncertainty reduced 60-fold compared with a previous result. The electric quadrupole constant, B, is determined, for what is to our knowledge the first time, to be (4.149+/-0.059) MHz.  相似文献

We report the first direct observation of the strange b baryon Xi(b)- (Xi(b)+). We reconstruct the decay Xi(b)- -->J/psiXi-, with J/psi-->mu+mu-, and Xi--->Lambdapi--->ppi-pi- in pp collisions at square root of s =1.96 TeV. Using 1.3 fb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector, we observe 15.2 +/- 4.4(stat)(-0.4)(+1.9)(syst) Xi(b)- candidates at a mass of 5.774 +/- 0.011(stat) +/- 0.015(syst) GeV. The significance of the observed signal is 5.5 sigma, equivalent to a probability of 3.3 x 10(-8) of it arising from a background fluctuation. Normalizing to the decay Lambda(b)-->J/psiLambda, we measure the relative rate sigma(Xi(b-) x B(Xi)b})- -->J/psiXi-)/sigma(Lambda(b)) x B(Lambda(b)-->J/psiLambda) = 0.28+/-0.09(stat)(-0.08)(+0.09)(syst).  相似文献

External radiation therapy of brain tumors may cause adverse effects on normal brain tissue, resulting in severe neuropsychological and cognitive impairment. We investigated the late delayed radiation effects in the white matter (WM) using (1)H magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging ((1)HMRSI). Nine glioma patients with local radiation-induced signal abnormalities in the T(2)-weighted MR images were studied with nine age- and sex-matched controls. The metabolite ratios in the radiation-induced hyper intensity area (RIHA) and in the normal appearing white matter (NAWM) of the patients were compared with respective WM areas of the controls. In RIHA, choline/creatine (Cho/Cr) was 17% decreased (1.22 +/- 0.13 vs 1.47 +/- 0.16, p = 0.0027, significant (s), unpaired Student's t test with Bonferroni correction) in the patients compared to the controls, while there was no difference in N-acetyl aspartate/Cr (NAA/Cr) (2.49 +/- 0.57 vs 2.98 +/- 0.32, p = 0.039) or NAA/Cho (2. 03 +/- 0.40 vs 2.04 +/- 0.17, p = 0.95). In NAWM, Cho/Cr was 24% decreased (1.21 +/- 0.15 vs 1.59 +/- 0.13, p < 0.0001, s) and NAA/Cho was 20% increased (2.49 +/- 0.49 vs 1.98 +/- 0.15, p = 0. 0082, s) in the patients compared to the controls, while there was no difference in NAA/Cr (2.99 +/- 0.46 vs 3.16 +/- 0.32, p = 0.38). NAA(RIHA)/NAA(NAWM) was 25% decreased (0.75 +/- 0.20 vs 1.00 +/- 0. 12, p = 0.0043, s) and Cr(RIHA)/Cr(NAWM) was 16% decreased (0.89 +/- 0.15 vs 1.06 +/- 0.10, p = 0.013, s) in the patients compared to the controls, while there was no difference in Cho(RIHA)/Cho(NAWM) (0.92 +/- 0.23 vs 0.98 +/- 0.10, p = 0.47). (1)HMRSI reveals widespread chemical changes in the WM after radiation therapy. In RIHA, there is loss of NAA, Cho, and Cr implying axonal and membrane damage and in NAWM, there is loss of Cho, reflecting membrane damage.  相似文献

Respiratory-gated proton magnetic resonance imaging was used to study the response of the rat liver in situ to bromobenzene, a classic hepatotoxicant. A localized region of high proton signal intensity in the perihilar region of the liver was seen 24-48 hr after an intraperitoneal injection of bromobenzene. Localized proton magnetic resonance spectra from within this region indicated that the increased proton signal intensity was not due to accumulation of fat in the liver, but primarily due to a longer T2 for the proton resonance of water. This is consistent with acute edema in this localized region. In vivo 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies of the same rat livers in situ were performed. Spectroscopic conditions were determined whereby localized, quantitative 31P spectra could be obtained. Using these methods, 10 mmol/kg bromobenzene was found after 24 hr to cause a number of statistically significant (p less than 0.05) effects: a decrease in adenosine 5'-triphosphate levels from 4.1 +/- 0.5 to 3.0 +/- 0.5 mM, a decrease in phosphodiester levels from 11.3 +/- 0.9 to 9.3 +/- 0.7 mM and an increase in the phosphomonoesters from 3.0 +/- 0.4 to 5.5 +/- 1.2 mM (mean +/- standard deviation). High resolution in vitro 31P spectra of perchloric acid extracts of these rat livers showed that the increased phosphomonoester resonance was due to a selective 4.3-fold increase in phosphocholine. Thus, our in vivo and in vitro 31P magnetic resonance spectra are consistent with the hypothesis that a phosphatidylcholine-specific phospholipase C (generating phosphocholine and diacylglycerol) is activated during tissue damage. Both the imaging and spectroscopy results obtained with bromobenzene closely resemble CCl4-induced liver changes previously reported, and may reflect a generalized response of the liver to any acutely acting toxic chemical.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay of the neutral B meson into the final state J/psipi(+)pi(-). The data set contains approximately 56 x 10(6) BB pairs produced at the Upsilon(4S) resonance and recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) storage ring. The result of this analysis is B(B0-->J/psipi(+)pi(-))=(4.6+/-0.7+/-0.6) x 10(-5), where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, we measure B(B0-->J/psirho(0))=(1.6+/-0.6+/-0.4) x 10(-5).  相似文献

Metabolite concentrations in normal adult brains and in gliomas were quantitatively analyzed by in vivo proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) using the fully relaxed water signal as an internal standard. Between January 1998 and October 2001, 28 healthy volunteers and 18 patients with gliomas were examined by in vivo proton MRS. Single voxel spectra were acquired using the point-resolved spectroscopic pulse sequence with a 1.5-T scanner (TR/TE/Ave = 3000 ms/30 ms/64). The calculated concentrations of N-acetyl-aspartate (NAA), creatine (Cre), choline (Cho), and water (H2O) in the normal hemispheric white matter were 23.59 +/- 2.62 mM (mean +/- SD), 13.06 +/- 1.8 mM, 4.28 +/- 0.8 mM, and 47280.96 +/- 5414.85 mM, respectively. The metabolite concentrations were not necessarily uniform in different parts of the brain. The concentrations of NAA and Cre decreased in all gliomas (p < 0.001). The NAA/Cho and NAA/H2O ratios can distinguish the normal brain from gliomas, and low-grade astrocytoma from high-grade group (p < 0.001). The concentration of taurine (Tau) in medulloblastomas was 29.64 +/- 5.76 mM. This is the first quantitative analysis of Tau in medulloblastoma in vivo and confirms earlier in vitro findings.  相似文献
